Portal Content DC
Hello,
in my company we plan to transport EP content with the NWDI. I followed the guide "Configuration of SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio", but don`t get the option "Enterprise Portal Content Archive" in my NWDS on existing development configuration.
Also i found in componentTypes.xml (NWDS SPS19) an existing component type under <type name="Enterprise Portal" icon="type/EnterprisePortal.gif" selectable="false">
<sub-type name="Portal Content" icon="type/EP_Content.gif">
<wizard pluginid="com.sap.portal.pcd.ide.eclipse.nwdi"
class="com.sap.portal.pcd.ide.eclipse.nwdi.ui.NewPortalContentWizard"/>
<build name="tc/bi/bp/pcd" vendor="sap.com" scalias="" ppref="def"/>
</sub-type>
But none of these two option are available, when chossing create new DC. I found that both plugins "com.sap.ide.eclipse.content" and "com.sap.portal.pcd.ide.eclipse.nwdi" not available in my installation? Is there an additional package to install for NWDS?
Regards Oliver
You can try following the procedure (section 5.2.2) described in this old unofficial document: <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/38cf1698-0301-0010-d8a9-ae902e46325f">How to Transport EP 6 Content</a>.

Best way to index portal content
Hi all,
I am searching for a nice way to index the content of the portal.
Using the standard functionality (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/46/9d1405fa743ef0e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm) does not lead to sufficient results, since all roles which are located in PCD are indexed and are found by the enduser.
This could lead to the situation that the enduser might open a page which leads to an error or a blank page.
The other possibility is to use the PCD roles search (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/b2/d59a4271c80a31e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm). This only offers results of roles which are assigned to the user.
However, content of iViews (e.g. URL iViews) are not indexed and so the user can only search for the ID / description of the page (which is okay, but content search is also important).
Is there no other possibility to search for portal content?
Thanks for any hints...
Best Regards
Philipp KölschHi,
it seems that the current ways of indexing portal content are not really sufficient... I hope that there are better solutions in the future...

Portal Content area not displaying in Portal
I tried to disable Portal favorites option from Content admin -> Default Frame work Page -> Detailed navigation. Instead of only disabling the default navigation I have disabled the entire Portal content area and I am now not able to see any content in the Portal except the masthead area and the Top level navigation.
Can any one please help me on this.
Thanks.Hi,
Check the content area iview in the Desktop inner page in framework page.If this iview is not there then it will not show the content area.
If desktop inner page is deeted then also you will not see the content area.
If so please add the content area iview indside the Desktop inner page then you can see the content area for the users.
Content area iview will be available under the following path of the portal
Content Administration > Portal Content > Content provided by sap > Admin Interfaces > Admin Iview Templates > Content Area (view).
Thanks,

In Portal Content admin Role "Portal content" folder is not displaying
Hi,
I created a user in EP and assign Only Content admin Role. But in portal content area "Portal content "folder is not displaying.
Can someone help me the process steps to achieve it?
Thanks,
kundanIt is because the user has no proper permissions to the porta content folder.
you should give atleast read permission to the portal content folder to the content_admin role or to the users who have content admin role.
also make sure the end user check box is checked at the time of giving permissions.
Otherwise give eevryone group as read permisisons to the portal content folder. then you can see the portal content folder with read permissiosn only.

Error in loading Portal Content with IE
Hi,
I have some problems with customization of Sap Portal, maybe someone can help me
with some informations.
I am using Sap Netweaver Portal 7.0 with IE 6.0.2900 SP2 and Mozzila Mozilla/5.0.
When I try to display Content Administration -> Portal Catalog with IE I have one
error(after a long period of "Loading..."):
Error: Object required - and the Portal Content is not displayed at all .
In this way, I don't have acces to Portal Content with IE.
I also tried with other browsers (Opera, Netscape, Lotus) but there is the
same issue.
In Firefox, the Portal Content it's displayed, but there is another issue:
I open a Role object and I try to Edit it's properties: these aren't displayed
in the right corner of the screen. I checked in the Error Console of Firefox
and there is a JS err: event is not defined: error in roleeditor.js
In this way I am not able to handle any issue regarding Portal Content.
Maybe some of you, guys, had this problem or have any idea about solving it.
Thanks.

Edited by: Andreea Melinte on Nov 21, 2008 3:03 PMYes, the error appears when you access the portal with the IP address which should not be the approach.
Use the domain name instead ... i.e hostname.domain.com:portnumber. -

How to use an self-made iView in the Portal Content?
Hi everybody,
I followed the instructions to set up a Portal (6.0 SP 2) with the PDK. Now I just wrote a simple "Hello-World" iView and deployed it into the portal server. It worked fine when I clicked to test it in the Java Development Inspector.
But...
In the Portal Content I can not find my self-made iView? How do I get it there? I coudn't find any documentation.
I'd appreciate your help!In the portal content try to create a new Iview and select the option (create new iview from portal Archive).
After selecting that you will see all the PARs deployed on your server, just select yours and follow on.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

Collaboration Launch Pad as iview in the Portal content
Hi friends,
i have the following problem. I configured the collaboration launch pad (real time collaboration) and it works fine.
I just don´t want to start the iview from the collaboration link next to the TREX search. Instead of that i need the iview with the user status and the possibility to start an instant message session within the portal content.
Does anyone know if it is possible and what is the name of the corresponding iview?
Thanks in advance
MichaelHi Michael
Create an new iView (new from PAR => iView) and select the com.sap.netweaver.coll.shared.ui
Create a link in the iView to the contacts:
In the iView properties add in field "Path for Initially Displayed Folder": /alias/%3Cmycontacts%3E
and in field "Path for Start Uri": /alias/<mycontacts>
Hope this helps.
This worked, but I needed also to activate the Tool Area with activated CLP link. I didn't get it work without Tool Area.

Problem in Portal Content after upgrading EP 6.0 to SP12
Hi SDN,
I have upgraded EP 6.0 from SP9 to SP12 but am facing the problem that am not able to view the context window <b><Open,Preview,Change ID,Copy,Cut,Delete></b> when i right click on any of the folder or contents within that folder under <b>Portal Content</b>.
Prior to upgrade everything was working fine.
Awaiting for your response....
Regards,
Raghbir Singh KapoorYou might be still caching some old static stuff (css, js etc) in your browser. Try clean local cache and see what happens. Eventually you can check what is going wrong in HTML from portal by using HTTPWatch.
Also, if you are using a proxy cache to access portal... try access directly instead.
Hope this helps

Javascript error in Content Admin- Portal Content- iview Navigation window
Hi friends,
We are in the process of portal migration and as a part of this, we installed NW04 SPS 14 using Rapid Installer and then upgraded it to SPS 18. The components we upgraded are:
Java component
Portal Platform
Knowledge Management and Collaboration
Adobe Document Services
BI UDI
BI MMR
After upgradation, when we logged in to portal, we were not able to see/browse Portal pages/Roles/Iviews/Worksets (PCD Contents) under Content Administration->Portal Content.
Again, whichever window is there for navigation of PCD, we are not able to see the contents of PCD.For e.g. System Administration -> System Configuration.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Portal content in Arabic for limited users
Hello Colleagues
We are about to implement ESS on EP.In our backend system ECC 6.0 data is available in English.
Our client requirement is that for certain users Portal content should be available in Arabic.I have gone through some threads in which we can change the Portal language to Arabic for all with Portal Translation .But my question is whether it is feasible for limited users as rest of users will access Portal in English.
Best RegardsHi,
Based on the Language set on UME standard things will change in portal. To translate your Custom application language in Portal then follow the below link and translate it manually . So that only users with Arabic language set can see portal in Arabic Language.
