Portal Content missing

Hello All,
When I go to Content Administration --> Portal Content, I just see the "Looking..." message but nothing appears. After a couple of minutes "Looking" message ends and nothing is displayed.
I already deployed ESS and MSS Business Packages with SDM but I can't see the content in the Portal Content menu. I can't even see the "default" portal content.
This is my first portal installation and I don't know if I must do something to see the Portal Content in this menu. I'm using Administrator user.
Any help will be appreciated.

Francisco

Thanks Michael , it works¡

    Hi,
Check the log file for the error. I think it could be some problem with JVM heap size. Check the log files using this link.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/jsts/(CommonIssues)Log%252bfiles
If it is JVM issue, check this link.

    Re: J2ee engine doenot startup
    Also refer SAP Note 710146.
For Portal content folder, permissions are missing. Login with admin account. Go to System Admin -> Permissions -> Portal permissions -> Right click 'Portal content' folder and select Open Permissions. Check if the user has atleast read permission. To create iViews etc, user should have read/write permission. Also make sure end user checkbox is marked.

  • Portal Content Translation -  missing items in worklist

Hello all, first post but I am sure not the last. Here is my problem:
I am trying to translate Portal Content in MSS from english to french using Portal Content Translation, but certain items that I need to translate don't appear in the worklist.
What is puzzling about this is that some of these items have a "Name" field attached to them when I go directly in the PCD...Why don't they appear in the worklist?
For example, one of the items I need to change is the folder name "Performance Management", which, in french, has an unacceptable title to the client (this name appears in portal navigation so it's a biggie).  When I log in french and check the "Name" field directly, it of course has the english name in there and changing it will affect the english side.
The master language is set to english and the MSS role i am using is a copy of the standard delivered. I have tried using the standard role in the worklist, but I still get the same number of items.
How am i supposed to make the change?

    Hi,
Please try in Portal Translation Worklist -> Translation Worklist Coordination
in the property editor of the worklist change Resolve References to yes.

  • Users cannot see Portal Content

    Hello,
I have installed netweaver 7.01 portal and after installation, I have created users with Content Admin role.
But these users are still unable to see the Portal Content folder. Only administrators are able to see the portl content.
What's wrong? Am I missing something hre?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Login as Admin user, go to Content Admin -> Portal Content -> You need to right click on Port Content folder and edit permissions.
Here, search for the Content Admin role and add it to the permissions list. Then, assign Full Access permissions under Administrator column and check the boxes under End user and Role assigner.
Now, the users with the content admin role should be able to see the portal content.
    Hope this works.

  • Problems with MDM 5.5 SP05 Portal Content - ResultSet iView

    Hello Experts,
We are having problems with standard iViews from MDM 5.5, more specific with ResultSet iView. We created an iView using English as default browser’s language but our client wanted it in Portuguese, so in the MDM Repository both languages were defined and used in MDM Data Manager, when passed to the Portal iView an error occur, but only in a ResultSet iView from the MDM Portal Content, the others iViews (itemDetails, PicklistSearch, etc...) are shown in Portuguese, and we cannot figure out why it works fine in English and not in Portuguese. We left the default language defined by client’s browser. Below I’m sending the LOG, which by the way, doesn't help much, but I put it also here. Any ideas of what should I do ?
    LOG ERROR:

We are using Portal 7.0 SPS11 and MDM 5.5 SP05 - Portal Content in a Win2003/Oracle server each.

    Alex,
sorry to disturb you with this issue, can you explain me basic steps in order to setup standard MDM iviews from the portal?
I mean, I have already installed all standard mdm business content, and also have configured system and aliases in the portal to connect to my mdm repositories. Those system/aliases are working propperly.
But, when I try to preview standard MDM iviews/pages I got several JAVA errors in trace logs.
Specific iviews are: Item Details, Show products, etc..any iview execution fails.
So, am I missing something?, do i have to create a specific user in portal?, assign specifi roles or groups???.
    Platform is: nw2004s SR2, SP11, MDM content 5.5
    Thank you in advance.

  • ReDeploying Portal Content - Need Help Plz.

    Hello All,
Is there is way to redeploy all Portal Content. All of a sudden the Links and Iview in the my Portal are not working it keep saying that it cannot find the iViews and the Application is missing, can some one please help me with this.
    Best Wishes,
    John.

    Hi John,
if you have a backup of your portal server file system you could restore from the backup the ...\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment directory (with subfolder) and remove from every PAR-File the .bak extension.
By that all PARs will be deployed on the next server startup.
If the PCD content (iViews,Pages, etc) is missing, you need to restore the DB or you could import a transport package from another server.
    Hope this helps,

  • Unable to displat portal Content

I am having issue in the portal 6.0 SP2 looks like the desktop innerpage link is missing from  default framework page , when I log on to the portal as Administrtaor I go to any table Content Administration, System Administrtation or user administration I do not see anything its giving the balnk page. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Ajay,
you could access directly the PCD page "Portal Content Studio" by using this URL:
    http://<YOUR_PORTAL_SERVER>:<PORT>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.pagebuilder.IviewModeProxy?iview_id=pcd%3Aportal_content/administrator/super_admin/super_admin_role/com.sap.portal.content_administration/com.sap.portal.content_admin_ws/com.sap.portal.portal_content&iview_mode=default
Login with a user that has the super_admin_role, navigate to Portal Content -> Portal Users -> Standard Portal Users -> Default Framework Page and check it there is a problem with the Destkop Innerpage (set to invisible like Ganesh mentioned).
If you used the above link and you still get an empty page, check for error logs in the default.trc.
    Hope this helps,

  • Javascript errors when iView is running in Portal Content Area

We have URL based iView which is running flex application. If this iView is running in separate window (by preview, link or setting "Launch in new Window" option) everything is fine.
However, if iView is running inside Portal Content Area there are bunch of JavaScript errors (missing object, permission denied). The iView itself is still running fine, but those errors are annoying and could be a problem for customers.
Are there any ways to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
So after a few days I managed to finally get a workable solution:
Whenever you are referring to a script file in your main page, you will not be able to open the file when in normal mode, even with relaxing the domain and all the other hints posted.
What you need to do is to include the actual content of the *.js file in the main html page.
For example, if you have a page called index.html that refers to a file AC_RunActiveContent.js which is located in your scripts directory, you will need to change the code in the index.html file as follows:
    Initial HTML File:*
    < HTML>
    < HEAD>
    < TITLE>Test Page</TITLE>
<!-- Collapsible Panel Java Script -->
    < s c r i p t  s r c="../scripts/collapsiblepanel. j s" type="text/ j a v a s c r i p t"></ s c r i p t>
<!-- Collapsible Panel Java Script -->
    < /HEAD>
    < BODY>
    < /BODY>
    < /HTML>
    New HTML File:
    < HTML>
    < HEAD>
    < TITLE>Executive Committee - Balance Sheets</TITLE>
<!-- Collapsible Panel Java Script -->
    < s c r i p t t y p e="t e x t / j a v a s c r i p t ">
    your actual javascript code
    < / s c r i p t >
<!-- Collapsible Panel Java Script -->
    < /HEAD>
    < BODY>
    < /BODY>
    < /HTML>
    By doing this:
You will be able to use java scripts in your html file and applications without experiencing the problems mentioned. Keep in mind though that you will now have all your script file code in your actual html file and the number of lines in the files will increase dramatically.
The increase in size of the actual html files are not too bad, a normal 2Kb html file may increase to 70Kb if not more, depending on the code contained in the initial *.js file.
I have played around with this and have been able to include Macromedia Flash objects in my html files too, by pasting the actual code content in the html files as opposed to refereincing the script in the relevant directory.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Freddie Botha.

  • Best way to index portal content

    Hi all,
I am searching for a nice way to index the content of the portal.
Using the standard functionality (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/46/9d1405fa743ef0e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm) does not lead to sufficient results, since all roles which are located in PCD are indexed and are found by the enduser.
This could lead to the situation that the enduser might open a page which leads to an error or a blank page.
The other possibility is to use the PCD roles search (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/b2/d59a4271c80a31e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm). This only offers results of roles which are assigned to the user.
However, content of iViews (e.g. URL iViews) are not indexed and so the user can only search for the ID / description of the page (which is okay, but content search is also important).
Is there no other possibility to search for portal content?
    Thanks for any hints...
    Best Regards
    Philipp Kölsch

    Hi,
it seems that the current ways of indexing portal content are not really sufficient... I hope that there are better solutions in the future...

  • Portal Content area not displaying in Portal

I tried to disable Portal favorites option from Content admin -> Default Frame work Page -> Detailed navigation. Instead of only disabling the default navigation I have disabled the entire Portal content area and I am now not able to see any content  in the Portal except the masthead area and the Top level navigation.
Can any one please help me on this.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Check the content area iview in the Desktop inner page in framework page.If this iview is not there then it will not show the content area.
If desktop inner page is deeted then also you will not see the content area.
If so please add the content area iview indside the Desktop inner page then you can see the content area for the users.
Content area iview will be available under the following path of the portal
Content Administration > Portal Content > Content provided by sap > Admin Interfaces > Admin Iview Templates > Content Area (view).

  • In Portal Content admin Role "Portal content" folder is not displaying

    Hi,
I created a user in EP and assign Only Content admin Role. But in portal content area "Portal content "folder is not displaying.
Can someone help me the process steps to achieve it?
    Thanks,
    kundan

It is because the user has no proper permissions  to the porta content folder.
you should give atleast read permission to the portal content folder to the content_admin role or to the users who have content admin role.
also make sure the end user check box is checked at the time of giving permissions.
Otherwise give eevryone group as read permisisons to the portal content folder. then you can see the portal content folder with read permissiosn only.

  • Error in loading Portal Content with IE

    Hi,
I have some problems with customization of Sap Portal, maybe someone can help me
    with some informations.
I am using Sap Netweaver Portal 7.0 with IE 6.0.2900 SP2 and Mozzila Mozilla/5.0.
When I try to display Content Administration -> Portal Catalog with IE I have one
error(after a long period of "Loading..."):
Error: Object required - and the Portal Content is not displayed at all .
In this way, I don't have acces to Portal Content with IE.
I also tried with other browsers (Opera, Netscape, Lotus) but there is the
    same issue.
In Firefox, the Portal Content it's displayed, but there is another issue:
I open a Role object and I try to Edit it's properties: these aren't displayed
in the right corner of the screen. I checked in the Error Console of Firefox

In this way I am not able to handle any issue regarding Portal Content.
Maybe some of you, guys, had this problem or have any idea about solving it.
    Thanks.

Yes, the error appears when you access the portal with the IP address which should not be the approach.
Use the domain name instead ... i.e hostname.domain.com:portnumber.

  • How to use an self-made iView in the Portal Content?

    Hi everybody,
I followed the instructions to set up a Portal (6.0 SP 2) with the PDK. Now I just wrote a simple "Hello-World" iView and deployed it into the portal server. It worked fine when I clicked to test it in the Java Development Inspector.
    But...
In the Portal Content I can not find my self-made iView? How do I get it there? I coudn't find any documentation.
    I'd appreciate your help!

In the portal content try to create a new Iview and select the option (create new iview from portal Archive).
After selecting that you will see all the PARs deployed on your server, just select yours and follow on.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks
