Portal Content Transport

Hi folks!
I deleted several objects beneath a PCD folder.
Now I want to update this folder in another portal system (via transport package - normally...).
How can I have these objects that were deleted in the source system to be deleted in the target system?
Note: I'd like to avoid deleting the folder in the target system and re-create it.
Thanks in advance,
Geraldo.

Geraldo,
I fear there is no such way you can delete in target system similar to that of source system.you have to maually do this.it wont work just by transport
Thanks

  • Portal Content Transport help!

    Hi,
I created some "Remote Delta Links" in my Development Portal that point to IViews on my Dev BI System.  When I transport the "Remote Delta Links" from my Dev Portal to my Prd Portal the reference is still to my Dev BI System.
Why would they still be point to my Dev Producer when transported to my Production Portal?  Sounds like a transport configuration issue.
    Anyone?

Hmmm..  It looks like the Producer on the Development Portal and the Production Portal have to have the same name!
Unlike in non-portal BI transports where the Development ID is changed over to the Production ID...
read step 1 real carefully at this link.

    Hi Ree,
As I mentioned in my previous reply it is working perfectly for me. The import is creating the required files in the PCD.
Let me explain how it is done.
    Create a TP
Create a folder and add the required files(Workset, pages, iviews etc) to the the folder.
add the folder with all the contents(select 'Add all objects to transport package' from the content menu) to the TP.
Export the TP. give a name of your choice(removing the numbers)
Download it to the local machine using the dowmload link.
the file will be saved as a <i>TPName</i>.epa in your local drive.
in import, select 'client' for Source for Package Files.
brose and select the <i>TPName</i>.epa file.
upload the file, and you can see the contents.
then import it to the new environment. Now the complete folder stucture will be created in the PCD exactly as you created it for the TP.
I hope you are doing like this. It should work
Are yo able to open the downloaded file with WinZip?
    cheers

  • Is it possible to do portal content transports through System landscape?

    Hello,
In order to transport content from portal A to portal B I am currently using transport packages: export the content from portal A, download it to the local PC and import it to portal B. The process is working OK but I still have a question:
SAP are transferring all the control on their systems to the System landscape, for example Java developments. My question is if it is also possible to make these transports through the system landscape so no local PCs are involved in the process?

    Hi Roy,
You are right in the point that development projects can be transported, using the NWDI, centrally managed through the system landscape.
Nevertheless, the PCD transports (EPA) have to be touched manually anyhow. Theoretically, you can set up an SDA and put an EPA into it, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a3/782240da03e569e10000000a155106/frameset.htm for details.
But this only really makes sense if you want to transport your own application together with the portal configuration (iViews representing your application...).
So in the end, PCD transports are designated to be transported as you are used to - manually via the export / import function of the portal.
    Hope it helps

  • Portal content transport between the systems

    Hello,
I am trying to understand the methodology of how the Enterprise portal or any Java systems transport the objects between the landscape like Dev to QA and Prod.
How is the common shared directory / trans - designed and used in Java systems.
Please throw some lights on how this can be implemented..
    Thanks,

    Hi Addy,
I assume you are referring to transporting PCD objects like iViews, Pages and Roles across different environments?
This link might be helpful for your scenario: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/c5/56599164d0c04cb566ba0e2d7ed55c/frameset.htm]
The "Configuring Transport" section explains the different transport parameter in the Portal, including setting import/export folder across environments.
You can also use CTS to transport portal objects, but CTS is more of an add-on to the standard portal tools.
    Hope this helps!

  • Portal Content Translation - Transport

    Hello
We created some worklist in Portal Content Translation to translate the texts in roles, worksets and iViews from English (source) to German (end user).
Now, we need to transport these worklists to the Test Portal and we tried to follow the steps as described in the help below:
    [Performing Language Transports|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/f8/a4c0b28ab7324d835176fdbbb28c3e/frameset.htm]
    It did not work:
    1) We created a Package with "text_only" property, filled it with the worklists and selected the language to be transported in "Language Transport" menu, but the deployment failed.
    2) We created a Package without "text_only" property, filled it with the worklists and did not select any language to be transported. Once imported, the worklists were in the Test Portal, but the translation to german was not in them.
    3) We created a Package similar to the one in step 2, but selected the language to be transported in the "Language Transport" menu. The result was the same we had in step 2.
So, what must we do to transport not only the worklists, but also the translations created in the Development Portal?
    Thanks in advance, regards!
    Jon

    Hi,
I'm not sure if I did understand you correctly, but it seems that you want to transport the translation worklist? To transport the translated content, you'll have to do
    1. create a translation worklist and assign the PCD objects (iviews, pages, roles)
    2. translate the content
    3. publish the translated content
    4. create a transport package containing the PCD objects translated and transport this package (eg: text_only).

  • Transport of Portal Content

    Experts,
I need to transport the portal content (only the IViews, pages, systems etc and not the background WD application!) from the dev box to the QA and later Production.
Do i use the transport functionality provided in the portal for this??
Can the portal content be extracted into a DC so that I can get the content into NWDI and tranport it through the landscape.
Whats the default approach(could also be the only approach)???
    Thanks,
    Vineeth

    Hi Vineeth,
For Transport you should have System Administration Role..
    Go to
System Administration -> Transport -> Export
Select the folder or content.. Right click.. Click Transport Package in context menu. And Follow..
Save that package in ur system.
Then import in ur degination system
    Thanks and Regards

  • Transport of portal content objects from EP 6 SP 15 to NW 2004s portal

    Hello All,
My question is regarding the transportation of portal content from a EP 6 SP 15 portal to the NW 2004s portal. We had developed a lot of content in the EP 6 portal. We had installed and configured business packages in the SP 15 portal.
Now, we installed a new NW 2004s portal and we want to transport all the developed content from the SP 15 to the new NW 2004s portal.
I exported all the developed content to a transport package on the SP 15 portal and the export resulted in the .epa file. I then imported it into the new NW 2004s portal. But the issue now is I am unable to see the system aliases which were created for all the systems. The systems do exist in the new portal but the aliases do not exist.
Is there anything that needs to be done to get the system aliases?
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sunitha.

    Hi Sunitha,
I think while exporting you have to select the option include dependant objects also to get the system alias also.

  • Keeping track of portal content and transports

    Hi,
We have a DEV portal Ep 6.0 sp19. We would now like to setup QA and PRD systems and need a way to manage content between portals.
The document 'Best Practice - Transporting NetWeaver Portal Content'  suggests using a Word document to keep track of content changes and transports.
    link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/519d369b-0401-0010-0186-ff7a2b5d2bc0
Is there a SAP template that can be used as a starting point for such a document?
    Regards
    Sunil

    Hi schlueterd!
Build a small applet extending Runnable, ie: a threaded one. Each time its "run" method loops the applet will read an small input file and updates "displaying score" component.
Of course you'll need to update this input file as soon as possible.
You'll use few classes and a good reference is any applet displaying scrolling text (search for open source in the web).
    I hope it helps.

  • Transporting/Deploying Portal Content and Delta Linked Objects

I researching the best way to trasport/deploy changed ESS Portal content from sandbox to D>Q.  I have become familiar with the few changes my co. needs to deploy part of ESS.  I have read articles that say it is wrong to modify the "Content Provided by SAP".  The recommendation appears to be "use delta link objects". I created the necessary delta links in a new directory.
How do I get the delta link objects to display instead of the sap source objects? I this primarily related to how the  portal is configured or how the content is managed?
I'm really sorry about the general question (in advance) but this stuff is new for me and I'm essentially looking for some good direction here.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
Yes exactly right. You should create your own PCD folder under Portal Content to store your objects. How you structure that is entirely up to you, however in my experience I have seen two ways
    1. First by Function or Dept (e.g. Finance, Logistics, HR) then by technical object (iView, role etc...)
    2. First by Technical Object (e.g. iViews, Roles, Worksets etc...) then by function or dept or region (Finance, HR etc...)
Number 1 makes more sense to me. Just some other tips when it comes to creating PCD content:
    1. Put everything in your own namespace (e.g. com.mycompany) that way it is easy to separate from SAP content using filters.
2, Come up with a logical naming standard so you can easily identify content by group, function and technical type (e.g. for an iView you might name it whoswho with the prefix com.mycompany.hr.ivu resulting in a name com.mycompany.hr.ivu.whoswho)
    2. Don't give PCD folders any prefix (e.g. com.mycompany) as it ends up elongating the resulting URLs unnecessarily and you can run into problems down the track.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Business Objects In Portal Content Studio

    Hi All,
I Installed a business package for CRM in EP 6.0 SP09 and I created aliases SAP_BW and SAP_CRM for the CRM and BW systems and assigned roles to users and was accessing them.
The Business Objects Folder in Portal content studio was empty even after the installation of BP, but Later when I checked that I found a Folder "SAP_BW"  under "Business Objects" Folder. I just want to know how did these objects come there and how
Could someone please clarify this to me.
    Thank you

    Hi Ignacio,
Should they be transported manually to the QA system or will they again be created automatically when I start accessing these BW iviews in QA system.
will it save me the loading time of a template if I transport this business objects folder to QA system by creating a transport package.
    Thank you

  • Return Standard Permissions to Portal Content Objects

    Hello experts,
I was changing the Permissions of some portal content objects and accidentally I've modified the permissions of all the Portal Content Objects (including the standard objects). I clicked the "Reset child permissions" button of the Permission Editor of the "Portal Content" folder. Do you know any way to return the standard permissions?
Best regards and thanks in advance

    Hi,
If you have another portal then you can transport permissions from the first to the seccond portal.
    Cheers,
