Portal Design

Hi there,
I have a query relating to portal design.
I would like to build an enterprise portal that allows a central office to deliver static content (doc, xls, pdf documents) to a number of regional offices. Access is such that users can see documents relating to their own office but not those relating to other offices.
What's the best way to implement this in Oracle Portal?
(1) Single common portlet for all offices - add all documents to a single location in Portal and assign access privileges so that each set of users sees only their own. Concern that large number of documents may make maintenance more difficult.
(2) Separate Portlet for each office - assign access to the users to their own office portlet and add documents to each portlet. Concern is maintenance of large number of portlets.
(3) Single common portlet with folder structure for documents - pass an office parameter to a portlet so that it knows which folder its documents are located in. Don't know if this is feasible. May allow easiest level of maintenance.
Any opinions or suggestions are very much appreciated.

a solution that will manage a large amount of docs and a consequent number of offices is :
create a pagegroup that will contain the docs
below this page group, create one page per officehere, you can use sub pages to archivate your content
set the security at the page level.After that, in your portal application, use some portlets to show the content (such as customized search portlets that will show a list of all docs)

Unfortnatel that does not work, it is behind the text, (see attached). As far as I can see it does not exist in the orignal Word doc that I have opened on another mac using office??

Use of field "design documents assigned" in material master

hi,
kindly help me to use the field "design documents assigned" in material master. whenever i creat material master (MM01) in basic data2 view this field comes with grey/black No Link indicator. how to use this and for what .

Hi Roshan,
Insted of using this field u can assign Document directly to the Additional Data tab.
TO attach the document to Material Master go to Additional data ---> Document data, assign Document.
You can confirm it by pressing F1 key by selecting that Field.

Forms 10g - Design Document

Good day,
I'm working in Oracle Forms Builder 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and I keep coming across functions in the PL/SQL code that are used to modify values in the forms. Unfortunately I don't have a design document for my system so I can't tell the API of these functions. I think some of the functions may be standard functions in PL/SQL or Oracle Forms Builder. Would anyone be able to point me to a resource that can explain how to use each of these functions?

Those are all Forms functions. I would suggest you download the PDF [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/10g-forms-091309.html]documentation for Oracle Forms. I use the PDF manuals all the time. Another good source is the online-help by simply selecting Help => Online Help and then searching for the particular function name or the like.

Go to doucment data tab(via additional data) just double click on the document type,it will take you to the CV03N screen where you select the document & click on print,else double click on the document then take the print out,for the former one config has to be done

The tick indicates that you havent linked any document in the material master
If you link any document then that subscreen "Design doc assigned" itself will vanish
For attaching document go to "additional data"
Select Document Data here you can attach any doc/drawing

Design Documentation tell us how the interfaces are going to work for the entire project. So usually Architects or Senior guys who have indepth experience of XI will usually write this.
Functional Documentation tell us the functioanlity of the interface. This is written by the Functional guys who have indepth knowledge about the functionality what they are looking from the interface. They may even take the help of technical guys to some extent.
Technical Documentation tells us how the interface is going to be worked technically. Here we will mention what are the adapters, naming conventions etc we are going to use for the interface. This is written by the XI developers. This are purely my views and this may change from person to person jenni.

I was also getting same error once...However i was able to see my web service definition in F4. Selecting from F4 list was working fine but if i entered the name mannually, i was getting the same message as you got...may be its a Bug..
Just to assist you, Have to activated the webservice from SICF before going for deployment using template or Adobe ?
Just check if you have maintained the webservice in SICF.
