Harry, Why won't Portal Developers Support Oracle Support???

I just got off the phone with Oracle support and the response is
that they can't provide assistance on my TAR because the portal
developers won't give them the info. Why?
All I have been asking for are the columns/tables in PORTAL30
and/or PORTAL30_SSO that store the page name (and display name),
owner, etc. for each page, content area, application, etc. This
way I can more easily generate a script to do the page/content
area exports/imports instead of going through the navigator and
clicking edit on each object. And how about a data model like
Apps offers its users -- surely one exists so why not share it?

I'm using this procedure to list all my pages. For now I just
run this in Portal and copy/paste it into an export dos-batch
script which exports all the specified pages. Later I will
update the procudure so that it generates the export script
automatically.

Portal Developer needed

I need an Oracle Portal developer for a permanent position in Louisville, KY. We will be on 10.1.4 Portal and using Oracle Reports, Forms, and Discoverer. We already have 600+ Oracle Reports and 100+ Oracle Forms. Discoverer is used against a 10 TB data warehouse plus a large number of smaller SQL Server and DB2 databases.
We need to design the Portal from the ground up to support existing Forms and Reports plus enable these developers to deploy their own custom code quickly.
There will be Java coding done to interface with a custom security API.
We are a large Oracle shop and need an experienced Oracle Portal developer. We just hired a very experience Sun Portal developer and now we need someone with really strong Oracle skills.

Personal data change in PORTAL (PA30) - need to send mail notification

Hi,
When there is any change in personal data on PORTAL need to send a mail notification to the respective agents. I was able to design the workflow in such a way that , whenever there is any change in the personal data (Ex. Marital status) it trigger an event and workflow starts, inturn it send mail to external system and sap Userid.
The question is ?
1. If the personal data is changed from the portal , does it trigger the same event in the backend ? does
it start my workflow?

Convert static html page to portal help needed

I have a page here. that I need to put in portal.
I am having trouble!
use banner for the top image.
use a region for the top menu links. This is "About, Registration, Security,etc...)
Because menu bars and folders do not do horizontal alignment of items, all the links (about, registration) have to be one item. Would this be text in a folder? If a folder, can I remove the nav bar?
One of my problems is that a lot of the content uses images. What is best practice for referring to images in content?
If one has a lot of html content (10 lines) , why is the best element to use for this?
Should I just use UI templates for everything?

Depends. If you are going to reuse the layout, use a UI template. e.g static navigation , company branding etc.
If you need to add Javascript/DHTML effects etc, a UI template is good, since you can call them from your portlets.
As far as images go, don't place them in the database ! Place them on the middle tier and cache the folder
with an Expires directive.

Portal logoff: Need to redirect KM html page

Hi all,
Currently When I click logoff button its rediredt to log in page. But I need to put one KM html page with some message and if user want to re-login i will give one CLICK here for relogin.
Im trying to do this through PAR file. Please some one suggest how to give KM URL

Could you please try the below two?
Option1: please check, whether you are acutally logged off or not? Even if you are shown the logon page it could be possible that the URL redirected is not shown in the browser. To do this just replace '/irj/portal' with'/index.html' then som UME or NWA link. If you are in without proving uid/pswd then you are not logged off at all, else you are logged off but just not redirected to the URL you have mentioned. If in the second case(logged off but not redirected, kindly check the below property in visual admin- set it to false.
(Did you happen to set the '"ume.logoff.redirect.silent=false" in the visual admin)?.
Then restart server and clear your browser cache too.
Option2: Repeat the above steps trhough config tool and restart server.
(this must work). But if possible try the option1 and hopefully it should work.

Newbie in portal and need help

Hi,
In portal, is there any view (like data dictionary views) where I can get the name of the reports and the name of the tables or views that they are based on
example.
let's say I have 2 reports.
1- rept_dept based on scott.dept table
2- rept_emp based on scott.dept and scott.emp table
I need a SQL statment that will produce this output
report name table_name
rep_dept scott.dept
rep_emp scott.dept

Jose,
i suggest you start with looking at the status of the report with id=14511 in the logs of the reportserver. You can find these from the Oracle Entreprise Manager by selecting the reportserver -link, than follow the failed/completed task-links.
If the report finished succesfully, Internet Explorer probably tried to show the report before it was finished. If this is the case, you can build a small timer that waits for the report to finish or that queries the report server if the report is finished before you trie to show the report.
Questions:
Can you show the report when you enter the url to the report manually in Internet Explorer?
Do you use Headstart?

If user login in portal we need to assign him, the perticular system

if user logins in portal, depending on the user we need to assign him a system( bapi or rfc),
the user database is maintained in a table in MDM. if an user login in portal it should check in MDM to which region(america, asia.europe....) it belog,s to. according to that we need to assign the system(rfc or bapi). if the user belong's to two regions we need to assign the two links(rfc's or bapi's) regions,
help me in doing step by step

ReDeploying Portal Content - Need Help Plz.

Is there is way to redeploy all Portal Content. All of a sudden the Links and Iview in the my Portal are not working it keep saying that it cannot find the iViews and the Application is missing, can some one please help me with this.

Hi John,
if you have a backup of your portal server file system you could restore from the backup the ...\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment directory (with subfolder) and remove from every PAR-File the .bak extension.
By that all PARs will be deployed on the next server startup.
If the PCD content (iViews,Pages,etc) is missing, you need to restore the DB or you could import a transport package from another server.

Portal User needs permissions to start the WebDynpro Content Administrator

Hi All,
We are on EP6 SP13 (SR1 installation) with ECC5 as backend.
We have a user(j2ee_adm_qep) as a default portal administrator.
When i see Content Administrator >> Webdynpro >> i get the webdynpro content administrator screen.. :)
I have created another portal admin user (myadmin) and gave him all the roles that 'j2ee_adm_qep' has..
Also, Even in the backend ECC system.. Su01 transaction.. i have given
>>>>> ROLES >>> SAP_J2EE_ADMIN
>>>>> PROFILES >>> SAP_ALL
But, when i login as 'myadmin' and see the Content Administrator >> Webdynpro >> i get the following message:
Missing Permission
You do not have the needed permissions to start the Web Dynpro Content Administrator.
Please contact your System Administrator.
I want to see the 'webdynpro content administrator screen' when i login as 'myadmin' too..! 'myadmin' should have every permission as 'j2ee_adm_qep'.
Please help me in this regard.. This is kind of urgent.

Hi,
A user in SAP EP has two types of access "roles", J2EE groups and SAP EP roles. Here you are missing the J2EE group administrator (backend roles in ECC system are not needed).
The easiest way to change this is to go to user admin -> groups, search for Administrators and add the myadmin user to this group (alternatively use the security provider service of visual admin).

New to Portal and need help with PDK
