Portal--Discoverer Formatting

I am working in two different environments both reading the same reports. I enter the page header to show the page number (1 of 5) right justified in the page header. When I save that report, I logon to single sign-on and this pulls the report saved to the report. However, the report shows the page number in this format ( of 5) instead of 1 of 5. I know that it is pulling the updated version because I tested it by changing one of the labels. I am viewing the report in PDF from the Portal so that maybe one of the reasons. I tried saving it in the smallest font possible, and modifying the margins. It shows it fine in the client version.
Also, when it is viewed in PDF from SSO/Portal, I have to modify the size of the fields to get it to print landscape on one page. I save it from the Portal, but if I go back and make a change in the client and access it again on the Portal, all of my formatting updates are not there and sometimes without any changes, the printing changes of the columns are not printing all of the columns on the same page in landscape. Is there a way to avoid the user having to do this everytime they want to print from the Single Sign-On?

There is a bug in Metalink (4260313) about total number of pages not working in Discoverer Plus and total pages has been totally removed from Plus in 10.1.2. the same function works fine in Discoverer desktop. Note 308639.1 lists the following two workarounds:
There are two workarounds that will allow printing the total page number information on a Discoverer workbook:
Workaround # 1
If a workbook will be printed, use Discoverer Desktop to add the page numbering and print from Desktop. Open the workbook in Desktop and choose File -> Page Setup -> Header/Footer and insert the "Page Number" and "Total Pages" items. Save the workbook and print from Desktop.
Workaround # 2
Run the workbook in Discoverer Plus or Desktop and then export the workbook to Excel. Once Excel launches, choose File -> Page Setup -> Header/Footer -> add a custom header/footer and use the (#) page number and (##) total pages options to add desired page numbering.

i have a problem in sending a query as a mail using broadcaster in pdf format through portal
The steps to reproduce:
from Query designer executing a query , it takes me to portal screen, there right click on the report and Broadcast and Export->Broadcast Email..Then a new window opens with BEx broad caster.From that if i select the Tab Information Broadcasting, there is a Description :No BW object selected, select a template ,Query or a workbook. " If i open Setting Web Template Tab: and if i select from HIstory 0BROADCAST_TEMPLATE70 or Stanard Web Template for Broadcasting>Transfer-->then i am getting the new window as Distribution Type: 1.Broadcast Emai 2. Broadcast to portal.. , And Output type1.MHTML 2.HTML 3. Online Link to Current Data.
But i am not getting Output Format "PDF",
guide me what to do to get the PDF option as OutputFormat.
where i am getting these options in Query designer itself Query-->Publish. but not in portal when calling portal through query designer by executing a query..

Oracle Portal Report - Formatting Excel output

We are using Oracle Portal 10.1.4.1 and we are using the Locally built providers create new report function.
The report data itself is working as expected. You click the report it prompts to open the excel file and it opens.
We are attempting to find a way to better format what is passed to Excel.
When we add header and footer information in the "Additinal PL/SQL" boxes it shows up on the HTML version of the report, but this does not however show up in the excel version. The excel version seems to be pretty much a raw dump of whatever columns and rows you selected.
Is there a way to add a header or footer to what Oracle Portal outputs to excel?

I remember seeing a Bug that formating conditions do not get saved for number and Date fields when sent to excel.
That might be the cause.

Portal Date format

Is there a way where we can control the date format from the portal which when change will take effect of webdynpro java applications deployed?
Scenario: We have webdynpro java applications deployed on the portal. Data are coming from r/3 which include date. NOw what we need is central control on date format.
on webdynpro we can manually set the date format, or it can be dependent to the date settings of the jco user being used.
but how can we set it automatically from the portal? is it possible?

Performance benckmarks for Portal/Discoverer

This is kind-of the right forum...
I'm embarking on a project to implement a warehouse/portal system that will be implemented with portal and utilising components such as the Discoverer tool.
As a warehouse the project is perhaps a little atypical in that it will have a medium sized warehouse (probably measured in 10s-100s of GB for years 1-2) but a relatively large user community (overall in the 1000s, probable average 10-50, peak (at specific times of year in the 1000s).
I've looked through "3.0.9.8.2 Architecture & Scalability" but I was wondering if anyone could give some benchmark performance indicators for similar profile sites.

Format Data doesn't work?

I want to see numbers in Discoverer formatted as set in Administrator, which is
999G999G990D99.
The Format Data dialog box tells me that 'Default' formats numbers as they have been set up by your Discoverer manager, using the format 9999999999.
Only, I am my own Discoverer manager and I set up 999G999G990D99.
I can find that setting in EUL5_EXPRESSIONS.IT_FORMAT_MASK and I can see changes done with Administrator.
Why don't they show up in Discoverer?

Instead of selecting 'Default' go to more Number
formats and seelct the one you want.In which dialog do you find these 'more number formats'?
That will become the new default format.I need different formats for different columns. So one default won't do.

Date format in ESS

Hi Portal Gurus
I have a requirement of changing the portal date format in ESS screens and other km documents modified date. Now it is in mm/dd/yyyy format and should be in the dd/mm/yyyy format.
already in su01 user-profile date format is in dd/mm/yyyy

The date format is calculated using country and language settings.
Check SAP Notes 947081 and 1164528 which deal with this topic.
If you use an R/3 based store (UME User Management Engine) in the backend system to keep your user data please ensure that you have not only maintained the language setting but also the country setting. Both in combination determine the NetWeaver Web Dynpro locale and in consequence the calendar date format that is used, e.g. DD/MM/YYYY for Australian English and MM/DD/YYYY for USA English.

Date Format in Record Working Time

Dear All,
We are using standard ESS SAP Application i.e. Record Working Time. In this application in Weekly View, the date format is MM.DD.YYYY.
But for other countries it should be DD.MM.YYYY.
How to change this format?
We have changed the format in SU3 but still from portal the format is same.
Please help.

Crystal Reports is now returning all rows where pos_endd is null in the database with the record selection criteria of:
{CHRIS_EmpSal.pos_endd} = date(0, 0, 0)
However, when I run it in Finance One, it doesn't like this date format Is there another way to get both Crystal and Finance One (i.e., SQL Server DB) to recognise the same syntax for null dates?

SAP LSO Course Evaluatio Form format in LSO_PV15

Hi,
We have a requirement from client about Course Evaluation Form.
- When we open the course evaluation form in T.Code PHAP_CATALOG or in the learning portal the format is displayed in PDF or smart form.
- When the course administrator opens the same form in T.Code LSO_PV15 to complete the manual course evaluation the form is opened differently and the form display is not gr8.
Can you please help is there any configuration we would have to do to display the evaluation form in PDF format?

yes, wat your seeing is correct only, as administrator in ECC side it will show as 2nd screen shot.
In portal it will display as WDABAP application, like appraisal template.
and print view (PDF view ) is common in Portal and ECC side.

Java webdynpro date format

Hi ,
I am using some standard java webdynpro from ess/mss package the date format is in US format i.e mm/dd/yyyy in the iviews.
How to change this to dd/mm/yyyy.My browser I.E is already set to ENGLISH UK.
Can anyone suggest me how to change the date format to UK
except the standard ess/mss java webdynpro's Remaining applications in portal date format is in UK format.

go to your portal and go to jco maintanance there check the language that you have used to connect please.
Can you please reconfirm if your browser langauge is English UK
tools->internet options ->languages ->English (United Kingdom)(en-gb)

Changing Date format from MM/DD/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY

Hello all,
          We have upgraded our portal system from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0 . Before upgrade the portal date format was in DD/MM/YYYY format but after upgrade it has changed to MM/DD/YYYY.
          We changed the request.mandatoryCountry and Request.mandatoryLanguage parameters as GB and EN respectively .
After this change the standard portal iview start showing date in DD/MM/YYYY format but custom web dynpro applications are still displaying date in MM/DD/YYYY format.
        Please suggest how can we change the date format for custom dynpro applications too.

Input calendar not displaying appropriate size in Portal

We are on SAPGUI ECC6 and Portal 7.0. We haven't implement CRM.
I have designed an ABAP Webdynpro application. The application has an input field with type DATE. When I view the calender using transaction se80 vai the GUI, the size is 100% correct.
I have also created an Iview for this application and when I view the calendar through the Portal the format is wrong and only the current month is displaying.
Aragorn ahs also posted the same problem during October last year, but the question has not been answered.
Any help will be appreciated.

I am new to this community, and will like to know what it cost to setup, and host an Oracle portal. I am doing a little research for school, and will greatly appreciate any answers. Thanks.

It really depends on what you want, how many users will be using it, what it's for, and how many servers you would need to accommodate it and what type of Oracle package you choose to purchase and if you have Oracle consultants help you with the installation and creation or if you hire your own specialists to do it.
It's not really a question with an easy answer. What I would do, is I would assess a few different scenarios that are similar to different types of environments business would use it in and then research the components they require and for how large of a scale.
Portal isn't a stand alone product you really don't have a business using JUST portal. They are using Application Server and using the other products that come with along with Application Server such as Portal, Discoverer, Data Warehouse, Reports and other Oracle Tool kits and custom tool kits to achieve specific end results dependent on the requirements of the business. Portal is just a user friendly way of bring that information to either the public through the internet or your users though intranet and SSO.
