Portal Error for BI Netweaver

Hi all,
I am a BI consultant, i do not have much exposure to EP.
One of the users in my project is facing the following problem:
When the user is trying to do an XLS Export of a report in the portal he/she is getting the pop-up to save the Excel file. in the pop-up the name of the excel file is coming as a very long string and once he/she tries to save the file an error is ecncountered saying -
'Could not open:
'https://........../com.sap.ip.bi.web.portal.integration.launcher?BI_COMMAND_TYPE=GET_MIME&MIME=<filename>'
But when the other users are trying to save the same file they are getting only the technical name of the report as the default file name, hence they encounter no error while saving the Excel.
Can anyone please help me by saying what went wrong and what needs to be done?

Hi,
Just check the Operating system version of that particular user, it might be possible that the user have some old version of O.S.
Also ask the user to rename the file and then save the same.
Note: Some O.S. have restiction on file name lenght, that way encounter the error.

next i have installed EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 - Preview Version

and i see my bi report with transaction RSRT and ABAP WEB tab ( http://localhost:80000)

Now i'm lost, i would like to deploy my bi report on the portal, but i don't know what i must do.
( and when i try with the query designer or rsrt + java web i have a error message )
- perhaps create an user communication between portal/bi abap where ?
- how to deploy bi java on portal (EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1)
by the way, i can't find the bi post install template in the configuration wizard on the the portal...

Error while installing the EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS)

Dear All,
I am trying to install the EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS) 7.1 .It got installed once but when i was trying to deploy the application i was getting an error sayind that we need to have JDK1.5 Update 14 or higher for the installation.
Now i have JDK 1.5.0_14 installed in my system.So i Uninstalled the EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS) and i am trying to reinstall it but i am getting the following error

Dear Nishita,
I hope you have removed the older version of jdk before installing the new version of jdk. Also after un installation of NWDS, did you delete all the temp files and also the directories created during the original installation of NWDS. Also did you restart your system after the uninstallation of NWDS EHP1 and older jdk before reinstallation of the two softwares?

P.S. The first thing you can try is restarting the PC and try resuming the installation, if it doesnt succeed, please remove all traces of NWDS and JDK, restart pc and then resinstall both of them.

Error when trying to run UCM from browser -The portal page for your Content

When I try and run the UCM in a browser using "http://localhost/idc", it showing
"The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."
I did see a previous message that says to go to Weblayout Editor Applet - Options - Build Home Page - Update -Ok, but I was not able to see the Build Home Page option in the drop down.
Any ideas what may be causing this issue?

I have installed this product on two environments following the same kind format.
In our dev environment I am able to type in the following to get to the Welcome to Content Server Page

In the other environment I use the following and I get that the error "The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."

So the only way to get to the Content Server Page is to type the full path as below which I don't want to do, because I want the welcome screen to appear first.

Try to repeat PostInstallation steps for BI Java(Netweaver Administrator - Deploy and Change - Configuration Wizard - BI-Java / Technical configuration of BI-Java (repeatable, reproducible)).
Or you can only try to maintain JCo Destinations, but it is included in step mentioned above.

Error #2032 SAP Netweaver BI Connection

We are experiencing intermittent #2032 connection error in qualty environment. We worked through #2032 error in sandbox and development environment by following existing posts and SAP notes. We configured qualty environment the same but continue to get the error on an intermittent basis.
Intermittent basis = Out of five test users one will fail with #2032. Retest and a different user will fail but previous user that failed now passes and does not get error.

Additional facts.
The quality portal environment consists of load balancer and two servers D1 & D2. If you go directly against dashboard iView on D1 you never receive #2032 error. If you go directly against dashboard iView on D2 you receive #2032 error 40% of the time.

I just want add a small detail:
The par file is actually a zip file.
The simplest way to "open" it (as Harini suggested) is to change its extention to ".zip" and open it with winzip.

Error installing SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on Windows Vista

This is my second attempt to install. The first time the laptop froze during the MaxDB installation. I was not able to use uninstall.exe (did not exist), so I deleted the entire contents of the sapdb folder and also ran the registry clean tool, RegistryClean.cmd, before the second attempt. Thanks for your response to my question. I have successfully installed VirtualDisk, however I CANCELED the "Create New Virtual Disk" setup at step 8 of your instructions because it states that you must select a size of more than 50GB. After installing VirtualDisk I only have 38GB of free space on my hard drive. System requirements for SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version states 25GB temporary for installation - 12GB permanent. Your instructions specify that an additional 3.5GB are needed for setup files bringing the total space to 28.5GB. Why are more than 50GB required?
If more than 50GB are required, then what are my options? (I have already removed unneeded software, files, etc., so I can't get more space on my existing hard drive.)

Approach for SAP NetWeaver BI security

Hello,
I am new to the portal and have read the various documentation available on help.sap.com and would like to know if you could confirm my understand from a security role and administration point of view.
The scenario here is that NetWeaver 2004 has been installed and we will now be using the Portal for Business Intelligence (formerly BW reporting).
The pilot release will consist of a small number of users who will have access to various queries via a role assignment (creaed via PFCG) and analysis authorziation assignment.
They will be executing the queries via the portal.
Please confirm that the steps below need to be conducted in order for the users to have the applicable access. Note that the roles will be adminstered and maintained in the backend (ABAP) and we will be using the delivered Business Explorer portal role. The portal was configured to use ABAP as the user store.
1. Assign the user the Business Explorer portal role (pcd:portal_content . ... ) in the portal
2. Create the ABAP role to define the specific queries the roles should have access to (PFCG)
3. Create the analysis authorziations to specify what data the user may access (RSECADMIN)
3. Assign the user the role in the backend (SU01) and assign the analysis authorziation(s) (RSECADMIN)
4. ABAP authorizations will continue to be maintained in the ABAP system.
Since we are using the delivered portal role for Business explorer, the applicable UME roles are already assigned to it, correct?

I Have received the Evaluation License for SAP Netweaver Trial Edition
i Have got all the information but when iam tryining to install it is asking me system Number in numeric form
which i could not resolve
plz help me in this issue how to obtain system number

Where to download ESR for SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1, SR5 TRAIL VERSION?

Hi Netweaver CE experts,
Can please someone tell me where do download Enterprise Service Repository (ESR) for SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1, SR5 ?
There is no such link in SDN and I need the TRAIL version , not the licensed one.
SAP used to have it with SR3 but I cannot find it for CE 7.1 SR5?

JSPM_MAIN error in upgrading netweaver- NWDI related error, please check !

Here is the proper step by step explanation
1.)Before any patching the portal
The SP level of EP was SP17 and the ESS/MSS and the SAPPCUI_GP was at 600 .11
2.)The we patched the EP to EHP1 using EHPI installer. Which was done without errors.
3.) Then we patched the MSS to 600.15 and the SAPPCUI_GP to 603.4.1.
4.) The ESS Needs to be patched to 603.4.1, but while patching we got the following errors attached.
The first screen shot is the error we had received first. we resolved it by creating that directory.we donu2019t know why this directory it asked for.

The 3 rd screen shots shows that the ESS is modified by NWDI.
Can someone please explain as to what is the way out, or what it needs to be done in NWDI.

The prerequisite to the patching of the portal were not met initially.
