Portal error in tool area

Hi all, can someone help me in the following problem:
I've installed EP 6.0 SP2, and after applying patches 3 to Portal Platform and CM, I have an error after logging in the portal. The error is displayed between the masthead and the top level navigation:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :

Can someone told me why it appeared how to repair it?
Also when I am going to System administration ->Portal Display and select one theme from Theme Editor I dont see any preview of its elements.

Hi, thanks for your answer.
The error first appeared after importing a theme, assiging it to a desktop and logging with the user with that desktop.
This happened after installing patch 2 for CM.
Before this upgrade of CM, I've installed a database patch for CM database, included in patch 2 (as saying in one sap note). The guide although said that the patch to be applied after the upgrade.
Anyway this was the latest patch of a database I have found in documentation.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Error in tool area iview..

hi...
I already have a portaldesktop assigned to our portal by someone. To find what framework page they have assigned to the portaldesktop, I have gone to masterrule collection and have seen the assigned framework page to our portal. Once I got the framework page, I made the tool area as visible. Now the tool area is reflected on to my portal. But when I search from my portal in tool area..I m getting this error..

Hey guys,
I have assigned eu_role to the portal users and I am able to search now in the tool area.. But the problem is when I assign this eu_role to the portal users I am not able to see some iviews in my home page.. Like I had webdynpro iview and km document iview which are not visible now. And in place of KM document iview its showing me with this message:
Links :There are no items to display (Organize Entries)
Suggest me with some help.

Try to repeat PostInstallation steps for BI Java(Netweaver Administrator - Deploy and Change - Configuration Wizard - BI-Java / Technical configuration of BI-Java (repeatable, reproducible)).
Or you can only try to maintain JCo Destinations, but it is included in step mentioned above.

Error in removing Portal Tool Area from Theme

Hi
In my Portal theme i had a Portal Tool Area with Search options.
My requirment is to removie it from the theme as we don't need it
Go to Content Administration
Portal Content--> Content Provided by SAP->End User Content-> Standar Portal Users
You can see Default frame work page.Open the same and untick the Visible Check box beside tool area iView in the frame work page.
Save the changes and refresh the page..
I made the setting,The tool area is not visible in priview...
But when i logged in as test user it is still there
How can i proceed

Hi,
Steps need to for Merging the search tool Area and Mast head iview,
1. copy the search area properties from the tool area and paste the properties in masthead property file.
2. copy the tool area jar in the lib folder of the tool area par and paste that in to lib folder of masthead par.
3. copy the search area variables and methods from the tool area jsp and paste variables and methods in masthead HeaderiView.jsp file.
4. copy the search area properties from the tool area portalapp xml and paste the properties in masthead portalapp xml file.
Check these steps are done.i hope this will help u.

I am running BPA on My Exchange 2010 VM (Server 2008 R2 VM on Hyper-V) and get the following errors:
The 'Services' string type value located in 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Setup\Services' registry key is missing or inaccessible. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service won't start. As a result, all services that depend
on this service won't be able to start
Exchange server [Exchange Server FQDN] is a virtual machine but the additional tools are not installed. This configuration is not supported. Install Virtual Machine Additions for this guest.
Problem is that, for the first, that Key exists and the service is actually running fine. And for the second my VM tools are already installed.
Hopefully someone out there has had the same issue and can assist.

Make sure the Information Store service is in Starting status,
Automatic startup type and works well, as a test we can try to
restart the Infroamtion Store service and verify the service works well.

Registry Editor, find the registry key “Services” under “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Setup”, its value is “C:\Program
files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14”(default install location), please check your registry, make sure the key “Services” exist and value is the Exchange Server install location and the

Hello Raj,
It seems that this user does not have proper authorization to perform Data Migration.
You need to go to the WorkCenter View Assignment for this user under his access rights & need to assign him the workcenter "Business Configuration" & under it, also assign him relevant access to Data Migration.
This shall fix the issue & the user shall not get this error while trying to perform Data Migration.
Steps:
1. Go to Workcneter: "Application and User Management => Business Users => Seerach for the suer who gets this error => Edit-> Access Rights => Click on Workcenter view Assignment tab & assign the above mentioned worokcenter access and save."

How to add a custom iview to the portal tool area

Hello:
We want to add some simple text like date,day and some
more things to the portal tool area, where a KM search
box, and collobaration link exists now.
I tried to look up for the tool area iview par file, but
only found, *.ept file only which doesn't contain any
code.
I hope atleast some of the clients might have tried this.

2)import it into eclipse with another name, i.e. com.customer.portal.navigation.toolarea
3) modify as you need the jsp contained in it in order to satisfy your requirements.
4) deploy the par into the portal and create a new iview based on it.
5) put this iview into the framework page you want to use, hiding/deleting standard toolbar
these steps are OK if you want simply modify the layout of the toolbar, you cannot modify the logic behind it.
If you need to do that, for example add some buttons which perform some custom actions, you have to develop a new component from scratch using the portal development paradigms.

RemovingDisabling Portal Tool Area

We currently want to increase the portal body size, and do not have TREX running, so we are wanting to remove\disable the Portal Tool Area (removing Search Field Box, Search, and Advance Search from Portal Outer Frame. Instead of blanking out values within Theme Editor for Portal Tool Area, can we just disable Portal Tool Area globally to increase the portal body size?

You can open the default framework page from Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> End User Content -> Standard Portal Users -> Default Framework Page. Inside that, Uncheck the visiblity check box of tool bar iView. That should do.

"Portal tools area keeps apearing" EP 6.0 SP 10

We have made the Portal tool area invisible in our Portal by making it invisible in "content provided by SAP -> end user content -> Standard Portal users -> Default framework Page" by "unticking" the visible attribute for iView "tool area".
However once per week it keeps reappearing although no manual changes have been made to the Default framework page.
Any ideas to what that can be caused by - e.g. by some standard Portal restore job?!

I would recommend that changes related to portal desktops etc should always be done by making copies to the original SAP object, renaming them & storing them in your folders and them modifying them so that after patches/upgrades they do not keep changing and you dont have rework a lot and restoring the original.
I hope this would solve your problem..
Let me know if you have any other queries. Also tell me if you were using the SAP Framework page or have u created a copy of the original and applied that in your theme/rule..?

Top leven navigation and Tool area dissapear after upgrading SP19

Hi all,
we have upgraded the J2EE engine and the EP to the SP19 and when we enter the Portal, the top level navigation and tool area have dissapear.
It could be some parameter wrong or an error during the upgrading?

Reason and Prerequisites:
The problem is caused by a program error.
This note applies to NW04S SP8 - SP10 and NW04 SP16 - SP19.
Solution:
The problem is fixed with NW04S SP11 and NW04 SP20.
The reason for the problem are missing ACLs that are normally created automatically when roles are imported.
In order to resolve this problem please do the following steps;
1 - Logon to the Portal with user having "super admin" rights.
2 - Replace in URL the "/irj/portal" part with the following /irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.admin.acleditor.listPermissions.
This starts a component that lists all permissions in the PCD. It might take some time until it is finished.
3 - Please scroll all the way to the bottom of the list. If there is a botton "fix inner acl", click the button. The missing permissions for the roles will be created. If there is no such button, the permissions are OK. The reason for the symptom is something else then.

Problem with Tools Area iView Creation - Help Needed.

Hi Guys,
I am having a small problem with the Tool Area Par, I downloaded the Par and have edited it and then redeployed it on the Portal, however when I am creating an iView I am getting the Following error:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
iView : pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/defaultDesktop/frameworkPages/frameworkpage/com.sap.portal.toolAreaiView
Component Name : null
Page could not create the iView.
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Can anyone suggest me what could be wrong and why I am not able to see the Iview and why I get this exception.
