Portal Error Message

Don't know if this is the rght place to ask, but I keep getting an error when I try to add an existing content area to a page in Portal. That is, instead of adding a content area successfully to a region on the Portal page, I get an error message (an text page). Can you identify why I can't add the content area? Is something not set up corectly on the Oracle/Portal server?
The error page reads as follows:

  • Portal Error Messages Displaying on Portal Page on Top

I'm getting error messages printed out on top of my portal pages (portal pages do show). For example,
    Error: The listener returned the following Message: 302 FoundHTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 23:39:39 GMT Cache-Control: private Server: Oracle9iAS/9.0.2 Oracle HTTP Server Oracle9iAS-Web-Cache/9.0.2.0.0 (N) Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Connection: Close

    Thanks

  • Help with Oracle AS Portal Error Messages

    Hi
Our Application basically consists of a number of Reports which display data from a database, and Forms which will allow the insert of data in the table that the form is based on...
The application is used by business users.
I need assistance with the error messages that appear on Oracle Portal if something goes wrong - wrong data entered on a form for the database table, some error with a trigger that is called on the table where data is being inserted/ updated etc...
Currently, when an error occurs on the form (when you are trying to insert data into the database), the following errors can appear (this is an example of the actual format.)
    Error: Internal error (WWC-00006)
An unexpected error occurred: ORA-20001: aft person ins
    ORA-06512: at "RFS.RFS_AFT_INS", line 41
ORA-12899: value too large for column "RFS"."RFS_PERSON"."USER_ID" (actual: 22, maximum: 20)
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'RFS.RFS_AFT_INS' (WWV-16016)
While this error will tell a developer what to do, it will not really tell an end user what the problem is...
I have started to edit the functions/ procedures that are used/ triggered from the forms to display a message in more or less the following format.
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20001,'PLEASE NOTE: There is no XXX data for the XXX used. Please contact your administrator to assist.',TRUE);
What I want to know is, by changing the functions on the database etc, will I be catering for the errors, and will the message that I create be displayed to the user, or will they still see the original error message above?
Are there ways to display a more user-friendly error, even if just to say "Contact your administrator..." or something?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

By editing the default error messages, there is a risk the next patch or patch set to overwrite your customizations. A better approach would be to create custom error page(s) for Portal forms/reports.
Please refer to Metalink Note: 157132.1 How to Create a Custom Error Page for Portal Form.
    Thanks.

  • Customize standard portal error message

    Hi,
How to customize below sap standard error message with meaningful user defined message.
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException
    Appreciate your quick help.
    Thank you,
    dev

    Hi Dev,
In order to customize the error message, you'll have to catch the exception in your WD component.
Please use Try Catch Block and there within the catch block you can specify your custom error message.

  • Customize Portal Error Messages

EP 6.0- After creating a user's id and password, they are directed to the change password screen (changePasswordPage.jsp).  If user incorrectly enters password, the sap error is 'user authentication failure'.  Can we change the error to a customized message.  Please advise.

This document should help (scroll down to the section on Adding Language Dependent Texts) - you have to modify the text in a properties file located within the PAR file)

  • Customize Error Message Page

Does anybody know how to customize Portal Error Message Page?
    Thanks

This is documented in the Portal admin guides.
Make a copy of the standard error page (in the navigator) then change the portal configuration (in builder) and tell it to use your own page.

  • Customizing Portal Error Page?

Is there a way to customize the look and feel of Portal Error Pages?

I found the section of Portal Configuration document 4.3.7 that shows how to set a global Error Message Page. However, it utilizes the / Administration Portlets / Portal / Error Message Portlet
Is there a way to modify this portlet? I'm thinking it's a PLSQL portlet. Does anyone know where (what package/procedure/function) it resides in the PORTAL schema?

  • Error message while displaying a Workbook in Portal

    Hello,
We have a Workbook with 5 Queries in ech sheet. When we open the Query from Portal it displays the error message that
    1. Query was changed! Characterisitc no longer exists
    2. Invalid filter on CUST_SD: Filter changed
I opned the Workbook directly from Analyzer and it did not display the error message.
Thus it seems to be a change required in Portal side or may be some property of the Workbook.
Please let me know your opinion to fix the error.
    Regards,
    Nitin S.

Can you define "sometimes" a bit more?
Is it after a number of runs of a report?
Is it on a particular report?
Is it after you do certain operations on the report (paging, zooming, dill down, print, etc., etc.)?
Can you duplicate the issue if you isolate the report to a new test app?
Did you happen to notice if the issue existed prior to FP 3.5?
Is this on your dev computer or a client computer?
    OS?

  • Custom Error message in portal

    HI Experts,
I trying to implement cutom error messages in portal. By Following the below link.
As of now I trying to implement it for error code "500".
    <error-page>
                 <error-code>500</error-code>
                 <location>/Customerrors/500.html</location>
           </error-page>
    </web-app>
The above code I pasted in web.xml. 500.html is there in customerrors folder. I have also restrated the system.
when I log in to portal system still I could see standard message coming for "500" code error not the custom one from 500.html.
    Iam using EP7.0 EHP1 .
    Thanks
    Surender Singh Dahiya

    Surender,
I guess it should work in the similar fashion. However, I do not have access to a portal system now. Will try testing the scenario soon and keep you posted.
    Cheers!
