Portal Favorites displaying as Icons

Hi,
I'm currently trying to replace the textual links within the portal favorites with icons (Image + Link).
Anyone ever done this before or has any súggestion?
Your help is very appreciated.
Regards

Hi,
The Portal favourites iview generally uses LinkListExplorer as Layout set. If you want to display icon then you need to modify the layout set by duplicating the standard layoutset for safe side.
You also need to change the Collection render settings.

  • Problem with display/layout of Portal-Favorites

    Hi community
I've got a little display problem of the Favorites iView in the Portal.
Below you can see three different screenshots of the Portal Favorites. Please disregard the Links itself, the problem is in the border/layout of the whole thing.
    [Screenshot|http://www.schuess.net/images/Unbenannt.jpg]
The first picture shows the problem first hand.
In the second picture you can even see that the Favorites seem to be misplaced by 5px. Perhaps they have an absolute position to the browser window?
The third screenshot is the result of setting a border of 5px in the Theme Editor under
Tree -> Border. That's not as intended because a) theres this little 1px-line on the top-left and b) the tree-border stops at the end of the tree nodes.
Please tell me how I can make the Favorites-iView flush or which setting I have to change.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

    Hi dear reader
    My problem is solved.
The Favorites-iView-Property "Isolation Method" had to be changed from "URL" to "Embedded".
    Now it looks smooth
    Try on

  • Portal favorites not displaying the iview.

    Hi Team,
We have a home role with a welcome page which is the first role to be displayed to every user logged in to portal.
Now we have enabled the option "Add to Portal favorites" to the portal objects. So when a report (BI / Bo report) is added to the portal favorites we are able to see the report added to the portal favorites iview. But when we try to access the report directly from portal favorites the link is navigating to the exact report path but not displaying the report instead it is displaying the welcome page of the HOME role.
When i try to add Identity management iview of the User admin to the portal favorites  and try to aceess it from Portal favorites iview, it navigates to the identity management page but the welcome page is displayed instead of the identity management iview.
Can you please let me know a fix for this.
    regards
    Bharat

    Hi Team,
Any ideas on this issue will be very helpful

  • How can i add a new link to Portal favorites?

    Hi,
I have created a portal application and configured it to a porta frame work page byy adding iViews and portal pages.
I would like to display an iView as a link in the  portal favorites. I have added it to portal favorites as related link. But nothing is displayed in the portal favorites when i logged in as application user.
How can i add a link to the created iView just like  the "DeveloperContent" link shown in portal favorites when we login as portal administrator?
    Your help and suggestions solicited...
    Best regards,
    Sudheesh

    Hi Sudheesh,
The Related Links option is for Content Administrators to add links that they think will be useful for a certain page or iView...an end user can't add their own links to the Related Links iView. Also, you don't need Knowledge Management installed in the Portal for the Related Links iView to work. Also, Related Links will be available only on the pages/iViews that the Content Administrator has created them.
Read more about Related Links here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/1d37600aa111d7b84700047582c9f7/frameset.htm
Portal Favorites is a nice option for end users to decide which iViews or pages they would like to be available from every Portal page.
To open new iViews/pages in a new window, rather than in the current Content Area, adjust the Workprotect mode of the portal (either the user can do it for their preference or the Administrator can do it for everyone):

  • How to see the iview in portal favorite

    Hi,
It is possible to see the iview in portal favorite without giving content admin role. How to add the iview created in portal to display in portal favorite.
    Thanks,
    Kundan

    Hi,
Your question is not very clear for me....According to my understanding i am replying u.
Portal favourites is itself an iview.
If u want to show some other iview in place of Portal favourites then you need to do some changes in your framework page.
Go to content admin and go to your framework page ---> select Desktop Innner Page
then u can see Portal favourites iview there.
If u want to show some ivew in  place of portal favourites, then delete Portal favourites and add the iview which u want to display.

  • Portal Favorites when using Application Integration

    Hi,
We have implemented application integration for BW for rendering reports and display in portal. We have BI Java portal where the reports run and user portal where the rendered report gets diplayed. This has been achieved through Application Integration for BI Java.
When the user saves the report, its getting saved on BI Java Portal Favorites. So the user is not able to see it. To resolve this we have followed the below steps:
    1. Created a remote iView in user portal which points to the Portal Favorites iView in BI Java portal -- using this we are able to see the user saved favorites in user portal
    2. Renamed the BEx Web(ID:bex) iView in user portal and created a remote bex iView which points to the BEx Web iView in BI Java portal - When I preview it, it displays the prototype properly
Now when I click on the favorite links, those reports were not running. Only the bex prototype page is coming up.
When a report is saved its bookmarkId is saved on KM user account in BI Java portal. From there I took the bookmarkId and added to 'application parameters' property value for bex remote iView in user portal. This made the report to run on BI Java and render the report on user portal. But when I click on the favorites link in user portal, it is not running the report.
Does someone has any suggestion on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Archana

I was able to resolve this by creating a remote iView in user portal for the Portal Favorites iView from BI Java portal. And the remote iView created for the bex, we changed one iView property ‘Parameters Forwarded to Remote Application’ to ‘*’ which resolved the issue.
    Thanks,
    Archana

  • How to open portal favorites in a new window?

    Hi,
we want that when a user clics in a portal favorites link, the iview gets opened in a new window.
I have been searching in the forums and tried all the "solutions" but none of them worked,
    I tried:
    - Setting the portal favorites iview property ¨Launch in new window : display in a headerless portal window¨
    - Tried setting the parameter ¨Targe Window Type: blank¨ in the collection renderer of the layout set of the favorites iview
    any hints?
    (using EP 7.0 SPS 20)
    best regards,
    Marco.

    Hi Marco,
I have checked this issue and there it is not possible to force the
iview which are opening portal content or portal pages as this is
    hardcoded.
In PortalFavorites iView, portal pages are opening always in the portal
area, when iView is in the portal area, or into another window, when the
iView is called as standalone ( see 'Organize Entries' link from tray
    option).
So there is no way to open into a new window portal pages direct from
Portal Favorites. This works as designs unfortunately .

  • Created Folders in portal favorites iView automaticly open

    Hi,
if we create new folders in the iView portal favorites, the folders are automaticly open! Does anybody know how to change that, so that the folders are closed, when we open the iView? I tried to change the Layout Set "portalfavoritesexplorer", but I didn't get forward!
    Regards,
    Andy

    Hello,
Check in the properties of your Favorites iview, that the parameter "Layout Set" is set to "PortalFavoritesExplorer" and the parameter "Layout Set Mode" is set to "force".
Now change the PortalFavoritesCollectionRenderer parameter Initial displayed tree level = 1.
Refresh your browser and login again.  You should see the changes take effect.
    Regards,
    Sumner

  • Portal Favorites iview always appear in detailed navigation

    Hello,
I have a problem regarding the Detailed Navigation with the Portal Favorites iview.
The iview always appears in the Detailed Navigation, although the only thing it shows is the message "there are no items to display" (meaning that there are no favorites). This causes the detailed navigation to always appear even when there is no need for it (no navigation links and no other content attached to it).
I tried removing the Portal Favorites iview (because we don't use that iview in the portal and have no need for it) from the innerpage of the default framework page, and it works, but after the next restart of the portal, the iview returns.
Is there any way to remove it completely so that it won't appear again?
    We're running EP7 SP14.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tal.

    Hi,
Create a new framework page by creating a delta link of the original page and then modify that framework page.
Also you will have to create a new portal desktop and use the modified page and also set the desktop rules accordingly.
    Thanks,
    GLM

  • Difference between "Favorites"- & "Portal Favorites"-iView

    Hi SDN
Can anybody tell me the difference between the km-iView "Favorites" and "Portal Favorites"?
Also, when I enable the "Favorites"-iView a caption between the Favorites-entries and the Tray is added. How can I remove this?
And: The layout of the Favorites-iView-entries is different from those of the Portal-Favorites-iView-entries (the space between the list-dot and the text). It seems not to be affected the same way by the Complex Items -> Tree settings in Theme Editor.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

As I found out the LayoutSet-Setting is responsible for the display.
In Favorites-iView the default LayoutSet was LinkListExplorer. After I changed it to PortalFavoritesExplorer the space between dot-and-text vanished along with the "Favorites"-caption - but sadly the "Organize Entries" Link on the bottom disappeared, too...
I think I have to play around a bit with LayoutSets
Main parts of the question already answered...
What still remains is the question about the acutal difference between these iViews.

  • Portal Favorites Bad Request Invalid URL

    Recently upgraded from EP6.0 SP13 to SP16.
When selecting a link, folder or document from within Portal Favorites - Bad Request Invalid URL error is displayed.
I have changed the Isolation Mode to URL on Portal Favorites iView - but this has not fixed the problem.
    Any thoughts?

Probelm is fixed as per SAP Note 815344.
Go to the definition of the affected iViews in the Portal Content Catalog. You can find the following parameters there: 'Path to initially displayed Folder' and 'path to root folder for navigation'.
In 'path to initially displayed folder', replace the < character with %3c and > with %3e. DO not change the second parameter.

  • Background of Portal Favorites

    Hi All,
I'm currently changing the layout of my portal.
Does anybody know how i can change the background color of the Portal Favorites?
I'm posting the question here since Portal Favorites is a KM iView.
I have tried change the color through the portal theme but it is not possible.
    Best Regards
    Rasmus Stokholm

    Rasmus -
I think that the background colour of the Portal Favorites iView is controlled by the iView settings in the theme editor.  I've previewed the Portal Favorites iView in stand alone mode, and it also appears as though some settings in the navigation area may be controlling the display.
I'm including the PCD location of the portal favorites iView for you as well.
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/iViews/com.sap.km.iviews/com.sap.km.PortalFavorites
Finally, this may seem like a silly question to you, but have you cleared the browser and portal cache?  This is especially important if you are working in a multi-server environment.
    Regards,
    Kyle

  • How to delete Portal Favorites  and Services

    Hi Friends,
I am getting one issue in portal page.
In left side i am getting Services and Portal Favorites.
I dont want to display these two options in Portal page itself.
PLease tell how to delete these two options in Portal page.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kumar

Assign yourself with Administrator role and follow these steps:
    1. Go to Content Admin -> Portal Content -> Portal Users -> Standard Portal Users -> FrameworkPage. Copy the FrameworkPage and give some custom name to it.
    2. In the new Framework Page go to InnerPage -> Portal Favorites and hide it.
    3. Create a Desktop in System Administration -> Portal Display and assign the 'Theme' and 'Custom Framework page' to the Desktop.
    3. Add a Maste Rule so that the required Users or Roles take the 'Custom Desktop'.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • How to Remove Portal Favorites completely

    Hi All,
I need to remove Portal Favorites completely in my portal, with help of Default Frame Work page i did that one, but when i am restarting portal, i am getting Portal Favorites automatically, so i need to remove completely Portal Favorites in my portal.
Please let me know the solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Abhi.

    Hi Abhi,
The approach what you used is correct one remove the portal favorite iview from inner page of framework.. but i hope that you are not making changes in the standard Portal framework, Better copy the standard framework to your working folder do  changes and assingn it to group or user using Desktop display rules.
One more thing if you have already done the above steps then i think you are doing changes on the wrong framework page please cross check that from Desktop display rules.
Also in portal framework->top level navigation iview -> set the property of " Show add to portal favorites" option to NO so that user can't able to add also.
