Portal Favorites iview always appear in detailed navigation

Hello,
I have a problem regarding the Detailed Navigation with the Portal Favorites iview.
The iview always appears in the Detailed Navigation, although the only thing it shows is the message "there are no items to display" (meaning that there are no favorites). This causes the detailed navigation to always appear even when there is no need for it (no navigation links and no other content attached to it).
I tried removing the Portal Favorites iview (because we don't use that iview in the portal and have no need for it) from the innerpage of the default framework page, and it works, but after the next restart of the portal, the iview returns.
Is there any way to remove it completely so that it won't appear again?
We're running EP7 SP14.
Thanks in advance,
Tal.

Hi,
Create a new framework page by creating a delta link of the original page and then modify that framework page.
Also you will have to create a new portal desktop and use the modified page and also set the desktop rules accordingly.
Thanks,

  • Difference between "Favorites"- & "Portal Favorites"-iView

    Hi SDN
Can anybody tell me the difference between the km-iView "Favorites" and "Portal Favorites"?
Also, when I enable the "Favorites"-iView a caption between the Favorites-entries and the Tray is added. How can I remove this?
And: The layout of the Favorites-iView-entries is different from those of the Portal-Favorites-iView-entries (the space between the list-dot and the text). It seems not to be affected the same way by the Complex Items -> Tree settings in Theme Editor.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

As I found out the LayoutSet-Setting is responsible for the display.
In Favorites-iView the default LayoutSet was LinkListExplorer. After I changed it to PortalFavoritesExplorer the space between dot-and-text vanished along with the "Favorites"-caption - but sadly the "Organize Entries" Link on the bottom disappeared, too...
I think I have to play around a bit with LayoutSets
Main parts of the question already answered...
What still remains is the question about the acutal difference between these iViews.

  • The Use of Folders in Portal Favorites iView

I have enabled the Portal Favourites and one of the functionality this provides is to create Folders within Favourites.  The user can create links in the folders to organise their favourites.  I am experiencing problems adding folders, by clicking on the 'Folder Name' an error occurs stating the page can not be found. I am unable to set the property of 'Clicking Folder Name launches First Node' to 'False without clearing'.
When adding a folder to the favourites I get the 'page can not be found' error.  If any one has resolved a similar issue could you please inform me how:
    a) After you have created a folder, the Portal Page appears? (without the 'page cannot be displaye' error)
    b) How to Enable the 'Clicking Folder Name Launches First Node' setting
    c) When opening the portal page the Folder Favourites should appear collapsed (at the moment the folder and contents appear expanded).
    Thanks

    Hello,
Check in the properties of your Favorites iview, that the parameter "Layout Set" is set to "PortalFavoritesExplorer" and the parameter "Layout Set Mode" is set to "force".
Now change the PortalFavoritesCollectionRenderer parameter Initial displayed tree level = 1.
Refresh your browser and login again.  You should see the changes take effect.

  • Hide 'Portal Favorites' iView

    Hi Guys,
I know to hide the Portal Favourites iView on everypage, you can:
Content Admin > Portal Conten » Portal Users » Standard Portal Users » FrameworkPage (Edit Object) » InnerPage (Edit) » Portal Favorites (uncheck the visible checkbox)
It did works, the favourites iView is gone. However, the funny thing is after a stopsap JC00 and startsap JC00, the favourite iview reappears. I rechecked the Portal Favourites checkbox and went back to checked!! (seems that after a reboot the settings is gone). Anyone have any resolutions?

    Roger,
I guess you might be having a folder of your own where you put all the iviews roles or worksets that you are creating, create a copy of the Default framework in this folder.
But, once you have done that you will have to alter your MASTER RULE and point the framework page to the one you have created.
[Editing the master rule for new framework and Desktop|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6483a890-0201-0010-48a6-b6e595111efe]

  • Add iView to Portal favorites

    Hi,
I need to add some iViews to portal favorites area, that means the portal favorites must be a static list of portal favorites for a group of people.
Is this possible in EP v.7.0?

    Hi,
The Portal favorites iView is just a KM navigation iView with layoutset: PortalFavoritesExplorer and that points to the folder: /alias/userhome/<user.id>/favorites.
So you can do with it whatever you like. Copy it, change the folder it points to etc..

  • KM Doc iView-How the content can be displayed in detailed navigation area

    Hi Experts,
I have doubt related with KM Document iView.
I have created a HTML page in KM, which will hold 2 links. Give names to these links and href as follows.
    Link1: http://<host>:<port>/irj/portal/*
    Link2: http://<host>:<port>/irj/portal/*
I have created KM Document iView (ABC) and provided path to document of above HTML page.
Then I opened my role, created folder inside, and added KM Document iView (ABC). Then I opened the properties of this iView in role and change the property, Initial state as Open,
I had then expected that the KM document iView (ABC) content Link1 and Link2 to appear in detail navigation area.
It is not happening. Can you please let me know what is going wrong here
In other words can you please let me know how I can ensure that
Link1 Link2 should appear in detailed navigation area side by side.
    Thanks

    Hi Frank,
Thanks. But this has already been implemented in one project. I have seen this. In that project the detailed navigation area looks like as shown below. The image link and iview link appear in one line
    'jpg image1' 'iviewLink1'
    'jpg image2' 'iviewLink2'
    'jpg image3' 'iviewLink3'
    'jpg image4' 'iviewLink4'
When the user clicks on jpg image, one iview gets open. When user clicks on iview link other iview gets open.
I tried a lot. But, I am unable to do this.
Can it be done using custom PAR file or Visual composer?
Will appreciate if you can help.
    Thanks
    Brian

  • Portal favorites not displaying the iview.

    Hi Team,
We have a home role with a welcome page which is the first role to be displayed to every user logged in to portal.
Now we have enabled the option "Add to Portal favorites" to the portal objects. So when a report (BI / Bo report) is added to the portal favorites we are able to see the report added to the portal favorites iview. But when we try to access the report directly from portal favorites the link is navigating to the exact report path but not displaying the report instead it is displaying the welcome page of the HOME role.
When i try to add Identity management iview of the User admin to the portal favorites  and try to aceess it from Portal favorites iview, it navigates to the identity management page but the welcome page is displayed instead of the identity management iview.
Can you please let me know a fix for this.
    regards
    Bharat

    Hi Team,
Any ideas on this issue will be very helpful

In our system, when a user login into portal. The detailed navigation is opened and all the items in the detailed navigation are shown, this functionality my user require. When he/she click on the program or item in the detailed navigation. That program is opened in the content area.  When a program is opend in content area, detailed navigation is still open.
