Portal Favorites "Move" Command

Hi, When a user is organizing their favorites and select option "Move" they get a dialog that presents the folders in the "Entry Points" Folder.  I'd like to override this move dialog so they only have visibility to their own favorites folder.
Can anyone direct me how to override the "Move" layout set that is presented?
Thanks!

I understand I shouldn't change the system provided move object.  Can you tell me the best way to do add this new move command using best practice?  Below is my best guess.
Copy command move to move_1 and change to desired layout
Copy DetailsActionsGroup to DetailsActionsGroup_1 and replace move with move_1
Copy DetailsGroup to DetailsGroup_1 and replace DetailsActionsGroup with DetailsActionsGroup_1
Replace move with move_1 in DetailsGroup_1
Copy desired layoutset to layoutset_1 and change "Commands for the details menu" to DetailsGroup_1
Thanks again for your valuable help!

  • Move/ copy Portal favorites from one user to another user

    Hi,
I got a request asking that one of the user have Portal favorites in his account and need to be copied to other users accounts (more than one). How is this possible? please advice and appreciated with the points.
    Thanks,
    Pandu

    Hi Pandu,
This is possible in several ways:
1.) Manually: The favorites are stored under \userhome\<username>\favorites. The "userhome" repository is not visible by default, you'd have to change this, then you could, e.g. with an AdminExplorer, access the favorites in question and copy them to other favorites directories (of other users).
2.) Automatically: You'd have to implement some component which copies the favorites to other favorites folders of other users programatically.
    Hope it helps

  • Portal favorites doesn't work after role change

    Dear all,
we encounter the following problem in our EP:
We have an WAD-Template stored in a folder. If a user is assigned to a specific portal role, he can see and execute the report. While executing he is allowed to store the report in his personal portal favorites.
Last week we joined three old portal roles (names: OLD_A, OLD_B and OLD_C) to a new one NEW_A containing all reports of OLD_A, OLD_B and OLD_C. After that we assigned the new role NEW_A to all users formerly assigned to at least one of OLD_A, OLD_B or OLD_C. In addition we unassigned the users from the old roles.
As a consequence the users now see all the reports of the old roles in their portal menu (as they are stored now in NEW_A) BUT the old favorites saved before the role change could not be opened anymore. The following error message appears:
"Page not found or not available"
We found out so far, that the favorite stores the combination of role and iview (in this case OLD_A and the iview-name). If the role changes the pcd-link is different.
Does anyone know this behaviour? How can we change the access pcd-link in the content management manually or by script/program?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Volker Schmitt

Yes I saw this thread too. However, I think viveknidhi solution is pointless for us since we can not perform this operation manualy for each favorite...
For the moment, based on what I red on forums and sap documentations, there is no workaround. Portal favorites are hardcoded pcd urls to the navigation node. If we modify our roles we will loose related favorites since the navigation node will change.
I hope you will find a solution to move forward.

  • Change the name from Portal Favorites to Portal Favourites

    Hi,
There is a requirement that where ever in Portal, the name of Portal Favorites should be changed to Portal Favourites.
So when I add something to Portal Favorites in Portal, then there we get Organize Entries in the context menu and opening this it will open a pop-up having name as Favorites.
I searched and come to know that this is coming from a folder under KM Content /userhome/<portal-userid>/Favorites.
If I changes the name Favorites to Favourites then it reflects to that corresponding id, but changing from here for every portal-userid will be very difficult.
Can someone tell how we can change on global basis for every portal user.
    Regards,
    Deep Nain Kundra

    Hi there,
The iView called "Favorites" in Content Provided by SAP > End User Content > Standard Portal Users > iViews > com.sap.km.iviews points to a KM folder which you can find in Content Administration > KM Content > root > Entry Points > Favorites. You can change the name of this folder: with Entry Points > Favorites selected choose Folder > Details and then Settings > Properties, set the name to whatever you like and click Save.
Now this isn't 100% effective but if a user accesses the Organize Entries command from the Favorites context menu, they will now see your custom folder name. A preview of the iView will show the same.
What this doesn't do is change the name of the Entry Point, so a user looking under Documents will still see the heading "Favorites". According to SAP Help this can be changed by creating a custom bundle file, but despite following the steps detailed in [Changing Labels and Symbols for Entry Points|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/36/8b6b4066d9bf49e10000000a1550b0/content.htm] I have not had success with this.

  • Problem with display/layout of Portal-Favorites

    Hi community
I've got a little display problem of the Favorites iView in the Portal.
Below you can see three different screenshots of the Portal Favorites. Please disregard the Links itself, the problem is in the border/layout of the whole thing.
    [Screenshot|http://www.schuess.net/images/Unbenannt.jpg]
The first picture shows the problem first hand.
In the second picture you can even see that the Favorites seem to be misplaced by 5px. Perhaps they have an absolute position to the browser window?
The third screenshot is the result of setting a border of 5px in the Theme Editor under
Tree -> Border. That's not as intended because a) theres this little 1px-line on the top-left and b) the tree-border stops at the end of the tree nodes.
Please tell me how I can make the Favorites-iView flush or which setting I have to change.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

    Hi dear reader
    My problem is solved.
The Favorites-iView-Property "Isolation Method" had to be changed from "URL" to "Embedded".
    Now it looks smooth
    Try on

  • Portal favorites open in same window after upgrade

    Dear Experts,
After upgrade Portal from EP 7.0.1 SP3 TO SP8 KMC Patch 1,  we are facing some issues, the issue is, clicking on the favorites link opens the page in the same window. But in the page properties we have mentioned to open in a new window and via detailed navigation it is opening in the new window only. But when we add this page in portal favorites and click on the link from favorites, it is opening in the same screen.
    Thanks,
    Jay

Hi Guys. Thanks so much for replying.
Cedric - I'm in 08. I posted in the 06 forum first by mistake. And I basically don't know "how" I built the site. I just kind of poked around like I usually do, trial by many errors.
Roddy - I've had the folder and index on my desktop. I hadn't previously uploaded the index and just did so but nothing's changed. My host company doesn't have an actual control panel. I have a feeling it's not a great one. At least for a beginner. Is there anything on their site I should be looking for?
Cyclo - I hadn't nothiced the Hear button working correctly, since I haven't actually been working there yet! You're right it works. I guess I do have to rebuild the text buttons as you say. I guess this is the down fall of not knowing HTML.
I really appreciate all the input folks.

  • Error in viewing reports through Portal favorites.

    Hello Everyone,
I am facing some issue in viewing reports in my portal.
I have kept some of my reports as portal favorites, but when i try to open those reports it is giving me an error saying page cannot be found or it may be unavailable.
    Please Help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Atul Dumbre

    Hi Atul,
Kindly check in the report's external link in KM.What is the iView its using?
then check in content administration whether that particular iview is available or not?
If that iView is not available then change the link.then it should work.

  • How can i add a new link to Portal favorites?

    Hi,
I have created a portal application and configured it to a porta frame work page byy adding iViews and portal pages.
I would like to display an iView as a link in the  portal favorites. I have added it to portal favorites as related link. But nothing is displayed in the portal favorites when i logged in as application user.
How can i add a link to the created iView just like  the "DeveloperContent" link shown in portal favorites when we login as portal administrator?
    Your help and suggestions solicited...
    Best regards,
    Sudheesh

    Hi Sudheesh,
The Related Links option is for Content Administrators to add links that they think will be useful for a certain page or iView...an end user can't add their own links to the Related Links iView. Also, you don't need Knowledge Management installed in the Portal for the Related Links iView to work. Also, Related Links will be available only on the pages/iViews that the Content Administrator has created them.
Read more about Related Links here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/1d37600aa111d7b84700047582c9f7/frameset.htm
Portal Favorites is a nice option for end users to decide which iViews or pages they would like to be available from every Portal page.
To open new iViews/pages in a new window, rather than in the current Content Area, adjust the Workprotect mode of the portal (either the user can do it for their preference or the Administrator can do it for everyone):

  • How to edit the short navigation url in portal favorite folder in bulk

    Hi,
We have around 100-150 users who have added a specific url in their portal favorite section. This url  has changed now and we need to update the same for all the users. We tried using various search and replace tools by connecting using portaldrive. We even wrote a KM API which will do the search and replace. But both these programs are not able to change the .url files whih are created from KM. But if we create the same by portal drive we are able to find and replace.
    Regards,
    AJ

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the reply.
I guess you have wrongly interpreted the problem, let me more clear on this.
Currently we have around 150 users accessing the portal and suppose they have added a link named ABC with url http://www.abc.com in their favorites. Now if we need to change this url to new one, like http://www.xyz.com, then one solution is, go to Favorites folder of each user in userhome and change there manually. But in case of large no. of user database this will be a cumbersome task, so want to know that how to do bulk replace and find in KM. We have tried developing a KM api and also used a third party tool for the same but all in vain.
Can anyone pls suggest some other way ??
    Regards,
    AJ

  • How to see the iview in portal favorite

    Hi,
It is possible to see the iview in portal favorite without giving content admin role. How to add the iview created in portal to display in portal favorite.
    Thanks,
    Kundan

    Hi,
Your question is not very clear for me....According to my understanding i am replying u.
Portal favourites is itself an iview.
If u want to show some other iview in place of Portal favourites then you need to do some changes in your framework page.
Go to content admin and go to your framework page ---> select Desktop Innner Page
then u can see Portal favourites iview there.
If u want to show some ivew in  place of portal favourites, then delete Portal favourites and add the iview which u want to display.

  • "move" command doesn't work in case of files on network

I setup a theWatchFolder fold on network as Watch Folder. This works like when the folder on network gets a file, I'm notified via email and the file should move from watch folder (which is on network) to theDestinationFolder (which is also on another network). I used "move" command for that but it copies the files from the theWatchFolder to theDestinationFolder but doesn't move. And there, script shows error "An item with the same name already exists in this location."
    global theWatchedFolder
    global DestinationFolder
    set theWatchedFolder to choose folder
    set theDestinationFolder to choose folder
    on idle
        tell application "Finder"
set theDetectedItems to every item of theWatchedFolder
            repeat with aDetectedItem in theDetectedItems
                move aDetectedItem to the theDestinationFolder
            end repeat
        end tell
        if theDetectedItems ≠ {} then
            activate
display dialog "Files for cutout were detected and moved to your " & theDestinationFolder
            tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
set m to make new outgoing message with properties {subject:"Files For Cutout Received", content:"Hello there:
                Files for cutout received"}
                tell m
                    make new recipient with properties {email address:{name:"KK", address:"[email protected]"}}
                end tell
                send m
            end tell
        end if
        return 1
    end idle

    Hi H:
    Thanks for your help.
I opted the Option 1 from your script. When a file arrives in Watch Folder, the script still copies to the destination folder (instead of move) and sends email successfully, and this task repeats continuously. The script is as follows:
    global theWatchedFolder
    global theDestinationFolder
    set theWatchedFolder to choose folder
    set theDestinationFolder to choose folder
    on idle
              tell application "Finder"
set theDetectedItems to every item of theWatchedFolder
                        repeat with aDetectedItem in theDetectedItems
set a to aDetectedItem as alias
set b to (move a to theDestinationFolder with replacing) as alias
                                  if a ≠ b then
                                            tell current application
do shell script "rm -rf " & POSIX path of theWatchedFolder
                                            end tell
                                  end if
                        end repeat
              end tell
              if theDetectedItems ≠ {} then
      activate
display dialog "Files for cutout were detected and moved to => " & theDestinationFolder
                        tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
                                  set m to make new outgoing message with properties {subject:"Files For Cutout Received", content:"Hello there: Files for cutout received"}
                                  tell m
      make new recipient with properties {email address:{name:"KK", address:"[email protected]"}}
                                  end tell
      --open m
                                  send m
                        end tell
              end if
              return 1
    end idle

  • Urgent: SP9 installation always shows portal favorites

    Hi,
I have a problem with the detailed navigation area on my Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP9 installation: It's always visible and shows the portal favorites although there are NO items to show (both in the detailed navigation area and portal favorites area!)...
I think the problem "comes" with the last SP release!

    Hi Stefan,
I tryed the solution you said, but does not work.
Do I need to change the property only for "Desktop Innerpage" or is necessary for others objects too?
Another thing is that when I Try to change the property, I got this message:
putMetaAttribute failed for attributeId: com.sap.portal.navigation.ShowAddToFavorites metaAttrId: Inheritance - pcdAttribute not available.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
