Portal ignores my page access settings!

I've got a page based on a template.
I've added a tab and set up group only access to the tab. If I log in as a user who is not a member of the group, the user can see the tab ok! It happens for both tabs and sub-tabs.
I've tried detatching the page from the template but the problem remains!
Has anyone seen this before?

I have a similar problem. I added a tab to a page that has group access to the page. I removed all access to the tab, but when I log in as a member of the group, I can still see the tab. I want certain members of the group to see the tab, but not others.
I searched Metalink to see if this is a bug, and found one related bug #2689713, but it looks like it's for rel.2 and I'm on 3.0.9.8.4.
Any suggestions?

    I'm having a problem with specifying access settings on tabs.
    I've enabled "Enable Item Level Security" on the page properties.
    I've created a new tab on the page, which i've added view privilegies for a specific group, selected specify access settings and unselected "Display Tab To Public Users".
    When this is done, the page should only be wievable for members of the group i selected and myself.
    But this isn't happening. Users that aren't in the selected group can still view the tab.
    What is happening here?

    Are you sure that the users are not part of a group that is included in the group you gave access to on the tab?

    Ok - I figured it out myself as soon as I posted this question. I went to my IPad settings - not the Settings in the Pages app. Problem fixed.

  • I have a replacement Note 3.  My Vodafone SIM, which worked fine in the original, fails in the replacement.  When I try to access Settings, the menu briefly flashes, then the phone reverts to the home page.  Will a Factory Data Reset fix this?

    I have a Note 3 and a Vodafone SIM that are not playing well together. 
    The history is:
    I got my Note 3 over 2 years ago.  We visited Italy 2 years ago and I bought a Vodafone sim at a Vodafone outlet.  Everything worked perfectly during that trip and a subsequent trip to France.
    Last October, I had to replace the Note 3 because the camera was failing.  I had insurance, so the insurance company sent me a refurbished Note 3. When I tried to use the SIM last December, the Note 3 had problems. When I put the SIM in and started the Note 3, the phone recognized the sim (but gave me an error that, according to Verizon, is spurious).  I could make phone calls but I could not access the data network.  In order to access the data network, you have to go into Settings. More Settings, Mobile Networks and set the Access Point Name.
    With the replacement Note 3, I cannot access Settings.  As soon as I try to access Settings (with the Vodafone SIM installed), the Settings menu appears and then immediately the home screen comes up.  After working with Verizon for over an hour, I was able to get into Settings and set the access point name by booting into Safe mode.  But as soon as I rebooted into 'normal' mode, Settings failed and I could not access its menu (to turn on wifi, for example).  There are a couple of other apps that did the same thing - but I cannot remember which ones.
    I have talked to Vodafone - they have no clue.  I talked to a Samsung rep I ran into at Best Buy, he thought the Vodafone SIM might be corrupted.  And now a Verizon tech I talked to last week thinks it is a firmware problem on the phone and I should do a Factory Data Reset.
    Have you ever heard of this problem?  What do you think might be causing it?

    On2CO,  I'm glad you have reached out to us today. Thank you so much for the very detail description on what is going on with the device. Sounds like there might be an issue with an application that might be causing these issues. The reason I say that is, when the phone is in Safe Mode you are able to access the Settings screens with no issues. While in Safe Mode that does block all 3rd party applications from running on the phone. I would suggest on trying to back up the device and perform a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6-182Vuo (you would want to make sure to uncheck Automatic Restore in step 3). Once the reset is complete try to see if you can get into Settings. Then, I would recommend on adding 3rd party applications back on to the device one by one to see if we can find what app might be causing this issue.   • Page Accessibility

    I have a set up a page to be viewed by members of a specific group. I don't want it to be accessible to anyone outside of the group unless they are a content publisher or portal administrator.
    However I am finding that as a non-privileged user, I still have access to the page and can see its content.
    On the Access Tab for the Properties of the page, I have set
    Specify access Settings
    Enable Item Level Security
    The name of the group to have View privileges.
    The portal still lets me see both the link to the page and the contents of the page when I don't meet any of the criteria specified above.
    I don't want to have to apply item level security to every item on the page.
    In a portlet we use to provide dropdown menus for access to pages, the portlet sees the security restriction and does not include the link to the page, but if the user knows something about Oracle Portal, it is possible for him to get to the navigator, find the page, and the navigator even presents an Edit Action choice for the page. Fortunately, when the edit page is opened the user cannot change anything.
    The only thing that keeps a user from the page is not being a logged in/ authenticated user.
    Is there anything else that needs to be done? Is there something wrong possibly with how the portal is configured?

    Thanks, but I already checked these issues and just rechecked to make sure. The check box for Display Page to Public Users is off on the page and in the template, the radio button for specifying access settings is set so the inherit settings from the template is off, and I opened a new browser session instead of creating another window of the same one. The portal shows the new session as belonging to the non-privileged user.
    I have looked at other entries in the forum and it appears that similar problems have occurred in past versions of the portal, so I was hoping that someone might have overcome this issue previously. We have entered a TAR with Oracle, but we were hoping to find a more useful response than the "apply the latest patches and see if it is still broken", which we have been getting lately on other issues. We have and it is.

  • Guest Portal with EUP Page Only

    I have a use case to provide a guest portal with EUP page only. ie. user only needs to accept the agreement and they should be given internet access, without need to enter username/password or self service. Is there an easy way to achieve this on ISE 1.2?

    Hi Mark,
    Yes Guest Cert will need to be external. Because Guest Users if they have a non-corporate laptop for example will not have your Internal Company Certs installed in their browser (that you loaded onto ISE), so they cannot trust your internal Cert.
    If your open Firefox or IE under Options/Security View Certificates you will see a list, if its a Guest you will see well known public Certs like Geotrust, Verisign etc.
    For my setup I brought a GeoTrust cert and loaded this into ISE, this way Guests will always Trust the Geostrust ISE cert like https://guest.com for example and the login will appear and be trusted.

    I want to restrict access to the tab to specific users.
    I edit grant access in tab,select Specify Access Settings and
    then select user that I want him to see. And I don't mark the
    check box, Display Tab To Public Users. But when I access this
    page like the user that doesn't have privilege to see this tab
    page, I can see this tab page. Am I do anything wrong? Or
    forget something? Pleaseeeeee help me.

    i tested this with 9.0.4.1 and it works fine there.
    here is what i did.
    i granted user A view rights on the page the contains the tabs.
    then i edited the tab and explicitly set access settings for the tabs that i want user A have view rights. by default the tabs are inheriting the ACL information from the page. this means that you have to edit the access settings for every tab and change it from inheriting to explicit ACL definitions.
    after doing this user A could only see the tabs on this page where he has explicitly set the view permission.

    I was at my office yesterday and signed in on the local exchange.
    Today I am at ome, tried to log in and it is wanting password from the other exchange where I was at yesterday. I do not have password with me. I need to access some things. I cannot even access settings. How do I reset so I can access my iPad and accounts?

    OK....Reboot your iPad.  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Once it comes back up, see if you can connect to your home wifi and if you can, all should be good.

  • Portal not able to access BSP application in ECC?

    HI All,
    We have a BSP application on our ECC system and we have hosted it on Portal using the BSP iView.
    The ECC is behind the firewall and the Portal is available on internet.
    Now when a user tries to access that BSP application through Portal it shows 'Page cant be displayed' page.
    Please guide.

    Issue resolved.
    It was a role issue, we assigned the correct role to the user and issue got resolved.

    Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appeas), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. You can then do a backup

  • Contrast slider in Accessibility settings is not working properly!

    I have a 2012 macbook air base model 13" with OS X mavericks on it. Recently I discovered that there was a contrast slider under the Accessibility settings in system preferences. Since I found my display a little bit washed out (before you tell me to calibrate it, I did that several times!), I decided to bump that up half a notch to give my display a bit better contrast, and I was really pleased with the results.
    However, after a certain time in sleep mode and/or rebooting, the effect goes away. My display resets itself to the default contrast. If I open up system preferences and click on Accessibility, the contrast slider is still exactly where I set it, only it doesn't have any effect. If I click the slider, the contrast jumps up immediately to the point where the slider was. It seems to me that after a certain time in sleep mode (or maybe after multiple occasions of sleeping and waking up), OS X somehow forgets that I increased the contrast.
    It's probably a bug in OS X. Could you please fix this in your next patch? By the way, I already experienced the same thing with mountain lion! I waited for mavericks hoping that the update will get rid of the issue, but it didn't.
    So could you guys at apple please do something about this?

    Replacing "Failure" with "null" did not work. However, when I added few println statements, I came to know that, reRender is getting executed before, catch block is entered. Hennce, I am getting the value of the of hidden variable as empty.

  • Page Portlet Settings Not Propagating to User Pages

    Portal 9.0.2.6; Windows
    We upgraded to this version a few weeks ago, and we're still ironing out the kinks. We have quite a few pages that are exposed as portlets. I've edited (not customized) the page portlet settings, selecting specific regions of the page to display.
    When I spot check user's home pages, however, only the portlet headings show with no content. I've tried using the Reset to Defaults button in the customize form, but it doesn't work. Also, I imagine I'll have the same problems with any page-source portlets our users have added to their pages.
    Is there a sure-fire way to do the following:
    - Set the regions of a page to display when viewed in a portlet on a global level; and,
    - Propagate these regions throughout our entire user base

    I was able to figure out setting the global display on the default pages, but I'm still stymied at how to set the display for the page portlets for user customizations. In instances where users have added a page portlet, only the portlet header is displayed. I've done the following to try to fix the situation:
    - Deleted and regenerated the page portlets
    - Refreshed the repository
    - Refreshed the display for individual user pages
    Nothing seems to work. This is a major showstopper for us: we are scheduled to go "live" with the 9.0.2.6 version on Friday, and we do not want to ask users to recustomize their pages.

    Open Sysem Preferences from your Apple () menu top left in your screen then select the Firewall tab.
    Make sure the Firewall is turned off.
