Portal Language Iview

Hi,
I need to add portal language iview in the personalized link, Where can i get this language iview. This is required to change the language of the users.

Hi,
I am using EP 6.0 SP15
Personalized page has been modified earlier, now I need to add local language iview or page in the personalize link.
How to do it? If I check the standard role, I am able to see the local page, but when I check the delta link, It is not poing to the exact page, It is inhertited by defualt page and point to that page only.

Hi All,
I have Portal roles in two languages English and German. I set the browser language to check the translations. Initially the browser language is English. When we add the role to Portal Favourites and then change the browser language to German, the text in the Roles is changed but the text in the Portal Favourites iview still remains in English. Can anyone tell me how to translate the content of Portal Favourites iview?

Hi,
You can upload an Image or an HTML file in the KM Repository and then create an iview pointing to that file. Assign that to a role and and make the entry point YES.
Assign that role to user.
Whenever that user logs in the image will be displayed.

I have a question. I am changing the portal language.
1)Do I need to change back end language.

Hi Marcus,
We recently installed more Portal languages for an SSO project. This resulted in some IAC iViews no longer letting the user through to the backend over the ITS server if a language was used that was not available on the backend. The user would get a logon screen instead of the transaction with the language set to the portal language.
You can configure the iView to force a language that's available on the backend, but you can only select a single language here. If a user has a language selected in the Portal that would be available on the backend, then he will still be forced to work with that forced language...
So far I am unaware of a solution where you can pull the available languages on the backend directly. Our solution was to a enter the available languages in a parameter in the transaction iView, then read this parameter and see if the user has one of these languages selected. If not, then he's forced to use a fallback language (English for example).

So yeah, in essence you don't get an error per say, but you will be forced to change you r language in the iView before you can logon.

Create new portal language

Hi,
I need to include a new language not supported in EP6. Is there any simple way of doing this?
I know that created pages, roles, worksets, iViews and other objects can be translated. But what about Standard and developed components, where the translations are localized in resourcebundles?
And how are the new language included in EP6?

Hi Neil,
Displaying everything in Portal in HINDI cannot be done by the simple steps mentioned above.
Let me explain u:
1) First of all you will have to follow the two steps mentioned previously:

- com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par.bak is of help for u. Download this PAR from support. open it in eclipse. In the project structure -> open com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework -> dist -> PORTAL-INF -> config
- Open availableLocales.properties.Go-to the last line in the file (which should be having text zh_TW). Press enter after zh_TW and type in the language key in the new line (e.g ms for Malay). Each new language entry must be done in a new line.
- Save the file. Rebuild the project. & deploy the PAR file. Dont forget to take the backup of the original file.
2) After the two steps above, you will be able to see the newly added language at various places in portal dropdowns where you can select the new language & save it.
3) Now comes the real part. Doing all these things will not ensure that you will be able to see the contents in new language. For seeing any content of portal in any language, it is necessary to have the proper resourcebundles present in portal. So if you want to create an iView which has to be built on a PAR file made by you, then add the resourcebundles of Hindi in your PAR file & create an iView on it. Then change the language of Portal & your iView will show up in Hindi. Be aware that none of the standard SAP objects will show up in the new language unless you have by some way modified & created resourcebundles in the SAP PAR file.

Not able to see portal language in Personalize option

Hi All,
I login as an administrator, click Personalize option in the masthead ivew, I m unable to see the Portal Language option.
Other options such as workprotect mode and user mapping(remote iviews) are also not shown.
I m using EP6 SP13.
Is it because some permissions are missing??

I have checked that eu_role is assigned to admin and I know that eu_role is needed to view the personalize link.
Also, in the path that you have provided....Content Provided by SAP >> End User Content >> Standard Portal Users. >> worksets folder>>'portal personalization' workset ...I am able to see Portal Language,workprotect mode and other pages......
but when I click on the personalize link of the portal......I m unable to see those links.

Language of Webdynpro after changing the Portal Language

Hi All,
Even after changing the portal language from for ex. English to French, the webdynpro is still displayed in English language.
If this session (portal window) is closed and new portal session is started, then the webdynpro is displayed in French.
Also please note that, for iviews built using Portal HTMLB (like JspDynPages), restarting the session is not necessary.
Any answer/solution/pointers/SAP Notes supplied is greatly appreciated.

Portal Transaction iView not opening in browser but its open in R/3 screen

I have 2 senario.
First Scenario:
I login only into the portal and not login into R/3. I could access the portal transaction iview in the new broser portal window. And this is the expected behaviour.
second senario
I login into Portal as well as R/3 through SAP logon Pad (SAP GUI).
Now if I access Transaction Iview through portal , this transaction Iview is opened in R/3 side window not in portal browser window .And also same time we can see only new blank portal window iopen n portal side.
My question is that whichever transaction iView we access through portal we want to see that transaction iView in portal browser window like in first senario not in R/3 window.
Please help me to resolve this problem

The problem is that when our user trying to do same things in our system with his credentials means UID and PWD its working fine.But when he do the same things in his system with his credentials problem occured as per the senario 2.
This problem is not only that user but also whole their team member.

Portal Activity iview error

Hi Experts,
I am not getting the actual output when i trigerred Portal Activity iview......
For ex: If I am looking for Number of logged in users .....it always shows Zero.......
Even for the number of entries made in iview..getting the same value zero.......
Please throw some clue on this issue.

Hi Dharani,
What version are you working in? There were significant changes around SP15 in 2004.
Why you may not see data:
Data collection service is off
Data aggregation application is not installed or running
You have selected a period of time that has not been aggregated (like you want all logins for 10-noon today, with hourly interval, but this period has not completed. You will see zero.
Start by checking the database tables starting with WCR_ and see if there is in fact data.

Portal Transaction iView Button disabled

Hello expert,
I wish know why the button on menu of Pop-Up Portal are disabled.
I created a SAP Portal Transaction iView:

And the button NEW WINDOW is disabled, but if I put on the field where we type transaction: /ose37
then, a new window will open because I used /o
My question is: Why this button - NEW WINDOW is disabled? How can I enable this?

The solution for other versions is explained in the same note. However the note says that the procedure is NOT recommended and NOT supported by SAP.
You will need to editi the WinGuiRenderLayer.properties and set -wp=false in the SSDCommandTemplate
For NW04 realease and above the WinGuiRenderLayer.properties can be found at:
../usr/sap/< SID>/<InstID>/j2ee/cluster/server< server#> /apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-inf/portal/portalapps/com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap/property/transaction
(Make these changes in all the server nodes. A restart of the portal might be required after making these changes.)
Please note that if you change anything in this property file, it will be overwritten if a new version of application com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.par is delivered or when a new SP is applied.
It is also recommended to keep the original archive com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.par in a temporary folder and redeploy it if you encounter any side effects.

Put those two portlets on a page, after you submit the form (after Insert, Update, Delete),
the page will be refreshed and the deptno will be passed to the report.

Portal Favorites iView is not appearing !!!!!!

the Portal favorite iview is not appearing.
We have transported all KM content from dev to test server.
The Portal favourite iView itself is not coming.i have checked in Contemt Administration> KM content> root> entry point> favorites.
the favourite folder is there, but iView is not appearing.
Need help.

Portal Content ® Portal User ® Standard Portal Users ->
Tool Area iView and choose Open - > Portal Favorites

Portal favorites Iview Displaying twice in detailed navigation iview

Hi All,
I am facing one issue in portal...
In all the roles Portal Favorites Ivew is displaying twice in the detailed navigation iview. And the options in the Iview are different like details, refresh, Open a new window....
I have only one default framework assigned to my desktop....
I cldnot trace out which is causing this issue...
Could someone adivse me on this...?

Portal Favorites iview always appear in detailed navigation

Hello,
I have a problem regarding the Detailed Navigation with the Portal Favorites iview.
The iview always appears in the Detailed Navigation, although the only thing it shows is the message "there are no items to display" (meaning that there are no favorites). This causes the detailed navigation to always appear even when there is no need for it (no navigation links and no other content attached to it).
I tried removing the Portal Favorites iview (because we don't use that iview in the portal and have no need for it) from the innerpage of the default framework page, and it works, but after the next restart of the portal, the iview returns.
Is there any way to remove it completely so that it won't appear again?
We're running EP7 SP14.

Hi,
Create a new framework page by creating a delta link of the original page and then modify that framework page.
Also you will have to create a new portal desktop and use the modified page and also set the desktop rules accordingly.

Difference between "Favorites"- & "Portal Favorites"-iView

Hi SDN
Can anybody tell me the difference between the km-iView "Favorites" and "Portal Favorites"?
Also, when I enable the "Favorites"-iView a caption between the Favorites-entries and the Tray is added. How can I remove this?
And: The layout of the Favorites-iView-entries is different from those of the Portal-Favorites-iView-entries (the space between the list-dot and the text). It seems not to be affected the same way by the Complex Items -> Tree settings in Theme Editor.

As I found out the LayoutSet-Setting is responsible for the display.
In Favorites-iView the default LayoutSet was LinkListExplorer. After I changed it to PortalFavoritesExplorer the space between dot-and-text vanished along with the "Favorites"-caption - but sadly the "Organize Entries" Link on the bottom disappeared, too...
I think I have to play around a bit with LayoutSets
Main parts of the question already answered...
What still remains is the question about the acutal difference between these iViews.
