Portal Netweaver Administrator Logs

Hello,
I want to view the Administrator Logs on the Portal for which I am going to http://<host>:<port>/nwa, but then it says 'Select systems before proceeding' and no logs are displayed.
Please help.

Please check whether your sld is started or not, and technical system is created.
to check sld go to http://host:port/sld, configure sld and create technical system.

Unable to view Administrator Logs

Hello,
I am trying to view the Netweaver Administrator Logs to Troubleshoot a Runtime Error on Production Portal. But when I goto http:<host>:<port>/nwa -> Monitoring -> Logs And Traces , then I select Default Trace Option or Last 24 Hours Option in the Dropdown, it displays the Message : ' No records to display '. The same when I do for QA Portal it displays the Logs fine. What is missing for Prod. Portal which is not allowing to view the Logs.?
Any help would be highly Appreciated.

Pls check with your basis team whether the configuration to write the logs and traces were configured. It will be st by default but there might be a chance to set it to "OFF". In that case you will not get any traces or logs.

When I log in the Portal using Administrator user, I can use it correctly.

I have created a Room IView.
When I log in the Portal using Administrator user, I can use it correctly. However when I am using another user, I get this error message:

Hi Ika,
This seems to be a permission issue.
Go to the pcd and give read access to portal_content/com.sap.ip.collaboration/Rooms .
That should solve the problem.

Netweaver administration and SAP Web Application Server r the same?

I am a Basis Consultant & new to Netweaver,..
I am interested in Netweaver administration..
1.I am confused wheather netweaver administration and SAP Web Application Server r the same?(or WAS is just another component of Netweaver).
2.Do we need to administrate all the components of Netweaver(EP,BI,etc.,)seperately as an Netweaver Administrator?

One user from AD is not visible in portal user administration

Hi,
one of our users defined in Active Directory is unable to log into the portal. We have Kerberos authentication.
I've checked this user is also not visible in portal user administration. The rest of the users are visible and are able to log in.
Any ideas what could be the cause?
Maybe some settings/attributes for this user on the Active Directory side could be the cause?

Hi,
Could you please check and confirm if the user,group path are the same for the
particular user on AD as that referred to by the portal. If not he would not be on the portal and
then there would not be kerberos too in place for him.

SAP Netweaver Administration

Hi SAP Gurus,
I am working as a Weblogic Application Server Administrator/Engineer for past 5 years. I want to make a career change and enter into SAP world. I want to stay in the Administration world though I have 5 years of Java development experience.
Recently I am doing some research and trying to understand SAP Basis Administration and SAP NetWeaver Administration. I understand that SAP Basis Administration is for previous R/3 Systems and NetWeaver is SAP New platform which replaces R/3 system.
I request to clarify above understanding if I am mistaken.
I have been looking at Job posting in NetWeaver administration and I get SAP Basis job posting reponses. I am confused with this ...
Should I learn both SAP Basis administration AND SAP NetWeaver Administration to enter into SAP Administration world

Hi Gopal,
SAP Netweaver consist of 2 application platforms, The first one is the R/3 abap system (this is where the Basis come from) and the second one is the J2EE that serve as platform for the SAP Enterprise Portal.
Basically a good Netweaver administration should have good knowledge about both.

Netweaver Administrator - Enable Debugging

In the Netweaver Administrator web console, we want to enable debugging (System Mgmt > Administration > Systems. For some reason, the 'Enable Debugging' button is greyed out for the J2EE server process. Have you seen this before?

You can enable debugging from visual admin:
Logon with Visual Administrator ->Server->Services ->u2022 Go to Configuration Adapter:->u2022 On Display Configuration go to: cluster_data -> Propertysheet instance
->Switch between Display Mode or change ->->Double-click on u201CProperty sheet instanceu201D opens:
Make sure the DebugMode is set to u201Cyesu201D to debug the portal.
You can specify the port here....and siable debugging on some nodes (as per need)

Unlock Models with "NetWeaver Administrator"?

I have a question regarding "Unlocking" of models.
There are two models I am not able to unlock using the "Unlock Models..."-Button within the Visual Composer. I know there is the option to unlock the models somehow using the "Visual Administrator".
I know from the Blog "Logs and Trace for Visual Composer" (by Luis Felipe Lanz), that the Visual Administrator will be replaced by the NetWeaver Administrator.
For this reason (and because of the fact that I don't have access to the "Visual Administrator") I would like to know how and where using the "NetWeaver Administrator" can I unlock VC-models?

I am very sorry, but maybe I am not able to formulate my question in a way it can be understood.
I am totally aware how to unlock files within the Visual Composer. It works in general, so my conclusion is that I have the proper rights. As I have already mentioned before, the models, which I cannot unlock, where created by myself.
I pointed out that my second model -which is not presented within the Unlock-field of the Visual Composer- cannot be deleted by myself, because the machine tells me, I am locking it, which is not the case (the file is not open).
My conclusion is, that something went wrong when the system crashed, which happens from time to time.
So I came to the conclusion that another way is necessary to unlock those models. I know that there is an option via the Visual Administrator. But I don't have access to that. Our Administrators told me, that I am not able to access it via my client/notebook.
Because the Visual Administrator is going to be replaced by the "NetWeaver Administrator", I wonder, if and if yes where can I UNLOCK models within the "NetWeaverAdministrator".

Reset the password for the netweaver administrator

Using the netweaver administrator and trying to log in using a user 'administrator' it seems that the user is locked
We have the ABAP stack and i have administration rights with my user in SU01. How do i unlock that user or creater another administrator-user for the NW administrator?

Not sure if your ABAP system is the same and has the same database like your java system.
On dual stack systems this user is usually named j2ee_admin while administrator is an indication this is a java stack only system?!
If dual stack you can simply add another user in SU01 with sap_j2ee_admin role.
If java stack only you'll need another user with admin privilege or you'll have to use the config tool to reset the password.

First... download and digest the PI/XI Installation guide from SAP Marketplace.

No TACACS+ Administration Logging on ACS

I can get a csv file created for a TACACS+ Administration log/report [configured in Interface Logging of the ACS] but that log file is is empty. Help states that aaa accounting commands start-stop TACACS+ must appear in the access server or router configuration file in order to capture this day but my ASA 5520 will only allow;
aaa accounting command <server group> or <privilege>.
How do I get this ASA and Windows ACS to collect TACACS+ administration?
Note: My TACACS+ accounting does collect data on users ssh into the ASA.

It's quite possible that you might be experiencing a know bug ( CSCsg97429 ) in ACS version 4.1.
Get this Patch: Acs-4.1.1.23.5-SW.zip. It fixes the TACACS+ Administration log/report problem.
You rigth in regards to the command. It is needed for your NAS to send accounting information to the ACS.
Here's an example of the commands:
aaa accounting exec default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+
