Portal Object-Based Navigation

Hello,
I call a method in the Portal Manager as follows:
CALL METHOD LO_PORTAL_MANAGER->NAVIGATE_TO_OBJECT
    EXPORTING
      SYSTEM              = V_OBN_SYSTEM
      OBJECT_TYPE         = C_OBJECT_TYPE_QTE
      OPERATION           = C_OPERATION
      BUSINESS_PARAMETERS = I_PARAMETERS.
This instantiates a component and works fine. But it does not seem
to execute the wddoinit method of the component controller. Why not?

Thank you for your response. Portal package is good, all the required iViews are there and also I did the config according to the note you gave. But the main issue in my case is Siteminder and Apache server. Luckily today I showed the issue to our BASIS/Portal admin guy over here and he said that it is the issue with Siteminder s/w that deals with the portal security. I need to yet get more details on this and will update you once I get them. Now we know what is the actual issue.

Object based navigation in portal works in firefox/chrome but not in explorer

Hello,
Im running a portal 7.3 with ECC6 EHP7 as backend.
im attemting to trigger an object based navigation from the mss application.
the object based navigation is triggered in firefox but in in explorer
ive attempted to HTTPTrace , it seems that com.sap.portal.navigation.objbase.objbasednavigation is not triggered in internet explorer, only the POST method beforehand.
im guessing it is due to some network policy but they currently out of clues on how to help me.
the popup blocked is disabled, and the SAP portal and ecc system are on the same domain and both are using fully qualified domain names.
is there anything else i could do? Ive tried going through the wiki and error handling notes about OBN but to no avail.

I have had several people test and they all claim the Web Site works perfectly. Guess my question is what is unique about my computer? What setting or parameter do I have set that is making my computer act differently when I use Firefox 7.01 as opposed to 5.0 or 3.26? I have set up a test site that people can look at.

When the next page is displayed Rose should be on the top of the page and http://wallack-family-tree-test.com/iWeb/Welcome_files/DR_IDX/IDX001.HTM#ROSE should be in the URL field.
If you see this then things are working properly. On my computer, I see the correct data in the URL field but the Page that is loaded HAS NOT automatically scrolled down to ROSE. Rather, it is at the TOP of the page and I either have to scroll down to Rose or I can bring the mouse cursor up to the URL field and hit enter. My question - Why is my system NOT scrolling down?

Object based navigation not working in FPN

Hi All,
We are having issue with Object Based Navigation in FPN.
System details are, Central Portal 7.01 sp 06 and Child (SRM) Portal 7.01 SP 07.
We are using the standard business package iView Check Status, which is working fine in Producer Portal and the same is not working in Central Portal.

Before gettign into the isue there is some limitation given by sap on this reagrds of OBN with fpn:
1.A content developer may create an OBN source iView to call the OBN service to run code that processes a number of target iViews and displays them for the user to choose from, during runtime, in a context menu accessible from the source iView.
When in remote delta link mode, the federated portal network does not support this implementation of OBN, regardless or whether the source iView calling the OBN service was created in NetWeaver 7.1 or in NetWeaver 7.0 and then upgraded to 7.1.
2.The user on the consumer side may have additional roles that the respective user on the producer does not have.
Conversely, OBN does not search for targets in roles that the user has on the producer, which do not exist on the consumer.
Note also: In remote role assignment mode all content editing is done on the producer, including the editingobject-based navigation, such as the removal and addition of implementations and changes in priority
so as per your perspective issue can i clearly knwo abou the issue your getiing ,as it is working fine in Producer Portal and not in central portal right?

Fiori Launch Pad and Object Based Navigation (OBN)

I was wondering if anyone knows how the Fiori Launch Pad works with Object Based Navigation (OBN)...
The scenario I am imagining is that I have a tile defined on the Fiori Launch Pad that opens a Web Dynpro ABAP Application - within that application there is a user action that triggers an OBN call. This is quite a common scenario particularly with POWLs.
In the Portal or NWBC these OBN calls are managed and resolved at runtime based on the user's role. Will this also work with the Fiori Launch Pad or must the Launch Pad be embedded within the Portal or NWBC for this scenario to work?
I have noticed that if you define a Web Dynpro ABAP application in the Fiori Launch Pad it by default wraps that app in the NWBC (HTML version) in a new window - I am guessing that maybe this is how it then handles OBN resolution (e.g. via NWBC).
Any insight would be appreciated.

I hope SAP has a solution to cater for OBN in "older" applications such as Web Dynpro ABAP POWLs. I can imagine that many customers will have a hybrid launch pad consisting of both Fiori/UI5 and Web Dynpro Applications for some time.

Object Based Navigation and several Logon Pages

Hi SAP Experts,
when searching help.sap.com for object-based navigation, I get a very detailed and helpful description about what Object-based navigation is:

However it is not specified in the Help, if I can use these navigation objects also for several Logon Pages for different users. Does anybody of you have experience with that?
I know that I can handle different Logon Pages by defining a Portal Gateway Mechanism. Is that still necessary or can I handle everything with OBN?

Object-based navigation (OBN) offers portal users an additional method of navigation based on business objects from productive back-end systems. From the Portal Content Catalog, the business objects are imported from systems in the Portal Content Directory (PCD) to the Business Objects folder in the Portal Content Catalog, where they can be arranged logically into sub-folders as desired.
The primary capability offered by OBN is that the data returned to the user during navigation is role-based and accessed dynamically during runtime. While navigating in the portal, users receive different kinds of data from iViews based on business objects, according the needs and requirements of their role in the organization. Export parameter while using Object based navigation.

I am trying to call MM01 transaction using object based navigation from webdynpro component . My requirement is to send one parameter from web dynpro component to the one of the enhancements (On Save) in MM01 transaction.I have tried using export and import memory ID concept, but didn't work. Hello Kiran there is an SAP note that mentions
#1352104: OBN action's Business Parameters don't reach AI Target
-Symptom:
OBN ignores DynamicParameter parameter when passed in POST:
In an OBN action that launches an iView (the OBN target iView) of type
application integration - the business parameters are not be passed to
the target if the post body contain DynamicParameter.
So check the version you are using if it is affected, the fixes released and the workaround suggested,

URL based navigation towards CRM5.0 PCUI 'ACTIVITIES' in list mode

Hello dear experts,
i want to call the pcui application 'activities' from another application with the goal, to display a list of activities within the result list of the OIP.
Currently i am able to call the application 'activities' from within a bsp application using parent.EPCM.doNavigate("<%= lv_out_url %>") to display one given activity.
This is done using the URL

This activity with the guid lv_guid is displayed in the ODP of the activity application which is very suitable as long as you only have one activity to display..
To display more than one activities, i now transfer a dummyGUID towards the application activities in a same way as described above. i can read this dummy guid as object key within the read method of the activities application and use it to get the guids of the activities to be displayed from an internal table.
Last not least i hand over this guids to the read method with the hope that the read will display it as a result list.
At this point the problem begins. Although ther are now many activities to displayed, the application activities still offers me the ODP for display. Within this ODP i can scroll from one activity to the other but this is not
the result list of the OIP which is requested..
Is there any possibility to tell the application activities, that i request a display as result list in any case , even if the is only one activity related to the dummy guid?
Remark:
From first studies i asume this should be possible by delivering somethind like a navigation event 'SHOW_LIST via the url but i dont know how.
One more remark:
As far as i remember, within the old floorplan of CRM4.0 an result list was displayed as result of an object based navigation by default. Indeed what i want.

Hi Martin,
try to add the parameter view_mode=L to your URL.
'L' stands for listview, 'D' for Display and if the paramter is not passed it will open the ODP in edit mode.
Additionally you should set the Characteristics of Version in the PCUI Customizing.
At least this helped me when I wanted to navigate directly into the the ODP. Befor I changed the settings I ended up in the list view.

Portal eventing and Navigation in Federated portal environment

Hello Experts,
We have developed our portal content in Web Dynpro Java and it has been used in portal framework.In Some of custom web Dynpro applications,we are using portal eventing for communication between different iViews on a same Page and Portal Navigation APIs to navigate to different portal object.
Now We want to integrate all these portal objects(Mainly Custom web Dynpro applications without EP masthead,TLN,Desktop inner page ..etc) with Oracle portal.I want to know if we can use portal eventing when applications are integrated with Oracle porta or an other non-SAP portal or is there any other way to achieve the same.
I have gone through some of the SAP documentation and it is stated that Portal eventing will not work when applications are integrated with non-EP portals.
Any thoughts??

Thanks for your quick replay.I didn't understand exactly about custom framework page that you have mentioned.I am not sure what is purpose of framework page when i want to integrate all portal Pages(consists of Web Dynpro based iViews) in non-SAP portal.
We are going to use Navigation panel of non-sap portal and i want to integrate SAP portal pages in Oracle portal.
I could able to use individual web Dynpro applications Urls in Oracle portal using iFrame portlet,but portal eventing is not working with this approach.
As far as Authentication is concerned,we dont have any issues.it is already in place.

Using PowerShell to Fix an ObjectSID on a Portal object

Summary
Sometimes the ObjectSID just isn't what you want it to be or it's been unintentionally recalled due to another action. :)
This script should fix the portal object, just pass it the account name and domain on the command line and it will retrieve the SID, find the object by AccountName in the portal and then fix it if it is wrong.
Based on earlier examples by Joe Schulman and Markus Vilcinskas.

How to remove the tabs based navigation bar?

I am trying out my hand in portal and i have successfully deployed a sample portal(
Hot deploy didnt work by the way!). I have a few pages say home, account, messages
in the portal. Now, what I want is when I click a link on account page, the top
tab based navigation bar should disappear until I complete certain steps on the
account page( say, create an account which spans over 2 pages). Only after creation
of account should i see the tabs again.. is it possible?

The files you are looking for to change are located under the framework directory
in your application. The file hportal.inc or vportal.inc has a link to the hnav_bar
or vnav_bar file. So, you can check if certain criteria has happened and then
show the links or not show them. Whichever navbar url you included in the EBCC
tells you which file you should look in

Portal objects are not seen in portal contant

HI gurus
When I go to contant Administraction-->Portal contant ,I just see the no portal objects appears.its shows that the objects are required.
I already deployed ESS and MSS Business Packages with SDM but I can't see the content in the Portal Content.
Any help will be appreciated

Which SCA files have you deployed?
You have to deploy BPERP5ESSXXXXXXX.sca file for theiViews to appear in Portal Content.
You would have already deployed the files PCUIGP.sca ,SAPESS.SCA

Problem with 2 View Objects based on One Entity -Probably a Bug in ADF BC

I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3(SU5) and adf faces and ADF BC and to explain my problem I use HR schema.
First, I created 2 view objects based on countries table named as TestView1 and TestView2. I set TestView1 query where clause to region_id=1 and TestView2 query where clause to region_id!=1 in the view object editor and then I created 2 separated form on these 2 view objects by dragging and dropping from data control palette.
Now when I insert a record in the form based on TestView1 with region_id set to 1 and commit the record and go to the next form I can see the record in the second form which is completely wrong since it is against the where clause statement of the second form.
I am really confused and the situation is very wired and it seems to me something like bug in adf bc.Am I right.Is there any work around or solution for solving this problem.

Reading your helpful comments now I have some questions:
1- I have commited the record in the database so shouldn't the query of view objects be re-queried?
2- We try to use ClearVOCaches (entity_name,false) in afterCommit of the base entity object but unfortunately it does not work correctly. after that,We got root app module and used findViewObject method to find all the view of that entity (we have found them by using name not automaticlly) and called executeQuery of all views. From my point of view it has 2 big disadvantages. First suppose that this entity is an important entity and 4 or 5 viow objects are based on it. Now, For inserting one record we should re-execute 4 or 5 view which I think makes some performance issues. Besides, If during the development one programmer add a new view object based on this entity and don't add the executeQuery in the afterCommit for this view, again we have the same problem. Isn't there at least a way that automatically refresh all related view objects however the performance issue still exists.
3- You mentioned that this issue is handled in the developer guide. Could you kindly give me a refrence which developer guide you mean and which section I should read to overcome this problem.(I have ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developer's Guide , however I search for clearVOCaches and surprisingly nothing was found!!!)
4- Could you please give me some hints that from your point of view what is the best method to solve this problem with minimum performance effect.

How to set up permission for portal objects and folder

Hi All,
We are implementing EP 7.0. For creating portal objects, I have assigned "Super_admin, Content_admin, System_admin and User_admin" role to my userid and created iviews, roles and folder.
During SAP audit they asked us to open a Iview to show the permission,   the below are the value shown in permission editor.
Role Name           ====== Administrator ===== End User ======Role Assigner
Everyone             ====== Read            ======Yes        ====== No
Super_admin_role ====== Owner            =====Yes         ======Yes
SAP asked us to change the permission and said "Super_admin_role" should not be used, they asked us to create a group or role and assign. We are not clear what SAP wanted us to do.
Can any one let me know how this permission needs to be given and whether "Super Admin" role can be assigned to a userid.

I didn't create any role. I will let yo know what I have done so far.
1. Created a group called "ADMIN_GROUP".
2. Assigned "SUPER_ADMIN" role to group "ADMIN_GROUP.
3. Assigned userid "ADMIN_USER" to group "ADMIN_GROUP".
4. Opened the persmission of "PORTAL_CONTENT" folder and added group "ADMIN_GROUP" and set this group as "OWNER", "END_USER" check box is ticked and "ROLE_ASSIGNER" check box is checked.
5. Removed the role "SUPER_ADMIN" from group "ADMIN_GROUP".
6. Logged into portal using "ADMIN_USER" created a folder called "TESTING". Then opened the
    permission editor for the folder "TESTING", it showed three record
    "ADMIN_GROUP"           === OWNER === 'X' === 'X'
    "EVERY_ONE"               === READ     === 'X' === ' '
    "SUPER_ADMIN_ROLE. === OWNER === 'X' === 'X'
7. I am not able to delete "SUPER_ADMIN_ROLE" from the permission editor, as it is greyed.
With the above steps what I have achieved is I have given permission to group "ADMIN_GROUP". Is this what we need to do. Did I did anything wrong.

Can anyone assit with a method/formula to return the a value of an object based on the last record by date. BO 5 or XI. See example below. Query structure is not an issue. Only need help with the last record function or aggregate.

However, when i add either the status or condition variables to the report all lines related to the ID are returned not just the last entery by date.
