Portal on OCS R2

I have just installed OCS R2 on 3 boxes running Red Hat Linux AS 2.1
Has anyone got portal working with portlets for email, calendar, files etc.
On OCS R1 I had everything installed on one AIX box and configuring portal was straightforward using the Cookbook document.
Because of this I guess I have not fully understood portal and am struggling to configure on OCS R2.
Can anyone help or suggest some relevant documention.
Regards,
Colin Jenkins

for ocs rel 2, the portals are added during the middle tier installation, you no longer need to worry about this. all you need to do is assign the OCS_PORTAL_USERS group to your users. One thing though, the files portal does not get regisetered during the middle tier installation unless you have the files domain controller up before the web client config assistant runs. If you don't , after the middle tier is complete do the following:
set the environment for the middle tier
run the following:
$ORACLE_HOME/webclient/bin/web_clientinstaller.sh
i can;t rememebr the *.sh file name, just go to the the location above, you'll be able to work out which one it is.

  • Upgrade Portal in OCS 10.1.2 to Portal 10.1.4

    Hi all,
Can I upgrade Portal in OCS 10.1.2 to Portal version 10.1.4? Will it make any impacts on other Collaboration components?
    Thanks,

It will work and it os supported as from OCS 10.1.2.2. You must upgrade the portal before upgrading the ocs.

I have find how to create link to return to portal on vers. 9i but not on 10.1.2...
How add link on Discussion, Webconference, traffic_cop and old file Interface...

We've done it on a seperate AS 10.1.2.0.2, it works and i'ts normally a supported configuraiton. Of course you will also need an OCS database to store ocs data.

  • Default provider/portlet URL where register to another Portal or OCS?

I am trying to register a portlet provider on a Portal into a Oracle Collaboration Suite.
How can I find out the URL of the protlet provider?
The portal url is like: http://my-url:7777/pls/portal/
Looks like everybody knows it since the instruction didn't even mentione, but it puzzled me for a while, could get any provider registered so far :(
    Thanks!

Actually, the issue turned out to be a port (7777) that was blocked FROM the database TO the apps server. I guess that when the portalprovider tried to register the value in the database and the database could not access the site due to firewall rules, it threw that error. After we opened that port in that direction, it worked just fine.
    Thanks,

    Thanks

Don't use the AS portal with OCS it's better and recommend by Oracle to user the portal that comes with OCS. The portal that comes with OCS is the full blown portal unlike the version that came with 9.0.4.x.
I think you would be better off uninstalling and starting over. It might be a little more work now but you'll be happy you did.

  • OCS 10.1.2 using Oracle Internet Directory R3 (10.1.4)

    Hello people...
Somebody knows if it is possible that OCS 10.1.2 can use an existing Oracle Internet Directory 10.1.4?
Documentation specify compatibility with OID 9.x versions and obviously OID 10.1.2 and Certify list of Collaboration Suite for Identity Management specify only version 10.1.2 and no for the new latest version 10.1.4.
I think that both documents were written before the release of Identity Management 10.1.4. Are you test in your environments this configuration? works?
Thanks in advance for your comments...

  • Live meeting integration with Sharepoint 2010

    Hi all,
          We have the following requirement:
          a. User should be able to start live meeting from Sharepoint 2010 portal (Note: OCS 2007 R2 is part of the environment, Users online presence is shown in Portal).
          b. Users should be automatically added to live meeting.
Any information for this integration is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
Based on my knowledge, there is no OOB web part which you can use it to start live meeting from SharePoint 2010 portal. You need to develop a custom web part to achieve
    your goal.
For more information about SharePoint integrate with OCS, you can refer to the following article:

  • Configuring SSL for Real-Time Collaboration

    Hi,
We installed OCS10gR1 because we want to use Real-Time collaboration for delivering support. At this moment we are trying to configure SSL. We already worked through the following guides :
    - Real-time collaboration admin guide
    - OCS admin guide
    - OCS Security guide
    - OPMN admin guide
but it's still very fuzzy. It's hard to get a clear overview about the steps to follow to get SSL working for RTC. Is there some kind of "cookbook" or simple guide which describes all the steps in a clear way.
    Thank you

    Hi,
I ran the SSLconfigTool.sh script on the Infrastructure with success but the midtierSSLConfigTool.sh script didn't come to an end. Probably, I ran the script with the wrong options. I used the following options :
<oid hostname> gary.woerden.centric (hostname on which ocs resides)
    <oid port> 389 (default)
<oid admin dn> I filled in orcladmin, but maybe dn=woerden,dn=centric would be better ???

  • Adding portlet to ocs portal

I've built a Portal using the App Server 10g portal, now i was trying to do the same using an OCS portal installation, but i'm incurring in a strange problem:
i cannot add any portlet to the page.
In practice, the selected portlet (any portlet from list) appears for a fraction of second into the "selected portles" box and then it vanishes .......
    i'm a bit confused
    thanks
...is anything to do with configuration of the ocs ???
    thanks

i understand there is a configuration file called "ORACLE_HOME/portal/conf/iasconfig.xml" inside the collaboration suite.
This file stores configuration data from all the dependent components (of portal).
Is there anything similar into the collaboration suite ??
I'm still trying to solve the problem i explain in my first message.
In the EM, the portal seams to work ok, but if i go to the "portal service monitoring" every portal component is stated as "down".
This is probably the cause of the problem underlined in my first message.
What i'm really surprised of, is the fact that the installation was a clean one and I was not expecting such a behaviour from the portal.
This is because i installed various Application Server and the portal worked very well in every situation.
Moreover, i tried reinstalling the collaboration suite another time (just to be sure of the entire process), but with the same result.
    Any help is really appreciated

  • Install of the OCS portlets on Weblogic Portal 8.1

is anybody who has installed the whole stack of Collaboration Suite on a Weblogic Portal v8.1?
if yes, had you encounter any problems? do you have some tips ? or documentations ?
do you keep the WebCache in front of the WLS ?
do you keep the HTTP Server in front of the WLS ?
    Thanks you

As far as I know, OCS portlets are specific to Oracle Portal, therefore they can't work on other portals easily, if not at all.
    2 solutions :
    1) wait for ORacle to release JSR-168 compliant portlets (portable portlets ;-) )
    2) develop you own portlets for BEA. OCS includes a whole bunch of web services that you can easily call from a java portlet, and you can use LDAP indentification on OID or even integrate into SSO, as an external application (quite easy also), or as a partner application (more difficult but better integration).

  • OCS Portal Page not there

I finally completed the install of Collaboration Suite today, and followed along with the post-install instructions to set up the Oracle Collaboration Suite User Group, User Home page, and Administration page in Portal. I see the OCS_Page_Group listed, and I see the OCS_Main_Page page, but when I view it, there is nothing there. I see a reference in the documentation that talks about the Search, Calendar, and My Favorites portlets that were supposed to be created during installation. I don't see anything close to that.
Anybody know what to do? I want to have a portal page that contains the user's email, calendar, favorites, news, stocks, etc. I don't know what to do about creating the calendar and email portlets. I also don't see anything about creating Files Online portlet.
    Thanks,
    Michael

My install was on Redhat 7.3 from the iso disk images available on redhat.com. I considered downgrading my kernel, but I'm not that strong with Linux so worked with what I had. The only linux change I made was to install a ksh rpm which is mandatory. I had changed kernel parameters but don't think that it really matters for installation purposes.
The install that I have running at the moment was the simplest I could think of and only has an infrastructure tier and a middle tier, and I installed in the midtier install, portal, wireless and calendar. For both installs I change genclntsh as has been referenced in other notes in this forum. After my infrastructure install I made modifications to the listener, http, https and ldap components of the install. I also rebooted between midtier and infrastructure installs, and then started infrastructure components manually. I also deleted /etc/emtab file so that Enterprise Manager will be installed for the midtier. None of this seems to be documented very well in any of the Install guides/release notes etc, and I only got there with some help from other people who have access to MetaLink. Further there is nothing documented about how to stop/start/verify an OCS installation. Anyway, once the required infrastructure components are started, the midtier install seems to run fine, although for some reason I sometimes have to copy extproc from the infrastructure bin directory to the midtier bin directory.
Anyway, I got it running eventually and the calendar server seems to be doing what I want but it was a lot of effort for not much value above the plain infrastructure if you ask me. I'm confused why there needs to be three tiers anyway, as the infra and midtiers especially seem to install the same things. Couldn't they two tiers have been consolidated in some way?
I would be interested in what other people percieve as the value of collaboration suite and how they are planning on using it.
    regards,
    Anthony.

  • OCS on AS+Portal

    Hello
I've got a full installation of AS and Portal 10g.
And I want to install OCS and to use the same database and OID
It's possible to do it or not
    Thanks

    Short answer, you can't.
I opened a TAR on this quite some time ago, and the problem is that there are some schemas required for OCS missing from the 10.1.2.0.0 OID and are corrected in 10.1.2.0.2.
The problem is, there is no upgrade path from 10.1.2.0.0 to 10.1.2.0.2. Based on the TAR, we have to wait for a patch, which had been promised since September as arriving "Real Soon Now", which last I've been told will be Dec 31, 2005.
So the end result is, we who installed the 10.1.2.0.0 release are left in the cold.

  • "Return to Portal" OCS 10.1.2

Does anyone know how to change the URL of the "Return to Portal" link that is used on the different navigation pages? I've seen ways to fix it on version 9 but not on 10.1.2.
    --Thanks

    Hi,
You need to change it in OID. With the 10g version there is a new feature called the service registry. Take email for example under cn=VirtualServices,cn=Email,cn=Services,cn=OracleContext
there are a number of different URLs that can be modified, including the return to portal link.

  • Is there a CM SDK portlet for Portal 10g Release 2 ?

I originally posted this under the content topic within the Oracle Portal forum and someone suggested that I post it here.
Has anyone found or developed a portlet that can be used to access content stored in a CM SDK repository? We have a substantial amount of content stored in a 9iFS repository that we propose to migrate to CM SDK. We would like to maintain and publish some of this content through Portal. There are several Oracle white papers that mention close integration between Portal and CM SDK but I have been unable to find any real implementation examples.
    Thanks in advance - Niels
-- Suggestion by Christian Hauser ---
    hi niels,
please post this question in the OCS forum since OCS are providing the portlets. from what i know there is 2 ways of integrating content from content services:
    - use the omniportlet datasource for content services to publish content
    - use the content services portlet that are provided by the OCS team
    hope this helps.
    regards,
    christian

    Hi Niels
Are you after a portlet for CM SDK, or for our new Oracle Content Services?
9iFS evolved in to CM SDK.
Content Services evolved (at least in concept) from Oracle Files which is built on the CM SDK.
What functionality are you expecting in the portlet?
Content Services ships with both an out-of-the-box portlet that shows "My Recent Files", and also allows one to configure folder navigation links to Content Services. The navigation links when clicked result in the portlet rendering the direct folder listing for the folder. When items in the folder listing are clicked, they ship the user off to the DAV server to open the sub-folder/document.
Content Services also supports OmniPortlet access which among a host of features allows one to dynamically configure a result listing from a search in content services. Parameters can be configured for the omni portlets and values submitted to it via the page url. A parameter form allows one to enter particular criteria (such as a filename pattern) that can be submitted to the portal page and then intercepted by omni portlet to apply to the search query.
    Matt.
