Portal Permission

Hi all,
I am trying to add group Everyone (currently available in Permission Groups list) group but in edit mode, I see Add button is grayed out. This is the case with J2EE_ADMIN user.
How can I enable the Add mode i.e. grant permission to J2ee_Admin or the Administrator user be able to make permission changes.
Regards.

why are you trying to change theeveryone group.
By default every user in the portal will be added to this group.
There is no need to chane it ideally.

  • Portal Permission on ESS and MSS

    Folks,
I am having an perssion issue on Portal ESS MSS . When I give user superadmin role and administrator group then only ESS and MSS iViews works else I get error like this
Read of object with ID portal_content/com.sap.pct/srvconfig/com.sap.pct.erp.srvconfig.mss/com.sap.pct.erp.srvconfig.ato/com.sap.pct.erp.srvconfig.fpmapplications/com.sap.pct.erp.srvconfig.attendanceoverview failed.
I have given end user permission on Portal Content Folder. What else can I do to fix this issue ?
    Thanks

    Hi
In addition to end user permission ,give Read Access to srvconfig, line_manager and Employes-Self-Service  Folders.
    Thats all what is required.

  • Portal Permission for BI 7.0 Application

    Hi,
we are building a web application on BI 7.0 at the moment. This application contains three web templates (created by web application designer). The user should use these applications by logging on to bi-portal, depending on the user-permissions. And here we have a problem. The menu-structure should look like this:
    Webcockpit (first menu layer)
    - Template 1 (second menu layer)
    - Template 2 (second menu layer)
    - Template 3 (second menu layer)
    User1: Template1 + Template2
    User2: Template2
    User3: Template1 + Template2 + Template3
So if user1 loggs in, he should see the following menu-structure:
    Webcockpit
    - Template1
    - Template2
    User2:
    Webcockpit
    - Template2
    User3:
    Webcockpit
    - Template1
    - Template2
    - Template3
I've already created the different iViews, Pages, Roles, Worksets but it was not possible to create a permission-structure with the different role objects to achive the above described behaviour.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Regards,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
If you are having different roles i.e. Role1, Role2 and Role3, then you can set the property "Invisible in navigation areas" for each particular iview at the role level. However, if the requirement is to have 1 single role, then probably, creating 3 different worksets and then setting the "Invisible in navigation areas" for each particular iview should be of help.
Please try and let me know if you face issues.
    Thanks,
    Nikhil

  • J2EE Engine or Portal Runtime

    Hi Experts,
I have this thread on in another forum. The question was not answered and I am running out of time. I do not know how to move the threads either. Please excuse me for having 2 threads.
    But here is my question.
I am on ECC6.0/EP7.0SP11. I am trying to do the open enrollment (in ess portal: Employee Self-Service>Benefits and Payment> Open Enrollment) through ESS portal. It is working good. But when I try to do the Adjustment Reason Enrollments (Employee Self-Service>Benefits and Payment> Adjustment Reason Enrollment), it shows a blank page. I compared the URLs the applications are accessing.
    1. Open Enrollment (working fine):
    http://hostname.<domain name>:50000/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=<b>ROLES%3A</b>//portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_benefits_payment/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.enrollment&WebDynproNamespace=sap.com/ess~ben&WebDynproApplication=BenefitsApplication&DynamicParameter=sap-epcm-guid%3D4D41E649BB4A796AB2F164E866E090BB5F9145DB9BB7DE809A520C544A07CE53%26sap.xss.menuhdr%3DSAPDEFAULT%26sap-config-mode%3Dtrue%26sap.xss.menuargrp%3DSAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005%26TRACKING_ID%3DOPEN%26EVENT%3DOPEN%26INITIATOR_ROLE%3DHRASRD%26sap.xss.menuarea%3DEMPLOYEE_BENEFITPAY_ERP2005%26sap.xss.menusrv%3DEMPLOYEE_BENEFITPAY_OPEN_ENROLLMENT05+++EMPLOYEE_BENEFITPAY_OPEN_ENROLLMENT05&NavigationContext=
    2. Adjustment Reason Enrollment (not working):
    http://<host name>.<domain name>: 50000/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=<b>ROLES%3A//ROLES%3A//</b>portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_benefits_payment/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.enrollment&WebDynproNamespace=sap.com/ess~ben&WebDynproApplication=BenefitsApplication&DynamicParameter=sap-epcm-guid%3D4D41E649BB4A796AB2F164E866E090BB5F9145DB9BB7DE809A520C544A07CE53%26sap.xss.menuhdr%3DSAPDEFAULT%26sap-config-mode%3Dtrue%26sap.xss.menuargrp%3DSAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005%26TRACKING_ID%3DGENERIC%26EVENT%3DSHREE%26INITIATOR_ROLE%3DHRASRD%26sap.xss.menuarea%3DEMPLOYEE_BENEFITPAY_ERP2005%26sap.xss.menusrv%3DEMPLOYEE_BENEFITPAY_GENERIC_ENROLLMENT05SHRE&NavigationContext=
I am seeing one extra //ROLES%3A in the second URL. When this part is removed in the second URL, the application is working fine.
I do not know where this another <b>//ROLES%3A</b> is generated. How to get rid of this extra thing from Portal URL generation.
If any body can throw some light on how the URL requests are generated in the portal, how they are directed to PRT, and how the requests are processed, that will be really helpful.
    I have gone through
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d4/a5cf3d1b8b0239e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm">this help.sap.com page</a>. Still not clear on where the requests are generated.
Any inputs in this direction will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Abhishek,
    Thanks for replying.
    I went to System Administration>Permissions>Portal Permission>End User Content>Content Provided By SAP>Employee Self Service>Roles>Employee Self Service> Open Permissions.
I see the "Everyone" group in the assigned groups. is it the point where you asked me to check?
    Here the server log.

  • Portal Error (A critical error...) after removing "Administrators" group

    Hello experts,
I'm very new on the Portal topic and faced with an error on our portal environment (SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP Netweaver 7.01)
I've created a custom role with some worksets, folders and SAP standard delivered iView inside.
My portal dummy user is owner of this role. Furthermore he's assigned to the groups: "Everyone", "Administrators" and "Authenticated Users". The corresponding user in R/3 backend has SAP_ALL.
When I log-on to portal it's working fine, iViews, etc. are properly loaded. But thanks to the "Administrators" group, the user can access the tabs "Content Administration", "System Administration" and "User Administration" which should be obviously not the case. When I remove the group "Administrators" from the portal user, the 3 tabs are not displayed anymore. Therefore the iView from my custom role are not loaded any more. I get an error message in main screen saying "Critical Error. A critical error has occured. Processing of the service was terminated. Unsaved data has been lost. Contact your system administrator".
A colleague told me that it might be an issue on portal permission. I went via tab "System Administation" > "Permission" into the PCD and gave to my roles, folders and an example iView the following permissions:
    - Name: Everyone; Administrator: Full Control; End User: checked
    - Name: Authenticated Users; Administrator: Full Control; End User: checked
As I've used Delta Links I gave these permission to the SAP delivered iViews, too. Unfortunately the error stays the same.
    Please advice what's missing.
    Thank you so much, Jessica

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I started the NWA and went to Analysis > Debug > Logs and Traces.
There is a fatal error stated but the explanation is not very detailed:
    Severity: fatal; Message: n/a; Category: /Applications/Xss; Location: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.generation.DelegatingComponent; Application: sap.com/tcwddispwda; Host: pesap57; Node: Server 0 26_91224
The message is displayed twice (again: Severity: fatal; Message: n/a; Category: /Applications/Xss; Location: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.generation.DelegatingComponent; Application: sap.com/tcwddispwda; Host: pesap57; Node: Server 0 26_91224)
These errors are not in the log when I add the Administrators Group.
    Thanks for your advice, Jessica

  • Wpc permission problem

    Hello All,
We have problem in our portal, hope somebody can help to fix this problem
We have wpc installed in our portal server, and in wpc we create some sites, let we say site A, site B and site C.
We also have some content admin that responsible to each site, so there are admin A, admin B and admin C.
We give wpc role to each admin, but now, the admin cannot access the wpc editor, when they click wpc editor menu, there is an error "Access denied" coming.
Cause this error, our administrator try to give role "content_admin" to each content admin, and now they can access the wpc editor like usual.
But, after assigning role content admin, each admin now can access other site with full access authorization. Admin A can access site B and C, admin B can access site A and C, and admin C can also access site A and B, with full access authorization.
So, the question is, how to return this problem to initial condition ?in order to each admin only can access they site with full access authorization, and only get READ authorization to other sites.
we really sorry if our question confused
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
You need to follo the below steps
    1.Under system admin -->permission -->Portal permission --> security zone -->com.sap.nw.wpc
open medium_safety with permission  window  add everyone group with none and wpc_editor_role with read permission.
Follow the same step for no_safety.
2.In KM repository under etc folder check the permission of wpceditor folder .
you need to add wpc_editor_role and everyone group with read permission.
3.Check the permission of site and cross-site content folder in KM repository.
You need to add  wpc_editor_role  and everyone group with read permission.
Here you can add any group (custom created for site admin ) with read write  permission.
You can indirectly assign users to the role by assigning groups.
For each Web site, create one or more groups for editors and authors.
Assign the groups to the wpc_editor_role role.
    Assign users to the groups.
Hope these will resolve your problem.

  • XLSQL for using Excel (XLS) as datasource in VC

    Hi Benjamin,
Hope you are having a good day. I know its been a while since you worked on this piece ([url] DATE issues when using BI JDBC Excel datasource in VC;url] ) but we are trying to do the same thing you had done. Use xlSQL to connect to an excel file as a datasource for VC modeling.
We want to use the BI Java connector. I have loaded the JAR files and when we get to the Manage Connections, not sure what we enter for the Driver, URL, Schema, username and Password.
What I now see if that the Connection Test (for the BI JDBC system) works fine with the following:
    Driver: com.nilostep.xlsql.jdbc.xlDriver
Connection URL (Unix box): jdbc:nilostep:excel:/reports/spec (this is the folder where I have the xls file)
FixedSchema: (should my excel file name go in here?)
FixedCatalog: (should my excel sheet name go in here?)
    Username: none used
    Password: none used
When I do all of this and search for TABLES in VC on that system, it says None found. Any light shed on this would be very helpful.
    Thanks,
    BR

    Hi,
The most important guideline we used was this document:
How Tou2026Configure a BI JDBC System for Visual Composer Version 1.03 u2013 March 2006
    LINK: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6209b52e-0401-0010-6a9f-d40ec3a09424?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
Follow all the steps... Some remarks about the steps in this document:
Step 7: add all additional .jar files that are in the /lib folder of the xlsql driver package
Step 11 - 14:  ... skip this, after step 15 restart the whole j2ee cluster, this is really needed to load the .jar files
Step 15: although optional and not the configuration you need to get it working for VC it is handy to configure this as it allows you to use the JDBC test page for debuging etc.
The only 2 parameters you need to configure with this step is:
    Driver: com.nilostep.xlsql.jdbc.xlDriver
    Connection URL: jdbc:nilostep:excel:/reports/spec/
    ...Now restart the j2ee cluster...
After the restart you can use the following url to see if the driver works: http://<hostname>:<port>/TestJDBC_Web/TestJDBCPage.jsp
Continue the configuration to allow VC to access the driver you need to configuer a System object in the portal...
    Follow Step 16 an onwards...
Step 26: Again only fill in the following:
    Driver Class name: com.nilostep.xlsql.jdbc.xlDriver
    Connection URL: jdbc:nilostep:excel:/reports/spec/
Step 29,30 and 34,35: Usermaping Type can be left untouched
Additional step (do this after step 33): To make the system visible in VC you must set the portal permission for the user that use VC to Read + Enduser. Also when used in runtime later the enduser should have Read+ Enduser permission to use the system object. We used the built-in group Authenticated User for this and set the permissions on this group to Read+Enduser.
    This should do the trick...
FAQ 1 - after uploading a new (or overwriting an existent) XLS file to the folder the changes are not visible, how to solve this?
ANSWER 1 -  restart the JDBC connector via /nwa > manage > applications > (search for jdbc) > Stop / Start
FAQ 2 - after deleting a XLS file the data is still querieable, even after the restart of the jdbc driver?
ANSWER 2 - this is some kind of caching bug, deleted files are only deleted when you restart the J2EE engine.
FAQ 3 - after a restart of the jdbc driver, the first query firred in VC returns an error.
ANSWER 3 - this is because the first time the XLS files are read and writen into a HSQLDB in memory database, this takes more time. after this the calls are made on this in-memory-copy of the XLS data.
    Hope this helps you...

  • How to import .epa file from local m/c

    Hi All,
I am trying to import .epa file from client (local machine), but the "client" option is disabled under the Import. Also, I don't have remote access to the server.
Is there any other way to import this .epa file from my local m/c
    Regards,

    Nikhil,
I would also suggest you to check your portal permission to perform this option. Once you click on the "client" option you get a browse option to browse and select .epa file from the local system.

  • Configuration Guide for Java -Addon in BI

    Hi
We have upgraded BW 3.1c to BI 700 recently. After upgrade to BI, we have installed Java Add-on.
Our team is getting communication errors in RFC-based ABAP to Java and vice versa. As per oss note 888687 (page 5) there should be some value under following setting in visual admin:
    J2EE_SID > Server>Services-->JCO RFC Provider.
Seem to me it is configuration related step that we are missing as there is no value defined in JCO RFC provider.
I'm looking for configuration guide after the java add-on to fix some of our RFC problem or solution to our problem.
    Regards
    Amar

    Hi
Thanks for your reply and sorry for delay. As per oss note 917950, i'm trying to solve the problems and understand the concept of BI.
    1.  i executed "RSPOR_SETUP" and it mentioned the different ABAP and Java support package.
    ABAP Support Package:                  12
    Java Support Package:                   9
    2.   With the help of template installer (oss note 917950), i'm able to fix the problem of JCO RFC Provider.
    3.    I executed "RS_template_maintain_70" as per oss note 917950 to test standard web template in BI (both direction). It seem to be working fine.
    4.    Again, i run "BI diagnostics and support desk tool". I got the following message:
"Your system is not configured correctly. BEx Web, BEx Web Application Designer, BEx Report Designer and BEx Broadcaster will not work
properly unless you adapt your configuration".
    5.       As per oss note 917950 (page 17), i have to set the permission of System object. First i have to logon to portal and then choose the  iview system administartion /permission/ portal permission.
I don't understand this setps. Logon to portal mean logon to "http:/dbcibsn:54300/nwa"? If this is true, i'm not able to see the iview system administration ..
    How to get it?
    Regards
    Amar

  • User admin role

    Hi All,
I want to assign a user, the user admin role. So I copied the standard user admin role to my folder and when I assign it to the user it gives me an error "NO ACCESS" - You have no permission to perform this action.
Can snyone please explain me in detail how to enable the permission so that the user has all the features of the user admin.
    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,
No need to copy to any other folder...goto systm admin -> permission -> portal permission -> open the portal content  and then give the full control permission for all the objects for wich u want to give access to end user and then finally assign him content admin role....doing this end user will see only those objects in his content admin role..

  • How to set up permission for portal objects and folder

    Hi All,
We are implementing EP 7.0. For creating portal objects, I have assigned "Super_admin, Content_admin, System_admin and User_admin" role to my userid and created iviews, roles and folder.
During SAP audit they asked us to open a Iview to show the permission,   the below are the value shown in permission editor.
Role Name           ====== Administrator ===== End  User ======Role Assigner
    Everyone             ======  Read            ======Yes        ====== No
    Super_admin_role ====== Owner            =====Yes         ======Yes
SAP asked us to change the permission and said "Super_admin_role" should not be used, they asked us to create a group or role and assign. We are not clear what SAP wanted us to do.
Can any one let me know how this permission needs to be given and whether "Super Admin" role can be assigned to a userid.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rgards,
    H.K.Hayath Basha.

    Hi Michael,
I didn't create any role. I will let yo know what I have done so far.
    1. Created a group called "ADMIN_GROUP".
    2. Assigned "SUPER_ADMIN" role to group "ADMIN_GROUP.
    3. Assigned userid "ADMIN_USER" to group "ADMIN_GROUP".
    4. Opened the persmission of "PORTAL_CONTENT" folder and added group "ADMIN_GROUP" and set this group as "OWNER",  "END_USER" check box is ticked and "ROLE_ASSIGNER" check box is checked.
    5. Removed the role "SUPER_ADMIN" from  group "ADMIN_GROUP".
    6. Logged into portal using "ADMIN_USER" created a folder called "TESTING". Then opened the
permission editor for the folder "TESTING", it showed three record
        "ADMIN_GROUP"           === OWNER  === 'X' === 'X'
        "EVERY_ONE"               === READ     === 'X' === ' '
        "SUPER_ADMIN_ROLE. === OWNER  === 'X' === 'X'
    7. I am not able to delete "SUPER_ADMIN_ROLE" from the permission editor, as it is greyed.
With the above steps what I have achieved is I have given permission to group "ADMIN_GROUP". Is this what we need to do. Did I did anything wrong.
    Regards,
    H.K.Hayath Basha.
