Portal role folder translation

Hi all,
I'm translating the portal content created in different languages with the worklist functionality (EP 6.0 sp2). All portal objects like iViews, pages, worksets and roles can be translated but I've not found so far the possibility to add to the traslation worklist objects like the portal role folders (object type com.sapportals.portal.rolefolder). The portal role folders are used to structure in trees the content in the detailed navigation.
Can you please tell me how these can be translated?
Thanks,
Silvia .

Hi Silvia,
you don't have to use the RAW TEXTS for role folders. You can however translate role folder titles and descriptions in any available language. BUT you first have to translate them from source language: Raw Texts to target language (e.g.): English
Then you can translate them from English to any other language you desire.
The issue described in note 778884 is the following: When you create a role with master language "English" and you want to translate that role into other languages (e.g. Frensh, Spanish, etc.) and you choose English as source language in the translation tool, you won't see the texts for the role folders!
As, due to a bug, texts for role folders are initially saved only as Raw Texts, they don't appear in English (master language).
You first have to translate them from "Raw" to "English" and then everything is fine.
Hope I could shed some light on this.

  • In Portal Content admin Role "Portal content" folder is not displaying

    Hi,
          I created a user in EP and assign Only Content admin Role. But in portal content area "Portal content "folder is not displaying.
    Can someone help me the process steps to achieve it?
    Thanks,
    kundan

    It is because the user has no proper permissions  to the porta content folder.
    you should give atleast read permission to the portal content folder to the content_admin role or to the users who have content admin role.
    also make sure the end user check box is checked at the time of giving permissions.
    Otherwise give eevryone group as read permisisons to the portal content folder. then you can see the portal content folder with read permissiosn only.

  • Assigning Portal Roles

    Hi All,
    We have installed EP 7.0. The problem we are facing is : The "Portal Content" folder is not displayed under the "Browse Category" of content administration & system administration.
    Why is it so? Do we need to add some other portal Roles to the user? If so.., which role we should add?
    Also we are trying to add the portal role ID
    " com.sap.pct.pdk.JavaDeveloper". But when we search for this role , we could not found this role. Whether the role has been renamed?
    Kindly provide your suggestion on the above queries.

  • How to transport Associated Group in a Portal Role?

    Hi,
    I created a portal role which is contained in a folder X under Portal Content.  This portal role is associated with a particular ABAP menu-role by means of Assigned Groups.  When I transported the folder X with all dependent objects from Dev to QA, the portal role appeared but the Assigned Groups is empty.  Another words, the association between portal role and the ABAP menu-role could not be transported.  How can Associated Groups in a Portal Role be transported?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Zabrina

    Hi,
    I have tried to do it in two steps:
    1. Export and import portal contents which include the whole structure with folders, roles and iviews under each role.
    2. Export and import the same roles as user management data
    The result from 1 was that the whole structure including the roles is imported; however none of the portal role contains the associated assigned group.
    The result from 2 was that the UME roles with assigned group are imported as separat objects.
    Now, the same role appears both as portal role without assigned group and the UME object with assigned group. But, there is no connection between 1 and 2.  That means that I cannot use 2 anyway.
    Is there any other way to do than to export 1 and manuelly modify 1 with assigned role once again after transport?
    Thank you in advance for any helpful advice.
    Best regards,
    Zabrina

    Try to  log into the user with super admin role and add your user/role to the portal content permissions.Permissions can be added either from System administration or from Content Administration .
    System Administration --> Permissions --> Select Portal Content and add your role or user
    Content Administration --> Dbl Clk Portal Content Directory --> in the display select box select Permissions and add your user / role ...

  • Modify the default "No portal roles are assigned..." message iView

    Hi,
    When a user with no roles assigned is trying to access the EP6 SP9 portal, he/she is facing a warning message:
    "No portal roles are assigned for this user.If this problem persists, contact your system administrator."
    accompanied by a 'log off' link.
    Is it somehow possible to change the look and feel and/or behaviour of this message?
    For instance, we would like the message appearance to be more 'friendly' and with a link where they can find further assistance, etc.
    With best regards,
    Robin

    The window for logoff is part of the masterhead. So i think you can modify the masterhead pasr file for that.
    Its location is at...
    usr/sap/<instance>/JC00/J2EE/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/root/web-inf/deployment/pcd.
    In this folder you can find the com.sap.portal.masterhead.par.bak
    this file can be imported to your developer studio and can be editted and uploaded.
    hope this helps

  • E-Recruitment Portal Roles

    Hi,
    I have activated EHP4 in my system and I have found some documentation that lists the Recruiter and Administrator roles as below.
    Recruiter
    Portal role: SAP_RCF_RECRUITER_ERC_CI_2 (Recruiter)
    Collection: EP_PCT_ERP_RECRUITER
    PCD folder: pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.pct.erp.recruiter.bp_folder
    Administrator
    Portal Role: SAP_RCF_REC_ADMIN_ERC_CI_2 (Recruiting Administrator)
    Collection: EP_PCT_ERP_ERECADMIN
    PCD folder: pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.pct.erp.erecadmin.bp_folder
    However I cannot find any documentaiton to lead me to what the roles should be for the Requesting Manager or the Internal Candidate. Can anyone please point me in the direction of where I could find these??
    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
    From your question what i have understood is:- You want what role needs to be given to the  Requesting Manager(Line Manger/Higher Manager) and the  Internal Candidate(Employee).
    If that is the case then for
    Internal Candidate (Employee) --- you have to give --> JOBS ROLE  (along with ESS Role)
    Requesting Manager(Line Manger/Higher Manager) ---> you have to give MSS Role (as the requesting manager is going to approve the request).
    Hope this ans will help you.
    Thanks,

  • Assign Security Zone Permissions to Portal Role

    Hi all
    I have created a portal role, say 'ABC', in my folder and assigned some users to this role. Now I want to assign security zone permissions for this role, ABC. When I try to do so, I am not able to find this role under 'Assign New Permissions' of permissions editor.
    What more do I need to do to get this role for assigning permissions?
    I am using Netweaver 2004s.
    I appreciate your answers with good points.
    Thanks in advance
    Tejo

    HI Fabien
    Thanks for the reply. I tried with wildcard search. I am not able to find that role. When I search for all roles in permissions editor I see some 32 roles. When I searched the number of roles in User Administration tab, there are 55 roles( 40 in Portal Role datasource and 15 in UME database datasource).
    I can see my role in User Administration window, but not in Permission editor.
    Thanks

    myIview.save();
    Any idea how to get NAVINVISIBLE - Attribute saved on a role-folder ?
    tnx Johannes

    Hi Johannes,
    I guess you found a working alternative until now, but if not, you should try the other [modifyAttributes |http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/pc/com/sapportals/portal/pcd/gl/IPcdContext.html#modifyAttributes(java.lang.String,%20int,%20javax.naming.directory.Attributes] method on IPcdContext. Your code could look like this:
    IPcdUtils factory = PcdAccess.getPcdUtils();
    IPcdAttributes attributes = factory.createPcdAttributes();
    IPcdAttribute navInvisibleAttribute =
         factory.createPcdAttribute(
              PcdAttributeValueType.BOOLEAN,
              IAttrPcmNavigation.ATTRIBUTE_NAVINVISIBLE);
    navInvisibleAttribute.add(Boolean.TRUE);
    pcdContext.modifyAttributes(
         StringUtils.EMPTY,
         IPcdContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE,
         modifiedAttributes);
    This works in my application, so I never tried working with ModificationItem again. Maybe the implementation is somehow insufficient, but I didn't investigate it further (time pressure kills us all). However, please notice that REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE will replace or create the attribute as specified in the DirContext. Hope that helps.
    Best regards,
    Fabian

  • Changing Portal Role after the status change of user status at the CRM end.

    Hi,
    I have Portal with Java database as the default and CRM is connected to it using SSO.The database in both the case in separate.The users that are created in Portal will have a BP status in CRM sytsem.
    Now my requirement is that if the status of the BP gets changed at the backend simultaneoulsy its Portal role should also gets changed.How shall i facilitate this procedure of changing the Portal Role?
    Is there any RFC ,BAPi or Webservices required for this?
    Regards,
    Amarys
    Edited by: amarys on Sep 13, 2011 11:20 AM

    Hello,
    Since the status has no number it will appear under statuses W/O number bottom right in status overview window.
    These status will appear as additional text beside current user status. For example if user staus is BUG and status without number is DFL and sets when deletion flag is set and gets deleted when it is revoked than user status will appear as
    BUG DFL -
    Deletion flag set.
    BUG -
    When deletion flag revoked.
    You have to live with it. I don't think there is a way out for that.
    Thanks

    Balu,
    Well this issue has been discussed many a times in forums. You would have to point your data source to ABAP system.

  • Is there a way to automatically map CRM Roles to Portal Roles

    <b>Scenario:</b>
    When a new user registers on our portal he is assigned a CRM Role, however, he still needs to be assigned a Portal Role. Since we will have many users registering through our portal we do not want to assign roles to users manually. We want this to be an automated process, which requires almost no administration after the initial configuration.
    <b>Solution we are looking for:</b>
    Ideally we would like to do some configuration on the Portal side that would some how pull roles from CRM user store and map them on to appropriate Portal roles. In our case the reverse would also be ok as well, i.e. we do some configuration on the CRM side that would push the appropriate role to the Portal and do the Portal Role assignment.
    Does anyone know how to do this? I am very new to portals so a detailed explanation would be very helpful.
    Thanks for all the help!
    Muhammad Osman Yousuf

    No, the portal role will not be the same for the same CRM Role.
    So for example...
    On the CRM side we have CRM_ROLE_A, CRM_ROLE_B, and CRM_ROLE_C and on the Portal sider we have PORTAL_ROLE_A and PORTAL_ROLE_B.
    All mappings given are possible...
    CRM_ROLE_A = PORTAL_ROLE_A
    CRM_ROLE_B = PORTAL_ROLE_A and PORTAL_ROLE_B
    CRM_ROLE_C = PORTAL_ROLE_B
    The solution you mentioned, will it work with the above mappings?
    Thanks for all the help!

  • J2EE roles vs Portal roles vs ABAP roles

    (I also posted this on portal implementation, but i hope i receive more reactions here )
    Dear all,
    I have a question about the information on the following link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/4c/6c0f40763f1e07e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    It says the following:
    "These functions are intended to assign users and their assigned portal roles a corresponding role in the SAP System. This corresponding role (authorization role) contains the authorizations needed to execute certain functions from the portal."
    1. These "...certain functions..." they talk about, can someome give an example of these functions?
    2. Is it possible for example to create a role in the portal that gives a user authorisation for starting transaction SE80 in the backend system? Without making the role in the backend first and uploading it to the portal.
    3. It's also possible to upload ABAP roles to the portal. Is the main reason for this that users can see their SAP menu (or part of it) in the portal? Or does this have other advantages too?
    4. I'm very confused about the relation between J2EE roles, portal roles and ABAP roles. Is it possible to manage the roles for a user in one place, without having to do certain actions in the portal AND the backend system?
    From what I've read on help.sap.com, you always need to do certain actions in both places.
    A possible approach is the following (from what i know): Creation of roles in the R/3 system, without assigning to users. From a webdynpro application, a user can then be created and roles can be assigned: portal roles (via some API) and R/3 roles (via BAPIs).
    I hope someone can give a bit information on this issue. I've done alot of reading on help.sap.com, but it's still an abstract issue for me.
    Kind regards,
    Joren

    Hi Jorem
    Re: point 3. I don't build portal roles through this mechanism as I don't believe in replicating the SAP easy access menu inside the portal. If there are some specific functions (transactions) that I want to run inside the portal, then I might use this mechanism to build the iViews once. I would rather start an iView that runs transaction SMEN and let the user see their regular easy access menu.
    Please note that the speed of executing transactions in the portal isn't a function of the portal, but the fact that you are using ITS, for example, to web enable the transaction...
    Re: point 4. Groups are a UME concept. They have nothign to do with ABAP groups. They can be created directly in UME through user administration functions, or they can be created in the LDAP and then they are visible in the portal. If the UME points to an ABAP system, then the ABAP roles are autoamtcially visible as UME groups. Groups created in the UME need to have the members assigned through user admin functions of the Java engine. Groups stored in LDAP are maintained using LDAP admin tools. There are upload utilities that allow you to maintain LDAP users and groups through text files. Google LDIF for more details.
    Roles on the portal need to be built in the portal contetn directory. As Michael mentioned, this can be automated by the use of the role upload function built into the portal.
