Portal SAPMMC

Hi experts,
we have the portal installed and it was up and running and configured right. Sap had checked this through GA session etc.
Now however during the regular restart of the portal app server after the restart the Sap instances can no longer be seen in the SAPMMC. Therefore I cannot start the instances again.
Has anyone any idea how to view the instances on the MMC again so I can get the portal instances restarted.
Shutdown was done 1st by stopping all services, then the instances, then the server. Normal way which has been done many time in the past.
Has anyone any ideas on what to do.
thx.

Hi,
Hope this thread helps :

  • Portal not accessable via browser as inside sapmmc - http provider is red

    Hi Experts,
I am very new to NW admin side and currently my client is facing an issue while accessing portal via browser.
Problem: Some times suddently when users try to access production portal it takes a lot of time to open up and in most cases it doesn' t get opened up at all. To check what' s wrong with the portal i access sapmmc and inside their i find under current status -> ... -> services -> http provider -> total requests in red status with a description as avg request - response time last reported value above threshold limit. It will be the same case under open alerts too.
    My server configuration is:
    SAP-JEE = 7.0SP14
    OS = Windows 2003 (X86) 5.2
    Server Version = 1.4.2_17-bo6
    Kernel Version = 7.00 patch level 109886.44
    Server = 32 bit
    RAM = 16.00GB
    Processor = Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5450 @3.00GHZ (8CPUs)
    Heap Size: 1024 MB
    Approximate number of users = 500 - 600
Currently to solve the issue, we give a reboot to server. But with the progress in time the frequency is getting increased drastically (approx once in 2- 3 days).
Any pointers on how to solve this issue will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Vipin.

    Hi all,
    Thanks for your valuable inputs!
Now the issue seems to end up by raising an OSS notes with SAP and i have been given responsibility to prepare a doc that needs to be submited to SAP.
I have already got the screenshots from SAPMMC on it' s status and all, but also requires log information specific to the reason behind this behaviour. Can i know where the log information specific to such issues gets logged and all the necessary information that i need to document to raise an OSS.
Inputs with be of great help and will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Vipin.

  • Portal Not Responding ( May be with Dispatcher / Http Service )

    Hi Folks,
Our Portal system has stopped responding and there is no response for any request. Meanwhile if I go to SAPMMC console, all Status are shown Green.
I think the dispatcher (or internally HTTP service) could be an issue, but not able to debug the same. I have got the same issue before, and the only way I could correct it was by restarting the portal server. I don't want to take this route and want to get to the root of the problem.
Has any one faced the same issue? Please guide me how to debug the issue.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Dear Sudhir,
    Thanks for your time.
I have basic Http Watch tool and I ran the same. There is no response from the server and hence nothing is being returned. Any other points Sudhir?

    Deepak

  • SAPMMC - can it be run standalone?

Since all of our Java systems have the SAPMMC snapin.  In using this we noticed that we are able to add systems on other servers.
From there we thought that perhaps we could install the snapin on our desktops and add all of our systems.  That way we could look at the systems without remoting to each server.
At this point we have not been able to find and adequate download for the sapmmc (copying it from the server won't work)
So in addition to downloading it, we are wondering (more generally) if this will work.
    thanks!

thank you for this response.  we were able to get this set up.
I was also able to find this document which contains more detailed step by step directions.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0f6978e-f73c-2a10-269f-93e8f0a13394
Even with this doc there are a couple of "gotcha's" if anyone else tries this.
    (1) When you copy the files to your desktop (assuming XP or Vista...etc) make sure the source server is running 32 bit Windows.  If not, when you run the sapstartsrv.exe, you will return a message saying "this is not a valid Win32 application".
if you aren't certain, Windows itself (i.e. Help -> About...) doesn't give this information.  This article give step by step on how to make sure.
In our case, most of our servers were 64 bit windows, but we did have one 32 bit system.  If you only have 64 bit systems, you would probably have to download and extract the kernel to get the right files
    (2) we also need to copy over (but not register) the file:  libsapu16vc71.dll.
In our case we discovered this when we clicked on the systems in the MMC and it gave the explicit message that this file was missing.
Other than that, this works GREAT and is a real time saver

  • Sapmmc has yellow light on disp+work w/J2EE status info unavailable

    Hi All,
We have a dual stack running ECC 6.0 on Netweaver 7.0. MSSQL 2005. The Java stack has never started successfully.
The sapmmc shows a yellow light on disp+work w/J2EE status info unavailable.
There are no Server0 logs because the stack has never properly started.
I cannot connect to the Configtool either. When I click Yes to the default database, all I get is the secure store icon in the upper left.
I made sure that user SAPEQ1DB has the same password in both the Configtool and MSSQL.
I made sure that user j2ee_admin has the same password in both GUI and the Configtool adn it is not locked.

    Hi,
Login with another user in the pc who had administrator rights and then start your server from MMC and then give the OS user password.
No need of administrator password to start the server.
Its just the PC user password.
If your database doesn't start automatically.
Go to services.mmc and then start manually.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Pinki
    1. U have posted this forum is wrong forum. It should be in CE forum.
    2. Try restarting ur system. There could be some process running which needs restart after password has been changed

  • Cannot log onto the Portal on any servers!

    Hi All
I have been attempting to set up a demo of our portal PRD environment which contains one central instance and two dialog instances. I installed the the Cental instance first and then the the dialog instances one at a time. All seemed ok all of the services are started (Green in SAPMMC), however I cannot log into the portal on ANY of the servers.
On both of the application servers I get the following message 'You have requested an application that is currently stopped' and on the central instance I get this message 'Application error occurs during processing the request.'

  • Components of SAPMMC(Management /console)

    hi,
I need some information(fundamental understanding) of the <i>instances</i> we see in the SAP Management Console (SAPMMC).
There is a central instance, a java instance, msg-server, process lists,etc...
Is there any documentation or blog which details about each of these parts of the MMC??

    Hi,
You can check SAP Help portal for detail information.
It may be a bit too detail but helps you a lot.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/17/f1b640c9aa054fa12493e48912909c/content.htm
I remember there is some power point slide about the SAP BASIS.
I'll let you know if I get the URL about it.
    regards,
    Yoshi

  • SAPMMC tree disappear

    Dear Expert,
My SAPMMC suddenly disappeared after restarting the server, i have tried to recover it by:
    - adding snap-in, but it showed error when activating:
CAN NOT CONNECT TO SAP SERVICE on PORTAL01
    WebService errror: 20
    Unknown error
    DCOM Interface error: 80070424
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
    - try to run startsap manually from command line (did not work), with command:
    startsap.exe name=SLM nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=<host name> profile=d:/usr/sap/SLM/SYS/profile/START_DVEBMGS00_hostname
    My questions:
    1. How to recover SAPMMC without re-installing CI?
    2. Proper command to startsap manually from command line.
    3. What's the root cause for such problem? How to avoid this in the future?
Since this is solman system that urgently required, your assistance and advice are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rudi

    Dear Debasis,
    Greetings!
I am facing a similar situation.
I had an EP 6 system installed only with the JAVA instance on Windows 2003 server with MS SQL. I had the installation and configuration successful.
I wanted to install SAPGUI in the server for accessing my R3 systems. After installing the SAPGUI, I had to restart the portal server. After this I am not able to find the SAP instance of the Portal system in the SAPMMC.
I tried all the suggestions mentioned by you in the above forum helping Rudi.
    1. Starting the SAPSERVICES - SAP<SID>_00 & SAP<SID>_01
    2. Changing the logon of the services after changing the logon userID from SAPService<SID> to <SID>ADM
    3. Checking the Path to Executable for both the services.
    4. Checking the share sapmnt and saploc and the access permissions for the same.
    5. Starting the SAP System from the command line.
    6. Starting the sapstartsrv.exe from the SAP Executables.
In the last try I got an error message mentioning that the DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARY LIBRFC32U.DLL COULD NOT BE LOADED.
When I searched for the dll file in the server, I found the same in the SAPGUI Installation CD Dump and no-where else.
Could the Installation of SAPGUI 7.10 in the server cause any user permission problems or file permission changes? I remember a message that appeared when I was installing the SAPGUI, it is mentioned below,
+Please switch your Terminal Server to install mode before running SAPsetup. You can do this using the commandline "change user /install" and reset to execute mode using "change user /execute" after installation.
Do you want to correct your server mode now?+
Please advice on the same. Could this cause any changes to the library file and pull down my server when it was restarted?
What should I do now to get back the instance in the SAPMMC.
Expecting your reply at the earliest.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Vineeth
