After a successful install the Directory, AM servers are down. You will have to start them after the install.
Stop start the process below in the order:
Stop/Start Directory Server instance:
Stop/Start Webcontainer instance running AM Server and Portal Server
Restart Cacao /opt/SUNWcacao/bin/cacaoadm restart
If the above does not fix it, take a look at the /var/opt/SUNWportal/portals/portal1/logs/<portal-instance>/*.logs

Portal server on internet problems
Hi,
Scenario:
EP6 portal server visible on internet
Backend server not visible on internet
Accessing the Portal from internet as ADMINISTRATOR allows me to do anything I want. That's ok. No problem with this.
Thing is, I have some BSP's iviews on portal that call bsp's on backend server.
I cannot execute those views accessing portal from internet, PAGE NOT FOUND errors shows up.
But, it works ok when using portal within the intranet.
Tha thing is, we are not allowed to publish backend on internet.
Backend is WAS6.4 with integrated ITS.
Any idea how to fix this?, the point is to be able to run bsp's portal iviews when accessing portal from internet. I read a lot about this, but seems that ITS server must be published on internet. Is it any other option?
Thank you in advance

IPlanet Portal Server admin page problem
the orginal value of "Default Client Type" is "generic HTML" and after i hv updated it as "WML", I cant reach the admin page again.. can anyone show me how to change it back to its orginal value?
Hi there,
You could try exporting the current iwtClient configuration from the command line ie. : "/opt/SUNWips/bin/ipsadmin get component iwtClient > iwtClient.xml" once exported edit the file iwtClient.xml and look for : <iwt:Att name="iwtClient-clientTypes" ..
find the <Val></Val> tags and put the following line into it : "clientType=genericHTML|contentType=text/html|genericHTML=true|cookieSupport=true|fileIdentifier=html|filePath=html"
Save the file and import it again with "/opt/SUNWips/bin/ipsadmin change component iwtClient iwtClient.xml" note this command uses no director "< or >" . Restart the portal server and try it again.
Hope this helps

Solaris 8 on Intel STL2 server board - installation problem
Hi,
I try to install Solaris 8 (4/01) on Intel STL2 server board (P III 866 MHz, SDRAM 512 ECC Reg, Adaptec AIC7899 Dual Channel-one Ultra160/LVD channel, Intel PRO/100+ Fast Ethernet Controller, ATI Rage* IIC SVGA) - without success.
It recognizes all devices but after I choose Solaris Interactive installation (from CD labeled Solaris 8 Software 1 of 2 Intel Platform Edition) it displays:
Booting kernel/unix...
SunOS Release 5.8 Version...
then reboots after 2 seconds.
Since Intel STL2 board appears in the HCL for Solaris 8 I have struggled a while with the problem. I have not found neither post nor driver update information concerning this issue on the Solaris' related Web sites.
Finally, I found the very strange specification update info of STL2 board, published by Intel:
"13. Sun* Solaris* 8 installation issues
PROBLEM: Sun Solaris 8 cannot be installed on the STL2 server board with any BIOS version later than BIOS Release 1.1, Build 15. The system reboots during install and therefore the installation cannot be completed.
IMPLICATION: Installation of Sun Solaris 8 cannot be completed on an STL2 server board running any BIOS release later than BIOS Release 1.1, Build 15.
WORKAROUND: Sun Solaris* 8 will successfully install on the STL2 server board with BIOS Release 1.1, Build 15."
My BIOS release on the STL2 board is 1.7. It's too new to install Solaris 8 !?!
I am unable to get an old STL2 model with BIOS 1.1. Is there a way to update anything in the Solaris 8 in order to set it up on the new model of Intel STL2 server platform?
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
MattThe problem has been resolved.
I got the older BIOS 1.1 Build 15 for Intel STL2 from Intel Internet Support. After I installed BIOS 1.1 instead of BIOS 1.7 had no problem with installation of Solaris 8.

Reports Server 6. installation problem on NT
Hi,
I am trying to install Dev2k Reports server on NT4, SP3. I created the Report server service, configured it to start up service as my user account.
The starting up of the service fails. In the ORAHOME/Rerpot60/server/*.log file I keep getting the 'Daemon failed to listen to port.' error message. I simply have not got a clue, what may be the problem.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

i'm not a software engineer (kind of an installation nurse/paramedic), so i can't help you there. did you email the log to Gayle?

What version of Portal Drive are you attempting to install? Also, what desktop O/S are you using?
We are in the process of going to Windows 7 for our desktop, and we are having issues getting Portal Drive 4.4.6317.17 to work with it. I just submitted an OSS message on it.

Content Server 10gR3 installation problem on Windows 7
Hi,
I just started working on UCM. I tried to install Content Server 10gR3 on my machine with Windows 7 OS. When I try to install, the installation suddenly aborts or hangs until I abort it. Web server (Apache) and DB (Oracle 10g) are running fine.
System has got adequate configuration: Enough Disk space, 2GB RAM and 2 GHz CPU
The same installer worked perfectly on Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2. Can some one reply if UCM 10g is support on Windows 7 ? This, however, is only for learning purpose on my home PC and not for production use.
I also tried running the installer in Windows XP compatible mode. But this didn't help me either. Do, I need to install Win XP to run it or is there any alternative to make it run on Windows 7.
Thank you
RamaHi Srinath,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Could you also please let me know if there is any advanced version of UCM (like 11g) that works on Windows 7 - before I go for a windows XP installation.
Thanks again

I tried on 3 different win2003 server SP2 machines and couldn't able to install properly.
I easily installed and run this HTTP server on my Windows 7 machine. However on the other partition of my PC
windows server 2003 is installed. It didn't worked on this OS.
Once I was somehow able to install OHS on my 64 bit Windows 2008 Server, but again never:((
I got the following error messages during the install.

- Under which user are you installing, does this user have all the rights to create and start stuff.
- Have you first installed a weblogic server (this should be installed) and did associate any components with the weblogic domain?
I usually do not associate anything with my weblogic domain and configure the httpd.conf file for the Apache server by hand instead of using the enterprise manager.
Once the WebLogic server is installed i follow the following steps

Prerequisite Checks --> Next.

Click when the installation it finished and click Finish
Configuration WebTier
Run the file <WebTier-Home>/bin/config.bat.
Click Next
Uncheck Associate Selected Components with WebLogic Domain and click Next
Accept the defaults and click Next
Enter the parameters for the WebCache
Web Cache Administrator Password: password
Confirm Password: password

Portal Server Webserver Installation Failure?
I'm installing SP3 on Solaris 7. Getting 'libplc3.so: open failed: no such file' during install of the SUNWwtws (NES) package. I searched for libplc3.so and did not find it anywhere on my server... Where does this file come from? I am attempting a straight-forward install at this point. Thanks!
Check if the package SUNWwtws is already installed. You can check this using
#pkginfo SUNWwtws
If found, remove the package using 'pkgrm' and then continue with a fresh installation. The file 'libplc3.so' is usually found in /opt/netscape/server4/instances/bin/https/lib which means an instance of the Web Server is running thus clashing in the installation of SUNWwtws package.
