Portal server on internet problems

Hi,
Scenario:
EP6 portal server visible on internet
Backend server not visible on internet
Accessing the Portal from internet as ADMINISTRATOR allows me to do anything I want. That's ok. No problem with this.
Thing is, I have some BSP's iviews on portal that call bsp's on backend server.
I cannot execute those views accessing portal from internet, PAGE NOT FOUND errors shows up.
But, it works ok when using portal within the intranet.
Tha thing is, we are not allowed to publish backend on internet.
Backend is WAS6.4 with integrated ITS.
Any idea how to fix this?, the point is to be able to run bsp's portal iviews when accessing portal from internet. I read a lot about this, but seems that ITS server must be published on internet. Is it any other option?
Thank you in advance
Regards.

After a successful install the Directory, AM servers are down. You will have to start them after the install.
Stop start the process below in the order:
    Stop/Start Directory Server instance:
Stop/Start Webcontainer instance running AM Server and Portal Server
    Restart Cacao /opt/SUNWcacao/bin/cacaoadm restart
If the above does not fix it, take a look at the /var/opt/SUNWportal/portals/portal1/logs/<portal-instance>/*.logs

  • IPlanet Portal Server admin page problem

the orginal value of "Default Client Type" is "generic HTML" and after i hv updated it as "WML", I cant reach the admin page again.. can anyone show me how to change it back to its orginal value?

    Hi there,
You could try exporting the current iwtClient configuration from the command line ie. : "/opt/SUNWips/bin/ipsadmin get component iwtClient > iwtClient.xml" once exported edit the file iwtClient.xml and look for : <iwt:Att name="iwtClient-clientTypes" ..
find the <Val></Val> tags and put the following line into it : "clientType=genericHTML|contentType=text/html|genericHTML=true|cookieSupport=true|fileIdentifier=html|filePath=html"
Save the file and import it again with "/opt/SUNWips/bin/ipsadmin change component iwtClient iwtClient.xml" note this command uses no director "< or >" . Restart the portal server and try it again.
    Hope this helps

  • Configure WebSphere Portal Server to use LDAP (Oracle Internet Directory)

I did configuration for WebSphere Portal to use security with LDAP Oracle Internet Directory (OID). The script for configuring works well (WPSConfig.bat action-secure-portal-ldap)
But when i start Portal Server it cannot start successfully. I did check in log file and found a error on SystemOut.log as attachment log below. I don't know what happen with WebSphere Portal Server.
If you guys know how to fix it please let me know or point me some documents to configure this again.
    Thanks in advanced.

com.ibm.wps.ac.DomainAdministratorNotFoundException: EJPSB0107E: Exception occurred while retrieving the identity of the domain adminuser/admingroup uid=wpsadmin,cn=Users,dc=localhost,dc=com.

There is no clear documentation available to enable custom security but IBM info center has decent documentation for LDAP based security. I would say follow the steps mentioned for IBM directory and then modify the necessary configuration parameters for OID. This should solve your issues. For better help open a PMR with IBM to get necessary quick help.

    Thanks Aydan

If you haven't solved this yet, it looks as if your DB server is not
running, hence any elements that rely on a db server, such as connection
pools and elements that use those pools such as datasources are not
    going to start correctly.
It seems that properties are not properly assigned in the
startPointBase.cmd script on Windows NT (haven't verified behaviour on
2000 although I know it works out of the box on Solaris). I'd suggest
starting the pointbase server manually with the correct pointbase.ini
file and then starting WLS/WLP afterwards.

  • Sun Java System Portal Server 7 Problems with IE7

    Hello,
I have just finished deploying Sun Java System Portal Server 7 on a Sparc box when I try to log in on IE6 or IE7 nothing happens.
What could be the problem and how do I get the logs of what could be going wrong
    Thanks

is the problem only w/ IE6 and 7? or is that just all that you've tried? :) on a *nix platform, you can find the portal logs at:
    /var/opt/SUNWportal/logs/...and
/var/opt/SUNWportal/portals/<portal-id>/logs/<instance-id>/...there is also the web container log, the location of which varies depending on the vendor. for example, for SJS app server 8.2, the logs are at:
    /var/opt/SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/logs/hope this helps.

  • Portal Server Admin Console login problem....

When I installed Sun Java Studio Enterprise 7 (trial edition) I also installed the server package (The second zip file). During the install I was only prompted to enter ID and password my Application server. But I do not know or have an ID and password for the portal server. When I launch the Portal Server Admin Console which is really the Access Manager's Admin console, it prompts me to enter my ID and password. The ID and password I have setup for the Application server does not work. Now my problem is, I cannot access the portal server on my machine. Does any one know how I can find out what my ID and password is? or how I can access the portal server?

  • Portlet problem on Oracle Portal Server....

    Hi all,
    i m using Oracle Portal Server 10.1.2.
    Problem is as follows:-
There are two portlets (P1, P2) added on two seperate portal tabs( TB1,TB2) respectively under Portal Builder.
On portlet P1 when i do a action say Save and it saves the data.
now i go to portlet P2 which is on tab TB2 and when i come back on TB1 to go on portlet P1 then in the PortletRenderRequest i still get action value as Save and it saves the previous data once more.
in short....:- even moving on portal tabs the previous action of the last rendered portlet is firing.
how it is persisting the action in request , even after i have done with moving on portal tabs.
even on refreshing the page it is adding the same data again.
But this doesn't happen with IBM Portal Server.(Tested the same code with all the above conditions)
could any one please have some thoughts ???

    Hi Guys,
One good thing i found is
When i perform the same operations (as described in the first post of this thread) with JSR168 Portlets then it is working Perfectly.
So i feel , only the problem is with JPDK Porltet and not with Oracle Portal Server.
It's good to see that JSR168 are working fine except
    portletURL.setPortletMode(PortletMode.EDIT) ( till now i found this only )

  • Problem  with importing par file in portal server 6.2

    Hi everyone,
I got the following error when trying to import IFRAME provider into portal server 6.2.
    Operation failed.
ERROR: provider element has no version attribute
Below is the command I used. I run it as a file - I supply the password at the command line.
    /opt/SUNWps/bin/par import verbose overwrite runasdn uid="amAdmin,ou=People,dc=accesscollier,dc=com" password $1 IFRAMEProvider.par dc=accesscollier,dc=com provider=IFRAMEProvider.
This used to work in Portal Server 6.0. I looked through the Portal Server 6.2 Desktop Customization Guide and the Developer guide for portal 6.2 but did not find any reference to version number.
    Thanks.

  • JSF problem in JBoss Portal Server 2.6.0-CR2

In JBoss Portal Server the default page will display all portlets you create by default. The portlet in question, developed using Java Studio Creator, works perfectly on the default page. However, once included in a page on the "dashboard", it no longer functions correctly. Text fields get inexplicably cleared, buttons do not get enabled as they should, and a selection in a drop down list box actually invokes the code for a button click.
Any help understanding what is going on here would be highly appreciated.

  • Sun portal server 7.1 + Internet explorer 8

Hello ,i am using Sun Portal Server 7.1 and i would like to know if there will have a patch for IE 8 compatibility.
I ve got many users on IE 8 and they ve got some troubles to display correctly some part of the portal.
Does anyone know if Sun will release a patch for SPS7.1 / IE 8 ?

    Hello.
I have been working on SPS7.1 for a while and everything displays correctly in both IE6, 7, 8, Firefox 1.5+, Safari 2+, etc.
Didn't you customize your portal ?
In this case, you may have to check your own CSS and JS on IE8. In my case, there were only a few issues that were resolved by reverting to CSS2 strict compliance and taking care of margins and paddings.
    Good luck.

  • Publish portal page on internet ??

    Hi all !
I have a problem that I need some guide. I assume that I have just finished my portal page, so now I want publish my page on Internet.
Which tool that Oracle AS portal support to me solve this problem ???
    Thanks alot.

You need to set your server and Internet connection to be used for this purpose, for that you need to open your ports where the portal is going to be accesed and check the IP that you have for internet, and this will be used to acces. If you want to access using a name, you need to get a domain and register the IP that you have for internet.
Also you may have to add an entry in WebCache to tell to attend any request that cames from the internet IP.
    Greetings.

  • Portal over the internet

    Dear all,
We are planning to open Enterprise portal to the internet.
I would like to know what all settings to be done to enable it.
Are there any documents available in this regards
    Thanks and Regards
    Bharathwaj

    Hi Bharathwaj,
Yes, you put the intermediary server in the (outer) DMZ. For that you only have to open port 80 or 443 (SSL) in the outer firewall, which shouldn't be much of a problem since these are the standard HTTP(S) ports. You also need to open some other ports in the inner firewalls. There's a document on http://service.sap/security > Media Library > Literature on all TCP/IP ports used in a SAP system. It will depend on your network architecture what ports to open. There's in my opinion no need to change the IP, you only have to make sure the intermediary server is available through the public DNS (e.g. wwww.mycompany.com). Making the Portal (securely!) available over the Internet takes some good planning!
    Cheers!
    Frodo
