Portal Show & Tell

Every Thursday our portal team gets together for a "Brainstorming & Bagels" session.
We discuss ideas to drive adoption, increase usability, improve training and generally promote our portal.
In order to enhance our meetings we are wondering if anyone would be willing to give us an inside peek of your portal during our meetings! We use the Go2Webinar tool, but could also do the meeting over WebEx or any tool that you use. Or if you are a local organization maybe we could talk about an onsite overview.
In particular we are interested in looking at :
custom navigation
design/layout
custom portlets & integration
customizations & unique development of the existing products (collab, studio, publisher)
promotion techniques
training
Knowledge Directory - Meta Data/Customizations/Taxonomy
We have a portal on a budget and can learn from every portal out there, so please don't be shy:)

Just to clarify as there seems to have been some confusion with others that have contacted me – we are not looking to start a user group at this time (although we are thinking about it!), instead we are just looking for other ALUI customers out there that would be open to presenting their portal in a casual way to our small team. Obviously this is very selfish in nature in that we are looking for ideas to help us improve out site.
At the same time we are offering to demo our portal to any company that wants to see what we are doing and talk about the problems we face in every arena.
From extranets to adoptions, training to architecture and everything else!

Whenever I am downloading the books the ADE portal showing that (Error getting License, Line Server Communication Problem E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12). finally downloading is not happening ?

I am facing some problems with ADE when tried to download my e-books and eventhen out of 30 e-books from "sample books" provided in ADE I tried all books but only 4 nos were downloaded correctly while I checked the working of ADE in my machine and I couldn't download the e-books of my study material is still pending, whenever I am downloading the books the ADE portal showing that (Error getting License, Line Server Communication Problem E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12). please help me and waiting for somebody's valuable suggestions

do you have a compatible os for the ade version you're trying to use?
ie, what os/what ade version?

I would think that it shouldn't matter if the ADE is 2.0 or 3.0.

How to debug: A person is created on FIM ok but Notification Email template body [//Target/Manager/DisplayName] gives null but Portal shows Manager is present

We create FIM accounts from Metaverse flowing attributes including Manager. Manager is not-null.
We have a transition In set MPR which sends a Notify to Helpdesk and Manager when a new FIM account is created.
Sometimes but not always the Notification shows Manager as null: //Target/Manager/Email or //Target/Manager/DisplayName is blank.
But, When we view the portal and look at the User he does have the Manager attribute present!
When I look at the Request & Approvals/Search Request block and open up the Create Person event, Manager is not shown in the list of Attributes but several other reference attributes are.
But manager -> Manager definitely is flowed from MV to FIMMA in the Classic Rules attribute flow.
How do I trace what is going on here?

One way is to send mail notification about user creation is after the objectsid is populated in portal. This will not only ensure that a user is created in AD but will also get the manager attributes (email) as it might be getting populated by
AD i suppose. You can use any attribute to get populated in FIM portal after the user is created in AD. Then the transition in MPR and a notification workflow attached. :)

Perios in portal shows wrong

Hi All
The Long Range Requirements report (MD47) visible via the portal for suppliers. It is showing in weekly buckets instead of periods(Months).
The portal side has no problem, but that some configuration or setting must have changed in SAP ERP ,
Any body suggest where to check

SCEM 2012 SP1 Self-Service portal showing blank in Other Machine

We are using SCSM 2012 SP1 as a help desk management system. Certificate is trusted to the client -PC but still Self-service portal SCSM webpart is not showing some client-PC(It showing blank). But all necessary prerequsit are installed properly.

Pls/portal shows: Error: The portlet could not be contacted after SSL enab

The OCS /pls/portal page shows: Error: The portlet could not be contacted, I believe this happened after SSL enabling the system. Anyone out there seen this errof before?

FYI
This happens if you remove port 80 as a listening port webcache/em, etc. Oracle claims it needs port 80 for internal communication. For whatever reason the /pls/portal providers are registered in non-SSL. Not sure if Oracle will provide a fix or ?

Pop-up windows from the portal showing address bar

Hi,
I am not sure where to post this thread, but here goes. My client has the CRM web UI which has been integrated into SAP Portal 7.3. I am not aware of how this is done as I am not familiar with CRM.
The issue being faced is that when a user tries to create a new opportunity etc, the pop-up window opens. But an address bar is seen in the pop-up. This was not appearing when they were on an earlier version of EP.
I am not sure where I should be looking to remove the address bar. Is this something related to the web UI and not the portal?

Sponsor Portal Showing Sponsor Information

Has anyone had success with getting the Sponsor Portal to provide the sponsor information for guest accounts? This would be a very helpful piece of information.
If this information is not displayed on the homepage, can it be made available in the details of the user?
I am currently using ISE 1.2 Patch 3.

You mean you want to know what sponsor created which user from the Sponsor Portal, with a sponsor having right for GroupAccounts or AllAccounts, right ?
This is, to my knowledge, currently not possible, but you can get this information from Admin Interface, under operations > Reports > Guest Sponsor Mapping

Portal shows different amount of data for different users

please give me why this is happening...
when the user logs into the GUI he can see the whole screen containing 10 inputfields but in the portal one user is able to see the whole of the page while the ohter is able to see only the first 7 input screen.....
why is this happening...
is it related to some undocumented check over the content or it is a problem of how the system was defined over portal landscape in system administation....

Portal show expired certificate after re-generating

Our portal server SSL certificate has expired and users were prompting for Warning screen for this expired cert. After follow the instructions for how to re-generate Server SSL cert per instructions from the link -> http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f1/2de3be0382df45a398d3f9fb86a36a/frameset.htm
We managed to update the certs "ok". However, in some section of portal, we're still received the expired certificate warnings. Is there something we need to do more to resolve this issue (eg. restarts some services?)

I don't see how it is possible for the portal to be serving two certs (one valid, one expired), assuming you replaced the cert on each dispatcher node (i.e., more than one J2EE box).
Maybe it's a browser cache that's trying to use an old cert. Clear the browser cache and retest?

Bam portal showing http 404 error

Hi,
When i open BAM portal in our QA server it works fine, i can see all views and activities,
But, when i open in my local system it gives "HTTP 404 error" - "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."
There is no error in event log,
Anonymous Authentication , ASP.Net Imersonation and Windows Authentication are enabled
Here is screenshot of .net authorization rules specified.
The same is working fine in Development server.
I think it is some IIS issue.

"HTTP 404 error" as the error says is resource issue not an authorization issue. I think you're missing some files required for BAM portal. Rerun the BizTalk configuration tool, remove the BAM portal and rerun it again to install the BAM portal
from scratch again.
Also ensure you have the relevant .NET framework version is set in Application Pool which is used by your BAM portal
