Portal statistics

Hi,
In the Oracle Portal, how can you track the following and generate reports of the same, possibly in a Portlet?
Number of users logged in a day, week etc.
Portal usage by day, month, year etc.
Portlets usage by day, month, year etc.
Thanks,
prasad

If You're using 9.0.2 then you can use Clickstream for this purpose. This product is part of 9.0.2 but will be replaced by an alternate product in 9.0.4 (Warehouse Builder).
If you don't want to setup Clickstream and you have upgraded to 9.0.2.3, check this link on Portal Center:
http://portalcenter.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/ARCHITECTURE/BIZ_REPORTING_FROM_ACCESS_LOGS.HTM
If you're still on Portal 3.0.x, there is a Monitor Page available for the administrator with the type of reports you request.

  • About portal statistics

    hi Experts,
I'm using wc11.1.1.5, my customer wants to dump portal visit data into database so they can analyze it by using some tools, the typical data they need are:
    1. How many times user visit a page or space
    2. How long it takes to wait for a page response
We found these kind of info in em, but customer needs more than that:
    1. The data is organized by individual wc server, no summary data
    2. The data will be accumulated from 0 after wc reboot
    3. It's not printer view frindly
Does anyone know if we can get those data in database or by using MBean?
    Best regards

Why do it yourself if it already exist? Have you looked at the analytics module of webcenter?
It has all the reports you are talking about out of the box... The analytics engine also puts all this info in the database so you can write your own reports. I haven't made a blog post about that yet but I have some examples on this in my book. http://www.packtpub.com/oracle-webcenter-11g-ps3-administration-cookbook/book
I'll see if i can make a blogpost about this.
The EM reports are more a real life monitoring. It's not intended to act as an analytics module.

  • Statistics on portal

    Hi all,
I'm really interested on how can I know the number of times the search functionality in our portal has been used? Is there any standard statistic?
    Thanks very much in advanced.
    Xavier

    Hi Xavier,
I just came across this thread, and I assume that you have solved it meanwhile.
Just for the records, you could add some custom JavaScript to your masthead (or wherever your search bar is located). This way, you can keep track on all search events.
These services are also covered by No-Limits Portal Statistics: [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EP/NoLimitsPortalStatistics|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EP/NoLimitsPortalStatistics]
    Thanks

  • Portal 10g R2 Statistics

In Portal 9i, I was able to get portal statistics on page views, lists of active users, etc... where would I find this on 10g R2?

Oracle states that "With the move to OracleAS Portal Release 2, and the introduction of OracleAS Web Cache into the portal architecture, the information in these tables became inaccurate. Therefore, all the pre-built reporting and charting portlets were removed from Portal." which is a major disappointment when they offer no drop-in... I've opted not to use Web Cache and will probably install WebTrends on the server which is what Andrew Sethi recommends... http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/oow_10gr2_1333_sethi_andrew.pdf

  • Building portlets with PL/SQl vs java

    Hi
We are planing to use oracle 9iAS application server(Enterprise version)to build portal application.
Can someone suggest me which one should i use, building portlets with j2ee or building portlets with PL/SQL.
what are the advantages of web providers over database providers?which one is the best way of building portlets.

    Hello
I've been using Portal for years now, and I'm still developping in PL/SQL. It's very simple and quick to developp. I'm even not using any database providers, I'm just invoking my procedures via their URLs with some Ajax hidden components, and I could developp some screens like employees vacations managements, trombinoscope, portal statistics, etc ...
I learnt at Oracle how to developp some "true" portlets with DB providers but it's not usefull for me at this time as I don't need portlet customization etc.
    BUT
if I had to developp a really big project with several developpers I would use DB providers.
And maybe I would use Java but it takes rather long time to be efficient with this language and it needs to be a realy big project for I start using this language. And as explained above Java offers more compatibility with 3rd party products.
And last but not least, one has to know what Oracle is more and more dealing with Java, the next 11g version that has just released is much more using Java than 10g does, and that's true for every Oracle products.
So it's just a matter of skill and time.

  • Safari wont open Links since yesterdays Update

Why won't Safari load Google or Facebook links since yesterdays update? It seems as if Safari can't convert the link provided by Google into the real URL of the site, the linked page just keeps blank and it stops loading after a few seconds.
Also, I can search with google by typing my search in the search bar, but if i try to open google.com directly, it won't open.
Furthermore, some pages (like this: http://epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/portal/page/portal/statistics/themes) most of the time don't open at all, but sometimes it shows up only as plain blue text without any graphics.

I have already tried resetting Safari and its Preferences, but that didn't help.

  • Tracking logon user's IP address

    Hi gurus,
We are implementing an external facing portal in EP 7.0. As part of audit trail, we need to track the IP address of the user logging into the portal. While I have been going through the default activity report provided + configuration of new reports, nowhere do i find the mention of tracking the client IP address. I went thru Prakash's blog on Writing your own portal statistics tool, and was wondering if we do have to take up such a customization in logo.par?
I am seeking suggestions on how to track and record the client IP address once a user logons into the portal.
    regards,
    S Rudra

    Hi,
Thanks for the single reply to the question .. not to mention awarded good points too ... configuring the way mentioned gives the details into the standard log file.... one has top again filter out the details
I solved the problem myself ... HOW .... here it goes
But I was looking to get custom report, to get the login userid, IPaddress and time of access.... built a custom class to write the details into a text file and stored it into a server location ... then I modified the masthead par to implement the same ... not the logon.par ... currently working to get the output in download excel file ...
    Cheers!!!!

  • Loading info from actvity data collector into SM BI client

    Experts:
We enabled  actvity data collector  in our EP, and want to load the data collected into the SM BI client.
We are not sure how to do the load.
Could you provide some links here?
    Thanks!
PS: EP is monitored by the said SM7.0

    Hi Christy,
You may want to read about "No-Limits Portal Statistics".
It provides a WebBug system to write custom data via ADC (Activity Data Collector), and a JavaScript API to collect custom characteristics and integrate with internal tools like BI or SM.

  • Problem with Activity Data Collector with web dynpro

    Hi Gurus,
We try to use the Activity Data Collector to create portal statistics. We activate the service, define the file formats, and files generates successfully. After that, we load those files into BI, and create some query. Analyze queries look the following problem:
There is a web dynpro application which in portal (in web dynpro iview), and the log files non contains every hit.
For example, 2000 users used this application, but the log files contains only 13 users.
Can yout help me, what is the problem?
    Thanks

    Dwa-
Did you create activity reporting service similar to below link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/74eeda9ba26975e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm
If you have used it. Activity reporting service which you created will not record the Webdynpro activity.  I think the above one is more of KM reporting service.
Try creating activity report with below link. But portal version required is EHP1.

  • BI Statistics cannot be captured in Portal or Query Designer

We're experiencing inconsistent behavior of the BI Statistics capturing mechanism, possibly after our recent upgrade to  SAPKW70015.   It appears that only queries run via the Bex Analyzer are correctly captured in log tables (RSDDSTAT), whereas queries run via the Portal are not (instead, we get unknown entries with object name RSDRI, rather than query/infoprovider names in the log tables).
We've developed a very sophisticated application to report on BI usage ( top n queries by infoarea, by infoprovider, by CPU, by DB-records, by OLAP-records,  all queries used by a user etc) and to find out who is using which query, as well as associated resource consumption, at any given time, in real time.
This bug completely throws us off balance. We can no longer  monitor query acitivites on the Portal; nor can we trust the BI statistics we've collected in the last two years.  Another BI installation has reported the same problem to SAP.  SAP seems to think upgrade to SP17, which could be a major step,  will fix the problem.  Is there anything we can do in the mean time to fix this problem without having to wait for upgrade to SP17 ?  Is there an OSS note on this issue ?
    (we have SAP_BW Release 700 SP15; SAP_ABA/SAP_BASIS Release 700 Level 13; SEM-BW Releae 602 Level 1; ST-PI 2005_1_700 level 5; PI_BASIS 2006_1_700 level 2; ST-A/PI 01H_BC0700 level 0)
Suggestions will be very much appreciated.
    Henry Hone.

    Hi,
If the BW statistics are not recorded for a Web Report, this may be because recording was not activated for at least one query (or its InfoProvider). Depending on the calculation sequence, the BW statistics may also not be written for the other queries. The solution is to activate the BW  statistics for all of the Web Report InfoProviders.
    Check oss notes

  • Portal Url for BI Statistics - Urgent

    Hi,
We have BI System and all statistics cubes installed. Can anyone let me know what is the standard URL in portal or where exactly can i find the information about this.
    Thanks,
    Arvind M

    Hi Arvind,
I am not clear what exactly what are you looking for. Default url fro portal server will be
    http(s)://<server_name>.domain.com:50000/irj
you need to have a authorized user to user this. Are you planning to host BI reports on Portal, then you need to have content and system admin roles. Check this with your Basis consultant. They will provide you required access.
You need to create a BI system in Portal and then create iview for BI reports.
    Check this for further details

  • Statistics of acces to my portal

    Hi
I want to know if it's possible to do statistics of number of acces to my portal
    Urgent.
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, thats the marketing story and the GUI and help files does suggest this too.
Running these reports and graphs is a different story.
Most of the reports/graphs doesn't run well. I've got various symptoms ranging from 'no output (blank screen) to 'incorrect numbers', to 'graph shows 3 login requests from a user, detailed report (by clicking on the link) shows 50 requests'.
I'm trying for about 3 months now to get an answer from oracle, but despite the efforts of oracle customer support (bug logged, bug with high severiy logged, talked with product manager) oracle development took 2 months to produce this statement: 'Development is aware of your issue and is currently working on an answer.'
That was a week ago ....
The best I can currently do do is using a third party log analyzer that makes a report of the requests in access_log, but this don't show who is logged in at what times and how often. It it also almost impossible to see what content areas and pages are visited, because the URLs of portal are not exactly 'user readable'.
Furthermore the portal monitoring doesn't see hits on pages which were cached. (See thread: http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum70/HTML/001350.html)
    I'm sorry, this doesn't help.

  • Issue to follow-up hits statistics on portal pages due to web cache

    Hi,
I follow-up hits-statistics on my portal pages using a simple PL/SQL element on each page, that INSERTS into a specific table, in order to follow-up hits on each portal pages.
My problem is that, due to the web cache, the PL/SQL element that performs the INSERT, runs only sometimes, and therefore my statistics are not accurate.
How could I run my PL/SQL element each time the page is accessed ?
    Thanks for your help;
    Best Regards,
    Jean-Christophe

    Hi JP,
"Our WBT courses do not get followed up at all in the new standard way."
We experienced this as well after implementing the solution in note 1796928. The cause of our problem turned out to be a missing authorization on the user account we use to run the web content player. In our case, the user had no read authority for infotype 1001 so function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C never made the call to function ZLSO_IF_AUTO_CONFIRM.
To discover the cause, we needed to debug function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C, however since it runs in a separate task we couldn't debug directly.
To get around this, we added messages of type X at various points in the function's enhancement code. This forced the function to dump at runtime, and we then looked at the runtime error log to see the contents of the dump message. This enabled us to find the problem. Maybe you could try this same debug-via-dump approach to identify the source of your problem.
Another thing to check is that users have authorization object P_LSO_FOUP.
I also want to mention that as part of our implementation, we made the same enhancement to function LSO_CP_WRITE_SCORMDATA as was made to function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C so that function LSO_CP_WRITE_SCORMDATA also calls function ZLSO_IF_AUTO_CONFIRM.
    Cheers,
    Amy

  • Portal Usage Reporting and Statistics

Does any body know/use software that can do Portal Usage Reporting? It do not must to be SAP software.

    Marta,
You have a few options. One option is use Performance Viewer.
Follow SAP Note 766839 for SAP J2EEngine 6.20 PL25+ and SAP Note 766598 for SAP J2EEngine 6.20 SR1+. Out of many out of the box reports, you can get User activity reports. It will give you username, number of requests, duration of all requests(ms), average duration of request (ms) during the time when you will monitor the system. You can either schedule monitoring for a duration or start and stop during a short duration.
    Thanks,
    Swapan
