Portal Support

For three days now I cannot view any objects or create any new objects in the New Portal. I have tried different browsers and different PC's , I just get a grey screen.
I tried to raise a ticket with MS as biling but they dont seem interested. Our subscription is billing only a but the T&C's say break fix support is available for all. It seems that the portal at least is broken for me , how can I alert MS
of this potential bug\issue and get it fixed.

As Manu suggested, did you try the GA portal yet? (http://manage.windowsazure.com).
If so, what's the status of your services? If they show 'Disabled' it might be that your subscription has a limit cap which was reached by the usage of your existing services. Azure thus automatically disables your subscription so that no further usage will
exist.
The services might also be disabled if the payment system Azure uses was unable to substract your usage cost from your card. They're sending you several failure notices (up to 7, if I remember correctly) and should the payment still fail, your subscription
will be disabled alltogether, along with any existing services.

Currently, the version of SAP NetWeaver that is J2SE 5.0 as well as Java EE 5 compatible is the [SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (NW CE)|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-ce]. It does not provide the "full" Portal capabilities, however it does come with a "Portal Lite" and supports Portal applications development scenarios.

Dears,
I am Basis Consultant and planning to learn portal Administration.
So I want to know what are daliy portal Support activities from admin prospective.
Please suggest.

It depends on portal to portal.
I can tell you some importan activities
1) Transport activities like pcd content transport, KM transport, System Config transport, transport of par, ear files... ..
2) user Administration activities like creating users/groups and assigning these to roles etc...
3) Integration with SAP Applications like R3, BW etc....
4) checking proper permissions in pcd content and KM content if exists
5) Portal mointoring activities like checking the logs in NWA, you can also use portal activity report iviews for monitoring.
Go for EP100, EP200 trainining which is useful for portal system administration.

Is there any portal support for chained / cscaded selects?

Hello Experts,
Is it possible to have html selects which are chained/linked to each other so that if I select a option in the first select box the values in the second select box should chnaged based on the first select choice.
If so an example would be greatly appreciated.

This would not be portal support but javascripting...
Here is a simple example that if you select plane the second select box will change to have 5 options all saying new text:

Hi all members, I want to know, just like Sharepoint Portal which are other portals to connect with Business Objects. Which are other portals to be supported with Business Objects? Kindly any member guide here.

I would suggest going to the Business Objects Support site and doing a search on "portal integration kit" (and before clicking on search, choose your product via the "Products:" indicator, as well as choosing the Document Types of "Kbase Articles", "Product Documentation", and "Technical Papers").

Par file com.sap.portal.support.browse.par overwritten - where is original?

This is a bit embarrassing to admit but I had some serious finger trouble here and managed to deploy a new par file with name com.sap.portal.support.browse.par. This of course fu..ed up my browsing functionality in the support area and I need to deploy the original.
I tried to find it in my production portal, but I can't seem to be able to find the right location to download it from. Can anyone help.
I am on portal 7.0 sps 15.

Hi,
You can find com.sap.portal.support.browse.par par at ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/temp on the portal production server. Then you can deploy it to the development system.

IView not found: com.sap.portal.support.browse.default.

When I try to navigate to System Administration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Browse deployment, I get the following error:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
iView : N/A
Component Name : N/A
iView not found: com.sap.portal.support.browse.default.

I referred this thread [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=188079|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=188079] and removed the .bak extension from the file com.sap.portal.support.browse.par.bak and uploaded it in System Administration --> Support --> Support Desk --> Portal Runtime --> Administration Console ,in the Archive uploader.
But the problem persists. Could anybody shed some light on this issue?

In order to get more information, you should search for your exception id "04:45_02/10/08_0037_13390350" in the default trace file.
See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/57/5f1140d72dc442e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm in order to see where the def trace file is found.

The code which extracts the endpoints from the services-config.xml (ServerConfig.as)
will now check to see if WSRP_ENCODED_CHANNEL is set and use that URL instead.
This limits these portlets to a single channel/endpoint.

extra information (such as session IDs) are appended the wsrp-url value instead of the

are you installing as administrator, or as some domain user? Please remind you need local administrator privileges (these I/O errors happened only to me if I am installing as some domain user)

The example URL it gives looks a little suspect - there shouldn't be any spaces in it.

Your NWDS patch should not be higher than portal patch number.U can find ur portal version and patch in

Does the portal support chinese content search?

I just installed iAS 1.0.2.2.1 on a 8.1.7 DB(with 8.1.7.1
patch),and my DB character set is UTF8.
But I found that the portal interMedia context searching could
not find out the item by using chinese keyword,It only work use
english keyword.so I just find the index only do the english
index,not any chinese character.
does Anybody try the chinese character to work in portal?

Webcenter Portal Support for ADF Mobile Browser

Hi All,
I am currently working on an ADF Mobile Browser Application for WebCenter Portal.
The main issue I face is that WebCenter has some really powerful taskflows and connectors. Is it possible for us to make use of these taskflows in ADF mobile browser? It seems that when used within the trinidad framework, the taskflows are broken.
I understand from documentation that "Except for page fragments, pop-up in dialogs, and region support, you can use the ADF task flow to develop ADF Mobile browser applications. ADF Mobile browser application that use the ADF task flow only support the trinidad-simple skin family"
Does this mean that taskflows that use the page fragments, pop up dialogs dont work or that you cant use them within jsff and pop ups?

Does Portal support syndicated content?

My users would like to be able to push syndicated content
out to various client's
portals (or web sites) while maintaining control over that content.
I recall reading that such support would be provided in a later release
( i.e. 9i time frame) via
Content Syndication Server ( built using Dynamic Services). However, I
couldn't
find any additional information.
Could someone confirm and/or elaborate.

Weblogic Portal support

Does OEPE support Weblogic Portal development? Do I need a seperate plug-in to see the portal related features that I see in the Workshop?

The OEPE installer does not bundle with WebLogic Portal development tool. The portal development tool is packaged separately (bundled with OEPE).
