Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a  screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing.   If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article.

  • Connection Pooling in Portal?..Can we do that?

    Hi to all.
Not sure if this the correct forum to ask, but maybe anybody have any ideas..
    We have a problem.
We are using Oracle Portal R2 9.0.2.0.1.
The case is, we found out that the most of the database connection we create while using JSP Portlet, didn't closed...
and the result, maybe it makes our Portal performance slow..
So, we have to use Connection Pooling in the Portal.
How can we do that, and can we do that in Oracle Portal?
    Thanks.

If you created the connections you should explicitly close them also.
    Are you doing that ?

  • Unable to install SSL Certificate - ADMIN4118: Only one server certificate can be installed at a time

    Hi,
We are trying to install SSL certificate (Verisign Class 3) on iPlanet Web Server (version 7). However, at the final step we are getting the error "ADMIN4118: Only one server certificate can be installed at a time"
We are following the below steps,
    Under "Server Certificates" tab,
         -> Click on "Install" button.
-> On "Select Configuration" click on "Next" button.
-> On "Select Tokens and Passwords", select default token as "internal" and click on "Next" button.
-> On "Enter Certificate Data", select option as "Certficate File" and give path to the certificate file which is having .p7b extension
-> On "Certificate Details" we are getting warning as "Duplicate Server Details Found" and it's by default using the existing certificate's nickname.
-> On "Review" page after clicking "Finish" button, an error is displayed saying "ADMIN4118: Only one certificate server can be installed at a time"
There are multiple sub-domains availble and the new certificate we want to install contains one more sub-domain.
So, say currently the subdomains present are,
    1.abc.com
    2.abc.com
    so on...
and now we are trying to install a SSL certificate having one more subdomain say 10.abc.com.
Please let us know if you have solution to this problem.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
That error is most commonly seen when you are trying to install a certificate chain into the Web Server.
The chain should be installed using the "Certificate Authorities" tab per the following steps:
    1) Login to the Admin Console.
    2) Click Edit Configuration from Common Tasks > Configuration Tasks.
    3) Click the Certificates > Certificate Authorities tab from the Configurations page.
    4) Click the Install... tab from the Certificate Authorities (CAs) page.
An Install CA Certificate Wizard opens. The wizard guides you through the settings available for installing a Certificate Chain. Select Certificate Chain when prompted for Certificate Type.
You should then see the CA and intermediate certificate(s) listed in the security database.
If you have access to MOS, more details can be found in the MOS KM Note:

  • Is there a technology that can trace and count a link ?

Is there a technology that can trace and count a link ?
For Example ,how can I trace links and calculate how many times have they been clicked in CNN News ?
Or how can I calculate  which link  is the top link clicked by people all over the world ?  I need this .

lovat wrote:BTW HOW  does google news select its news ? Don't they choose the most clicked ones ? There must be a method .At least  google can do this .
First, there's no way to trace how many links are "clicked" world wide (maybe there's an ancient alien race which has the technology, but we haven't met them yet ).  You can do that for single web sites though.
The following is very simplified because I think Google uses some complex algorithms to calculate the relevance/importance of certain pages and for example their appearance in the Google News, page rank, position in search queries etc:
Google spiders the web and checks how pages link to each other by scanning the content of the spidered webpage. For example the more external pages link to a certain news item are found, the higher is its relevance. The "credibility" of these external sites probably has also an impact on how Google calculates the "relevance" of a site. For example if the New York Times links to an article, this link "weights" more than a link from any other random web page. I also believe that news sites are spidered way more often and in shorter intervals than the rest of the web to make services like Google News possible.

Hi, of course you can uninstall Firefox, but that should not be necessary since it is a different program from IE, and there should be no interaction between them.
To see the bookmarks bar on Firefox, please right click in the tab bar - but not on a tab, and tick/check Bookmarks Toolbar. If you wish, you can also do the same for Menu Bar, or to bring it up temporarily, just press the Alt key.

  • Guest Portal - untrusted certificate

    All,
My ISE integration is on our local domain, for example  company.local. I created a rule in the authorization policy that used a static IP address, say guest.company.com for our guests to use for the redirection. When guests get the web auth redirection to guest.company.com they are getting the untrusted certificate.
I tried to import a certificate from our external CA, and faced errors because it didnt have the .company.local SAN. I did generate that with the CSR but my external CA doesnt give me an option to include this.
How is this rectified so our guests hit the web portal without getting a certificate error?

    Hi Jason,
From my experience, this is a common problem.  Typically, what I do on deployments is obtain a trusted 3rd-party signed certificate for my HTTPS usage on the ISE appliances. If you want to use your internal CA certificate to authenticate EAP for your domain computers and other sessions,  you can still do so.
Note: Sometime in 2014 (it may already be active) the 3rd-party certificate signers are no longer going to allow .local or other internal domains on their certificates.
With that said, I've normally been deploying the ISE appliances with an external domain name, example, ise.company.com rather than ise.company.local.  You can setup split DNS on your network to allow ise.company.com to resolve to your internal IP.
    Hope this helps.

  • Provisioning Portal Distribution Certificate status "Pending Revocation"

I had to renew my distribution cert before submitting an update to my current app. I went in to the Provisioning Portal and revoked my active cert and it is now stuck in the "Pending Revocation" status. I have submitted a ticket to Apple support and also called them twice. Doesn't seem this is high on their priority list, but it is for me as I need to get this app submitted for review.
Has anyone had this problem, and if so, is there anything I can initiate to help fix this? It's been stuck on this status for 5 days.
    Thanks!

We are in the same situation - our rejected Distribution Certificate is still *Pending Revocation* for over a week now.
Because we are in Australia, I have contacted Asia dev support. However I was simply told to to read the *iOS Developer Program User Guide*, specifically:
+"we ask that you please reference the "Obtaining your iOS Development Certificate" section of the iOS Developer Program User Guide found within the iOS Dev Center"+
When I replied that this does not solve the problem of a certificate stuck in *Pending Revocation* status, I was told:
+"Thank you for contacting Apple Developer Support regarding distribution certificate.+
+We are currently reviewing your inquiry and will get back to you very soon. We appreciate your patience."+
That was four days ago. My request for further information has not been answered yet. I'm not sure how else to move this along so we can submit an update to our app. Does anyone know?

    Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/"
    # Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
    # This is the main Apache server configuration file.  It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/> for detailed information about
    # the directives.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
    #  1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
    #     whole (the 'global environment').
    #  2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    #     which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    #     These directives also provide default values for the settings
    #     of all virtual hosts.
    #  3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
    #     different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
    #     same Apache server process.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path.  If the filenames do *not* begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/logs/foo.log".
    # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
    # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
    # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located
    # will be used by default.  It is recommended that you always supply
    # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
    # confusion.
    ### Section 1: Global Environment
    # The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
    # such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
    # can find its configuration files.
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # NOTE!  If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
    # mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available
    # at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);
    # you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
    # Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.

    # If unspecified (the default), the scoreboard will be stored in an
    # anonymous shared memory segment, and will be unavailable to third-party
    # applications.
    # If specified, ensure that no two invocations of Apache share the same
    # scoreboard file. The scoreboard file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK.
    #ScoreBoardFile logs/apache_runtime_status
    # PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
    # identification number when it starts.
    PidFile logs/httpd.pid
    # Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
    Timeout 300
    # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
    # one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
    KeepAlive On
    # MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
    # during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
    # We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
    # KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the

    # DefaultLanguage nl
    # Note 1: The suffix does not have to be the same as the language
    # keyword --- those with documents in Polish (whose net-standard
    # language code is pl) may wish to use "AddLanguage pl .po" to
    # avoid the ambiguity with the common suffix for perl scripts.
    # Note 2: The example entries below illustrate that in some cases
    # the two character 'Language' abbreviation is not identical to
    # the two character 'Country' code for its country,
    # E.g. 'Danmark/dk' versus 'Danish/da'.

I am not expert in these, but please check out the following things and see whether it would solve your issue. (All these changes can be easily rolled back in case I'm wrong :). So make note of what you do)
As per your httpd.conf, you have chosen an automatic configuration of Apache by OWCI installer itself. What it does is create an imageserver.conf file in a separate directory and these settings will be included in your httpd.conf as you can see in the first line: Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/".
If you check the imageserver.conf in that location, you would find a line like: Alias /imageserver/ "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/". This aliases the original path "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/" to /imageserver"
To confirm whether this is done right, check the following:
    1. Acces 'http://<server ip / server name / localhost >/' from your browser
This should display the Apache home page (as per your httpd.conf, it uses the default port 80; so no port number required)
    2. Access 'http://<server ip>/imageserver/' from your browser
This should display the directory structure (if its not disabled) inside your 'C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/' folder. Also confirm that all the subfolders are accessible.
    3. If all the above is right, it means that your imageserver settings are right. Please check your portalconfig.xml for the correct settings: For example, <setting name="HTTPPort"> should be 7001 in your case. If its something else, change it and restart Weblogic for the settings to take effect.
    Hope this helps.

  • What technology that can be used for the creation of Need Definition?

Being on SAP SRM 4.0, we currently have a requirement for creation of Need Definition( Basically a build up for the contract ). Need being collected from the Backend systems need to be validated and approved by Buyers & Lead Buyers in the SRM system.
Technically, this task is broken down to below tasks.
    1) Creation of need definition screen - Basically a template where a need can be created with Items, Sub Items and other related information
    2) Selection Screen for Buyers and Lead Buyers - This enables the the Buyers to select the Need Definition assigned to them based on the status.
    3) Report - List of all the Need Definition( Item and Sub Item)satisfying the selection of step 2. with the possibility to navigate to the Need Definition screen ( Step 1) upon selection.
    Now the question is,
what technology is recommended for the above Tasks? We thought it would be BSP but do you guys have any suggestions...
Do we have any issues in displaying the report in BSP? please let me know
Remember we are version 4.0 of SRM.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Mohan.

You can use conditional styles to address specific browser issues (this is more than likely the markup you noticed).
    Here's a good guide:

    Hi ,
We have a peculiar case where in EP7 portal is  throwing "page can't be displayed" error when accesed through IE 6 but is opening through firefox. This shows no network issue nor with the host file.
Can you pls advice on this as this is a prod portal.
    regards

    Have look in the deployment folder and sub folders;
    ... /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/j2ee/cluster/server<N>/apps/
    sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-inf/deployment/pcd
    ... /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/j2ee/cluster/server<N>/apps/
    sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-inf/deployment/temp
and check if there are any files here with the extension ".err". If
there are any please rename those files removing the ".err" extension
    and restart the J2EE engine. So they will get redeployed;
Please remember to evaluate my reply,

  • Employees' photo cann't be showed in portal MSS. Can anybody help me?

Our portal system met one urgent problem in MSS for providing employee's photo from ECC6.0 system to portal.
It is like that: some of our portal mss accounts, who are department managers, can not see their employees' photos in the portal page through their computers. But the others do not meet the problem in their computers. Even for the same employee, his manager can see his photo in certain one computer, but can not see the photo in another computer. I guess maybe there are any conflicting IE configs to the portal for showing photo datas.
Has anybody met this similar problem?
Who could be so kind to help me? I will very appreciate you.

    Hi All
The same person photo has different behaviors in different client PC. Seems to be a problem in OS or browser.
Does any user have this situation, please advice. Thanks

  • Why do we need a portal server, why can't an application server do the same job?

what is the need of a portal server?
why can't the same work be done by an application server alone?
what is are the features of portal server which make it more attractive rather than an application server?

    What Portal provides is
    authentication
    authorization,
    user management,
    security ( SRAP),
content presentation frame work ( URL Scraper provider, RSS provider and JSP provider )
dynamic vpn ( through netlets you can integrate any tcp based network application )
    Wireless portal :-),
and a variety of other features ..
I don't believe app server provides all these features. Requirements of these features necessitates a portal market which the portal server addresses.
