Portal to SAP ECC XI Scenarios

Hi Guys,
I want to develop Synchronous XI scenarios from Enterprise Portal to SAP ECC. All scenarios will be triggered from Portals, will get information from SAP ECC and send it back to Portals, synchronously.
Is SOAP to RFC the only available type of communication that I have ?
What about performance ?
Thank you.

Portal means a front-end application...in normal case the user will not be comfortable to wait to get a response back (portal --> pi --> some backend application).....hence it is recommended not to use PI (or other middleware) in between...unless you have a very strong reasonfor it.....have a Portal --> backend application config.
In a previous project many of the Portal scenarios were directly integrated with SAP ECC system.
Imagine you use google and then google inturns runs it search along other applications to give you the results....the wait time.

  • How do we map this scenario in SAP ECC

    Hi Gurus,
I need a help from you, to get your perspective on how the below mentioned business scenario can be mapped in SAP ECC.
Scenario: The client is engaged in a business of supplying surgical kits to hospitals. The surgical kit is actually a case with two shelve in it. Tray 1 holds the equipments for surgery and the Tray 2 holds the implants for surgery. There are various different kits depending upon different surgeries. Depending upon the need/demand from the hospital appropriate kit is sent to the sales rep, who then delivers the kit to hospital. Now when the kit is supplied to the hospital, the surgeon uses the equipments from Tray 1 to perform the surgery and consumes some of the implants (as needed) from Tray 2. Once the surgery is done, the equipments are cleaned by the hospital and the kit is sent back to the sales rep.
At this point the sales rep need to raise an invoice to the hospital for the implants that were consumed from the Tray 2 and also need to charge for the service for using the equipments. Both the equipments and implants have serial numbers and each kit has a serial number.
    Ask from the business
1.They should be able to track which kits are out in the field and should be able to see the inventory within the kit.
2.Should be able to consume the implants from inventory, which have been consumed during surgery and raise an invoice to the hospital for consumed implants.
3.Business should be able to charge for the equipments used
4.They should be able to track the inventory in the kits
5.They should be able to depreciate the equipments in the kits.

  • XML File-- XI-- SAP ECC Scenario

    Hi guys,
We have the following scenario in XI XML File>XI>SAP ECC, and we need to call a BAPI at R/3 side. Which do you think is the best way to implement this, either calling the BAPI directly from XI or using an Inbound Server Proxy ?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Addition to the above ensure that the BAPI Commit is called ....
or expose the BAPI as the RFC so that the commit and rollback operations can take place in the RFC itself...
Keep the above options during the design..n implementation...
Recommended is RFC call rather than proxy when standards are available n  volume of the data is less..

  • XI demo scenarios for SAP ECC 6.0

    Hi!
I succesfully installed SAP ECC 6.0 (IDES with several clients) and would like to implement some simple XI demo scenarios in order to interchange the data from one client into another client via XI.
What is the best Getting Started scenario and where can I found the documentation therefore?
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Holger

    Hi Holger,
According to me , the simple scenario to start with will be File to Proxy.
Search on SDN as to how to configure Sender file adapter ( use this link [Configuring the sender file Adapter|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm] )
and then search how to configure Receiver XI Adapter to communicate with R3 system ( use this link [Configuring Receiver XI Adapter|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm] )

  • Multi SAP ECC Server Connection to Single SAP Portal

    Dear Experts,
We have connected multiple SAP Client of same ECC server to Single SAP Portal and we are able to view data using various standard SAP ESS/MSS Objects.
Is it feasible to connect Multiple SAP ECC Servers to one SAP Portal Server for showing data from varios servers using Standard ESS/MSS Objects.
    Any help appreciated.
    Rgds
    Gulshan

    Hi Gulshan,
You are right....these are the JCO names being picked up by standard ESS/MSS applications.
The Standar DCs will be calling these JCO names only while connecting to the SAP Server.
    As you described,
The portal do have system alias name as unique name.
You may need to use some customizations.....plz find the below threads...they may be of your help.

  • SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 in SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6

    Hello experts,
Before describing any think let me tell u that i am very new to this field.
We are configuring SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 in our SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6 .I have already installed ABAP add on for EPC in ECC system.
I have also installed trial version of primavera6 in another system. So now how can i connect my ECC system to Primavera6 through Enterprise Project Connection(EPC). I have gone through the installation guide for SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 SP2.But i could not get any clear idea.
Any reply is helpful for me..
    Thanks
    Debasis

    Hello Debasis,
Post EPC installation, you need to perform configuration of EPC through portal. You can see it listed under configuration--> configuration scenarios-->EPC.
During configuration you will be asked to define path of you primavera installation and a user on that system with sufficient permissions. This user is called APS user.
Try to do a mock configuration run on sandbox/dev system and then you can follow the guide.

  • MessageBox on Adobe Form in SAP MSS PCR for SAP ECC 5.0

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the behavior of Adobe form messagebox in SAP HR MSS PCR (Personal Change Request)
I tried to test how the messagebox looks like, and so I created a PCR scenario with an Adobe form. This form contains a datetime field. I added the script "xfd.host.messageBox("this is message", "this is title") to the "exit" event of the datetime field. Then I did all the necessary steps so that this PCR is displayed in the Portal.
Now at the runtime, when I select a date value from the datetime field, the messagebox is displayed, BUT within an empty Adobe Reader page. It is not displayed on the top of my adobe form.
But the strange thing is that when I use tab key to navigate through the datetime field, the messagebox is displayed on the top of my adobe form, without the empty Adobe Reader page.
I also tried my script with several different event types, including "Change", and "Validate", it behaves the same way. But when I tried it with the event type "MouseExit", no empty Adobe reader page is shown up at all (of course, this is not the right event type for me)
The environment is SAP ECC 5.0, SAP MSS business package for ECC 5.0, SAP Portal 7.0 (NW 2004s), Adobe LiveCycle 7.1, and Adobe Reader 8.1.1
Has anyone experienced this? I'd really appreciate any comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Harrison

    Antony,
The Adobe Reader version is 8.1.1
Just wondering if you used messageBox in interactive forms with ISR framework, and it worked well for you?
    Thanks.

  • Update Process Order Confirmations Back to SAP ECC

    Hi,
Is there a document or step by step guide which explains how i can update  SAP EARP with process order confirmations from my shopfloor?  Below is the scenario i am looking for help in
    1. There is a SQL server table where the SHOP floor update the quantity manufactured against a Process order.
    2. I need to pick up that data from the SQL server table and update the ERP against that Process order.
Can any one explain how this can be achieved.
I checked the sample's and the templates in SDN but none of them actually show how to update any ERP?
    Please advice!!.
    Regards
    Suraj

    Check this one
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60ac6bb8-a684-2b10-208d-b90883004a5e
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/204a13d0-399d-2b10-ec84-9c254cd7efd4
You use this component to enable the shop floor operators to record their production order and process order confirmations using a touch screen user interface. In SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) operators must complete many steps to confirm orders. Instead, you can use this interface, on a touch screen to enter the production performance easily and effectively. You can also use this component to obtain operators' work lists and information on their current activities.

  • SAP Personas using SSO to connect SAP ECC

    Hi,
We configured SAP Screen Personas test landscape.
When I launch the mainapp page, the system is prompting for user credentials.
Then I get "System Selection" screen where the system I have configured  (SAP ECC).
When I click on system backend, an new popup ask for user and password (SAP ECC credentials).
We are trying to understand if it is possible configure SSO to access ECC backend.
So, the ECC backend credentials will not be required anymore.
I am not sure if it is possible this configuration.
According SAP note 1684886 - License conditions of SNC Client Encryption, I think this scenario requires additional license.
Any help to resolve this is highly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Leonardo.

The project requirement is avoid the user can log in with SAPGUI and run the standard transaction.
So, the user can log in only with SAP personas user/password and run the transaction on backend with a modified screen with the restrictions of authorization roles.

First thing you need to do is install the Connector on both your work station where you run Crystal Reports as well as the SAP Server where the data is.
So I moved your post to the SAP Integration Kit forum.
