Portal - TREX - ECC

Hello All,
Portal version = EP7 SP14
Our Portal server resides on dual (ABAP+Java) stack.
Have integrated Portal and ECC with one TREX server.
Requirement - Should be able to search SAP ECC data from Portal. So how should this be done.
Please guide.

I think the same is done when SAP CRM is implemented.
Portal users can search for products in Product Catalog in SAP CRM.
But again, I did not find no document on how this Portal <-> TREX <-> ECC search is done.

Single Sign On Partially Working Between Portal amd ECC.

We are running ESS in EP 7 SP18 for ESS and some transactional iViews to an ECC 6 box with EHP3.
We have SSO setup between the two, and it seems to be working for the most part.
I have setup the JCo Destinations (both Application Data and Dictionary Data) and everything is working fine. We have the authentication method set to ticket for the App Data connections, and SAPJSF for the Dictionary Data connections. I hit the Test link on all the them in SLD, and they all work with no problem. I can test an ESS iView from the PCD, and it works as epected, with no additonal logon required.
However, when I run a transaction from the Portal to the ECC system (CAT2, SU01, SPRO, etc.), I am prompted for a logon to the system. I can input my user name and password from that point, and can access the transaction.
I am setup correctly in both systems and have all the authorizations that I need. I have stepped through the SSO setup process, republished and reactivated services in SE80 and SICF respectively, and still no luck. My ITS Connection Test fails, and sugeests a firewall problem with the port. However, this is not the case, as I can successfully login, so the port can't be blocked.
What's odd, is that I have never had it work in one spot, and not the other. It is usually all or nothing.
I thought I would reach out to the community to see if anyone has any suggestions. The two main differences between this system and others I've built is EHP3 on ECC, and the Portal and ECC have the same sid (but do not reside on the same server).

Check Note 1083421 . There is a wizard called SSO2Wizard_700.ZIP which you can download from the Note. the wizard when downloaded can be accessed via the Portal URL followed by /SSO2
OK...so this can help SSO logon ticket issues from the ABAP side and it automatically checks for inconsistencies. Its like the template Installer or the Support Tool we have for BI.

Federated BI portal to ECC portal.

Dear Experts,
I Have configured Federated portal BI portal to ECC portal, when I have seen privew of iview (BI Portal) from ECC Portal,
here I'm getting error like
"the system is unable to interpret the sso ticket recieved".
Please let me know any configurations missing.

When I access report from Bi portal its showing fine.But when I access from ECC portal its giving the error.

LSO CP installed on a non Enterprise Portal or ECC (ABAP+JAVA) server

Has anyone installed the LSO CP on anything besides SAP Enterprise Portal or ECC (ABAP +JAVA)? If so what are the requirements for determining an approprate server for installation. How was this deployed without the use of the JAVA deployment tool? What issues if any did you encounter when performing this installation and deployment?

CP needs to be installed on the J2EE engine.
The URL of the Content Player needs to be specified in the IMG.

TREX - ECC 6.0 searches in different tables

Hi, have some search related questions:
- Is it possible to use TREX for combined searches from non-indexed tables in ECC 6.0 (where data is stored in different areas such as material, classification, BOM, customers, vendors, address data and so on)?
- Is it possible to mirror tables in ECC 6.0 to TREX via change pointers so the search data is "fresh" (the returned search result will be used in combination with other data and then stored back to ECC 6.0 from the NW portal)?
- Is it possible to have cross related search attributes (fields from material master, classification, bom, dms, address and so on) on the same tab in the sap standard search help (sap search help will be called from ABAP WebDynpro's)?
The main issue is to do combined searches with different combinations (number of input fields (10-20) related to different modules/areas) in ABAP WebDynpro. To do searches with outer table joins in tables without
keys and indexes seems not be doable.

Create SSO on SAP portal to ECC 6.0 EHP4 backend

Hello,
I want to create a SSO connection form my SAP Portal server to my ECC 6.0 EHP4 Backend system.
My JAVA Portal is installed on the same system as the ECC 6.0 backend system.
For the configuration I follow the steps as described in the document: http://www.sap-img.com/basis/configure-the-sso-single-sign-on-for-portal.htm.
At point 5.3 I have to set the Backend System as "ACL" in the Portal. So Iu2019m still in the Visual administrator from point 5.2 but now I go to the path Server --> Services --> Security Provider --> Ticket.
Here I choose the authentication tab and want to add the com.sap.security.core.server.jass.EvaluateTicketLoginModule. Buth when I press the Add button I get a list of available login members. In this list there is no com.sap.security.core.server.jass.EvaluateTicketLoginModule login module available. Does someone know what Iu2019m doing wrong or how I could add the correct login module?

So If I am on the "Authentication" tab I press the Add new button
In the list which shows up I select the u201CEvaluateTicketLoginModuleu201D
Here I change the name and option value to trustedsys01=<PORTAL_SID>, <PORTAL_CLIENT>

WebDynpro ABAP application issue from Portal after ECC 6 upgrade to SP14

Hi,
We have recently upgraded the Kernel, ABAP and Java stack of ECC 6.0 system to SP14. After the upgrade most of the WebDynpro ABAP applications doesn't load and just flickers when run from Portal as a WebDynpro iView, but they run perfectly fine when accessed directly using URL. These were running fine prior to the upgrade. Can someone suggest what can be going wrong.

Hi Mukesh,
As Gajendra said, restarting the service in SICF sometimes works for us, but not always. We have also had to deactivate the entire Webdynpro node, and then reactivate it and all of the services below it.
Obviously something changed in the SP, given that we now have to do this every time we create a new WDA application.

Hi,
ECC is different and Netweaver is different. After installation,
Create your WD ABAP application, and you have to integrate this into portal to open your WD application
in portal.
Web Dynpro for ABAP provides portal integration API. It allows to navigate from a Web Dynpro iView to any other iView. Below codesnip can be used to navigate to an SAP transaction iView and pass a parameter to one dynpro field.
WE have different portal events to navigate to portal, we ahve to use them.

WDA - is there always a 1:1 ratio for # of WDA on EP portal to ECC sessions

Our portal developer has recently created and added 3 WDA (Web Dynpro for ABAP) which get loaded on the initial screen when the user signs on to EP. These 3 new are in addition to the single application which they previously were using.
Review of the backend ECC system, we show that user now has 4 plugin HTTP sessions (vs. 1) which are reflective of the 3 new additional web dynpro's.
From my basis perspective (not fully understanding opportunities for EP development, best practices and strategies) a single user generating 4 sessions in ECC seems a little excessive and I do not believe that we are going to be able to just absorb this additional demand for processing / memory.
Is this a common design to have so many sessions generated at inital signon?
Realize that there's not a "right" and "wrong" here --- but looking for opportunities for a more creative solution other than purchasing hardware.

Yes, in this case each session is itself a connection. Is there a reason you don't share the OCIEnv across them all? Are you sure it's the number of OCI connections that's the problem and not the implementation encapsulating them? Have you profiled this application to see if it's really OCI?
I only ask because I've seen many apps which use more than 5 concurrent connections.

Need a Business Package for Vendor Portal with ECC as backend ?

We are looking for a portal business package which can talk to backend ECC system and has the functionality to create/change/display POu2019s, Invoices, Inventory and reporting functionality. All this functionality needs to be available to Vendors via an External Facing Netweaver Portal.
I have gone through the list of BPu2019s available at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/contentportfolio and found some BPu2019s available for Buyers which has the above required functionality, however it has exposed ECC transactions directly via Transaction iViews which we cannot expose to Vendors.
Also there is one Business Package called Supplier Collaboration which delivers the required functionality, but unfortunately we do not have SRM/SUS components in the project.
Please let me know if you know business package to implement or if not best practices to achieve the functionality.

Error when connecting Portal to ECC system

I am trying to connect Portal system to our ECC system.
We are on Portal 7.00 ECC 6.0. Portal is on SP 18
I performed following activities:
1. Created certificates on both sides and imported them
2. Created the ECC system in Portal with followin values
1) Connector:
     Application Host : pos_bmt.com:8000
     SAP Client:100
     SAP System: REC
     Port: 3200
     System type: SAP_R3
   2) Web AS:
     Web AS Host Name: pos_bmt.com:8000
     Web AS Path: /sap/bc/bsp/sap
     Protocol : http
   3) ITS
     ITS Host Name: pos_bmt.com:8000
     ITS Path: /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/
     Protocol : http
   4) User management
     Authentication: SAP Logon Ticket
     Logon Method: SAPLOGONTICKET
     User Mapping Type: admin, user
3. Crearted Alias and did connection test
   1) SAP Web AS Connection was successful
   2) ITS Connection was successful
   3) Connection Test for Connectors was successfu;
After then, I created an iview, but I was promted to login with an error : u201CSSO logon not possible; cookies must be activated in the browseru201D. So I performed a test on the support desk, SAP GUI for windows was successful, but SAP GUI for html was failed with the same error message, u201CSSO logon not possible; cookies must be activated in the browseru201D]
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Please check your WAS Profile Parameters in RZ11:
For enabled SSO,WAS should have the possibility to create and accept SSO-Tickets. For that the Profile Parameters should be:
login/create_sso2_ticket = 2
login/accept_sso2_ticket = 1

Portal & TREX Performance problems!

Hi All
I am having an issue with a portal we have just implemented, in terms of performance and TREX processes.
It appears TREXIndexServer.exe consumes a large amount of processor resource and causes the portal to stop working. When the process is killed off everything goes back to normal!
Can anyone help me fix this?

We currently only have 7 indexes running on the portal and they run twice a day once at 8.00am and 12:30pm indexing and classifying a total of around 300 documents. These are all stored in the database!
The Server its self is quite high spec and should not have a problem.
It seems that the TREX engine !

Portal Landscape - ECC

Our Client Plans to have the Separate Portal for LSO,Erec and XSS(ESS,MSS) and Backend will be only one instance
When we have Individual portal how the UWL Should be planned to setup.
We are planning to setup a single UWL.In this Case will workitems of LSO works in XSS ?How UWL setup has to be done.
Please share your experience.
Client wants to have separate portal due to support packs and Upgrade..they go for ugrade individually..

UWL pulls data from ECC using a XML..
This XML is auto generated based on configured system (which points to ECC).
Now in your case...
You have 1 ECC instance
and 3 portal instance...i.e. EP1, EP2, EP3
Now Because system registration will be same in all EP1, EP2, EP3 for UWL...because there is only 1 ECC system...
terefore to separate tasks that belong to
LSO - EP1
Erec - EP2
XSS(ESS,MSS) - EP3
you will have to edit the XML as per your requirements.
i.e. in EP1 XML configuration for UWL should only contain Tasks specific to LSO
in EP2 XML configuration for UWL should only contain Tasks specific to Erec
in EP3 XML configuration for UWL should only contain Tasks specific to ESS/MSS
This is what i believe should happen in your case...I hope experts comment on the same...........

Portal- TREX Server Error ?

Hello All
I am facing one strange issue.
I am working on portal Version: 7.00 SP9 and have TREX 7.
I have created the custom search options,component, and result sets.
Sometimes when I click on search button the J2EE server gets restarted automatically. What may be the reason ?
Also Basis team says that in portal server under tmp directory (Unix machine) lot of dump files are getting created. Is it due to TREX cache ?
Please help me resolve the issue.

That at least sounds a bit like the known MemLeak problem when searching, see
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1047364 - "Memory: Java bug caused in large numbers of search results an out of memory."
The note is for KMC SPS 19 on NW04, but I expect that the same problem will be there on NW2004s / 7.0 with that old SPS 9.
So I would advise to upgrade your installation to the latest SPS.

Customer creation through Web service portal in ECC

Hi All,
We have a requirement where we have to Create/ Change Customers (Tcode XD01/ XD02) in ECC through Web service portal linked with RFCu2019s.
1.      There is standard FM for this SD_CUSTOMER_MAINTAIN_ALL, But SAP standard functionality/ notes recommend not to use this FM for such requirements.
2.      Since we have periodic configuration changes for Customers, The option for using BDCu2019s is also ruled out.
3.      Since we have to do the error handling and reporting back to web service portal end as well, Using IDocu2019s also looks tricky at this moment.
Please suggest ways to accomplish this. Any input is welcomed.

SD_CUSTOMER_MAINTAIN_ALL is used in standard during the maintenance of a consumer using the standard customer master data transaction XD01 & XD02.
It is not intended to be used out of the transaction and in no case it should be used out of its original context. Due to the specificity of the function module, out of the original context we may face limitations and data inconsistencies.
This is precisely what you will face in your case.
For the maintenance of customers, there is NO BAPI and NO direct function module.
There are some functions modules like the one above where the name is looking nice. But these should not be used.
Below ECC 2005 (6.00), the only solution was batch input and DEBMAS idocs. See [note 384462|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/384462]
Starting with ECC 2005 (6.00) and above: a synchronisation tool has been introduce. See class CMD_EI_API and VMD_EI_API
