    Richard,
You'll need to have 1.0.2.2 to be installed on the middle tier before performing the upgrade for your portal 3.0.9 upgrade repository on the database end. So that means, you'll need to wait for the Linux download of iAS 1.0.2.2 to be available before beginning your upgrade of the portal repository, assuming that your middle tier of iAS is also on a Linux box.
iAS 1.0.2.2 does indeed include Portal 3.0.9, of which Portal 3.0.9 components will be installed during the upgrade process along with the upgrade of the middle tier. During the upgrade process, the installer (from my personal experience on NT), will notify you that it is performing an upgrade installation of your middle tier, provided that you specified the middle tier's ORACLE_HOME when executing the oracle installer.
Just be sure to read and follow the 9iAS Migration guide before beginning your upgrade of the middle tier to iAS 1.0.2.2. After upgrading the middle tier to 1.0.2.2, the actual upgrade of the portal repository was extremely simple by comparison.
The upgrade of the portal repository took a few hours (my recommendation is to invoke it off before leaving for the evening), and it will leave a detailed logfile for you to peruse afterwards, if you choose).
    Best Regards,
    Harry

  • 9iAS Portal Upgrade Script for HP/UX

I would like to know if we have an upgrade script on HP.

The upgrade for HP/UX should be available in the next two weeks. The HP product line is working on both the 2.2 -> 3.0 and the 3.0.6/7->3.0.8 and expects to deliver them very soon.

  • Portal Upgrade Failure

    Hi!
I ran the portal upgrade script against a copy of my production database to bring it up from 3.0.8.9.8 to 3.0.9. About an hour after the script was running, the database abruptly came down. When I looked in the altert log, there were numerous ORA-07445, ORA-12805 and ORA-00600 errors that only materialized after this upgrade script started running. It filled my system up with thousands of trace files and core subdirectories which I had to delete but the filesystem never filled up. Now I can open the database but it won't stay open for very long before it abruptly shuts down. Here's a startup from my alert log:

I am running Oracle 8.1.7, 9iAS 1.0.2.0.1 (have a separate 1.0.2.2 which I'll point to the upgraded portal), and Solaris 2.7. There were no errors in the alert log before I started the upgrade script.
Has anyone else upgrading just their portal from 3.0.8.9.8 to 3.0.9 experienced this difficulty. Thank GAWD this wasn't my prod portal...
    Much thanks for any reply....Kate

Thank you Bob! My problem turned out to be that the database backup I used to restore a database copy was actually taken outside of my backup window before the database was shutdown. I should have known that using the init profile allowcorrupted_logs was a harbinger of worse things. Anyway, since the database was completely destroyed by the upgrade script, I used the next week's backup to restore a copy of the databse -- this time with much better results. The upgrade script worked fine after this.
Thanks for the heads up on the bug though. It will probably be useful. Thanks again.

  • Upgrade script for 1.0.2.0.1 to 1.0.2.1

Could someone please tell me where to find the upgrade script to go from 1.0.2.0.1 to 1.0.2.1?
    Thanks

9iAS 1.0.2.1.0 software temporarily removed from OTN. Considering customers like you,OTN will restore 1.0.2.1 to the download pages and they should be doing so shortly.
Portal upgrade scripts are already available in otn. Please check the url,

Please keep track of the latest updates on OTN.

  • Portal upgrade without iAS upgrade

I have upgraded my Portal instance from 3.0.6 to 3.0.6.
But I didn't upgrade my iAS instance, and I got this message at login:
    "Call to WPG_SESSION API Failed.Error-Code:6550"
I read somewhere that the problem might be, that I didn't upgrade iAS 1.0.2.0-> 1.0.2.2
Is it possible to use only the mod_plsql module of the iAS 1.0.2.2 with the upgraded Portal 3.0.8?
Will it work, or I must upgrade my whole iAS to 1.0.2.1 and to 1.0.2.2. Then why give Oracle the Portal upgrade script?
    Thanks.
    Paszty

Thank you for your quick answer.
    I've got another question.
Where can I find the iAS upgrade scripts?
We have got iAS 1.0.2.1 and 1.0.2.2 install CDs, but we didn't find any upgrade options.
We have got now an upgraded Portal 3.0.8. Which iAs upgrade must we use? 1.0.2.1 or 1.0.2.2 or both?
    Thank you.

  • Upgrade script for 2.1.0.9.3?

did anybody try to upgrade a WebDB version
2.1.0.9.3 to Portal 3.0? The upgrade script
for WebDB2.2 to Portal30 fails due to the
version number. I do not know the differences
between WebDB 2.1.x and 2.2. If the changes
have not been too significant, is it possible
to modify the existing upgrade script
    (WebDB2.2 -> Portal3.0) and still run it?
Thanks for any help or hint
    Joerg

For all of those upgrading to Portal 3.0 from WebDB 2.x, you will first need to upgrade your existing WebDB installation to WebDB 2.2 first before doing the WebDB 2.2 to Portal 3.0.x upgrade. It is a requirement that your WebDB environment be at version 2.2 before upgrading to Portal 3.0.x.

  • Oracle portal upgrade issue

    Hi All,
I upgraded the older 10.1.2 oracle portal TO oracle portal 10.1.4 on windows.
Next step is i have to apply a patch. As i execute the patch related batch file it fails. it keeps giving me following error.
    MISSING_COMPONENT : oracle.webdb.midtier, 10.1.2.0.1
This Oracle Home does not have components/versions required by the patch.
ERROR: OPatch failed during pre-reqs check.
OPatch returns with error code = 150
what could be the issue and how to resolve ?
    thanks,
    pp

are you getting these errors in the pre-upgrade logs or in the actual run?
You would have to go to each of these lines individually in the upgrade logs and see what is the context of these errors and what are the specific details of the objects which are throwing these errors.
For instance, go to the lines 7682-7700 and see what is causing these errors. which objects, and which exceptions in those objects.
    just as a side note:
always make sure you do not have any invalid objects in your schemas with any kinds of compilation errors before running the upgrade scripts.

  • URGENT: Where are the upgrade scripts for Tier1 ?

I found the upgrade scripts for 3.0.6/3.0.7 to 3.0.8 for Windows NT and Solaris here on Technet, but where are the upgrade scripts for the Tier 1 platforms ? I urgently need the ugrade script for Tru64. Please help.

Sorry for the confusion - the page should be updated very

  • Windows NT: 2.2 - 3 upgrade scripts

When will upgrade scripts be available for converting Webdb2.2 to Portal 3.0 on Windows NT.
The FAQ says January. Can you be a bit more specific than that? I need to schedule my effort between multiple clients and some indication would be very useful. I appreciate that things may change. Will the scripts be available this week? The end of the month?

We noticed that the upgrade scripts for Solaris also have the code needed to upgrade NT (i.e. wupgrade.cmd). We tried this, and it seemed to work fine!
While I will not guarantee that it will work for everything (since Oracle has not certified it for this), you could try it. I would suggest you do what we did, which was to move the WebDB instance over to another machine (or at least another instance), and do the upgrade then look at the results to make sure it works before you cut the scripts loose on your production instance.

  • Portal upgrade from 308 to 309 on 8.1.7.2 database

    Sun Sparc Solaris, v.8
    8.1.7.2 database.
    Upgraded middle-tier from 9ias 1.0.2.1 to 1.0.2.2.
Now trying to upgrade portal using upgrade script.
Ran through OK first time, but noticed a lot of errors in log - checked on your forums and seem same problem as http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum70/HTML/002149.html
    So, I tried adding systemtrig_enabled=false to init.ora.
Try re-running the upgrade script and I get:
**Upgrade aborted**. This version of the Oracle Portal/WebDB is not supported fo
    r upgrade.. UNKNOWN
If I take systemtrig_enabled=false out, then the script runs OK - BUT leaves me with all the errors relating to WWSEC_API being invalid and column GRANTEE_APP_ID not existing.
If I try and re-compile invalid objects after upgrading, I can't get rind of a lot of the invalid objects!
If I can't set systemtrig_enabled=false to get round the problem, how do I get rid of these invalid objects??
    Thanks,
    John Ferguson.

Is this a supported workaround by oracle though?
It appears from Metalink that I am hitting bug 1900555.The workaround is to upgrade database from 8.1.7.0 to 8.1.7.1, then do portal upgrade, then upgrade db to 8.1.7.2.
I do not have enough spare time and available downtime from users to spend a day and a half doing this....
Please can someone from oracle confirm svm's solution is valid alternative.

  • Upgrade scripts for other platforms...

We are in a need for upgrade scripts (Portal 3.0) for other platforms like HP-UX, when will these be available?
Or can we use the scripts for the other Operating Systems, provided we invoke them from that O/S?

We'll be posting new versions of the upgrade scripts for HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux and others shortly on OTN. (I don't have an ETA, but it won't be long, I think). Earlier versions of these upgrade scripts have also been posted to metalink.oracle.com.
