Portal upgrade to 904 still 'looks like' 902

Hi,
I've completed an upgrade of mid tier and infrastructure 902 to 904. On checking in Global Settings it shows 9.0.4.0.99 as the portal version. However, the environment looks and feels like 9iAS.
Am I missing something here?
Any thoughts.

Click on the full screen button in the upper right hand corner of iPhoto and you'll see what was shown in the Keynote address on the new MacBook Air. That was the full screen mode.

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content

In Itunes Store click on Purchased under the Quick Links section on the right.

Why is it that I downloaded Firefox 4.0 but I do not have the orange firefox box in the upper left hand corner of screen. My screen still looks like the old verison of firefox. My screen does not look like the one in the video. looks nothing like the one

My Firefox 4.0 does not look anything like the videos you show about the features of the new Firefox. My screen looks totally different than yours. It does not have the orange box in the upper left hand corner of the screen. My screen still looks like the old version. I have the logo on the top of my screen with Ask a Question a vertical line Firefox Help - Mozilla Firefox.
Under this line I have File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. Below this line is a tab with Ask a Question Firefox Help and a +. My husbands screen looks identical to the orange Firefox Box in the upper left of screen. I would like my screen to look identical to the ones shown in your videos. I only have one version of Firefox 4.0 my husband does have the Firefox 4.0 plus the Beta version. How do I add the Beta version? I have Windows Vista running systems. Please help. Thank you

Is it the software update checking that you are talking about?
If its this can you just select 'Cancel' to stop it? or force quit?
It possible that the computer has lost its connection to the Apple servers and just needs to restart the process.
Or,
Is it a particular software update that you are running that has frozen up?

I have XP and my firefox 4 doesn't look like the new one, it still looks like the 4 beta i downloaded, any help?

i had the beta for firefox 4 downloaded on my windows xp computer. then when the official 4 came out i down loaded it. But it doesnt look like the website says it should, there is no awesome bar, no firefox menu button and the tabs are still at the bottom. it basically still looks like the firefox 4 beta that i already had.

The final version might have picked up your existing profile preferences...
To restore your location bar, right-click after the menu bar and choose Navigation Toolbar from the pop-up.
Use the same pop-up to change the position of tabs (check Tabs on Top) and finally to remove the menu bar. When the menu bar is turned off, you will get the orange Firefox button.
Does that work?

IPhoto after upgrade still looks like the old one

So yea the thing is. after i upgraded iphoto to newest in Mavericks
it still looks the same. shouldent it be black now ?
mine is gray and looks like the one in Lion 10.7

What's going on? I upgraded to Firefox 4.0, but it still looks like I've go ver. 3.6.??? When I start the browser, it takes FOREVER to respond at all. I'm using IE 8 to send this. The previous version worked fine.

Hi there - I'm having similar bold text issues with a customer's instance of Firefox 5.0.1 running on Windows 7, Home Premium, SP1 on a Lenovo laptop. There are two issues to be exact:
# text that is supposed to be normal weight appears bold
# some text has an incorrect amount of spacing (padding/margin) around it
These symptoms appear only on this one machine and appears to be fine in Firefox 5.0.1 across at least 3 other machines running Win 7 as well as all other browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari) we've tested in across a variety of platforms.
I've attached an image with a side-by-side comparison of the normal view next to the broken view as it appears on this specific machine.
I've tried unchecking the hardware acceleration option and restarting Firefox - did not work.
I've also tried running Firefox in Windows XP compatibility mode (as suggested here: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/how-to/repair-the-google-and-gmail-bold-font-issue/) - did not work.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

FF4 installed, (3 times) but it still looks like 3.6. What happened?

After upgrading to FF4, and viewing the tutorial, it appears that the only change is that my Yahoo Toolbar has gone away. I do not have the Orange Firefox button in the upper left hand corner, None of the features as described in the tutorials are there. I downloaded and re-installed FF4 3 times, and when I initially open the browser, it is blank, I have to hit the Home button to even get to the default FF homepage. I had problems trying to install the Beta version, and now that you've rolled out FF4, it seems to have way too many glitches, from reading the Q & A section. I am almost afraid that I will lose all my bookmarks, other things if I continue to try to use FF4. I think you rolled this our WAY too soon, without having the bugs fixed.

Hi, Tony, thenks for your reply. Well, now I have no toolbar, no menu page, and I do not get the new interface. Pressing Alt or F10 does not show the menu bar, I have NO bookmarks, argh! I have tried re-starting Firefoz, rebooting the computer. I am reading all these great reviews of FF4, but I don't seem to be able to get it to work on my machine.

Since everything you did voided your warranty, Apple will at best charge you the out of warranty replacement fee, and offer you a refurbished iPhone of same specs as your own.
You'll need to take it in and discuss your options with them directly if they wish to offer you any.

Oh and the easier way to removing the dupe frames was just to drop it to 19.984, set (nested) comp advanced settings to 'preserve framerate when nested' and watch for the occasional rounding error when back in a 29.97 container composition. It would be nice to be able to specify 29.976...
In any case the missing frame needs to be replaced, not removed. The visual jump i that gap actually looks to be closer to 2 frames when motion of objects is estimated by hand.
Also (as I think I mentioned) other clips seem to have even further oddities.
The reality is that I can actually create smoother motion by doing a lot of hand massaging of the footage (scaling previous frames in simple pans, hand-rotoscoping/masking/compositing in sections of frames around missing ones to synthesize motion in onscreen talent & background objects, things tracked across the screen by the camera and so on.
But that's a heck of a lot of work and probably beyond what's achievable at present I suspect...

Hair! How to retain hair so it still looks like hair?

When I've tried to put a person's head onto a new background, the hair (wispy with many single strands) comes out real clunky. The best I've been able to do is to exclude all loose strands from the selection, then feather the now-smooth selection edge. Suggestions, those of greater knowledge?
My level: I've been flailing away for five months or so and am duly impressed with this software (PSE 6). I'm reasonably familiar with the selection tools but they don't seem effective with those strands of hair. I'm starting to play with layers and blending modes. I'll play with adjustment layers, filters or whatever but may have followup questions, not only because of my limited experience, but also because I'm rather stupid.
Also, any suggestions on learning PSE other than the flail-away approach?

1. I started out with PEv.1 and bought a book by Mikkel Aaland. I went through the book chapter by chapter, taking notes, and trying out the tools.
2. I print out meaningful tips posted on this board, and file these alphabetically in a 3-ring binder
3. I bought PEv.3 when that came out and bought Barbara Brundage's book, another by Scott Kelby, and one relating to the organizer. Unfortunately that book has not been updated. I plan to buy PEv.7 when that comes out.

Best way to make a logo that doesn't look like crap on big screens/phones?

I am working on creating a simple text logo that fits in a 110x300 pixel space for a website. The thing is, at this small resolution, it looks pretty crappy using Photoshop. So, I tried Illustrator because I believe you can save vectors with it (I'm new to all this). From what I know, vectors don't lose quality when zoomed in (or on big screens). However, I have no clue what I'm doing. I tried to "save for web" a logo as a png 24, and it still looks like crap. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just not possible to save a high quality image at that size?

That was what SVG was really made for, but it never found widespread use.
That's a pretty broad-based (and misleading) dismissal.
Use of SVG is increasing, not declining, and practically all current browsers now support it. So with such a statement, you would need to quantify "widespread". Of course SVG (like Flash and canvas) is and probably always will be less common than raster formats, but that's always been true of vector-based graphics in general, even in print. Less "widespread" use of something superior is an advantage to those who employ it. Sites which employ it effectively can be more engaging and dynamic than the far more "widespread" ones which don't. That's the whole point.
Fonts are also vector-based graphics and are certainly pretty "widespread" in use on the web. (Consider the potential of this in the light of things like font embedding and GoogleFonts.)

Stallone, your question is really more a matter of the platforms / browsers you are targeting. You have to be aware of what kind of zooming you are talking about and what is happening on what you're referring to as "big screens."
For example, you can easily launch Inkscape, create an SVG graphic consisting entirely of vector paths, and include it in a static web page. It will be displayed and rasterized on-the-fly by the local machine, as vector graphics are intended to do. But now, who or what is going to "zoom" it? Are you talking about mere screen "magnification" by the sight impaired in which the whole page is zoomed? Are you talking about pinch zooming on mobile devices in which the whole page is zoomed? Are you talking about projecting on the conference room screen in which nothing is actually zoomed (re-rasterized) at all?
Everything that anybody views on a computer monitor is a raster image, because the monitor itself is a raster imaging device. That's even true of vector paths you draw and view in programs like Illustrator. Vector-based graphics get re-rasterized on the fly--so long as the system in which they are being printed/viewed is capable of supporting that. The question boils down to when the rasterization occurs and what is doing the zooming.
Historically, web browsers don't do that. The "intelligence" (programming) involved in rasterizing vector paths on the fly has to be effectively "embedded" in the graphic or in an add-on program (browser plug in) which performs the re-rasterization locally on the viewer's machine. That's why Flash requires a plug-in and SVG has to be viewed in a browser that understands the XML upon which it's based (which most current browsers nowadays do) and HTML5 Canvas has to viewed in browsers which can run its JavaScript-like programming (which is still developing).
All this is constantly changing as mobile devices and platforms and ebooks proliferate, and all this is why designing for the web always entails some amount of experimentation on the platform(s) for which you are developing.
It's a big subject; not something you can get a crash course on in a forum like this.

I have downloaded version 5 on my home machine, so I know what to expect.

That is because you are on Windows XP your settings weren't messed up by default. In the future you will have to use "Alt" to see the menus, or use the "Firefox: button which puts the menu in two columns.
View > (check) Tabs on Top
:View > Toolbars > (uncheck) Menu Bar
Whether you make changes or not read the following to understand what was changed, and what you have to do, such as use right-click on the Back/Forward button to see history, or how to get back your previous session under history.
