Portal upgrade without iAS upgrade

I have upgraded my Portal instance from 3.0.6 to 3.0.6.
But I didn't upgrade my iAS instance, and I got this message at login:
"Call to WPG_SESSION API Failed.Error-Code:6550"
I read somewhere that the problem might be, that I didn't upgrade iAS 1.0.2.0-> 1.0.2.2
Is it possible to use only the mod_plsql module of the iAS 1.0.2.2 with the upgraded Portal 3.0.8?
Will it work, or I must upgrade my whole iAS to 1.0.2.1 and to 1.0.2.2. Then why give Oracle the Portal upgrade script?
Thanks.
Paszty

Thank you for your quick answer.
I've got another question.
Where can I find the iAS upgrade scripts?
We have got iAS 1.0.2.1 and 1.0.2.2 install CDs, but we didn't find any upgrade options.
We have got now an upgraded Portal 3.0.8. Which iAs upgrade must we use? 1.0.2.1 or 1.0.2.2 or both?
Thank you.

    There is a PDF covering the required steps for migrating from 1.0.2.1 to 1.0.2.2. You can find it at http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/content.htm. It is under the Windows NT/2000 heading, updated Dec 21, 2001.

  • ALERT: 8.1.7.1 Upgrade Overwrites iAS OWA

    I'm poting the following for those of who who don't have access to Metalink (let me know if I'm not supposed to do this) and because I have an issue with what it says:
    Doc ID: Note:143368.1
    Subject: ALERT: 8.1.7.1 Upgrade Overwrites iAS OWA Packages
    Type: ALERT
    Status: PUBLISHED
    Content Type: TEXT/PLAIN
    Creation Date: 26-APR-2001
    Last Revision Date: 15-MAY-2001
    This alert was modified on:
    15-May-2001 to clarify which iAS versions are affected.
    Bug:1745320 8.1.7.1 Install Overwrites iAS OWA Packages
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Versions Affected
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This problem is related to the installation of the 8.1.7.1 or
    8.1.7.1B patch sets where the database is used by iAS-based
    mod_PLSQL applications (such as Oracle Portal).
    This problem only affects existing installations of iAS 1.0.2
    where the database is upgraded after the iAS installation has
    been performed.
    Platforms Affected
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This problem is GENERIC - it affects all platforms.
    Description
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    The upgrade of a database to 8.1.7.1 reinstalls the default OWA packages
    which can cause iAS applications to fail with errors such as ORA-6502.
    The errors occur as iAS 1.0.2 based product require a newer version of
    the OWA packages than is supplied with 8.1.7.1.
    Likelihood of Occurrence
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You may encounter problems if you use iAS 1.0.2 products with 8.1.7.0
    and then upgrade the database to 8.1.7.1.
    If you install 8.1.7.1 and then subsequently install iAS you will not
    encounter this problem.
    Possible Symptoms
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Possible symptoms include errors of the form:
    ORA-6502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error:
    Bulk bind: Error in define (WWV-11230)
    Workaround
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    The preferred workaround is to re-install the OWA packages supplied
    with iAS AFTER the database has been upgraded to 8.1.7.1. This requires
    you to run the "owaload.sql" script supplied with iAS when connected
    as SYS. Before running this script ensure the fix for bug 1671234 /
    bug 1680043 is present.
    eg:
    1. cd $IAS_HOME/portal30/admin/plsql/owa
    2. Check that "owacomm.sql" has been modified to avoid
    bug 1671234 / 1680043. To do this edit "owacomm.sql"
    and change the line:
    spool ..\..\portal\...\owaldscr.sql
    to read:
    spool owaldscr.sql
    3. Connect to the database as SYS and execute:
    @owaload.sql owaupd.log
    An alternative workaround (before running the 8.1.7.1 upgrade script)
    is to edit the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql script and comment
    out the line "@@owacomm.sql" . When using this option remember that
    any new database created will have NO OWA packages loaded when catproc
    is executed.
    Patches
    ~~~~~~~
    There is no patch for this problem. The problem will be addressed
    in future patch sets.

    Base bug describing the problem [BUG:1745320]
    My issue:
    The spool line is not present in my 'owacomm.sql' file, so I ran the 'owaload' as indicated and SQL*Plus bombed out.
    I edited a very similar line to the one described above, but located in the 'owaload.sql' script and referring to a 'wpildscr.sql'. When I run this, it reports 'SP2-0024: Nothing to change.' -- is this reliable?

    John, this is a simple workaround, regardless..
    In the 8.1.7.2.1 patch docs it also tells you how to pre-empt the whole problem anyway. Not that I'm finding 8.1.7.2.1 very stable either.

  • My cd/dvd drive isn't working and i want to upgrade my mac os x10.5.8, how can i upgrade without the software CD

    my cd/dvd drive isn't working and i want to upgrade my mac os x10.5.8, how can i upgrade without the software CD

    I think not.   You will need to order a disc from Apple quoting your serial number, as many of these discs are machine specific.   So unless you can get your drive working I think you will have to take a trip to an Apple store.
    Indeed, you have an old computer that may not be worth the cost of repair ... but it is still worth seeking Apple advice and a visual inspection.   It just might be something not too drastic.

  • How to include an enhancement package with upgrade without Solution Manager

    Hello,
    I have been trying to do an upgrade from SAP R3 46C to ERP6 in my sandbox.  I want to include Enhancment package 3 with the upgrade.  I have tried using the Solution Manager to download the Enhancement package and it work fine except that it did not create the XML Stack configuration file that the upgrade is looking for.  Therefore I downloaded the DVD for Enhancement package 3 and included that in the mounted CDs in the PREPARE portion of the upgrade and it does not recognize it.
    Now for my question, is there a way to include the Enhancement package with the upgrade without using Solution Manager? If so, could someone please let me know where to find the information or share the procedure with me?
    Thank you in advance,
    Ron

    The EPs are just like support packages (optional); if the upgrade is not letting you put it during upgrade then just do it once the upgrade is completed.

  • Form issue after IAS upgrade 9.0.2 - 9.0.4

    Hi
    I have recently performed an upgrade from IAS 9.0.2 to 9.0.4. One of the forms we were running under 9.0.2 is now exhibiting some strange behaviour under 9.0.4 in that it requires a screen refresh (either via pressing f5 or pressing the browser refresh button) before displaying the inital screen correctly.
    In order to rule out any upgrade compatibility issues we took the 9i fmb file, converted it to a 9.0.4 fmt using 9.0.4 Forms Builder, re-converted back to fmb and then compiled into a new fmx file.
    Any pointers as to why we are seeing the above behaviour?
    Cheers
    James

    I need some more info to begin to analyze this:
    --What exact version of Forms?
    --What browser and what version of that?
    --What version of Jinit or Sun's plug-in?
    --No other form displays this problem? Just one of many?
    --What is the NLS_LANG setting?
    --What is shown before the refresh? Nothing? Part of the form?
    --What is on the first canvas of the form? Is that a stacked canvas? Are others showing under it? Any java beans in the form?

  • CS5 upgrade without installing 3 previous versions?

    So I am currently running CS3 upgraded from CS2 Upgraded from ps6.
    Is there a way that I can purchase the C5 upgrade without installing the three previous versions?
    I am purchasing two new computers to replace the older computers in my house.
    I have cs3 running on three computers in my house (new are replacing older models.).
    I am paying for one of my 3 sons to attend college.  I have thought about a student version but understand that there are limitations.
    Can anyone help?

    The Educational version is a great way to go - it is  functionally identical to the commercial version, usually without the extra fonts and such.

  • Unable to open RAW files without C6 upgrade

    I rented the new Canon 6D to check it out before purchasing.  I cannot open the files with CS5 without an upgrade to CS6.  I read the info on the DNG converter, but am still unsure if I can use this to open files with CS5.  So, my question is, will this solution work for me, and if yes, which DNG version?

    Hi,
    You can use the DNG Converter 7.3, which supports the canon 6d to convert your camera raw files to dng copies, which photoshop cs5
    should open.
    windows:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5519
    mac:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5518
    If you actually decide to buy a camera not supported in cs5 without using the dng converter, you might consider LightRoom if you don't want to upgrade to cs6.

  • Install Failure! Can't Upgrade without Upgrading first!

    I need to be running 10.3.9 to use my new Nano...
    I ordered Tiger 1.4 but it only came on DVD (without special ordering the CD and waiting... I don't do waiting well...)
    So, I ordered a new Lacie CD R/W and DVD [read only].
    It reads the DVD, but when I click on the install icon, it ejects the DVD and tells me the media is not readable...although it just read it.
    Seems I need to upgrade my Firmware for the DVD Reader...
    I downloaded the Firmware upgrade from Lacie, but it says I have to be running at least system 10.2 in order to update the firmware!
    So, I can't do the upgrade without the firmware and I can't load the firmware without the upgrade...
    Any suggestions?? Do I just have to order the CD and wait??? Thanks

    Well, the wait for a CD copy of the software seems to be "forever" as indicated by the .pdf order form. First you have to print out the order form and wait for your DVD to arrive. Then mail the order form by snail mail with payment and proof of purchase of the DVD. Then wait for Apple to return it to you...also by snail mail...AND the order form indicates that all orders for CD's must be placed by YESTERDAY. "Orders must be postmarked by December 20, 2006."
    I have not tried to boot from the Firewire port. Sounds like [from you] that that would not work anyway. The USB two port DOES recognize the DVD and read it but will not boot from it...but it seems to indicate that the DVD should boot IF I can only get the Firmware upgrade to load.
    I may just have to find someone locally who owns 10.2 and install it long enough to upgrade my drive so it will read the 10.4 install. Big problem is that I'm relatively new in the area and don't know many Mac Owners.
    I guess I should have ordered an internal DVD reader. So many of the DVD readers will only operated with G4's and higher these days that I just ordered the first one I found that actually claimed to work on a G3.

  • Restore lost data after software upgrade without having a backup

    Hi!
    Yesterday I upgraded to 10.1.0.418 via BB Link and all my data (contacts,apps, photos etc.) was lost. It happens every time I upgrade the software (I did it 3 times) and I am sick of this! Could you tell me please, is there a way to restore the data I had before upgrading without a backup made before the upgrade?
    Thanks!

    Any Mac introduced before Lion was released can run Snow Leopard, including the mid-2001 iMacs. So you can still get a current-generation Mac that runs Rosetta & use AppleWorks.
    That's actually not true. Snow Leopard will only run on Intel Macs. The situation is this :
    Any Mac capable of running Snow Leopard OR EARLIER will be able to run AW - Lion is the first OS that can't.
    PPC Macs will run as far as Leopard 10.5.8 - they should have 1GB RAM minimum, but can run with less RAM for Tiger. They will all run AppleWorks.
    All but the latest Intel Macs will run Snow Leopard and therefore Rosetta and therefore AW too.
    However, current iMacs that come with Lion preinstalled can have 10.6 installed on a separate partition (must be 10.6.6 or later), to run Rosetta.
    The current generation of MacBooks, and Air, cannot have 10.6 installed and therefore cannot run AW.
    I don't know what the situation is with the latest Mac Pros.

  • ITunes upgraded without asking me.

    iTunes upgraded without asking me. WhenI opened iTunes I simply got a message that the library was upgrading with no way of exiting. It didn't only upgrade the library, it upgraded iTunes from 9 to 11, and screwed the library in the process. I want to get 9 back. Is that possible?

    You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
    ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
    CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
    CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
    CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
    Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
    If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
    If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.
