Portal Users Mapping...

Hi experts,
I have a query . now we have 20 SAP R/3 Licenses and 1000 Portal Licenses now we are able to successfully carry out the SSO with R/3 but the problem is how are we going to map the 1000 users to 20 SAP R/3 Ids ? Can some one please help me on the same at the earliest.
Regards,
Sam

Hi Arun,
You can create a group based on the portal users and map the Group to the to the R/3 Ids .
The number of persons in the Group is purely on your wish.
But do remember all the persons in the group will  be able to view the same data in the mapped R/3 id.
If all portal users are going to view same data then you can group them in one group ID and map it to the R/3 id.
Otherwise based on the data that portal user wants to view form a group and then map it to the corresponding R/3 ID.For instance form 20 groups with 50 members each and map each group to the corresponding R/3 Id.
Hope it helps.

Vivekanandan

  • Portal - User mapping - umlaut - personalize - error

    Hello all,
did anyone hear of the following in the portal user mapping to a backend SAP system ?
A user has an account in a 4.7 SAP system and his password contains a german umlaut.
In the portal "User mapping" instead of SSO is active. The user clicks the "Personalize" iview to map his SAP User, he enters his SAP UID and his (umlaut-containing) password.
When he then calls an iview that is connected to the backend system (e.g. bwsp via ITS), he gets the message "No user mapping defined for system ...". He then can enter his UID/password for this single request, and when he does so, it works. Same procedure comes up, when he again tries to call the iview.
It seems, as if the password is written to the database in the wrong way ?
    Any experiences on this ?
    Thank you + regards
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
Go to User Admin - User Mapping. Search for the user and click on "Edit".
Now select the "System" defined for connecting to the SAP 4. 7 system. Give the user id and password for the system and click on "save".
Now try accessing the iview. You would be taken to the sap system directly without any request for login.
You can do the same, if the user has "Personalize" link available in the top right corner of the portal which comes by adding the "EU Role" to the user.
Hope this solves your problem.. If not pls get back.
    Regards,
    venkat.

  • Portal User Mapping

    Hi,
I have installed AS ABAP and AS JAVA on one host.
I have installed EP along with AS JAVA.
    ecc6.0 with EP simply.
no i have created a system alias in portal and done the connection parameters.
during the connection test the user mapping is failed.
I cannot create a user in portal also.
my erp users are also not signing in .
Let me know how to move further.
    Regards,
    Saravanan.S

    Hi Saravanan,
Normally, if you installed ECC 6.0 with Java Stack together, Java Stack is connected to the Client 001. All the Users within this client must be able to logon to portal. If you want another Client to be used with portal, then you've to modify SAP Conneciton Parameters via Configtool > Global Server Configuration > Services > com.sap.security.core.ume.service and for parameters:
    ume.r3.connection.master.client
    ume.r3.connection.master.*
    parameters
Usually a connector User created and named SAPJSF in client 001. Easiest way is to create those Portal Connector Users within the New client, or make a client copy with profile SAP_USER from 001 > <target_client>
After you must be able to logon portal with users
As PortalUID and SAPUID will be same, you must use SAP Logon Ticket to enable SSO between them. Also please check the profile parameters to enable SSO.

  • Connected MDM and LDAP, but but now what? Why user mapping?

    Hi Gurus,
In my last thread, I posted that I was not able to connect MDM with LDAP. I was finally able to.
My problem now is I have to define user mapping in SAP Portal for the MDM business iViews to work.
By connecting MDM and LDAP, I got the benefit that now the authentication and authorization is happening via LDAP.
But this does eliminate the need for user mapping. If this is the case then why the real benefit of using LDAP?
In this case this becomes worse as I need to know the user's LDAP Password which no body will share for sure.
Any ideas? I want to get rid off this user mapping stuff.
    Warn Regards,
    Karan

without knowing specifics of ur architecture, i can quickly point out two things:
    1)  LDAP is primarily used for authentication, true.
    2) Portal User mapping should not be an issue if u already have portal tied up to the active directory or some kind of single sign on?
So portal knows the users who has logged it, polls the Active directory for authentication and Active directory logs into MDM with that users role.

  • User Mapping in JCO Destination

    Hi All,
My current configuration is as follows:
EP6 SP17 -> User mapped through Portal to R3 system.
JCO Destinations -> I use a one technical user for all the WAS users ('user/password' option)
I want that the JCO will use the same mapping as the Portal.
    Is it possible?
Is there a guide/tutorial for configuring the User Mapping option for a JCO destionation?
    p.s
i cannot use SAPLOGONTICKET because the WAS (Portal) user and the R3 user are different.
    Thanks,
    Omri

    Hi Omri,
I don`t think the Portal user mapping could be utilized by JCo destination on WAS in a trivial way.
You can try to read such data using Portal service in your WD application and afterward pass JCo connection to RFC model but may be it is not so good idea.
Another option is to move user mapping logic to R/3 ( don`t ask how it is just guess ).
Also there is no user mapping on the WAS regarding JCo destination (at least I have never heard about it).

    Hi,
yes, Karsten is correct. Just some background:
"User Mapping not fully available.." finally means that user mapping is configured to use strong encryption, but the main crypto key for user mapping is missing. Usually, that's because "SAP Java Cryptographic Toolkit" and/or "JCE policy files for unlimited strength encryption" are not installed (or the server hasn't be restarted afterwards). The note will most likely help

  • Portal and R3 user mapping

    Experts,
We are on EP6 with 4.7 backend and using AD as our data source.
We implemented ESS on ITS and we have few users who have different portal user ID and R/3 ID and I want their ID to be mapped to their R3 ID.
So far, I've added my r3 usrID as one of the parameters in AD and in the UM config file, I've mapped this field to userID.
I've defined the sap reference system and when I go to user mapping under "personalize" it says "Error occurred while reading the selected user mapping data"
Can someone tell me what could be wring with this setup?
    Thanks,
    James

Well, this may not be the "best way" to do it but.....
    <p>
    <img src=http://home1.gte.net/res00icr/SA.jpg>
    <p>
Make it a dedicated system and then you can have your users go up to personalize it once and done.  Then what every you need the back end for just reference the system you created.

  • Mapping of single Portal users to multiple backend user

    Hello Experts,
It is possible to map single portal user to the multiple R/3 user? If yes, than what is procedure to achieve it?
I have a SAP Portal where some users have 2 user ID in ECC, but I need to in Portal the users have only one user ID and password. How can I do to these users can select between their 2 profiles in ECC? Is posible?
    Thanks!
    Regards

    Hi,
This is not possible since  you would have used SSO to connect to the Backend. Either it is SSO or User Mapping is done, Portal User can only access the Backend with one User ID.
If you use SSO, for Example if the Portal User is UserA then you would have the UserA in the Backend too. It will use the UserA in backend to access.  (Note: Single User can't access multiple Backend. Since we would have already maintained the Backend Connection details in the System and also in JCo Destination. So it is not possible for a User to access the Backend with two different Backends)
If you use User Mapping, then you can decide the User which it should use. (For ESS/MSS this is not recommended and it is not feasible too).

  • User mapping from portal to R/3

    Hello everyone,
    Our situation is this :
We made some visual composer iviews (charts and tables) that get data from R/3.
Instead of creating users in R/3, we want to use only one public user who can only call RFC's in R/3. So how is the user mapping implemented in this situation?
Please give me detailed explanation for it or links of documentation.
I will be appreciative and all answers will be rewarded with points.
    Thanks for help.

In addition and from a maintenance perspective you could do a: Portal Group to R/3 UserMapping.
This will then automatically map all Portal Users in the Portal Group to the one R/3 user in the back-end. This saves effort when new users are created on the portal you don't have to map them all.
This method is also proposed by SAP for mapping to MDM for example.
NOTE: When you choose this you cannot trace the user in the back-end because
this back-end user is shared. If this is not a problem for your scenarion then I would say go for it.
    Cheers,
    Benjamin Houttuin

  • EP + BW: Problems with user mapping in the portal

    Hi,
I'm trying to connect the portal with the BW by using the report RSPOR_SETUP which is a step-by-step guide. The steps #1 - #11 seems to be ok but my problem is the 12th step, the user mapping/allocation maintenance in the portal.
There is an error emerging (in BW): System failure during call of function module RSWR_RFC_SERVICE_TEST (System failure indicates normally an authentication problem between ABAP and Java)
Another error is emerging by testing the connection in the portal. (System administration u2013 system configuration u2013 system landscape u2013 connection test: the first connection, the SAP Web-AS connection is ok but the second, connection test for connector, is not working.
Especially the connection to the backend system with the defined connector is not working. The output is: u201CConnection failure. Check that single sign on is correct configured.
On step 12 of the step-by-step guide I have to select a user in the portal, relate him to a system alias und maintain his technical username and password for the BW. I think here is the problem. Iu2019m able to select and save a system alias for the user, but Iu2019m not able to save his technical username and password. There is another error emerging (in the portal): u201CVerification of user mapping data for system SAP_BW failed, check credentials for errorsu201D, so Iu2019m not able to save the username and password.
I think thats the my problem. the log file confirms that: "Did not find any existing logon data for principal...." & "No user mapping data available for principal...."
I hope my problem description is understandable.
Any ideas how I can solve the credentials problem to save the username and the password?
    Thanks in advance.

I could deploy some of the usage types, but there is an error regarding the BI-REPPLAN package. I think it's one of the very last errors that stands between me and a working EP - BI connection. There is a problem with the version. Could you check the log details, to find out more?

  • Mapping User Language vom LDAP to Portal Users

    Hi,
Anyone knows how to map the user language available in an attribut from LDAP to the portal user language?
    (Working on NW04)
    Regards,
    Martin

    HI,
    For 2004s SP10,
althought the manual tells you to use the preferredlanguage attribute in the datasource. Use the attribute 'locale' to map to your LDAP specific language attribute.
    example <attribute name="locale">
    <physicalAttribute name="preferredLanguage"/>
    </attribute>
Use the 2-characters ISO language code set. For example en for English, nl for Dutch and de for German.
    Works fine for us.
    good luck,
