Portal + Windows 7 + Windows 2008

Hi,
The customer for who Iu2019m working for, is preparing to upgrade the operating system of company users laptop to Windows 7, and also their Microsoft servers to 2008, mainly Active Directory.
My concerning about this topic is, anyone already faced the restrictions applied by these new Microsoft versions in the SAP NetWeaver Portal? How did you faced and passed the issues? Can overcome all of them?
I am thinking of some, such as:
   -     Windows 7 doesnu2019t support, by default, DES Encryption type for Kerberos;
   -     Windows 7 doesnu2019t not support WebDAV;
   -     SAP Portal Drive Client not support in Windows 7;
Thanks & Regards,
John

To have access to webdav, you can use the portal drive in windows 7 (x86 NOT x64). And I thought that windows 7 will be officially supported from SPS22? But I'm not sure about that one.
And I assume that WIndows 7 will be the end-user os, not the server os?!
Also some good documentation:
https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/instguidesNW70
You will see @ the dn, an upgrade guide. I hope this helps!

    Hi,
I am experiencing a problem with Management Portal version 8.5.2. when I try to install this in windows 2008 R2 SP1 64 Bit server iam getting error stating that " Un supported Operating system and installer combination"
    Supported combinations are:
    32bit OS - 32 bit Vim.
    64bit OS - 64 bit Vim
    Currently running:
    64bit OS
    32bit process
    64bit Vim build
    .........aborting the install run
Did any one face these kind of issues.....
    Thanks in advance....
    Karthik

I experienced the same issue. This is how I resolved it.
    Check all pre-requisites .NET 3.5 Feature / Application Server Role with IIS / JRE 6u11 x64 / ASP .NET 2.0 AJAX Extension 1.0 / WSE 2.0 SP3 Runtime / SQL 2005 / SQL 2005 SP4 / SQL2005 SMO x64 - note X64 versions.
Ensure that the software install is either from the CD or a mapped drive that presents the software like a CD i.e. Y:\autorun.bat
Right click Y:\autorun.bat and select Run As Administrator - make sure it is the autorun.bat and not autorun.hta - windows helpfully hides the extension by default.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • CR 10.2 not workin in Windows 2008 server 64bit

    Hi everybody,
I've tried install CR10.2 on a Windows 2008 server 64bit but that doesn't work. After riding this interresting link : [wiki.sdn.sap.com|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] I see this version is not supported by W2008.
Then I decide to install CR2008. I update my web.config to the new version and finally I test the web app. But I've some errors like : [sdn.sap.com|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap%28bd1lbizjptawmq==%29/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333133383333333733303334%7D.do] I can't retake all files, because they are so much and this is not the solution. All of our client are working with 10.2 and we can't update the application just for one client.
How can I do for make it work with CR10.2 ?
    Thank's for your help.
PS : I'm not fluent in english

    Hi,
Make sure that you are on CR 10.2 SP1
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006007872008E/crvs05sp1.exe.
    Recompile the application.
    You would need runtime.
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100010010692008E/crredist2005_sp1_x86.zip
Then deploy the application to your server.
Also what method you have been using to deploy the application?
What is the version of Visual Studio?
    Thanks,

  • FIM 2010 R2 Sp1, Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and Recycle Bin issues

    Hi,
    We are running FIM 2010 R2 Sp1 (build 4.1.3613.0)
Also running Windows 2008 R2 Forest and Domain functional level environment. (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on all DCs). The previous Recycle Bin hotfix https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/979214/ fails to install since we are already running WS08 R2 SP1
    on all the DCs.
During deprovisioning, when a user is deleted from the source HR system, FIM deletes the object from AD, FIM Sync & Portal.
FIM also manages a FIM Portal group, where membership is assigned manually. This membership is then updated in AD.
When a user (who is part of this group) is deleted in HR, FIM deletes it from AD, FIM Sync, FIM Portal, FIM also removes user from FIM Portal group. The user is also removed from the AD group (by FIM group object membership attribute flow to AD)
...however, on the next AD Export, FIM fails to update the same group and complains about this very same user (CD Error) and lists the user as: CN=username\0ADEL:GUID, CN=Deleted Objects,DC=domain,DC=com
It appears that there is a problem with FIM and the Recycle Bin again?
Are there any new Recycle Bin/FIM hotfixes ?
    Thanks,
    SK

May I suggest you review the following:
Is the AD MA user account part of the Domain Admins group? If yes, please remove it from this Group
Verify that the "CN=Deleted Objects" container has not somehow been included in the AD MA OU scope

    > As suggested by you we have downloaded the latest IBM DB2 V 9.7 FP3 from market place and completed the installation successfully. Now I am trying to perform post installation activities but I am facing few issues with Browser IE 8.0 on Windows 2008 Server R2.
    > I wonder if there any compatibility issues with IE 8 on Windows 2008 Sever R2 as I could not able to see any tabs once i login into portal. Even I could not able to login NWA also but the same is working fine in other browsers. Please suggest if i need to change IE settings to view all tabs properly in portal.
To use IE 8 you have to update to a certain patchlevel. This is listed in the PAM on
    https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001225132009E
on patch 16. You'll see there, that you will need to update to SP 6 on Windows 7 (and hence also on Windows 2008 R2).
    Please check with
Note 789220 - Support Package levels for Netweaver installations/upgrades
which SP level your installation has and update accordingly.
    > Other browser Firefox 4.0 I am able to login into Portal but when access user management and other tabs it says your browser doesn't support WebDynpro  Applications.. Please suggest.
Firefox 4.x is a beta browser, it's not yet released and therefore not supported.
For new installation it's always best to first install the latest patchlevels before you start configuring the system.

  • Dataguard installation oracle 11gr2 on windows 2008 server

    Hi,
I have oracle 11gr2 database on windows 2008 server. I have been given a primary and secondary server with the same setup.
Now i want to install dataguard. AFter installing i need to test it for disaster recovery.
Can anyone please suggest me a document for this? I searched in this forum but i couldnt get any.
    Please help.

An obvious place to look at is our Online Documentation about Data Guard Installation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17022/toc.htm
    See
3 Creating a Physical Standby Database
    there.
There is not much special-Windows for Data Guard - of course you need to create Windows Services for both Databases etc. as described here:

  • Upgrade ADS to Windows 2008 R2

    Dear expert
We have active directory server (ADS) that run in windows 2003 and connect to our portal (netweaver 2004s). our company have plan to upgrade the ADS to windows 2008 R2, the question is, any issue regarding this plan? especially about connection between portal and ADS 2008 R2 ?
    Thxs.

    Hi!!
As you can read in [SAP note 1383873|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1383873], Windows Server 2008 R2 is not still supported by SAP. As the note specifies, the PAM will reflect that operating system as soon as it is supported (for Oracle, check also [note 1303262|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1303262]).
I tried to provide you a more tight estimation, and after conversations with the developers, I can advance you that it is not possible to expect the 710 products released for Windows Server 2008 R2 before around four weeks; 700 products will be released after 710 (very rough stimation; if there are problems the release could be even postponed!).
I am aware that your question focuses strictly on the Active Directory, but anyway it was not still checked by SAP developers. Take into account that there are several changes in the authentication methods used and even some cryptographic protocols could not be available. This could make some of your applications to fail.
In particular, I am aware of a case that, after upgrading the Domain Controllers to Windows Server 2008 R2, the SSO (SPnego) stopped working due to the fact that the DES encryption protocol was no longer available, and so Kerberos was not supported. In fact, if you check [note 994791|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/994791], you will discover that the current SPNego Wizard utilized by SAP was tested using the following Windows Kerberos Environments:
o  Microsoft Windows Server 2000 Active Directory
o  Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory
o  Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Active Directory
But not Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory, that is a completely different AD (as Windows Server 2008 R2 is an operating system that is completely different from Windows Server 2008, even though the name seems to be confusingly indicating otherwise).
As a summary, depending on your configuration, your applications could even stop working if you upgrade your Active Directory before it is released.
    Cheers!!

  • Window 2008 R2 ( OS Stat / Mirror) backup

    Hi
I have build the physical standby DR system on Window 2008 R2 & Oracle 11g. As part of backup policy, we have to take the full OS level backup before applying any patch (either OS or SAP or Oracle).  We have implemented the Networker backup at the DR and primary site.
Can you please us that what are the tools & method to be used to take the OS level backup so that in case any crisis that can be restorable ? Please note that database is in mount stage..
    Regards
    Vimal

    Hi Vimal
In DR, you can follow the steps
    1. Take the full DB Backup from primary site.
    2. Restart the same in DR site,
    3. From the restored DB you can start the SAP installations with same SID but the host name are different from primary site
    4. once every thing are working fine in DR site.then start the DB mirroring or replication from the primary to DR Site.

  • Upgrade to windows 2008

    Hi all,
we currently have our SAP systems running on windows 2003 64bit MSCS and SQL 2005. We want to upgrade to Windows 2008. We fulfill the pre-requisites for upgrade.
i know the simple way would be to install windows 2008 on a fresh system and them perform a system copy but this is something which will take a lot of time.
Now when we try and perform a upgrade to windows 2008 on the existing systems, it breaks the cluster, when we recreate the cluster, the SQL and windows services are lost, is there a way to save these groups or we need to recreate them(manually or reinstall)
    Any best practices
    Yogi

    Hi John,
We plannng a preparing for a similar task
Taking ECC 6.0 from win. 2003 sql 2005 64bit Unicode to win 2008 , sql 2008 same, migrated to NEW servers.
    Please provide advice ...
I will need to order new DVDs?  will I be able to install sql  2008 using vbs file , as i have researched and it indicated that I will need to install from scratch?
We are doing our entire SAP landscape (ECC, BI and Portal)
Then we are also implementing cluster(failover, LB ) for the production servers.
Will I need to install SAP / SQL for DEV/QAS in any special way for them to interface to Production which will be clustered?
Any advise will definitely be helpfull as I go thru my research and planning

  • Windows 2008 R2 SP1 (64bit) shared folders no longer work with Windows 7 Pro but do work with WindowsXP & Windows 2003

As of last week, our Windows 7 Pro workstations can not map or browse the Windows 2008 Server shares. They can ping the Windows 2008 server. The Windows 7 Pro machines can still access the Windows 2003 Server Shares. The older workstations running Windows
XP can still map to the both the Windows 2003 & Windows 2008 Servers. All the servers can browse to each others shared folders (2 windows 2003 server & 1 windows 2008 server).

Ok, now you're down to network or permissions issues. An unedited ipconfig /all
of server and problem workstation may help. You could also try setting up some auditing.

  • Windows 2008 Server and Windows 8 clients

    Hey Guys,
I have had this problem for sometime now and really need a solution. I have Windows 2008 Enterprise Server running about 200+ terminal services clients. All Windows XP clients are fine, Windows 7 clients have issues when they get an updated version of
remote desktop client(to solve the issue we simply rollback the update), Windows 8 clients cannot connect and use out remote app. The issue stems from the newer version of remote desktop client (on windows 7 and embedded in windows 8) cannot connect to our
terminal server and generates an error and immediately disconnects. The error says "
Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because an error occurred on the remote computer that you want
    to connect to
So my questions are, how can i update my Windows 2008 Terminal server version to support these clients, or do u have migrate to Windows 2012? Or is there a solution to my current problem which will allow my client to connect and use the remoteapps?

  • Bit Locker on windows 2008 R2 Virtual machine

    Hello there !
We have a a number of Windows 2008 R2 machines and we wish to provide an encryption mechanism for each Virtual machine.
It's a VMware environment and all the VM files go into NFS drives.
Do you think , Bitlocker will help ?
Is Bitlocker supported on Virtual machines ?
In my opinion , Bitlocker is to safeguard against any "physical" threat to a machine.
But I wanted a second opinion here.
    Please help me.

VMs don't have a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) available to store the Full Volume Encryption Key (FVEK) used for BitLocker, but you can still use Hyper-V by storing the necessary information on a floppy drive. Use the command line:
    cscript c:\Windows\System32\manage-bde.wsf -on C: -rp -sk A:
BitLocker is now enabled within the VM.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
