Ported from Verizon , cant recieve text but can send text

I got my phone Oct 10th and my problem is i am unable to recieve text messages from ONLY Verizon customers. I can do everything else just fine. I did port over from verizon to att and i understand it takes time for the servers to update but almost 2 weeks ? I have called att twice and they say it has to be a verizon issue because i can send and recieve on their network. Now what do i do ?

Ok this is going to sound stupid but my company had text messaging blocked I called Verizon and they unblocked it and now it works. Thank you for your help

Ohhh ok thanks. I took my sim card out of my other phone because when i would send texts they would be returned to my blackberry. So lets hope it works in the morning. If not i saw a bulletin that said to call att and they will force it or something so ill do that.

  • I cannot send some people a text from Messenger on my iPad but CAN send them from my iPhone

I don't understand why I can send a person a text message from my iPhone but when I try to send the same message to the same person from my iPad, it tells me it cannot send as the person isn't registered.  What does this mean.  Yet I can send messages to others on both the iPhone and my iPad.  Can you tell me what's going on?  Thanks

The iPad uses iMessage to send messages. iMessages can only be sent to iDevices like the iPhone, iPod and iPad. Apple products such as the iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, etc running Mac OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion and later can also send/receive iMessages.
    Hope this helps,
    Ryan

  • Cant recive emails but can send

Just downloaded Mozilla thunderbird. Have been through the setup process and my account appers to have connected to the client without any error messages. The problem is I can send emails but not receive them.
I don't really know what I'm talking about but for what its worth:
I am using a IMAP mail server. port 993
I have checked in the firewall settings and there appears to be no mention at all of Mozilla thunderbird.
When I click on the inbox or "get messages" icon nothing happens, it does not appear to attempt to connect to anything
    Any help would be fantastic.

please post the account settings information included in the troubleshooting information on the help menu. (copy to clipboard and paste into a reply here on the foruim..) That way we will have some information to verify.

  • I can't recieve email, but can send. All is good with my int. provider.

A few days ago I stopped getting emails. When I try, a window pops up saying, "Sending of user name did not succeed. Mail server pop.*******.net responded:internal server error. I can click OK to that, then a box pops up with " Login to pop.********.net failed. Options are: Retry- Enter New Password- Cancel
I've tried all 3, with no progress. Internet provider went thru setup info with me, all good. Password works on their server and get email there, but I would like to use Thunderbird.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think one of the reasons your provider could not fault the connection settings is that it is your anti virus that is the root cause of the issue.
Historically ISPs used port 110 and no connection security. It was simpler and therefore let to less support calls. The downside was the inherently insecure connection process that saw your user name and password passed across the internet in plain text. (That is fairly easy to intercept.)
Security is becoming a far more important item, particularly to ISPS as their customers just don't take having their accounts hacked well. The result is they are moving to secured connection.
The accepted standards here are Port 110 with No security and port 995 with SSL for POP mail accounts. While these standards are not compulsory they are used by most mail providers the world over
Now back to your Anti virus. As little a a couple of years ago major anti virus programs simply did not touch or scan email that came in over SSL. The data stream was encrypted, usually with a 2048 bit security key.
(That is the minimum key length from December 2013). For many years no one really noticed that email over SSL was not scanned. Over the past couple of years anti virus programs have started trying to scan SSL mail connections. Many of the implementation leave a lot to be desired. They use various hacking techniques to decrypt the data. It is not intended under SSL that decryption should occur until it get to the application it is being send to. The result is that the anti virus program often cause more disruption than they save, or in the case of AVG require the setting up of an SSL proxy in AVG and the removal of the SSL in the mail program.
Long winded I know, but the background is really required to understand why I blame Anti virus software and to help your understanding of the process. In the first instance try disabling the email scanner in the anti virus program.
I am persevering with this, as the normal approach with transitions from an old to new server name or old to new ports is about a 2 year window with most ISPs. So while your GRICS server still works, I would assume it has a life of less than 2 years before you will need to have both machines on the new settings

Why can't I send a text to a contact from my I-pad but can send to that same contact on my  I-phone

Are you saying you are successful in sending text messages to Android users from your iPad?  I doubt you can do that as iPad does not SMS, which is what a cell phone does, but iPad is not a cell phone.  The Message App in iPad was designed to let you send messages to other iOS based devices.
There are Apps you can get from the App Store, like TextFree, which will assign a number to your account, but from iPad you can text all your contacts regardless of type of device.  You will however need to let everyone you message with know what number a message would come from as it won't come from your cell number.

  • A strange one-can recieve email, but not send

Okay, I have a powerbook G4 with an airport (graphite) and a siemens wireless gateway/modem provided by T**us
my mom's ISP. She can get on the internet okay (providing the signal doesn't get dropped, which it does) and downloads are fine, and she can recieve email, but not send. I have tried changing the smtp port to 587 from 25. Nothing from the activity monitor and no "whoosh". I have also tried setting up a new account (pop3) which the connection
doctor says is okay for sending and recieving. Any suggestions before I spend an hour or so with T**us' tech support
which for Macs isn't that good--frankly, I think the airport needs to be out of the picture---maybe it's fighting with the gateway???
    John B

Hi John: Did you get the "Send" issue figured out with your computer? If not, here are some things to check out. It sounds like you are using Telus. If so the settings for incoming and outgoing servers is as follows: Incoming > "pop.telus.net" Outgoing > "smtp.telus.net". Server port is 25, with no SSL enabled.
    Good Luck

  • Porting from Verizon

I waited out the 3G and now I'm ready to make the leap from my Verizon Razr to an AT&T iPhone. Anyone have experience or tips about porting my number from Verizon? In particular, my number is a secondary number on a family plan.
I haven't seen anything about porting in a while, after some traffic with the original release - does that mean it's all a non-issue now and AT&T/Apple have it all figured out, or is it hopeless and no one even tries?
    Thanks!

    I had same experience.
Got to AT&T store at 9:30am on Saturday. Second in line.
At 9:45, AT&T employee came out and tells us they had 10 phones; about 8 people in line by then.
By 10:15, I was out the door having had a great experience. No high pressure sales from clerk (in fact she asked me where I worked so she could check to see if I was entitled to some type of company discount...I was...15% off, making my plan $20 cheaper per month than what I've been paying Verizon for similar service) and iTunes activated immediately.
At about 12:30, I got a text from AT&T saying my number porting from Verizon was complete. I called my husband and asked him to call me back to check that my iPhone rang and not my Verizon Moto Q. It did!
Now if only MobMe worked as well....

  • I can no longer send emails from my mac yahoo business account, but can send them directly from yahoo. just not from mac mail. I've been able to send emails perfectly fine until today. Help!

I can no longer send emails from my mac yahoo business account, but can send them directly from yahoo. just not from mac mail. I've been able to send emails perfectly fine until today. I've been on the phone with yahoo mail and they've verified that my account settings are correct and I can send email from yahoo. I can receive emails via Mac mail, but just can't send them. An error message appears that says:
"Sending the message content to the server failed." I can't send emails from my Mac desktop, iphone or ipad. Any suggestions! Help! I'm a Mac rookie and so frustrated! Thanks.

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.
