Portege M750 PPM75E Windows 8 drivers - SOLUTION

Hi,
just wanted to leave a message with the solutions I found for different applications for Portege M750.
These are the applications I use the most,
so if you need other drivers/applications just leave a reply and I'll try to find it.
_Got working:_
Bluetooth and 3G driver and therefore the GPS ( [Toshiba Europe|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] )
Screen Buttons, except the Toshiba Assist and Presentation button.
Both opens this: [Buttons|https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=0b5d644d977b4b3a&id=B5D644D977B4B3A%212226&sf f=1] ,
Which I find more useful then the old functions.
Installed Value Added Package, I think from here: [Go to download section|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?modelFilter=M750-S7213&rpn=PPM75U&category=&selCategory=2756709&moi d=2266999&os=&ct=SB&selFamily=1073768662] . The one from europe site didn't worked.
FingerPrint utility.
Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts and you have an option in the left side of the window for fingerprints. Installed the drivers and programs, works like a charm. Or search on google for TrueSuite
For the ctrl+al+arrow to flip the screen, I used iRotate (google it).
Still no solution for the HDD protection utility, yet.

Many Win7 drivers would work with Win 8 system.
But there are still some drivers and utilities which are not fully compatible.
Ive got a tip for you:
As far as I know the HDD protection Utility is not a model related software.
You could try to install the Win 8 HDD protection Utility released for Protg Z930
Would be really interesting to know if it works.

    -APS is not accurate
Solution: Download and apply lattest APS drivers.
    Download 32 bit Win 7
    Download 64 bit Win 7

Solution: Download latest BIOS from here then flash your laptop and reinstall ATI Discrete Drivers.

    Run Discrete Graphics
I've been playing around with the crippled drivers lately. I found that it's probably best to run discrete graphics since Intel GPU isn't really saving you power at all. I'm using drivers available through ATI's website. I'm getting around 3 hrs with power saving mode with some adjustments. My brightness adjustment works with ATI drivers and Window's dimming capability works. So in the long run that will probably save you more power than running Intel GPU. If anyone is able to get better battery life please let me know.
    Disable APS
APS is not working properly so it's better not to have it at all in my opinion. It's constantly stopping the hard drive even though there are no strong vibrations or movement.
APS drivers have been updated and are reported to resolve prior issues.

    Hi,
I think that APS is not working properly. It is too acurate. When I just move my laptop in APS application I can see that my laptop is shaking for a 30 seconds and then my hard drive is stopped. I knew that everything couldn't be great. How can they  (Lenovo) publish drivers without testing them?? Now there are two drivers, first the MOST important - switchable graphics - and now APS. I am just wondering why always Ideapads have to have problems with drivers?? We were waitng for a year without any support and now they give us faulty drivers. CONGARTUATIONS Lenovo!!!

  • Portege M750 and Win8 - metro interface, and touchpad don't work

For those of you that, as myself, tryed to install windows 8 in a Toshiba Portege M750 and had problems in portrait tablet mode I recommend the following driver it works perfectly:
    http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/TabletPC/ISD_DualTouch_710-8.zip
The problem I had was that swipe didn't work with metro interface, and touch didn't work also and in portrait, strangely, when you touch the secren two arrows with different directions woul appear.
    This driver solved my problem.
    Hope that this can help...

  • Portege M750 and Win8.1 Pro -tablet buttons don't work

    Hi
I'm having difficulties installing the tablet buttons in WINDOWS 8.1 Pro. Everything else works, perfectly.
In Windows 8 Pro this buttons worked nicely, but now, after a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro two of the buttons don't work. The buttons are the Toshiba assist button and the presebtation button. I've tried to configure them in Toshiba assist software but nothing happens.
I'm sure I've installed all drivers that made wverything work with Windows 8. As anyone tryed this and add success?

    > I'm sure I've installed all drivers that made wverything work with Windows 8
Windows 8.1 is not Windows 8 and many of Toshiba Win 8 drivers and tools dont work or are not fully compatible with Win 8.1
As far as I know the Toshiba does not support Win 8.1 on this Portege M750.
This means that no Win 8.1 drivers will be released and in such case some notebook features like the control buttons could not work properly.
Fact is that using Windows Vista or Win 7, such buttons were controlled by Value Added Package. This package does not exist for Win 8.1 and has been replaced by other software called Toshiba System Driver
So in case you want to try to get the buttons to work, I recommend checking this with Toshiba System Driver

  • Portege M750 - Change from 32-bit to 64-bit

I have just purchased a Portege M750 laptop which came preinstalled with Vista Business 32bit and seperate XP tablet on a recovery disc.
I am looking to resinstall with 64bit Vista business, then install the XP as part of a dual boot system to take full advantage of the 4GB already installed and further memory expansion in the future.
My question is this: Although the Toshiba drivers download page does not specifically list a Vista 64 bit OS, has anyone carried out a similar OS change on a portege/or different laptop and had any incompatabilty with the 32bit drivers and applications? If so, which drivers/features were problematic afterwards.
Does the "Toshiba" folder in the C:\ directory of laptop contain all the drivers and setup files required or would these all have to be downloaded from the website.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your replies.
I had called Toshiba UK and was told pretty much the same thing. They don't support 64bit and they didn't believe the 32bit drivers would work.
After a search on the internet, I came across a forum for tablet PC's, http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/ and found that although Toshiba europe doesn't support 64bit operating systems, Toshiba america does. www.toshiba.com. They also fully support all other Toshiba laptops and all windows operating systems in case anyone is needing drivers for Windows 7 or XP 64 bit.
I downloaded all of the drivers and applications from there and only had one or two conflicts afterwards with things not working. Most of these were sorted by going to manufactuers website. Webcam seems to be the only thing not working now but it might just need a full reinstallation of all the webcam driver/application software to fix...haven't quite had time to look at it yet.
I am surprised however that there isn't continuity with Toshiba offering the same driver/machine support across all the world regions. It's maybe something they'd look at sorting out in the future.
Anyways...off now to enjoy my new laptop.

  • Solved! Windows 7 driver solution for HP Color LaserJet 3550

I had success getting the HP Color LaserJet 3550n (the 3550 family ) printer to install in Win7.  That printer was the only thing that did not fire up with Win7. In the Devices and Printers window, I tried troubleshooting, but it was a problem with the DOT4USB drivers. Similarly to others, I was successful by using the following course of action:
      1) Went to HP and downloaded the Vista 32-bit drivers for the 3550, unpacking them at C:\HP CLJ3550\ as suggested by the driver file.
      2) In Devices & Printers, did <Right-Click> <HP 3550> <Properties> <Hardware tab>
      3) I selected the first "Device Function" <DOT4USB> then did <Properties> <Change Settings> <Driver tab> <Uninstall>.
      4) I then selected the second and third Function (which were <HP Color LaserJet 3550> and <IEEE 1284.4 compatible printer> and did the the <Properties> ... <Uninstall> for each.
      5) I disconnected the USB to the printer, went back to Devices & Printers, and selected <Add a Printer>.
      6) I selected <Add a local printer> <Use existing port DOT4_001> <Next> <Have Disk> <C:\HP CLJ3550> <OK> and installed the printer.
      7) It would not work unless I "let" Windows make it the Default Printer
      8) After it was finished, I did <Right-Click> on my preferred printer and selected <Set as default printer>, and everything worked.
    This question was solved.

I want to thank you for the solution.  You saved me the expense of having to purchase a new computer.  I used the 64 bit 2003 version and it works just fine.  The people at HP were not very cooperative at all.  When I called, the lady who answered the phone asked if I was from the United States or Canada. When I stated the United States she had a big sigh
of disgust.  When I explained my problem that I was having with the 3550 Laser jet and HP not having the Window 7 drivers, and that the printer was non functional, she stated that I should have researched whether or not my printer was compatible with a new operating system before purchasing it. I asked her if HP would have a compatible driver soon as I did not want to have to purchase a new printer. Then she stated that my printer was old (I bought it in 2005) and what did I expect,t as if the printer not working was my fault.    I told them about your solution to this problem and if they could help me through the step but she did not cooperate .Even if I had to pay the $39 fee to the tech dept for their assistance it was worth it saving time.  HP service in my opinion is very poor and will lean toward a competitors product if I am faced with a choice.  Thank you again.

  • [HP 2000-bf69WM] DOwngrading back to Windows 7 from Windows 8, drivers?

I am done with Windows 8. The needle in the coffin is UEFI and dual booting linux.

    ****Disclaimer*****
HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 on a consumer computer shipped with Windows 8, nor will it support the installation of Windows 7. HP may not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Also, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer.
Make sure you create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Flash Recovery media before modifying or changing ANYTHING.
    You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "BIOS Secure Boot cofiguration" on the settings page shown below, before you can attempt to install Windows 7;
Additionally, as the hard drive is most likely partitioned as GPT, you will have to boot the computer using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the "F9" boot menu. If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive",  "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect doesn't exist in the boot menu, please post a screen shot and/or descibe the listed boot options.
I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best intallation experience. If you need Windows SP1, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download and create your own Windows 7 SP1 disc. If the DVD refuses to boot as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (may require DISABLING "Fast Boot" in the BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid UEFI enabled USB Flash drive if it is formated as NTFS and may require a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer, or WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, as it has options for "GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer" and "FAT32".
    If you still have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers, please post the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" (just the string of text will do) for those devices as shown in the example below;
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1410 & Windows 7 drivers... do they exist?

Client just bought a HP Pavilion p7-1410 (Windows 8 pre-installed). Their sole booking engine they employ currently only operates through Internet Explorer 8, which is not supported by Windows 8. This is something they have no control over, as the company they have their service through has yet to upgrade their software to even IE9.  It's not a simple matter of upgrading browsers and even less simple to change the vendor/software solution. They have to work within the limits of the vendor software.
Currently, when a new computer is purchased, I have to go in and uninstall IE9. During that process, the system installs IE8. I then set the Automatic Updates to ignore any IE9 updates. Again, as Windows 8 no longer supports IE8, I have to find another solution.
The only solution I can see is to downgrade the OS to Windows 7. This isn't a real issue as they have open licensed Windows 7 for install on new machines. The issue I am having (before I begin the downgrade process) is I see no drivers for this particular computer's individual components (network/graphics/audio/devices) of the Windows 7 flavor, only Windows 8 is listed on the website.
My question is are there Window 7 drivers for this particular computer or do I have to have the client return this machine for a computer that will be compatible with Windows 7 (drivers)?
This is a stock machine purchased through Office Depot (i3 Core (2nd gen)/8GB RAM/1.5TB HDD/Windows 8 (x64)). The client is upgrading from an IBM ThinkCentre with Windows XP Pro (yes I know... so please no jibes/jokes).
All serious, constructive replies are greatly appreciated.

  • Q190 Windows 7 drivers don't work

Just received a pair of Q190s in the post and I immediately imaged them with our office's standard Win7 64 bit image. None of the Windows 7 drivers work. Not one. I ended up going to Realtek's site to get the NIC's driver. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gilgamesh1082, welcome to the forum,
exactly what do you mean by "None of the Windows 7 drivers work"; you were able to find and download them but there were problems installing them?
Some drivers require a two stage installation, firstly the driver wil be extracted to a location and then needs to be installed from there.  If this were the case with the LAN driver it would have extracted to  c:\drivers\Realtek LAN Driver
Did you download them from the Q190 Driver Matrix?

  • MOVED: Eclipse SLI & Windows 7 Drivers, etc

This topic has been moved to Windows 7.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=126646.0

    Hey Guys,
I actually have a dv9000 laptop myself so I was floored when I found out that HP would only support a few of the top laptop models for Windows 7 drivers. After doing alot of research and countless tinkering, I found the way to counteract at least one of the many woes many of you are feeling, updating NVIDIA GPU Drivers.
What I did was I went to HP's support site and downloaded their softpaq solution including the NVIDIA drivers for Vista (in my case, the 64-bit version). When it tries to install, it will fail saying that the version of Windows you're using is not Vista. By all means let it fail but don't exit unless you do so by the installer. This is where the next part comes in.
Go to the Screen Resolution Settings under Display and click on Advanced Settings. At this point, it should show you the properties of your card starting on the Adapter tab. Click on Properties and then the Driver tab. At this point, click on the Update Driver button and then click on the "Browse my computer for driver software." For my software, I found it under "C:/swsetup/sp42365/WinVista64." If you remember which softpaq file you downloaded, finding your path should be a piece of cake. After all of that, it should finally recognize your video card and ask you to reboot. If you're successful, you should be back at that 1400x900 resolution we all love.
I'll keep researching to see if the other softpad drivers react the same. I wish that HP at least tells people about this option since it's fairly easy to follow.

  • Satellite A300 and Windows 7 drivers

    Hi
Is anybody know, when or if actually will be a drivers operative for Windows Seven for this laptop????

    Hey buddy
Are you sure that you want to use Windows 7?
Dont forget that Windows 7 is only a beta version and it could include a lot of problems or something else.
I think the better solution would be Windows Vista or the older XP.
However, try to use the Windows Vista drivers that you can find on the Toshiba website or you search on external websites for drivers.
    Good luck! ;)

  • Portege R600 and Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 (custom install). Subsequently installed the Toshiba installer to load all relevant programs/drivers. I have a problem with the screen, particularly in Word 2003. It will suddenly distort, so that the words become faded/dotted/lined, in such a way that you cannot read the screen. A second open document in Word will be unaffected. Closing the particular document and re-opening clears the problem. The document remains fine, and is not corrupted.
Also found that sometimes when booting up or waking from hibernation, the machine freezes and it sounds like the fan is working overtime.
Nothing will happen then unless I force a power down and restart.
Finally, the wheel on my mouse (latest Windows 7 drivers installed) will not work to resize a Word screen, and will not work in the folder pane in Outlook 2003.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
