Portege R100 - Missing some Ethernet Controller Win XP drivers

The hard drive failed on my Portege R100 so I replaced it and installed Windows XP.
The only problem is that I am missing some drivers, so I am unable to get into the Internet - significantly the Device Manager indicates problems with the Ethernet Controller.
Is there a location to get these missing drivers? I don't even know what to look for to solve the Ethernet Controller portion.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks -
george

This is a direct link to your R100 LAN-drivers : http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/Intel100_os2006303a.exe

for your WLAN-drivers : look at the bottom of the download page in the link given above , use it to identify your Wlan card and choose the right driver
It's really not very difficult

Hi all, I have downgraded my laptop to XP Pro and downloaded the relevant drivers from the Toshiba site. I still look to be missing an Ethernet Controller and PCI drivers. Does anyone have a link to the drivers for this model (Satellite Pro L300-1FN (short serial: PSLB9E)) or know the serial number of the relevant parts?
    Thanks

  • Portege R100 - BIOS can't see 1.8-inch 2GB PCMCIA HDD

    Hello,
I have notebook TOSHIBA PORTEGE R100, I wanted to reinstall win XP using PCMCIA HDD (MK2001MPL).
It is easily detectable by Windows XP, but it is not detectable by my BIOS v. 1.3 (I've changed booting priority).
I need to mention that I formatted it to FAT32 and copied bootdiskette, but it still doesn't work. Is there any possibility to start the PCMCIA HDD with BIOS, or can I use it just as internal HDD.
Maybe there is special driver or other method to solve my problem.
Waiting for answer, any advice would be helpful...

    Hi,
the problem is that the HDD is not intended to act like a normal drive. Its more an extension and I am not sure I it would really work under the BIOS like you describe.
I think it wouldnt work because the HDD needs a driver which is not given when just the BIOS is loaded. Bios loads PCMCIA Network cards but I never heard from a PCMCIA HDD which was used as bootable drive. Maybe USB but no PC-Card.
IMHO I think you should drop your thoughts about using the Card as a bootable drive and use it like a normal internal memory expansion.
Otherwise: google is your friend :)

  • Portege R100 - Network Controller Driver

I've just installed windows7 business version on this laptop and I've got a Code 28 message in the Device Manager/Network Controller/General/Device Status window.
It can't find an appropriate driver.
I'll obviously need to instal via a CD or floppy as I can't currently access the network or the internet via that laptop.
But can someone give me the url of an appropriate driver.
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi
I think it could be a little bit difficult to find an Ethernet controller driver for Portege R100. The point is that this pretty old notebook supports only up to Windows XP according the Toshiba European driver download page.
So you have to search on external websites for drivers. The most Vista drivers are also work on Windows 7 so you should look for Vista drivers.
    What Ethernet controller you have?
If its a Realtek for example, you can search on the Realtek website: [www.realtek.com]
    Or e. g. Intel => [www.intel.com]

  • Portege R100 won't boot from the HDD - missing operating system

    Hello,
I have a Portege R100 that won't boot from the HD, I get the message "missing operating system".
I don't have a compatible CD or floppy driver, I just have a 1.8 inch case for the hd, it works, i also have norton ghost 2003 installed in another computer (a toshiba satellite A45).
I tried to recover the disk using norton and the ghost image in the recovery cds but it keep asking for a password.
I would like to know if there is a way to use the recovery cds with norton and the usb driver and avoid the password screen (or where can I get the password?).
    Thanks!

Yes, I know that the recovery cds are password protected, that's the password I'm talking about.
I'm not trying to boot from a USB stick, I'm using ghost 2003, this way when I reboot the USB device is recognized as a second hard drive.
I have the option to use the cds to recover from the ghost enviroment but I would need the gho password.
What I would like to know is if there is a command line to force the cd to ghost the second driver instead of the first.
I'm not a great fan of norton ghost but I don't have another option, all cd drivers that I have are incompatible with Portege R100.
    Thanks,

  • LAN connection not working/Ethernet controller driver missing

I got a new hard drive and installed a clean copy of windows 7 on it. After dealing with a few problems I finally had it up and running. I transferred via usb and installed drivers from http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-500-Desktop-PC-series/7779690/model/8154137#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1. Every thing is working except for my LAN connection.  I can connect to wifi however. In device manager I have a ! next to ethernet controller.  Had ! on a bunch more before installing other drivers.  In network adapter settings there is no listed Local Area Connection.  What do I need to get my Lan connection working again?

Hi: The support page for your model indicates you need this ethernet driver... This package provides the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Driver for supported models running a supported operating system. File name: sp71102.exe You have to manually install this driver. Run the file and then go to the device manager. Click on the ethernet controller needing drivers. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder should be located in C:\SWSetup\sp71102. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA5A Windows doesn't recognise ethernet controller

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with an A100 PSAA5A-01H00T running Win XP sp2.
Windows doesn't recognise an ethernet controller, hence the wireless NIC is not working, although the wired connection is.
I've tried installing the latest WLAN drivers from the support site (both of them), to no avail. Windows is insisting the appropriate drivers are not installed.
I suspect a hardware problem, and have the user on an external wireless NIC, but I'd appreciate any insight you guys can provide.
    Thanks.

    Hi mate
What Ethernet controller is not recognized? WLan or LAN?
Do you have some unknown devices in the device manager?
If yes, then a essential driver is missing and therefore the controller is not recognize properly.
You dont know what Wlan or LAN chip you have and what driver is necessary?
    Check this:
How to identify an unknown device (e.g. Wireless LAN module)?

  • Ethernet Controller & Safely Remove Hardware With Windows 7 On X200

    Hi,
I'm having a weird issue with Windows 7 on my X200. For some reason, my ethernet controller is being displayed in my system tray under "Safely Remove Hardware". Is anyone else having this problem? If you are not having this problem, would you mind checking what driver you are using so that I can try it as well?
I have the "Intel 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III" and I'm using the driver that was installed automatically from Windows 7 I presume. Its seems like the only option though...
Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Slow Internet Connection Speeds caused by Ethernet Controller Driver

Problem:  Internet connection speeds are 1/10 of available connection speed.
    1. Problem statement is based on running speed tests at cnet, speedtest.net, and AT&T.
    2. I am paying for 12 MBps down load speed but I only get about 1.5 MBps.
    3. Other computers in household get 11+ MBps connected to the same ethernet cable and also different ethernet cables.
    4. I traced the problem to the network controller driver.
    5. I updated to the latest driver with no change in performance.
    6. After some experimenting I found that if I re-install the driver after the computer is booted up, the internet connection down load speeds increase to 11+ MBpS (typically around 11.4 with maximum capability of 12)
I have assumed that the driver does not load properly the first time, but why?  Or is there some other cause or setting that I have overlooked?

Managed to get the 8.1 SM Bus Controller Driver Installed
I tried the AMD chipset earlier without success
Re installed both Intel driver downloads again with no joy
Finally tried to load drivers manually Sp 67245 by pointing to the intel saved directory again
This time the driver loaded altough I tried it last night ( another HP post mentioned doing something very similar)
    I should note I am dual booting Win7 &  8.1
When i started the computer was missing  2 drivers  PCI Simple Communications ControllerBCM20702A0 & SM Bus Contoller on both operating systems
For WIn7 IntelChipset Driver SP 65025.exe solved the Sm Controller Driver issue & SP 69680.exe Broadcom 2070/ 20702 Bluetooth Driver install the BCM20702A0 driver
For Win8.1 manually pointing to the Intel Sp 67245 directory on CWSETUP\SP245 loaded resolved the SM Bus Controller Driver
WIn 7 drivers installed without any issues such as above

  • Problems with Ethernet controller and PCI device driver on Satellite L30-10X

    Hellow!
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Russia.
Just few days ago I bought Satellite L30-10X with W Vista on board. My opinion, that this OS does't very good on this computer, so I install W XP.
I have some problems with drivers. At first, I dont know what model I have:PSL30 or PSL33? I download all drivers for both models. But, after installation, computer doen't find drivers for Ethernet controller and PCI device...

    Hi
Satellite L30-10X belongs to the PSL33E series. This number can be found on the label placed on the bottom of the unit!
You have to choose this number from the driver download form to get the compatible XP drivers.
I dont know why you are not able to install the LAN driver. Ive got the same notebook with Vista and Ive installed the XP and all drivers run fine.
I assume you have installed the drivers in wrong order. Please take the look in the Toshiba installation instruction txt file. In this order you have to install the driver! Its important.
I think you should install the XP again to ensure the clean registry and then download and install the compatible XP drivers like mentioned in the installation instruction file.
    Good luck
