Portege R500 - anybody using DVI over Port Replicator II on WIndows 7 Beta?

Hi,
im using the WIndows 7 beta on my R500 and it's runnig everything well except the DVI-Port (over the Slim Port Replicator II).
All I have installed are the Fingreprint-Software, the bluetooth-stack (which were recommended as solution by the action-centre) and the "TOSHIBA Value Added Package" which adds the Power Management software, control over the 2 hardware Buttons and gives the FN-onscreen-menu to control the FN1-9 functions.
I think I can say it is definatively an driver issue, because if I start the R500 the windows loading-screen is shown on my external screen but when he switches to the desktop the external screen turns off and the desktop appears on the laptop screen. Also no chance to activate it via FN+F5.
I tried it with the buildin Windows 7 driver, the newest intel driver (15.8.3) and the vista driver provided by toshiba (7.14.10.1244), but unlucky none of them works :(
Btw: the vga output works, but only UNdocked :(
Has anyone a solution or a hint what to do or try?

Hello,
the second monitor does not appear in the display settings if the laptop is docked. Even connected to the vga it is not been recognized while this state.
Undocked the vga port works immediately and is shown in the display settings and over FN+F5!
With one driver (didn't remember which one exactely) the FN+F5 menu showed me all options (docked!) (Internal, vga+int, vga only, dvi+int, dvi only) but i couldnt switch to dvi. It was the same behaviour like under XP where I had to boot the Laptop with the DVI-TFT connected (i used Hibernation everytime i docked the r500). But under Win7 this worked, as I said before, only for the "pre-boot" sequence. The windows loading screen showed up, but during switching to the desktop the DVI-port got deactivated.
Recently i dont know my actual BIOS Version, I will check this and try the newest version.

  • Port Replicator compatible with Windows 8.1

Does anyone know if HP has a port replicator that is compatible with Windows 8.1?  I have found that there may be one for Windows 8 but not 8.1.

    Hello JLINDBACH,
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand you are looking for a port replicator that will work on Windows 8.1. The HP USB 3.0 3005pr Port Replicator does have a driver for Windows 8.1 that you can download here: HP 3005pr USB 3.0 Port Replicator Driver for Windows 8.1
Currently, HP does not sell any with the support built-in out-of-box. Downloading the driver and applying it allow you to have that compatibility. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

  • Portege R700-14J - Compatible with Express Port Replicator II?

Today I received my TOSHIBA Express Port Replicator II (PA3680E-1PRP) to be used with my TOSHIBA Portege R700-14J (PT311E-023006DU). I seem to be unable to fit the notebook easily into the docking station.
Please let me knwo whether this port replicator docking station is *the right model* for the Portege R700-14J.

    Hi mostlymedia,
I have a little bit searched using Google and I found that Port Replicator II is compatible with Portg M750 and Tecra A/M/R/S Series but no information about Portege R700 :(
In my opinion you should ask the ASP in your country if its the correct part or not before you do something wrong.

  • Does Portege R700 support new high speed Port Replicator 2 PA3916E-1PRC

Will the new high speed Port Replicator 2 fit my R700?
It lists it as only compatible with the R830 series.
However the old R700 replicator works with the R830, so i kind of figured the new slimline effort would work with the R700 as well??
    Anyone tried/know this?
    Old one: PA3838D-1PRP
    New one: PA3916E-1PRC

  • Cant use DVI-D port with DVI-D cable from Pav 500-100a to HP W2207 monitor

I have a new Pav 500-100a factory standard with no mods.  A HP w2207 monitor.
Currently connect fine with VGA to the DVI-D port with the adapter that came with the pc.  I've setup Windows, updated to 8.1, put in my files from my old PC and all was well except video isnt that good.
I got a DVD cable form work but its a DVI-I cable.  It took 5 mins before windows comes up and then whenever the background picture changed in the theme it hung for a few seconds.  I read that I need a DVD-D cable which i purchasd today.
The packet says its a CL-DVI2M - DVI M/M 24+1 CABLE 2M.  The tech in the shop says its a good calbe and will work fine.
When connected and I power up I get teh hp logo and rolling dots then it goes blank.
I reconnect teh VGA cable and its all fine - using the VGA to DVI adapter.
I ran msconfig and turned of safe boot - restarts and comes up fine in safe mode.  I set the resolution to 1280x800 and restarted and reconnected the DVI cable - blank again.
If I put the VGA cable back in it boots fine.  The monitor has been factory reset and seens the DVI connection but Windows remains blank. Also tried booting first with no cable - connect teh DVI and the monitor remains in sleep - power reset teh monitor and still blank also shows no DVO conenction.
I fI power up with DVI connected I can get to BIOS, and i see the HP logo and dots as Win 8 starts.
I dont know what else I can try.  I have no other usable video card with DVI
    Any ideas out there?
    Pls help - Steve

    Hi Steve,
Only connect one active video cable to the monitor and do not use any adapters.
Use a flashlight and examine the DVI connector on the monitor.  Which DVI type is it?
Some of the older HP monitors have DVI issues so you might want to check with HP Support and see if you have one of those models.
An older post a long time back indicated that audio also had to be feed to the monitor (claimed by a poster).  If this is indeed true then it's a monitor design flaw. So, you could use a native HDMI cable and test out that claim.

  • Portege R500-11Z: Using Recovery Disk to prepare a new HDD

I have bought a new hard drive (SSD) for my R500-11Z and I have put it in an enclosure with USB cable prior to installation - I want to be able to format the drive and create a clean copy of Windows XP before taking out my existing hard drive.
I have been looking for ways to use the recovery disk and it LOOKS like it should be possible... EXCEPT...
I have worked out that on the recovery disk there is a executable called recoUNPACK in the Tools folder, which should in theory restore the contents of the disk to the hard drive. However, because the new hard drive is plugged into my existing XP set up it gets a folder called System Volume Information written to it. The presence of this folder causes the recoUNPACK to fail. It gets to 59% each time and then throws the error - System Volume Information already exists.
Anyone suggesting deletion of the folder should consider their knowledge of XP - there is no way to do this, ask Mr Google if you don't believe me. I have also tried this with full write permissions of this folder so that, in theory, recoUNPACK could overwrite...
I would be very grateful if anyone knows a way of 'forcing' overwrite of the System Volume Inofrmation folder or another way of 'restoring' the recovery disk to my new hard drive (other than taking the laptop apart and physically replacing the drive!).
I have looked at various options for setting up a bootable USB disk, but as I'm going to fit it within my laptop I don't want to run any odd versions of XP - hence using the recovery disk that came with my R500. All the bootable USB programmes that I can find only allow fat32 format, and I'd like to stick to NTFS...
And the reason I want to do it this way is that I want to continue using my existing hard disk until the new one is ready - its supposed to be an efficient way of working... but so far the time wasted trying to restore the disks might have been better spent undoing the screws on the back of the machine!
    Thanks in advance

    > My question is about how to use recoUNPACK.exe via USB external drive, not how to set up a new ssd within my r500.
Im not expert in recoUNPACK.exe. I dont use it simply because there are other, easier ways to backup and restore the system.
    > - its not just operating system, its the other software that I need to load and update.
Sorry but I cannot follow you now... the Toshiba image contains the Windows system, Toshiba drivers and tools.
But it does NOT contain the 3rd party software you have preinstalled on the notebook.
So even you would be able to unpack the Toshiba image on the external SSD drive, you would need to install all the 3rd party software / tools which are already available on your HDD. This would definitely NOT decrease your down-time.
In my opinion if you want to decrease your down-time, I recommend creating an image backup of your partition using the Windows 7 tool backup and restore
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore
This backup could be saved somewhere on an external medium.
After a short system installation (using recovery disk) on new SSD drive, use the restore option to get the same system status back.

  • Anybody use an Apple AirPort Express Base Station (windows)

    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB...mco=MTIxODk3Mw
Im thinking about getting one of these and just wanting people opinions on it working with windows.
Just im a little confused, can i use it as a wireless router insted of my net gear, or will i still have to use my net gear router. My internet comes from the telephone wire if that helps?
    Many thanks James

Hello jshrubb. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since you didn't include the model of your Netgear router, it will be a little hard to determine if the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) could replace all of its functions.
So, here's what the AirPort Express is, and is not to help you decide:
o The AX is an Internet wireless router.
o The AX does not have a built-in modem: DSL, ADSL, Satellite or cable ... so one of these will still be required.
o The AX does not have a built-in Ethernet switch. It does have an Ethernet port, but that ports primary function is to be connected to the modem. However, it could be used to connect a wired client, but only if the AX is reconfigured as either a remote or relay base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). The bottom-line here is that if you need to support wired clients, the AX would not be the appropriate choice for your network.
o The AX does support iTunes audio streaming so that when connected to either a pair of powered speakers or an audio system, you can stream iTunes to speakers wirelessly.

  • Port replicator on T43

    Hello,
I received today the Port replicator but could not get the PC to recognize this and create a "docked" hardware profile.
Going trough diferent searches I could not find if the port replicator should allow "docking" or not
The use of the port replicator is mainly to be able to disconnect the second monitor, external keyboard, mouse and LAN when I have to move into an other room and being able to link up to projectors trough the VGA port

Huh it will not be easy to find good explanation for this.
At this time when Tecra M2 was offered on the market as compatible port replicator Toshiba has offered Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III (not +) and at this time both supported operating system was tested with it.
Later Toshiba has designed Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III+ and confirmed compatibility with Tecra M2 but obviously with newer (at this time) WXP.
So now you have follow situation: you use newer port replicator but with much older operating system so I presume there is maybe some compatibility problem with W2K.
I cannot imagine you use it so often with W2K and if yes it cannot be so problematic to connect mouse directly on notebooks USB port.
Sorry but I dont think there is anything you can do about it.

  • Freezing: Protégé M780 w/ Express Port Replicator II

I've recently been using my M780 laptop with an Express Port Replicator II. Ever since I've been using the port replicator, my laptop has been freezing intermittently. The screen will freeze and the laptop's fan will begin to blow loudly. I'm using Window 7 Professional 64-bit.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue. I still have the previous express port replicator. My laptop worked well with it; it never freezes. It only freezes when I use the new port replicator.
Is there anyone else having the same issue?

  • ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video (M01060) drivers for Windows 8 RTM

    Hello,
I have a X301 with the port replicator (M01060) running Windows 8 RTM build. I tried installing the Windows 7 drivers with no luck. The screens will flicker and I also getting blue screen crashes. I had to uninstall the drivers but I can only use the port replicator as usb hub.
Any workaround to this issue? I have 2 external monitors I use for work plus the laptop one as third.
    Thanks for your help.
    Marcelo

I have the exact same problem on my W510. Everything but the screen Works. I cannot however do duplicate screens. That would help a Little bit, so I could use the big monitor instead of just the laptop.
    Please fix this Lenovo!

I have only managed to accomplish it two or three times, and I have no idea how I did it. I push it down onto the replicator, lining the corner up as I am supposed to, but it does not engage. Any ideas?

Just to add, the R series use the ThinkPad Port Replicator II unit.

  • Portege R500 - Slim port Replicator II: Dual Monitor DVI & RGB together

Is it possible to use a dual monitor setup on a slim port replicator II if I connect one monitor to the DVI-port and the other to the RGB-port?
    I have a Toshiba Portege R500 notebook.
    TIA

    Hi
I didnt find any information regarding the Advanced Port Replicator II but I found some info about Advanced Port Replicator III and the simultaneous usage of RGB & DVI ports
So the point is that this is possible *BUT ONLY* if notebook system unit _itself also support_ RGB & DVI simultaneous usage.

  • Portege R500: Which port replicator with DVI could be compatible

    Hi,
Does anyone know which port replicator with DVI supports the portege R500 notebook.
When I look at the product and it's accessories no one of the port replicators lists the portege R500 as a supported notebook.
Perhaps there is not one as of now?

    Hi
I also used the Toshiba Options & Accessories website for the searching and I found these parts:
    - Dynadock - Universal USB Docking Station with Video (DVI) Phase 2 PA3542E-2PRP
    - Slim Port Replicator 2 PA3603E-1PRP
    - USB 2.0 Port Replicator II (Ethernet / EU Version) PX1173E-1PRP

  • Cannot connect 2 external monitors via port replicator using Portege Z30-16U

    Hi All
I need hell I just moved from a other laptop to the Portege Z30-16U, I have spent hours trying to connect my 2 external monitors to my Hi-Speed Port replicator III 120W but my laptop will only see one monitor.
I have been using 2 external monitors with my laptop for yrs as I do a lot or reading and I do not want to use only one and the laptop screen.
I have tried VGA cables and mix of a VGA and a HDMI but nothing is working.
Can anyone tell me how I can connect and view 2 external monitors with this laptop and port replicator, I cannot believe it is not possible it would make no sense that Toshiba would be so technilogically behind other laptop manufacturers.
    Thanks
    Liga

    Hi
I am not familliar with the Portreplicator of Z30, but the general behaviour of the dual-displayconnector replicators is that 1 can be used.
    Not 2 simultaneously.
I may be wrong and you should easily be able to check this - use only 1 at a time.
    First one, then the other.
If both works when used alone, then my suspicion is right.
    Hope this helps!
