Portege R500 - Slim port Replicator II: Dual Monitor DVI & RGB together

Is it possible to use a dual monitor setup on a slim port replicator II if I connect one monitor to the DVI-port and the other to the RGB-port?
I have a Toshiba Portege R500 notebook.
TIA

Hi
I didnt find any information regarding the Advanced Port Replicator II but I found some info about Advanced Port Replicator III and the simultaneous usage of RGB & DVI ports
So the point is that this is possible *BUT ONLY* if notebook system unit _itself also support_ RGB & DVI simultaneous usage.

  • Portege R500: Which port replicator with DVI could be compatible

    Hi,
Does anyone know which port replicator with DVI supports the portege R500 notebook.
When I look at the product and it's accessories no one of the port replicators lists the portege R500 as a supported notebook.
Perhaps there is not one as of now?

    Hi
I also used the Toshiba Options & Accessories website for the searching and I found these parts:
    - Dynadock - Universal USB Docking Station with Video (DVI) Phase 2 PA3542E-2PRP
    - Slim Port Replicator 2 PA3603E-1PRP
    - USB 2.0 Port Replicator II (Ethernet / EU Version) PX1173E-1PRP
If you need more details about these single devices then google simply for these part numbers.

  • Portege R930-1D0 + High speed port replicator II - dual monitor support

    Hi
Running a Portege R930-1d0 through High speed port replicatior II.
Is it possible to output to dual displays?
    Thanks

    >So if I connect one monitor via VGA and another via display port I should get output to both monitors?
Well, usually it should be possible to use two external monitor simultaneously.
But Im not quite sure about the VGA/Display port combination because the VGA port supports analogue signal and the HDMI / Display port supports digital output.
    However, it worth a check
Otherwise you could try to connect one monitor directly to the notebook and the other to port replicator.

  • Slim Port Replicator 2 - Widescreen Resolution

    Hi,
I consider buying a Slim Port Replicator 2 for my Portege R500.
I've two questions about the replicator:
The specified max. resolution is 1600x1200. I want to connect a widescreen display with a resolution of 1680 x 1050. Will this work?
I'm using linux and I'm concerned if there's some sort of windows only driver needed to operate the replicator?

    Hi
Im not port replicator expert but in my knowledge the Slim Port Replicator 2 supports 1 x RGB (Monitor) and 1 x DVI (Video) port which supports an max resolution of 1600x1200.
As mentioned the DVI port supports max 1600x1200px and other higher resolution is not possible.
But maybe you will be able to choose your favorite resolution of 1680 x 1050 using the RGB (Monitor) port
    Best regards

  • Port replicator and dual displays

Stupid question alert - if the machine stands straight up in the replicator, how do you use the display in a dual configuration?  Also, you still need toplug a USB cable in?

Sorry can you explain what you mean if the machine stands straight up in the replicator? Also, which machine are we talking about here and the model of the port replicator?

  • T61 and port replicator with 2 monitors

I have a T61, 6460-66U, connected to a port replicator. My laptop stays closed and out of sight. I have a Y connector going from the analog video port to each of the LCD monitors. The displays work, but they are clones of each other. I want one to be the main monitor and the other to be the extended desktop. The video card in this T61 is a Nvidia Quadtro NVS 140M. Please help!

    Guybak, welcome to the forum,
I'm not sure it will work with a Y connector. I've never tried it so you are more than welcome to prove me wrong
What will work is attaching one screen to the VGA and the other to the DVI on the Mini-Dock. You can then create a profile in Presentation Director where you must disable the ThinkPad screen in order for it to work. I decribed it in this thread, but unfortunately the member never came back to say it worked for them, I must presume yes.

  • Portege R500 - USB ports unresponsive for 35-60 sec after Standby

When my R500 (running Vista Business) wakes up from Standby, Vista is ready to use within about 7 seconds. This would be great except that the USB ports and the Bluetooth function don't wake up for a further 25 to 50 seconds.
I use a USB or a Bluetooth mouse and I find this long start up delay spoils the otherwise excellent user experience.
Has anyone noticed the same problem, and/or does anyone know of a solution?

Thanks to Akuma and Raver for responding. Replies as follows:
    1. It happens with any USB mouse, either wired or cordless. With a basic USB optical mouse it's easy to see when the USB port wakes up because the bright red scanning LED comes on. I start a stop watch when the touchpad starts working and stop it when the LED on the mouse comes on. The delay varies but can be from 13 to 60 sec.
    2. When I use a Bluetooth mouse the delay after wakeup is slightly longer than with a USB mouse. The delay seems to be the sum of the basic USB delay (as in point 1) plus an extra delay for the Bluetooth radio link.
    3. With the same mice on a Toshiba M5 running XP Pro, there's no USB delay and only the quite short delay for the Bluetooth radio link.
    4. Running msinfo32.exe shows the bios as Toshiba version 1.60, 04/03/2008. I've checked for a new bios. The current latest bios on the UK Toshiba site says â??modified 14/03/2008 but when I try to run it I get the message that the bios is already up to date.
    5. The Vista came preinstalled and is fully patched with all MS updates.
    6. I'll look into updating the chipset drivers as suggested by Raver and we'll see what happens.
FWIW, while searching around I noticed three people using Vista on Sony laptops who experienced similar delays with a USB flash drive.

  • Portege R500 - anybody using DVI over Port Replicator II on WIndows 7 Beta?

    Hi,
im using the WIndows 7 beta on my R500 and it's runnig everything well except the DVI-Port (over the Slim Port Replicator II).
All I have installed are the Fingreprint-Software, the bluetooth-stack (which were recommended as solution by the action-centre) and the "TOSHIBA Value Added Package" which adds the Power Management software, control over the 2 hardware Buttons and gives the FN-onscreen-menu to control the FN1-9 functions.
I think I can say it is definatively an driver issue, because if I start the R500 the windows loading-screen is shown on my external screen but when he switches to the desktop the external screen turns off and the desktop appears on the laptop screen. Also no chance to activate it via FN+F5.
I tried it with the buildin Windows 7 driver, the newest intel driver (15.8.3) and the vista driver provided by toshiba (7.14.10.1244), but unlucky none of them works :(
Btw: the vga output works, but only UNdocked :(
Has anyone a solution or a hint what to do or try?

    Hello,
the second monitor does not appear in the display settings if the laptop is docked. Even connected to the vga it is not been recognized while this state.
Undocked the vga port works immediately and is shown in the display settings and over FN+F5!
With one driver (didn't remember which one exactely) the FN+F5 menu showed me all options (docked!) (Internal, vga+int, vga only, dvi+int, dvi only) but i couldnt switch to dvi. It was the same behaviour like under XP where I had to boot the Laptop with the DVI-TFT connected (i used Hibernation everytime i docked the r500). But under Win7 this worked, as I said before, only for the "pre-boot" sequence. The windows loading screen showed up, but during switching to the desktop the DVI-port got deactivated.
Recently i dont know my actual BIOS Version, I will check this and try the newest version.

  • What cable(s) for audio on hp zr2440w monitor with HP 3005pr port replicator and HP Folio laptop?

I have an HP ZR2440w monitor.
I have an HP Folio laptop.
I have an HP 3005pr port replicator.
I want to use the monitor's built-in speakers.
Question 1) What cable do I need to connect the port replicator to the monitor to use the monitor's built-in speakers?
Question 2) Does the monitor have a built-in microphone?
Question 2b) If yes, what cable do I need to connect the port replicator to the monitor to use the monitor's built-in microphone?
    Thanks!

I understand you have some questions connecting the zr2440w monitor to the Hp 3005pr port replicator.
The back of the replicator should look something like this.
Question 1) What cable do I need to connect the port replicator to the monitor to use the monitor's built-in speakers?
The green headphone jack is how you would connect it to a set of external speakers.  If the monitor has its own speakers, it should have a port to match it.  This is a standard 3.5mm audio jack, so any standard 3.5mm speaker cable should work.  I will note that this monitor didn't list any audio input.  Monitors that have speakers usually have an analog audio input jack.
Question 2) Does the monitor have a built-in microphone?
This guide lists all the features of this monitor starting on page 2.  It doesn't appear to have a microphone.  You could still connect an external microphone to the port replicator's microphone jack.
Let me know if this answered your questions.

  • Need videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation -for PowerMac G5

I'm looking for a videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation for PowerMac G5. I've got two Dell 2407WFP monitors rotated to 90 -I've been running an ATI Radeon X1900 256 pcie16 but apparently it is over heating -not even exactly sure if that indeed is the case but all the symptoms I've looked up online point to this problem. Anyways -just looking for a card that will do the job -I don't run games -this is just for work machine doing photoshop and related programs. Thanks for any help anyone may have!

    Hi-
A flashed card is a WinPC card that has been modified to accept a Mac ROM to provide for Mac compatibility.
Occasionally, soldering and other physical modifications are required.
Without this modification, a WinPC graphics card cannot be used in a MAc.
Without this modification, Mac users are limited to only a handful of used, OEM options.
The Geforce 7800 GS is the only 7800 card that may be used in a G5 (or G4).
The card must have been or be converted to Mac compatibility.
For dual monitors (DVI) the best performance choices are the Geforce 6800 Ultra (flashed or OEM), a rare, but occasionally available Geforce 6800 GT (flashed), an OEM Radeon X800XT (use ADC/DVI adapter on ADC port) a rare and expensive Radeon FireGL X800 (flashed).
These are the only performance oriented cards to offer dual digital display support.
For less demanding graphics work, an OEM Radeon 9650 offers dual digital output.
Other OEM graphics cards will have either DVI/DVI or ADC/DVI.
All OEM graphics cards are only available as used.
All cards are easiest to obtain on eBay.
Prices vary, but deals can be found.
Expect to pay $150-$325 for any of the cards listed.
Any card considered MUST be stated as Mac compatible, unless you are willing to research and learn how to perform the necessary modifications.

  • HP 3005pr Port Replicator wont install in Vista

I'm trying to install a HP 3005pr USB 3.0 Port Replicator on Windows Vista Ulimate 32bit and the installtion fails.
I get "A previous uninstall of HP Port Replicator is not yet complete. Please reboot your computer and run this installer again to installation."
I've rebooted and it does not help.
    The installer is sp60674.exe
I've had a Google and most of the hits talk about Windows 8 compatibility.
However, some suggestions made by other people include:
    - Uninstalling the program - it's not in the list
    - CCleaner - I did every option in all the lists
    - try an older driver version - I found sp57727.exe and although it appeared to install I don't have anything appearing in the Programs list and the drivers are still missing.
    Any other suggestions ?

  • Cannot connect 2 external monitors via port replicator using Portege Z30-16U

    Hi All
I need hell I just moved from a other laptop to the Portege Z30-16U, I have spent hours trying to connect my 2 external monitors to my Hi-Speed Port replicator III 120W but my laptop will only see one monitor.
I have been using 2 external monitors with my laptop for yrs as I do a lot or reading and I do not want to use only one and the laptop screen.
I have tried VGA cables and mix of a VGA and a HDMI but nothing is working.
Can anyone tell me how I can connect and view 2 external monitors with this laptop and port replicator, I cannot believe it is not possible it would make no sense that Toshiba would be so technilogically behind other laptop manufacturers.
    Thanks
    Liga

    Hi
I am not familliar with the Portreplicator of Z30, but the general behaviour of the dual-displayconnector replicators is that 1 can be used.
    Not 2 simultaneously.
I may be wrong and you should easily be able to check this - use only 1 at a time.
    First one, then the other.
If both works when used alone, then my suspicion is right.
    Hope this helps!

  • Enhanced USB port replicator 43R8811 and dual monitor

I have problem with USB port replicator. I cannot put a right resolution to monitor (wide screen monitor). Replicator's settings say that I can use up to 1280x1024 resolution but monitor support i.e. 1400x1050 resolution which port replicator should support by user manual.
If I put monitor direct to my X300 laptop I can use monitor's right resolution (1680x1050).
Is it drivers problem or what that I cannot put a right settings?
    -Paul-

I'm having trouble understanding your phrasing.
The Enhanced USB Port Replicator I recently purchased supports 1440x900 and can be configured to do so.  I did have to install the drivers by downloading from the web (they were provided on a CD -- convenient since my laptop came with no CD/DVD drive :-).  Once the drivers  were installed, it happily suports 1440x900.  Did you already install the software?  Older versions of the port replicator don't support above 1280x1024, but that should not be the case with the Enhanced one.
So you should be able to set any resolution up to 1440x900.
Of course "1400x1050" would be a higher resolution than 1440x900, and thus not supported right?
