Portege R835-P56X web cam application stuck on screen

So hi peeps, Ive had my Portege for almost 3 years, and this problem just started in the last month or so. The application menu that is hidden off screen and slides out when you put your mouse there is stuck on screen, will not go away, and remains on top when other programs are running. Its extremely annoying! There's no error message or anything. Has anyone else encountered this problem? And if so, how do you fix it?
TIA!!

My Web camera fails to initialize.

I don't see the web camera listed in my Device Manager, either.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this is greatly appreciated.  I do have my Recovery disks, but I don't know how to reinstall my web cam from them.

Reinstall the Toshiba Web Camera Application found HERE.

  • Toshiba Web Camera Application

    HI,
A while ago on my computer the web camera application stopped working after it had previously been for a couple weeks before hand. Whenever I clicked on it my screen would go black and then come back and nothing would happen. Now I am trying to fix the problem,I just tried uninstalling it from my computer which I did and now when I click on it it tells me that windows is searching for it and I can browse for it myself if I want. I then tried reinstalling it from the support area of Toshiba.com and after I had downloaded it nothing happened, I clicked run and then that was it the program never popped up on my desktop. I was wondering if maybe I downloaded it wrong or if any one else has any ideas on how to fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

What model number is your computer? It should be on a label on the bottom.

  • Web camera application causes IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Hi
Whenever I try to go to web camera application it causes an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. This started when I the battery drained out while doing the facial recognition login process in Vista. The web cam can be used fine, however when I try to use the program it causes the Blue Screen. I tried reinstalling the software to no avail.

    Which computer?

  • Web camera application doesn't auto hide on my Satellite A660

    Hi
Just getting started with my Satellite A660. The Web Camera Application doesn't want to autohide at the edges of the screen.
The only way I can get it off the screen is to close it. Can anyone suggest a solution to make it autohide?
    thanks,
    Simon.

    >.... all you have to do is move the app to either side of the screen and it'll hide itself.
    > I don't know why someone wouldn't go on to explain after pointing out the obvious solution as clicking on "Auto Hide."
As far as I know, by default, preinstalled application and small menu are already on the side (left) and with enabled Auto Hide so the question is why this doesnt work.
Has used moved the menu in the middle on the screen or what?

  • Portege R835-P56X : are there no Wifi and soundcard drivers for WIn XP ?

I have just got a Portege R835-P56X . Are there any Wifi and Soundcard drivers for Windows XP for this laptop ?  I want to downgrade to win XP as I have a huge collection of legacy software which have compatibility issues with WIndows 7. I can't find the required drivers on the Toshiba website, all though there are drivers for webcam or touchpad. I don't understand the reason for having a few drivers for XP but not all the required ones. Surely one can't use a laptop without Wifi or  audio.

Best to upgrade Home Premium to Professional and then install XP Mode. Works really well here.
Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade
Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7
It's not necessary to have hardware vitualization enabled. See KB977206.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - Toshiba Utilities - Web Camera Application missing

I have a new Satellite A660 with inbuiilt web camera, but there is no Toshiba software (as stated in the Manual) to run the web camera, nor the face recognition software.
I havent checked anything else yet but not in Programs directory and nowhere on the Start menu.
Any help as to where to find the software ?

I agree with Paolo30, if the webcam is available on this notebook, then an right software should be installed as well. Go to the Toshiba driver page and check for your model:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    [Australian Toshiba Driver Page|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support]
However, on my laptop I haven't installed any Toshiba webcam utility myself, Windows made it by default. And it runs..... Maybe, it will work better with original Toshiba driver but I don't use webcam at all.

  • Web camera application settings not changing

My webcam settings stopped working. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Satellite C55-A5310. It worked fine and a few days ago the settings stopped working. I click mirror or flip and none of them work. The settings for colors don't work as well. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. How do I fix this and what is the link for checking the drivers for it?

If your computer is less than a year old I'd suggest contacting Toshiba Support as it is still under warranty.
You say you restored your computer.  Did you restore it to out-of-box state, or use a restore point?
I agree with you in that cannot locate the web cam driver on your support site.  Again, I'd contact Toshiba support and ask them where the driver/app is for your camera.

  • Toshiba Portege Problem: *Battery is not charging and web camera initialization failed.*

    Hi,
I am having problems with my Toshiba Portege laptop. 1) Once laptop opens, window appears which says, "Web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer." Not sure what happened why the web cam application did not run properly. 2) Battery won't charge. When clicking the battery icon, it just says, "0% available plugged in, charging." I  can not open my laptop when the cord is unplugged.
Appreciate if you can help me or any advice.
    Thanks,

always good to tell what Portege and what system is running...
    anyway -

an autostart process requests the camera, maybe Skype?
some web cams on USB ports do take some time
been initialised especially when attached via hub.
Windows boot sequences do not wait until they finished.
if the camera is working after a while than thats here the
case despite that message and it can be ignored.
    to #2
forget the software symbol for the purpose of the question -
on any notebook you should see a battery symbol/LED
somewhere on the case. its yellowish/orange when
charging green when battery is full.  if it doesn't change into green
(overnight charging) the battery is faulty or even missing...

  • R835 P56X lock ups

From day 1 (purchased a month ago) I'm still having lock ups with this laptop!  After few hours of use the screen goes black (sometimes blue), if I try to revive it the fan kicks in at full speed sounding like a leaf blower!
I've reinstalled Win7 with the latest drivers, installed a new SSD instead of the HD and this problem keeps re-occuring randomly (daily)!
I certainly would appreciate any ideas!

I replaced my HDD with a OCZ Vertex 3 SSD for my R835-P56x.  It boot in seconds and runs nice and fast, but I get lock-ups and BSOD after several hours (as described above).  Not sure if it had the problem with the HDD, because I didnt use the PC very long before upgrading.  I am also running a 800MB Dataram RAM Disk (Version 3.5.130) for browser cache, which I suspect could be the culprit.   My bios is 3.90 (7/31/2012).

    Satellite L505D-GS6000
Perhaps you mean you have the Satellite L505D-GS6000? Let's try a reinstall of the main base drivers, then the webcam driver/app, one more time. Download and install these drivers in this order:
    AMD/ATI Display Driver for Windows 7 (32/64) v8.634.1
Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 7 (32/64)(v6.0.1.5904)
Toshiba Web Camera Application for Windows XP/7 (32/64)(v1.1.1.6)
Then try the webcam again. Please let us know if it works, or if you get any error messages trying the above reinstalls. Good luck

  • Satellite L500-1WG - Built in web cam is not working

My built in web cam doesnt seem to be working, I discovered this last week and i've tried a few solutions such as uninstalling then reinstalling the driver but that work.
Also I delete my system restores to save space so I can't really go back to when it did work.
I don't think that i've installed any webcam drivers lately so I don't think it was that.
    Help?

    Hmmmm.....what can be done now?
Generally speaking webcam driver reinstall should help but you have tried it already.
Which operating system do you use?
Try to remove web camera application again, clean registry and all entries there, restart notebook and try to install right webcam driver again.
I really dont know what else you can try.
By the way: what is the webcam status in device manager?
