Portege Z930 15X - How to access BIOS?

HI all, I've got a Toshiba *Z930-15X*, and I can't access the BIOS at all.
I want to downgrade to W7, and it used to be pretty easy before Windows 8.
I know I have to follow these steps , and I would gladly, except I can't access this *** BIOS. I tried all the F1-F12 keys.
Does someone has this model and can tell me exactly which keys work, or another way to access the BIOS?
Thanks in advance!

Many people with new Win8 machines have asked the same question. Win8 is designed to have faster start as old Windows operating systems. For me it is something like standby option.
What you must do is to shut down Windows completely. After doing this you will be able to enter BIOS settings. Just follow link posted by PauPau and change settings in power options.
On my machine I must press F12 and there is option to enter setup settings BIOS settings.

  • How to access BIOS on Satellite L670-134

    Hi there,
i need to access the BIOS but i dont know the key combination.
Tried F1 F2 DEL Backspace etc none worked.
I think i turned an option like fast boot on once before... when i turn on the laptop i cant see any postscreen, the screen stays black after turning the laptop on and then the windows logo appears.
So how do i access the BIOS!?

    Hi buddy,
If you enable this fast boot option you must be very quick to enter the BIOS so press F2 key immediately after you turned on your notebook.
Alternative you can access the BIOS using preinstalled Toshiba HWsetup. The fast boot option you can also disable/enable with this tool as far as I know.

  • Flex 2-15: How to access BIOS

I purchased a new Flex 2-15 online the past week. The model name shown on the back is "20405". Manufacture date is May 12, 2014. The User Guide refers to a "Novo Button", which is shown in diagrams as being on both the left edge and the right edge near the front. Neither location has a button of any sort. The right edge has a pinhole in the supposed button location. A curved arrow icon is next to the pinhole. I have an inkling this may be some sort of factory reset button. Lacking the Novo button, what is the procedure for accessing the features which the manual says are accessed by pressing this non-existent button?. That is, BIOS, and/or the one touch image backup/restore system?
Moderator comment: Subject edited to match content.

That is correct.  At that position, my Flex has a pinhole roughly big enough for paper-clip wire. Many electronic devices (including some computers) use pinholes like that for hard reset purposes.  The "Safety, Warranty, and Setup Guide" foldout that was in the box with the laptop shows a "Novo button" at the same two locations as the User Guide. (The diagram is labeled Port assignment and button layout) One button is shown on the right edge at the left of the memory card slot (as on the UG page you refer to), the other on the opposite edge, just right of the audio jack. At both of those locations, my computer has solid plastic except for the pinhole at position #1 in the UG page 15.  This image may help:

  • Accessing BIOS on the DV6

I want to be able to access the Bios so that I can change my AMD 7xxxm series GPU to be the 'fixed' GPU so that the Intel HD 3000 is no longer used. I read that this can be changed in the BIOS, but when I restart my computer, there is no information on how to access BIOS, just a blank screen with a HP logo at the centre. I've tried the traditional F1, F10 and escape with none going to BIOS. Is there any way of accessing BIOS without having to take the PC apart? I've spent hours already trying to resolve this issue, and don't wish to take the computer apart.

  • Memory Problem on 790fx-gd70 - how to access DDR Voltage in BIOS?

I have been getting memory related problems on a 6 month old system. I could only boot from one stick of RAM (Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A) but even then system was not stable for gameplay or stability test though this stick did pass overnight memtest. I returned the board, cpu and memory for them to test. They diagnosed faulty RAM and replaced. Well it worked OK for 24 hours then I started getting BSOD "PFN_List_Corrupt" and "Memory_Management" crashes.
I tested the new sticks and one fails memtest after a few seconds with 2378 errors and the other, although it passes memtest with 20 passes, crashes out straight away on Prime95 Blend Test (i.e. the one that stresses RAM).
They suggested I enter DDR Voltage manually rather than relying on Auto but no matter what I seem to enable this option is greyed out. Does anyone know which settings need changing from defaults so I can get at the voltage section?
I have tried swapping around the dimms but they are all the same regardless so not a slot problem. Now of course, I don't see it as a RAM problem either unless I am the unluckiest person to keep getting bad sticks. So now I think maybe something on the board or CPU is causing damage to the RAM or at least causing it to mis-report. Could a fault in the memory controller be doing this and if so how can I test for this?
At my wit's end here. Hope someone has some ideas - either on how to access DDR Voltage in the BIOS or get to the cause of my problem.
    Many thanks.

OK thanks for explaining a bit more  .  This power unit did get some very good reviews in the sub $100 from many sites and from these I thought it would suit my needs. I have arranged to try a friend's 650w next week.
I think I am maybe not being clear.  I have had the system running OK for six months. I had had no need to test the ram and didn't bother with stability tests at that stage.  I am not a gamer and use my machine more for video and graphics work.  One thing I did notice from the start was the couple of games I do have on (Call of Duty and Fallout3) would give occasional freezes.  I put it down to my now rather old hot GPU which I would get around to replacing in due course.
Now the real problems started recently when I got round to replacing the stock cooler with a Titan Fenrir.  Trouble with this is it overhangs Dimm1 but in moving around the memory sticks I seem to have opened a real can of worms.  I could only get it to boot from one of the sticks.  This stick passed memtest but would crash out of prime95 and games would freeze within a couple of minutes.
Now, the retailers here in the UK told me to send back board, cpu and RAM.  They tested all 3 but they only replaced the memory and as you can see from my first post the memory related problems have continued.  The memory by the way is in Corsair's list as "100% tested compatibility".  Is it possible that something about the CPU/Board that is damaging the RAM?  If a stick is failing memtest (it failed another test too called Windiag) is that definitive?  It is bad for sure or board/cpu misreporting?  Am I right in thinking memtest86 does cannot distinguish faulty RAM from faulty memory controller?  Is there a test I can do to check if the CPU alone is faulty?
I don't know if this means anything to you guys but when I ran the prime95 (Blend) recently with both sticks in it failed straight away on 2 cores but went on running on the other 2.
One of my other frustrations is I don't know anyone else with am3 board or memory so swap things around.
Any suggestions for pinning this down would be much appreciated.  Just don't assume my knowledge is as great as yours  .  But I do learn.  I never knew v x a=w for example. And I now know how to change DDR Voltage in the BIOS - I had been expecting a sub-menu where Auto was greyed out and in fact it was just sitting there waiting for me to press + and -.  Very embarassing that I spent hours trying to change this when the instructions on what to do were right there in the help column!

    Hi,
My tempro tool says there is a new BIOS available for my Portege Z930.
    But the link gives nothing.
Can someone fix this ? Or have the correct link
    Thank you

+1 This is very frustrating. Tempro alerts are all very well but no use at all if Toshiba can't be bothered to maintain links!

  • How do you access bios at start up p875s7102

I want to test my USB recovery flash drive but can't access bios at start up can someone please help also how do you boot from the read only file on the hard drive on my old model you would push 0 and hold while powering up and the computer would return to the just out of the box state THANKS

How would I get into bios if I can't remember my password to get to the desktop though to start with? I am beyond annoyed with windows 8 and toshiba. Best Buy didn't give me a disk, instead there's a stupid card. If I had the disk, I could simply do a reinstall and change the password. Plus we pay for the operating system so this is not good, what they are doing at all now! Even if they gave a reset disk it would be helpful. But now they want to charge for that?
any way.. how do i get to the bios at bootup before reaching the desk top so that I can reinstall or "something".. must be able to in there!

  • Portege Z930: How to create GPRS / Wifi / LAN connection profiles?

    Hi !
I can't find any software (Toshiba or Intel) on my Portege Z930 that can manage
connections profiles to automatically be connected on GPRS or Wifi or LAN regardless to connections available (office, home, public area...)
Toshiba Wirelss manager runs with GPRS only and not wifi or lan
    Thanks for your help !

    Hi
Such universal utility is not known to me.
The Toshiba Wireless manager handles the 3G profiles.
For Wlan connectivity and profile management you could use the TOSHIBA Configfree
    Here a short details:

  • Portege R600 (PPR61E) - How to disable WLAN in BIOS?

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Portege R600, model number PPR61E with BIOS version 1.50. I want to be able to disable Wireless in the BIOS. This should be possible because the option exists on page 2 of the Bios screen under 'PCI LAN'. It is greyed out, however. I have tried enabling and disabling various options to try and get it to appear and the wireless switch is also enabled. It definately has a Wireless card in the Laptop because I can see wireless networks in windows.
I've also downloaded the latest BIOS from the Toshiba Website, version 1.80 but this does not work. It comes up with the error message, not compatible with this model of PC. I selected the correct model of machine and logged in with an account with local admin rights and ran the update from the machine.
Has anyone else had this problem? Help would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Martin Milner

The Wlan cannot be disabled in BIOS!
If you want you can disable the WLan card in device manager but not in the BIOS.
Furthermore youve got a Wlan switch at the notebooks side there you can enable and disable the WLan functionality!
