Portfast case ping transmit failed general failure

Hi
today i add a host in a vlan, but it can't ping itself and get  ping transmit failed general failure unless remove the spaning portfast command. i try difeerent vendor PC, IBX... ,HX..,DXl..., all host can't ping itself.
the reason is the portfast? but portfast isn't only fotr host pc,
the following is same our command about spaning.sorry for i can't past all command because our com private.
errdisable recovery cause udld
errdisable recovery cause bpduguard
errdisable recovery cause security-violation
errdisable recovery cause channel-misconfig
errdisable recovery cause pagp-flap
errdisable recovery cause dtp-flap
errdisable recovery cause link-flap
errdisable recovery cause gbic-invalid
errdisable recovery cause l2ptguard
errdisable recovery cause psecure-violation
errdisable recovery cause dhcp-rate-limit
errdisable recovery cause unicast-flood
errdisable recovery cause vmps
errdisable recovery cause storm-control
errdisable recovery cause arp-inspection
errdisable recovery interval 30
power redundancy-mode redundant
no file verify auto
spanning-tree mode pvst
spanning-tree loopguard default
spanning-tree portfast bpduguard default
spanning-tree extend system-id

what do you see under "show interface status" of the switch when the issue occurs?
do you see input/output rate on that interface when the issue occurs?
what is the spanning-tree state of that port?
when you say you get "ping transmit failed", are you getting that error when you try to ping the PC's IP address from the PC?
are you able to ping 127.0.0.1?
and, what does the PC's network connection say?

  • Ping: Transmit failed

    Been experiencing some connectivity issues on a 2008 r2 server, so started basic ping tests as first point.
    if i start a normal command prompt and try a ping, i get an error - Ping: transmit failed General failure
    If i start the command prompt with elevated privileges the ping works fine.
    If i try to use the diagnose function on the nic, i get an error that the "Diagnostics Policy Service is not running". If i try to start the service it gives an "access denied" message. This is a basic service using the local service
    account to start.
    This all seems to be pointing to an issue with the permissions on the server, only problem is, i'm not sure what could have gone wrong. We have not made any changes to the server for a while (so maybe something got corrupted in the registry) . how would
    we go about restoring default system rights?
    Any suggestions welcome

    first , you must check administrators or current user 's group membership and elevated privilage for current user
    then then run this command
    ipconfig /flushdns
    nbtstat -R
    nbtstat -RR
    netsh int reset all
    netsh int ip reset
    netsh winsock reset
    and for the "Diagnostic Policy Service" service, the issue may occur when the account Trustedinstaller
    is missing the permissions for the key below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS\Parameters
    permission needed: Full Control, Read

  • Ping drop and general Failure on wireless

    Hi all,
    I am facing the ping drop and general failure error when I am connected to AP and try to do ping any IP with the ping size is 5500 bytes.Print screen shot is attached for your reference.
    Product/Model Number                 : AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9
    Regards
    Ali Raza

    yes that is what I mean. And you cannot figure out if this is happening or not. Don't rely on the wireless connection icon on windows.
    It can be possible that your wireless adapters notices that the RF is busy and there were a few packet drops so it reconnects quickly. It's usually transparent to applications but if you are running a ping at that time ...
    In any case, conclusion is : check your RF environment. How many APs around ? a lot of traffic ?

    1. system with ancient patches
    2. system with no patches
    .. so i think its a good idea to start by verifying that you are up-to-date on patches. And verify that relevant processes are running..

  • Ping and Tracert return General Failure

    My PC resolves the hostname to the correct IP but my ping and tracert return error "General Failure." (and tracert immediately gives the error, indicating an issue with my machine).
    I tried using a fix that I found through google, the command 'netsh winsock reset' but that was to no avail. I almost thought it worked as I could access the site after the restart, but this was while my applications were still loading. I refresh the page
    and I get the Firefox cannot connect error.
    This leads me to believe there may be some kind of fault on my configuration somewhere but I have no anti-virus nor firewall application running though I have however used Spybot's Search and Destroy immunizer tool, which includes modification to my HOSTS
    file. Other than that I don't believe I have any application that could be causing an issue with site access.
    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with SP1.

    Hi,
    Firstly, please let me know which destination you tried to ping and tracert? Can you access this website using the IP address?
    Meanwhile, please try the following to test the issue:
    1. Register DNS via command on Windows 7:
        ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /registerdns
    2.
    Reset hosts file
    3. Test the issue in
    Clean Boot mode to check whether this is a third party tool issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • General failure -the browser fails to perform especially after computer has been left switched on for a while.

    After the computer has been switched on for a while and I try to access the internet - it fails to do so and the message I get is : -General Failure - followed up by the specific address/site which it cannot open. This is happening with increasing frequency especially when I try to open email links etc. I then switch off the computer and after a few minutes or even half and hour, i reboot and it then becomes possible to open whatever was not possible before. This is quite irritating however.

    Thank you for the suggestion and having tried it with other browsers, I can now confirm that it only happens with FF. I like FF a lot and hate to bother with other browsers but it I have to, I will most reluctantly abandon it.
    By the way, having downloaded 36 of your recommended ADD-ONS, I had to get rid of them(uninstall). They not only cluttered up the start-up page but noticeably slowed down the computer. ( I left about half a dozen). Moreover, what is the point of them unless there is an icon or a button that I can click on for instant access to an ADD_ON. Instead I had to search hard to access the ones that I wanted and even then was unable to engage them. For example, I download clocks and a currency converter but was unable to use them.

  • License Error: License server general failure

    Hi All,
    I have a very strange problem on my computer. Since this morning I cannot open SBO as I get the error License Error : 100000000 License Server General Failure. I have uninstalled the full SBO including deleted all my SBO databases and the SBO-COMMON database. I then deleted my SAP folder in Program Files, restarted my PC and reinstalled SBO... still the same error. Error is just after I click OK on the login window. License Manager seems to be working fine and license also loaded fine.
    Also just wanted to say that my license did not expire (or I don't think so) as I checked my file license text file and it looks like Compatibility License for Add-ons expires 20080115 and the rest of the users 99991231.
    Any help appreciated!

    Adele, just try to load once again your license file
    What i have done is cut a little my license file, check 'Write to log' option, and tried to load this damaged file.

  • General Failure - Running DBASE App from Netware on Windows

    Hi all,
    Our company database is coded in DBASE 5 and is hosted on Novell Netware 6.5 servers.
    Our users have always used MS DOS PC's with the novell client to run the application but recently we have began testing the application running under windows XP CMD prompt after connecting using Novell Client.
    For the most part everything works however we are experiancing a problem on XP that doesn't exist when run on the MS DOS PC's.
    Basically when the app tries to run the DBASE USE / FILE commands on a file that the user doesn't have access too a general failure (CANCEL, IGNORE, RETRY) is shown. Strangely if the user hits CANCEL / IGNORE the correct result is returned e.g. FILE returns .F.
    The above problem doesn't occur on MS DOS!
    After testing it seems that the windows PC somehow 'knows' the file is there and tries to access it and then fails - could this be the case?
    Other windows commands such as DIR / MOVE etc return "A device attached to the system is not functioning"
    Any ideas on any settings we can change to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks
    Robbie

    The reason why you cannot access it is because another client has opened
    it and has exclusive access to it. In the old days you had to flag such
    files as "shareable" with the flag command, but I have not had to use that
    for decades..

    I moved the setup to production and I started to get the failures. I verified and re-verified the setup. It is same as in test. I deleted and re-did the setup. However, still failing. As can be seen from the message below the matching private key is found but the encryption/signature does not happen. Again this is outbound message from host to TP. Appreciate any help.

    But I am not able to sing the same message using same certificates.
    (I don’t have any issue with Host certificate, I can use it for host sing but I have issue with Trading Partner certificate)

    Hi Anuj,
    Thanks for your good reply.
    I was doing same thing which you mentioned (Thats the reason encryption is working with same certificates, so there is no issue with wallet and certificates).
    in my log (debug mode) I did find some thing is interesting
    From the log,
    <MSG_TEXT>oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.packaging.SmimeSecureMessaging:SmimeSecureMessaging: sign alternateWrl: /oraaiad/B2BHome/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.wlt/default/wallet1</MSG_TEXT>
    Log is looking for alternateWrl "/*default/wallet1*"
    But my wallet location which I mentioned in tip.props /oraaiad/B2BHome/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.wlt/*default/wallet.txt*
    I know there is no location called "*wallet1*" thats the reason why it's throwing null pointer. But my questions is, why it's looking for alternateWrl? Here some of debug log.

  • General Failure on Sign-On

    I get the error message 'General Failure' when I try to get the Connection Context from the UI 6.5 using Delphi 6.
    // Acquire the connection context cookie from the DI API.
    Cookie := vCmp.GetContextCookie;   '
    Memo1.Lines.Add(SBO_Connection.Company.DatabaseName);     // works fine
    //Retrieve the connection context string from the UI API using the acquired cookie.
    conStr:=SBO_Connection.Company.GetConnectionContext(Cookie);
    This call fails.
    Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi Lita,
    Thanks very much for your tip.
    Now the Sign-On works fine.

  • General failure with CFL

    Hello,
    I have added a ChooseFromList in a matrix.
    My CFL works well, but when I click on "select" to display the value in the matrix, I have a message saying "General Failure".
    Aother problem is when I click on "Cancel" (in the CFL form) I have a message "Object reference not defined to an object instance".

            End If
    Do you know what my problem is ?
    Thanks
    Thibault

    Here a sample (In C#)
    if(pVal.ItemUID=="BOY_1" && pVal.EventType == BoEventTypes.et_CHOOSE_FROM_LIST) {
      ChooseFromListEvent cflEvent = (ChooseFromListEvent)pVal;
      string cflUID = cflEvent.ChooseFromListUID;
      if(!pVal.BeforeAction) {
        DataTable dt = cflEvent.SelectedObjects;
        if(dt!=null && dt.Columns.Count!=0 && dt.Rows.Count!=0) {
          string val = dt.GetValue("ItemCode",0).ToString();
          eventForm.DataSources.UserDataSources.Item("BOY_UDS1").ValueEx = val;
    Also remember that you need alphanumeric datasources (CFL doens not work with not alpha types)

  • Email General Failure

    Hi.
    I have two personal email accounts feeding my Blackberry. One is a hotmail account and the other is gmail. They both worked fine up until yesterday, but then the hotmail one started to fail.
    Whenever I try to send an email with this account I get a red x and it says general failure. I can still recive messages, just not reply or send new messages to anyone with this account.
    My gmail account is still working completely normally. I have not made any changes to my phone except for an upgrade of the twitter app. Also I've tried taking out the battery and sim card out and rebooting.
    Any help would be appraciated.

    Hi there!
    I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
    KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
    KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
    KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.
