Portfolio to single pdf with attachments

I am trying to combine a portfolio pdf (that contains 1500 pages of emails plus attachments) into ONE single pdf in chronological order of the emails.  I can sort it in chronological order in the portfolio.  However when I "combine files into a single PDF" it will only sort the files in alpha order according to the file name.  HELP!

Open each Portfolio attached file.  Save each so that you have individual files. Use Acrobat to combine the files. Use the Pages panel to manually reposition pages as desired or hire a developer to create a script to do this.
Basically you "cann't get there from here" with your Portfolio. Portfolio PDFs are PDFs with a special UI that uses Flash. All the other files are simply attached.

  • Merge files in Portfolio into single PDF, preserving order

Hello, I am using Acrobat X.
I have ordered a large number of files in a PDF portfolio into a desired sequence.
Now, to make it easy to print the collection, I would like to merge them into a single PDF. When I use Create>Combine Files into a Single PDF, my sort order is ignored and the files are combined in an alphatebical sort by file name. Now I could repeat the entire process of manual sorting that I undertook in forming the Portfolio in the Combine Files list, but that will be take up a lot of time and doesn't seem like the smart way to do it.
Can someone suggest how to do this merge the way I want it, automatically?

I've developed a tool that might help you solve this problem.

  • Convert portfolio to single pdf file

Hi, I have a portfolio of my email archive which I want to convert to a single pdf file. The way I'm doing it is by combining files and adding the portfolio file and then clicking combine, merge files into a single pdf, adding the portfolio and selecting single pdf file. This 'breaks up' the portfolio into its individual constituents which you can then combing into a single normal pdf file.
But there is a problem. In the portfolio the original date of the email is retained so you can sort the emails chronologically. However, when the portfolio is broken up the individual files are dated on the date the portfolio is created and so the new file is not sorted in the chronological send/receive order of the emails.
So my question is: how do I combine emails to a single pdf file in the chronological order of the emails?
    Many thanks
Ps Since typing this message I've noticed that when printing all files in the portfolio it also doesn't print it in chronological order even though that's how they're sorted in the portfolio.

    Something to try —
View the open Portfolio in the List or Basic Grid view.
    Select all the files.
Select File > Sae Files from Portfolio > Use the Browse For Folder dialog to select a destination.
    Click OK.
A copy of the Portfolio's files will be in the designated location.
Perform the Combine > Merge Files into a Single PDF action.
    Be well..

  • Creating pdfs from different file types (.doc,.xls etc) and merging them into a single pdf with book

    Hi,
I need to create a pdf from 2 different file formats, for example .doc and .xls file and merge the contents of the two files into a single pdf. Also the final pdf created must contain bookmarks and links. Thanks in advance.

You can do this on the desktop using the Acrobat SDK as a custom plugin.
You can do this on a server with Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.

  • Assemble PDF with attachments

Hi All,<br /><br />I am planning to assemble a PDF document with attachments. Or as I see my requirement is to create a PDF and attach various files to it. The PDF would then be sent as an attachment to an email.<br /><br />The user should be able to open the emailed PDF and save the image/application attachments seperately.<br /><br />To achieve this I had generated the sample DDX and tried it in a process, but no luck.<br /><br />All the source objects are avaialble int he assembler map object of documents with the correct key value.<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><br /><DDX xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/DDX/1.0/"><br /><PDF result="pdf2image_res.pdf"><br /><PDF source="pdf2image_res.pdf"><br /> <FileAttachments source="image-1.jpg" nameKey="image-1.jpg"><br />  <File filename="image-1.jpg"/><br /> </FileAttachments><br /> <FileAttachments source="image-2.jpg" nameKey="image-2.jpg"><br />  <File filename="image-2.jpg"/><br /> </FileAttachments><br /></PDF><br /></PDF><br /></DDX><br /><br />Then I extract the generated pdf in a document like '/process_data/docAssemblerMap[@id='pdf2image_res.pdf']'<br /><br />The generated PDF does not have the attachments embedded in it.<br /><br />Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried it with your ddx (with minor modification)and it worked fine.
I would try to use the Record and Play back to make sure all the components of your map are set properly.

  • Convert Multiple Outlook Emails to Multiple PDF Files (Not Portfolio or Single PDF) for Archiving?

Hi all, I am learning how to convert emails to PDF files and there is some great functionality there!!  I have not discovered how to convert multiple outlook emails into multiple PDF files (one PDF file for each email) - all at the same time (not one at a time)!!  Is there a way to do this using Acrobat X??  The purpose of this is for long-term business archiving.  When I search for an email in the archive, I do not want to pull up a portfolio containing 1000 emails or a 1000 page PDF file with multiple emails run together!!!  I want to pull up individual emails containing my search terms.  I have been searching for a way to archive emails and MS OUTLOOK .PST files are NOT the answer.  I get a lot of business emails with large attachments and I do not file my emails in separate sub-folders (by client or job).  I want to convert multiple emails (by date range) from my UNIVERSAL INBOX into multiple PDF files for long term storage (with each email being converted into its own, separate PDF file and named with the same name as the "Re: line" of the email).  This has been a HUGE problem for me....and Acrobat is sooooo close to the solution for me.  Can anyone help??  If so, will attachments be converted?  If not, is there a separate software program or add-in that I can buy that will do this??  I use MS Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Windows 7 64 BIT.  Thanks for your help!!

I am a retired person and did'nt realize I already have a Adobe account, so you can scrap the entire information. Thanks for the trial anyway and have a great week.

  • Flatten PDF with Attachments

    Hi,
    I,
    1. render a xdp in browser (via servlet)
    2. fill out the form, attach some files
    3. submit the form as PDF (via servlet)
    4. launch a process that flattens the PDF file
the flattened PDF doesn't include attachments no more, it was lost durning the Output/transform Qpac. (if I don't apply the flattening, I am able to see the attachments)
How do I keep attachments in flattened pdf?
    Thanks in advance.

You can achieve this with help of assembler service (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/Services/WS92d06802c76abadb712193f912dbeb3c6db- 8000.html)
This link will help you in creating a DDX to do the same (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/ddxRef.pdf)

  • Combine Files into a Single PDF with Same File Name

I have one PDF form that I have to fill in some data and a Microsoft  Word Document.   Sometimes I wait a few days so I need to complete the same PDF form.  When I combine them, I get warning that PDF forms with the same name will be the same - if I do not want this, I should create a PDF portfolio.  The portfolio does not see like I want.  It combines the PDFs into some else.
I could change the names of the fields that I need, but I am sometimes afraid that I missed something.
Is there a way to get away with this issue so the combination is good?  I have to fax the documents in once created and the portfolio does not seem like I can do that.
Adobe Acobat XI Pro and Windows 8.1
    Thank you!
    Corey

So I think I found it - you go to File - Save As Other - Discard and then check Flatten form fields.  The fields can be changed (but that is fine, I am faxing the pages).
So I guess I am trying to verify, is this the correct way?
I ask because I found Eight Free Acrobat XI Actions for Legal Pros that leads me to down a .sequ file extension.
If the first one is correct, and I have a PDF page that needs to be used twice in the combination, this will work?  And that data field (say 9ROW OF SERVICE) the first page can have 01/22/2014 and the second will have 01/23/2014?  I just want to make sure because before when I reviewed the Binder, if I entered 01/23/2014, then the other PDF page has the incorrect date of 01/23/2014 instead of 01/22/2014.  I ask this as well because sometimes I might have to change the date or something else in a field with the same field name, and that other PDF file will update.
    Thank you!

  • Email Conversions to PDF With Attachments

It has been a while since I checked on this, but has Adobe found a way to fix the email with attachment conversion "problem"?  What I want and need is when I convert an email from Outlook to an Adobe PDF, I want the attachments to convert as well.  So the finished product would look like email on a page, then the pages behind that email are whatever was attached to the email.
Yes, I know that when it converts the attachments are connected to the PDF via the Paperclip on the bottom left side of the page.  This would be incredibly useful in the legal field.
    I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

let me rephrase that.. if I send to one email it keeps the security. but when I
send to more than one person it doesn't keep the security.

  • PDFs with attachments imbedded

A really great feature of imbedding an attachment inside a pdf is the ease with which a user can switch between the attachment and the pdf. On the Android reader the attachments are available for review but the hyperlink that Adobe creates through the paperclip icon on the pdf does not work.
Does this feature work in any version of reader for iOS?

Thanks for looking into this. One more suggestion prompted by this other topic that came up today: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1117825
I've requested before that the buttonImportIcon JavaScript method be supported so that a user can select an image from the camera roll (as a competitor does), but if that's not going to happen (or even if it does), allowing a user to attach an image from the camera roll as either type of attachment would be nice. People ask about this sort of thing often, and since cameras are integrated with virtually all mobile devices, this would be a great feature.

  • How to manage the size of PDFs with attachments that have attachments

I have a "Master" PDF file that has two attached files, one for each path the user can take. The attached documents for the two paths have multiple files attached to them. Those files are the same in both documents, but must be accessed from the "path" files. The result is that I have a HUGE file. Is there a way to let the two attached files share the same attached documents so that they are attached to the master only once, not twice? Or is there another way I can control the size of the "master" file?
    Thanks so much.

PDF attachments gets saved within the PDF and become a part of it and cannot be used as relative file path further, however you can create links and assign common files to them.

  • Combining filled forms into a single PDF

    Hello-
I'm having some trouble combining some documents. I have a source PDF file, 'Service Form', that I use to fill out and save as a separate form by customer. For instance, I open 'Service Form', fill it in and save it as 'Customer A' form when completed.
Now, if I try to combine 'Customer A' form and 'Customer B' form in to a single PDF, 'Customer B' form gets populated with 'Customer A''s data. In other words, I have two 'Customer A' forms. I have tried many different ways to save and combine them but nothing works.
I don't want to create a PDF Package, I want a single PDF with multiple instances of 'Customer' forms.
Anyway, I'm sure this is clear as mud. Any feedback is appreciated.

You can flatten a file using the flattenPages() JavaScript method. The advantage to flattening is you can use JavaScript in a batch process to automate the process of flattening a large number of files.
As a test to see how it works, you can open a copy of one of the forms in Acrobat, activate the JavaScript console (Advanced > JavaScript > Debugger), and enter the following in the code window:
    flattenPages()
and hit CTRL+Enter (with the cursor on the same line as the code)
and save the resulting modified PDF.

    Thanks for the response.
I have checked though the Word documents that were used in the most recent merge. They don't have any spaces at these areas or strange formatting. I turned on the Show/Hide option to confirm if there was anything odd but I could not see anything. The formatting (Ctrl+D) shows the default font Arial, Regular, font 12.
The interesting thing is that if it occurs and attempt another file merge the gaps are no longer there. Which makes me think this is unlikely to be the documents and formatting being used and more likely to be a bug in Adobe Acrobat.

  • Gaps inbetween letters of full words when Merging files to single PDF (Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard)

I've raised a Bug Report although it says that I may not be contacted so thought someone else might have encountered this issue and hopefully knows what causes it and how to fix. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Heres a copy of the Bug Report details...
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
An intermitent issue is occuring when merging multiple files into a single PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard, the resulting PDF file has gaps inbetween the letters of actual words. For example the word "document" may appear in part of the PDF as "doc ument". This seems to affect various parts of the final PDF file.
Setup: Windows XP SP2, Adobe Acrobat 9.0, Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003
    Steps to reproduce bug:
I am currently unable to replicate the issue on demand but this has happened three times since installing Adobe Acrobat 9.0 a month ago. The most recent occurance happened when merging 6 Microsoft Word Documents. It is a real problem due to the fact that every PDF created needs to be carefully checked and in some cases these PDFs have hundreds of pages.
    The steps used are:
    1) Open Adobe Acrobat 9.0
    2) Click File
    3) Combine
    4) Merge Files into a single PDF
    5) Add Files (select the required files)
