Portfolios in Acrobat X

Is it possible in Acrobat X to have the same disposition as it was  in Acrobat 9 pro ?. Double-click in file open a previewer only for Pdf file and going to View->Portfolio-> preview is a quite boring operation;

This is the new preview functionality of Acrobat X. However, you can bypass the double click step and simply select the file in the layout and access the view menu (View > Portfolio > Preview File). If you are in Files view a double click will open the file type in the native application, so PDFs would open in a window separate from the portfolio.

  • For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Read

    Hi,
For the first time I am aware of a user has received a PDF that cannot be opened in Preview.
The pdf opens to a splash screen showing, "For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later." There is a large button showing " Get Adobe Reader 9"
It is a 15Mb document but we cannot get beyond the splash screen in Preview so I have had to install Reader 9 for the user.
Turns out the document is a very basic slideshow. It seems this is a new (to me) format of PDF which forces users to install Reader.
Is there any way these image portfolios can be opened within Preview so I don't have to install Adobe Reader bloatware again?
    Thanks,
    b .

I doubt it, but perhaps others have better info...
You can ask Apple to expand Preview's capabilities here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Personally I have never found Preview to be a complete substitute for Adobe Reader and always have both on my machine to deal with pdfs, which have a large number of possible variations in terms of version, features, and encodings.

  • Add a watermark to multiple files within a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro?

Can I add a watermark to multiple files within a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro? If so, how?  It appears as though it is a removed option.

I've figured this out. (kind of) not using PDF Portfolio; where you could apply watermark to multiple files in Acrobat 9.
I'm answering my own question in case there are others looking to add a watermark to multiple files.
Step 1: Open a single file
    Step 2: Tools>Pages>Watermark>Add Watermark
Step 3: In bottom of Watermark Edit Box, Select "Apply to Multiple"
    Step 4: Select "Add Files
    etc etc.

  • PDF portfolios in Acrobat X Pro - being viewed on the new XI reader version

    Hi
We currently produce PDF portfolios in Acrobat X Pro - Can these be viewed on the new XI version without problems?
I have heard from other people, that they experience issues - has anyone heard/seen this?
    Thanks

    Hi Chris.Parry,
Portfolios created in Acrobat X Pro can definitely be viewed in version XI.
If you've heard of issues between versions, it is probably regarding people trying to edit/update portfolios created in version 9. Portfolios created in version 9 are different than those in X and XI.
Please see this page regarding A11 compatibility with Acrobat 9 Portfolios:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/overview-pdf-portfolios.html#overview_of_pdf_portfol ios
    and specifically this section:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/overview-pdf-portfolios.html#pdf_portfolios_created_ in_acrobat_9_acrobat_pro
That said, testing is always a good idea. :-)

    Charlene

  • I can't see how to edit PDF inside Portfolio for Acrobat X. In Acrobat 9 Pro

I can't see how to edit PDF inside Portfolio for Acrobat X. I can do this in Acrobat 9 Pro with the Document pull down menu. Did they take this away in Acrobat X?

Whether it's maxed or not doesn't make any difference.
The bottom part of the image/scroll bar is always under the Windows taskbar any time the URL is opened.
It is always fixed by doing something, either switching to and back from another window, or turning on and off one or more toolbars.
That shouldn't be necessary. The bottom part should be visible when the URL is opened.

  • Installing complimentary PDF Portfolio into Acrobat XI Standard?

I can download the complimentary PDF Portfolio and extract it from the zip, but when I open Acrobat, there are no instructions to follow (as the download page says there will be). And it isn't showing on the create menu. Ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi GooseG25
Acrobat XI Standard doesn't have portfolio feature , it is available in Pro only.

  • Customise the Portfolio Colours (Acrobat 9 Pro)

We are using a portfolio as a legal casebook. The Home view shows the list of files in the portfolio, with a preview of the currently selected file.
My question is, can we configure the colours of the user interface? The file list fill colour is currently a darkish grey, with the selected row in a greenish brown, and the headings in dark grey (white lettering). Could we change these colours to, say, white, light blue and dark blue?
I don't see any way to do this at present, so I'll suggest this as a new feature.
    Regards,
    Sue.

    Simple answer, no.
In Acrobat 9 the ability to change colors of PDF Portfolio layouts was very limited, this has been addressed in Acrobat X with the introduction of themes. However the layout only affects the animated navigator, not the other elements of the user interface. The 'details' table, toolbars, etc. cannot be skinned.

  • Files combined as a portfolio in Acrobat Pro corrupted when I send them

I have had an issue with combining files into a portfolio that has to include plans created in ArchiCAD which I have exported in Pdf form. When I combine these Pdf plans with others in Acrobat XI Pro, they look fine, but as soon as I send the file, it gets corrupted and the writing on my plans becomes completely blurry ! I have had a message flash up on my computer about there being a bug on Adobe Acrobat...but it hasn't appeared since. Anyone know what I can do here ?

    Hi there,
Thankyou for your suggestion and excuse me for the delay in replying
I am now downloading update to Acrobat 11.0.10 as you suggest.
Could you possibly explain exactly what you mean by the fonts being
embedded ? Is that something I would do in ArchiCad before I export my
plans to PDF, or is that something I would do AFTER exporting into PDF form
and BEFORE I combine with other PDFs into a portfolio in Adobe Acrobat ?
    Kind regards
    Lizzie

  • I am creating portfolios in Acrobat Pro Extended

I am having trouble with people seeing the same thing with a 9.3 Reader. Most see my portfolios just fine, but some are seeing it with headers cut off, text on different lines on header pages and scroll bars where I have none? Any suggestions on what could be causing this problem? I am baffled by it.

Really. Have to say that's kind of irritating.
Not really sure what Adobe is trying to accomplish with that. I have Acrobat Pro, all my clients have Reader... what's the big deal? Why 500? why not 600 or 510?
There are too many rules to keep up with... I'm moving to Canada. They are less strict up there... lol.
Thanks for the heads up. It'll be years before I reach the 500 uses. Maybe by then Adobe won't care.

  • How do I create a welcome page for PDF portfolio in Acrobat X?

When making portfolios in v9 i was able to add a welcome page to my PDF portfolio. However, since I upgraded I am no longer able to locate this fucntion. Does it still exist and if so how do i access it? If it doesn't exist can anyone explain to me why Adobe would think it wasn't a relevant feature and disable it in vX?

You need to setup a script to handle this for you.  Typically most people do this with a solution like CPanels Web Host Manager.  But it depends on your server environment what you would use.

  • Acrobat X importer modèles portfolio d'Acrobat 9

    Bonjour,

  • Unnecessary Acrobat 9 Warning in PDF Portfolio

When I open a PDF Portfolio using Acrobat 9 Professional, I get a screen advising "For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in
Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later."
This is both unnecessary and confusing. Is this standard behavior, and if so is there some way to prevent it?

    fwiw,
The ability to upload a file attachment to any of the Adobe Forums has been "off" for some time.
An easy alternative is to open a free acrobat.com account. Upload a copy of the problem Portfolio to it.
Use the share feature to provide a link that lets anyone participating here download the file for a look-see.
Easy, free, and may result in resolution(s).
    Be well...

  • Opening a .pdf in a Portfolio causes pop up "For best experienc use Acrobat 9 or Reader 9 or later."

I created a portfolio. In it is a converted Word doc .pdf with links to two other .pdf's that are inside the same portfolio.  The other two .pdf's open normally when clicked on.  The one with the links gives me a pop up message when the icon is clicked that is supposed to open one of the other .pdf's.
"For best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later."  It shows as a cover sheet in the upper left hand corner.  What is causing this and how do I turn that off so it opens the linked .pdf's normally?

Well, that's not my intention anyway unless I inadvertantly did something else by accident.  My goal is:
Take a .docx with two pdf's embedded and convert it to a .pdf
Create a portfolio with the first .pdf in it and two other .pdf's in it as well.
Link the two icons in the first pdf to the the two other pdf's in the portfolio
This is so the user can open the first one and then only click on the icon to open the other pdf it's linked to. This is for part number control purposes so it must be this way. One part number = one pdf, the other part number = the other pdf.
I would be willing to email my original files to someone and have them try putting them together.  It's not really confidential information, just not something I would want out on the web either though. I appreciate your patience with me on this.  I've done it in the past but I have a new PC with W7 and fresh install of Acrobat 9 so I can't figure out what is different or why it's behaving this way.  Also, now I can't reply to this thread with IE10 and had to switch over to Chrome to add this.

  • Acrobat 9 PDF Portfolio - setting size of swf content area

    Hi,
I added a swf file to a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and it works fine when the portfolio is opened in Reader 9, except that the swf content area is small. I want it to occupy the entire page. How/Where do I set this?
    Thanks
    Vijay

I've got this same problem. I add a SWF that's got a width and height of 792x612px. After using the Multimedia->Insert Flash tool the movie is resized to 320x240px and doesn't look right.
Does anyone have any wisdom or insights that can help me understand what I'm missing? I'd love to solve this problem and there doesn't seem to be a lot of info related to this functionality online.
    Thanks,
    Scott
