Porting a Verizon number from a family plan to a different carrier

Hello everyone,
Basically, I have a line with Verizon under a family plan, I am not the owner of that plan, but I am looking to port my number to T-mobile since I don't think that the price-service ratio is not fair for the mediocre service that I get.
I was wondering if I would be able to port my number even if I am not the owner of the family plan. I only have a few months left until the contract terminates, and I am willing to pay the ETF.
I also wanted to know if the owner would have to be involved during the porting process, since I would not like to bother the plan owner to complete this action.
Lastly, my billing cycle ends the 26th of each month, when do you think I should start the process in order to not pay the bill for the following month?

Transfering existing number to existing family plan

I have my own personal Verizon account and my family said they would add me to their AT&T family plan when I got an iPhone.
I want to transfer my verizon number to the iPhone, which I know is possibel through itunes.
But does the online iTunes activation allow for you to transfer an existing number with Verizon to an existing AT&T account?
I hope so, as the family member with the AT&T account lives in another state. So hopefully it doesn't involve anyone having to physically go into the store.
But if it does require a visit to an AT&T store, do they need the actually iPhone with them? Hopefully not, as I'd have the actual phone being activated.

Be advised that ATT may not let you add an out of state number to a family plan in another state. For example, if you have a NY number and you are trying to add the number to an account that is based in Atlanta, ATT will not let you do that because, according to them the markets are different.
To be on the safe side, you can call and inquire but I'm pretty sure they will tell you the same thing.

You can't cancel service on-line; you'll need to either call Customer Service or visit your local Corporate Verizon store.

Verizon Messenger Web App - Family Plan

When I log into the web app, it keeps defaulting to the primary phone number on our account. I want to use the web app with a different phone number on our family plan, is this possible?

Each line on your account can (and should) have it'[s own login and password to My Verizon, allowing each line separate access for Messaging, ringtones and ringback purchases, backup , etc.
Log out of the account, and clear your browser cache/cookies. Or use a different browser entirely. Go to verizonwireless.com, and REGISTER each of the numbers on your account, using the number and a uername and password unique to that number.
You should now be able to set up Messaging for each number.

Change from one family plan to another?

An ex-girlfriend who is on our family plan has been great about paying her portion of the bill is now thinking about moving out of state. If the people she is moving in with have Verizon can she switch family plans to theirs without penalty?

Simple answer is yes, You will have to agree for her to leave and that family needs to agree to add her. If they do not, she would have to get her own individual plan

How to port a number from a Family Share plan?

This is my situation. I am the Account Owner on a Family Share plan with 2 lines. My husband is an Account Manager. I know I need to do an Assumption of Liability to make my husband the Account Owner and he will be able to keep his number and change his plan. Can I do this and keep my number and not affect my husbands service with Verizon? We have had our numbers for years and do not want to lose them. Nope makes no difference. He will tell Verizon Wireless he wants the account and the will pay the monthly charges. You then tell Verizon its OK to give the account and line etc. to him.
In certain cases when the run the credit check on the other person there may be a deposit required to have that service transferred.

How to move from one family plan to another within Verizon?

My son currently is part of one family plan we have which is for non-smart phones. It is a really old plan and a really old phone. I also have another family plan (share everything) for my Galaxy S3 (no other people on that share everything plan yet). Here is what I want to do:
1) get him a new Galaxy S4 through Amazon
2) put him on my share everything plan (share my data, and pay $40/mo for phone service)
3) but keep his existing number.
Is that possible? It does not seem possible using the Amazon online system. When I try to add another line of service on my Share Everything plan and port his number, it says not possible to port from Verizon to Verizon. Do I have to leave Verizon and go to ATT in order to port numbers?

You will probably have to call customer service and get their help transferring the line between the two accounts. Are both accounts listing you as the account owner?
If they have two different account owners you will probably have to do an Assumption of Liability instead.

How to delete an unused line from a family plan.

Hi, I'm just wondering which number I would need to call to delete a line from my plan. I had a family plan with a total of four lines on it. I am the account holder, and two of the lines were removed onto their own plan today. That leaves me and my brother as the only two lines on the family plan. I want to cancel his line (his contract is already up and he apparently lost his phone months ago and doesn't care to replace it) and start a plan by myself. Cancelling a line has to be done in person or on the phone with customer service. If you call the 800-922-0204 number, choose option 4 and then say "Agent" when prompted. You should be connected to a live person in a couple of minutes.
Or you can visit a Verizon store.... they will, of course, try to talk you out of it, but just be firm. You will likely have to change your plan from a shared to an individual plan, since you will be the only line left.

Using upgrade from another family plan

My family has 2 family plans. 1 with 4 phones and 1 with 3 phones. All under same account person. Although, 2 seperate bills. Question, can i use a upgrade from one of the numbers on the plan that I am NOT on?

Probably not directly. The easiest way would be to just upgrade that line normally with your choice of phone, and then activate it on the line that used the upgrade briefly. After that, they have accepted the new contract and can swap back to their old phone, freeing the new device to be activated on any Verizon line.

Deleting lines from the family plan

Hi,
I have a family plan on my name with 5 lines on it. One of the phones is IPhone and the other ones are simple call&text phones.
If I want to get rid of one of the lines, what are fees for that? I cant find it online anywhere. When I visited store the Verizon stuff were very obscure in information about canceling plans and lines, so I did not get precise info.

Transferring phone number from an ATT plan that is not under your name

Currently my phone is being paid for under a family plan with AT&T. Would it be possible to transfer the number that I am using under this plan before the contract is up and put it on an iPhone with me being the sole owner of the contract and no longer under the family plan?

Good questions for AT&T customer service which you should call to confirm any information provided here.
You should be able to transfer this number to a new account that you acquire under your name for the iPhone along with a new 2 year contract for the iPhone but if this Family Plan is not under your name, I'm fairly certain the person who is responsible for this Family account must be involved with the process.

Have each of the account owners contact Verizon to let them know that you will be doing an AOL on your lines. Then you call Verizon and explain what you want to do. Just that easy. But understand you'll have to get the new Share everything plan.
