Porting *.war files and *.ear files to Weblogic 10.3
If we can figure this issue out, I'll see if I can't publish/post a
maven-based solution in the Maven and Oracle forums so that others
will not have to go through our pain.
We are having all the usual problems regarding where Weblogic expects
to find things and what exclusions need to be made in weblogic.xml for
war files and weblogic-application.xml for ear files. Any insights
would be deeply appreciated.
Here is what our exploded war structure currently looks like.

at com.opensymphony.xwork2.util.finder.ClassFinder.readClassDef(ClassFinder.java:745)
at com.opensymphony.xwork2.util.finder.ClassFinder.<init>(ClassFinder.java:148)
The exception above repeats for every .class file found below
WEB-INF/classes/com, i.e. the the ones in this module rather than the
ones in included modules.
Checking the file system shows that there is no such directory as
"appmergegen_1254502686535_conap". I'm uncertain if there is actually
supposed to be anything there, but it would seem like it.
I've a theory that if we can solve the above issue, we can solve the
rest ourselves.
It would also be handy to know what packages may cause conflicts.
Alright, my research points to the idea that this might have something to do with staging. Since this is a dev setup we don't have any managed servers or anything. All we have is AdminServer and that is it. We have only one domain and it is "base_domain". Does anyone know if this is wrong?

Difference between .war file and .ear file
Hi,
what is the difference between .war file and .ear file ?
Please let me know with appropriate explanation.War file means web application archive. It is archived file having a collection of JSP, servlets and static pages that together costitute a web application. It contains one WEB-INF directory which will have a file named web.xml which defines the structure of the web application.
On the other side EAR file is Enterprise application archive. It is file having packaged content of one or more modules into a single archive so that the deployment of all the modules can be done simultaneously on the application server. It also contains XML files called deployment descriptors which gives the details of the deployment method. This deployment descriptor will be present in the folder META-INF folder.
So the main difference betwwen the two is that Ear file is having collection of various modules to be deployed on the application server while the WAR file is used to deploy the web applications. -

How do I convert an war file to ear file, deploying weblogic apps
Problem Description: I have a war file from a legacy application that needs to be migrated to weblogic. To migrate this application to weblogic, we need a ear file. Reading weblogic doc. it says we needs to use ant utility on an exploded web content application folder/ directory to create the ear file. I need to covert the existing war file to ear file , if it is doable or create one from the scratch. I need to know how to do that in weblogic. Please let me know if you have any hints .
ThanksHI,
Please try the following to convert your WAR file into an EAR exploded archieve:
*1).* Create a Directory in your file system.
Example:
/home/apps/MyFirstEAR
*2).* Place the WAR file inside the above Directory. (Suppose your WAR file name is test.war)
Example:
/home/apps/MyFirstEAR/test.war
*3).* Now create a "META-INF" directory inside "/home/apps/MyFirstEAR" directory
*4).* Now create an "application.xml" file like following inside "/home/apps/MyFirstEAR/META-INF" directory:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.4">
<description>Test EAR Example</description>
<display-name>TestEAR Example</display-name>
<module>
<web>
<web-uri>test.war</web-uri>
<context-root>test</context-root>
</web>
</module>
</application>
*5).* Your EAR is ready now you can deploy the "MyFirstEAR" directory in the WebLogic Server.
NOTE: if you want to place the "test.war" file also as an exploaded format content inside the EAR then you need to extract the test.war file and then in place of the test.war you can have "test" directory at the same place.
You need to change the "application.xml" file like below in that case:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.4">
<description>Test EAR Example</description>
<display-name>TestEAR Example</display-name>
<module>
<web>
<font color=red> <web-uri>test</web-uri> </font><br>
<context-root>test</context-root>
</web>
</module>
</application>

I deployed the ear file.Now i try calling http://localhost/myapps/test.jsp ??
i'm i doing the right thing ?Hi,
This is right provided you have installed the webserver & app server
on the same machine and the port number for the web server is 80 by
default.

Difference between .jar, .war and .ear file
Hi,
I am pretty new to J2EE technology.
I would like to know what is the difference between .jar, .war and .ear files and how they are deployed on webserver.
Thanks,Files with a .jar extension or JAR files, are essentially just a collection of files compressed using the ZIP/ZLIB compression format.
JAR (short for Java Archive) files were introduced in the early days of Java as a means to conveniently package and distribute Java applications and components. Since then, a number of additions to the Java platform have followed suit. The introduction of the EAR file is one such addition.
An EAR (Enterprise Archive) file is a JAR file that contains a J2EE application.
A J2EE application is a group of Web modules that collectively perform as a single entity.
A Web Module is an entity consisting of one or more resources such as HTML files, Java class files, XML files, etc. Web Modules are packaged in Web Archive (WAR) files.
Looking at it from a top-down view, EAR files contain JAR files and WAR files. Packaging resources in WAR files, JAR files and eventually EAR files, makes it easy to reuse and reassemble components as new J2EE applications and distribute them to new environments.
For example, Tomcat deals only with WAR files.
So, in order to auto-deploy a Web application to a Tomcat environment, you must place an application's WAR file in the appropriate directory or use Tomcat's deployment tools to manually deploy the file.
If you already have an EAR file that contains the WAR file, you can extract the WAR file and use it as is. If you do not have the EAR file or the WAR file, you can use any number of compliant tools to create the WAR file. Tomcat is a servlet/JSP container available from the jakarta.apache.org site. -
is it possible to include external .js file into .ear file using NetBean 5.5.1? if not, then where should I placed the external .js file and how to write the src="xxx" element? (that is , how to write the path of "xxx"?)
I am using JBOSS 4.2.2 GA as server
thx!!Even this is also not possible because, the code in that package is developed by DWR and i am just adding it to my lib folder and importing the respective classes. In the same manner i need to include the *.js* file in the JSP.It took me about 3 minutes reading through the [DWR Getting Started|http://getahead.org/dwr/getstarted] page to learn that you don't have to do any of that. Perhaps you should read that page?

How many Ways jar files from ear file on a jboss can be downloaded on client side

Regards
M Fazal Ur RehmanFirst, you need to be able to boot from the Recovery HD:
Boot Using Command+R keys:
1. Restart the computer.
2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
"COMMAND" and the "R" keys together.
3. Release the keys when the Utilities Menu appears.
Once at the Utilities Menu select Terminal from the Utilities menu in the screen's menubar. Now, you need to know where these new files are located. You move to any location using the 'cd' command such as cd /Users/user_name/Documents, then press RETURN. Replace user_name with your actual username. Next you need to do a directory listing to see if your files are in that location, Documents. Use ls -al to do a directory listing of the files and folders in Documents. If you find your new files there, then connect an external drive or flash drive. You will need to know the name you have assigned to this drive. It needs to be already formatted. Copy your files using cp /Documents/filename /Volumes/volname/filename. Replace volname and filename with those that apply. Press RETURN.
Or take it to your local Apple Store and see if they can do the chore for you. -

How can i make shorten systemlog files and joblog files on OS
Hello
How can i make shorten systemlog files and joblog files on OSHello Jan,
You can limit the size of system log.
The size of the application server's System Log is determined by the
following SAP profile parameters. Once the current System Log reaches
the maximum file size, it gets moved to the old_file and and a new
System Log file gets created. The number of past days messages in the
System Log depends on the amount/activity of System Log messages and the
max file size. Once messages get rolled off the current and old files,
they are no longer retrievable.
rslg/local/file /usr/sap/<SID>/D*/log/SLOG<SYSNO>
rslg/local/old_file /usr/sap/<SID>/D*/log/SLOGO<SYSNO>
rslg/max_diskspace/local 1000000
rslg/central/file /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/SLOGJ
rslg/central/old_file /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/SLOGJO
rslg/max_diskspace/central
Refer to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/c7/69bcbaf36611d3a6510000e835363f/content.htm
for explanation of profile parameters.you can reduce the size of system log using rslg/max_diskspace_local and rslg/max_diskspace_central
But you can't reduce the size of job log files on OS

Generation of .ecs file and .xsd file
Hi,
I am working on the Acme-GlobalChips tutorial Query using File 1.0 protocol.
I have few question on that.
While creating the Business actions and Trading partner IN B2B we use two 850.ecs and 850.xsd.Can these be used for all the trading partners or they are partner specific.If not then do we develop it using Document Editor.
Moreover if after we create the .ecs using the tool can we generate the .xsd file using same tool.
I have this doubt because I used the .ecs file provide with the tutorial and used EDI file provide by some other partner it worked.I mean I was able to generate the EDI-Xml as payload in reports section of B2B.
Can some help me on this.
Regards
LalitHi Lalit,
1. Yes. Different Trading partners can use the same Business action. However, you can also override the .ecs file and .xsd file as per your requirement.
2. We can also generate .xsd files using the Document editor.

I have a validation lab that uses Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on several completely different systems. I am looking for an easy way for the techs to PXE boot from a 2012 Server, select the OS to install and have the OS installed with drivers so when they come back
to the system it has the OS installed with no Bangs in Device Manager.
I have done this in the past (7-8 years ago) and it was fairly easy. Now from what I read it appears I have to create "Image" files for each system type? I hope I am misreading this because that method is counter-productive to create 10 different
images for 10 different systems.
I thought I used WDS and AIK on a 2K3 Server but I don't remember.
Is there a method/tool to install the operating systems as I described above using original OS ISOs, unattended answer files and driver files? WDS or SCCM? AM I misreading how it works?Consider using newer Windows ADK

Table files and Index files 2GB on Windows 2003 Server SP2 32-bit
I'm new to Oracle and I've ran into the problem where my Table files and Index files are > 2GB. I have an Oracle instance running version 10.2.0.3.0. I have a number of tables file and index files that have a current files size of 1.99GB. My Oracle crashes about three times a week because of a "Write Fault/Failure. I've detemined that the RDBM is trying to write a index or table files > 2GB. When this occurs it crashes.
I've been reading the Oracle knowledge base that it suggest that there is a fix or release of Oracle 10g to resolve this problem. However, I've been unable to locate any fix or release to address my issue. Does such a fix or release exist? How do I address this issue? I'm from the world of MS SQL and IBM DB2 and we don't have this issue. I am running and NTFS files system. Could this be issue be related to an Windows Fix?
Surely Oracle can handel databases > 2GB.
Thanks in advance for any help.After reading your response it appears that my real problem has to do with checking pointing. I've included below a copy of the error message:

Printing messages in Log File and Output File using Dbms_output.put_line
Hi,
I have a requirement of printing messages in log file and output file using dbms_output.put_line instead of fnd_file.put_line API.
Please let me know how can I achieve this.
I tried using a function to print messages and calling that function in my main package where ever there is fnd_file.put_line. But this approach is not required by the business.
So let me know how I can achieve this functionality.
Regards
SandyWhat is the requirement that doesn't allow you using fnd_file.put_line?
Please see the following links.
