Portion of the touch screen not responding

Last night I dropped my iPod by accident a couple feet onto tile. The screen is fine physically, no scratches or cracks, and the screen is still normal when I use the iPod. However, a lower portion of the touchscreen doesn't respond. It shows up, but it just does nothing when I try to touch it. I can still unlock the iPod normally, but since the lower portion is gone, I can't hit certain tools on the bottom and I can't hit the bottom for commenting on Facebook and other apps like that or use the spacebar when in normal mode. I tried resetting it and turning it off and on again but it did nothing. When I go into landscape typing mode the part that didn't respond does respond, which I really don't understand.
Got any ideas on what I should do or should I just send it in? I still have the one year warrenty.

You can try the standard fixes to rule aout a sftware problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
Accidental damage like caused by dropping the iPod is not covered by the warranty.  Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.
A third-party place like the following mah be less expensive but you will lose the remainder of your warranty.

  • Sony Xperia Z touch screen not responding

My Sony Xperia Z has been giving me problems ever since I bought it in May 2013.By October 2013 I had to send this phone for repair twice. In the last 9 months though it was doing well and there no problem till today afternoon when I found out that the touch screen was not responding. The phone was on charge when this happened and there was a heavy downpour though not a single drop fell on the phone.I tried using the power button to switch it on and off but could not use the shut the phone option because the touch screen wont respond.I have rebooted the phone and switched it off using the power+volume up button multiple times since then. After about an hour when I was trying for the umpteenth time to key in my password I saw that some numbers were randomly getting punched in.After several attempts the phone's touch screen did respond and I was able to make a call but post that the touch screen went back to the not responding mode.Another hour later and exposing the phone to the sun beating down while i was in a car helped and this time I was able to see all my msgs and mails. My elation was shortlived as the phone went back to the touch screen not responding mode.I had a short trip to make by air and I switched off my phone and put it on charge using the USB connected to my laptop. When I switched on after landing I found that I was able to key in my password but after that the phone again got stuck.Since this last occurence about two hours ago the touchscreen has not responded. It is frustrating to see that msgs are coming, people are calling and I can see the numbers, mails are getting downloaded  but I cant do anything about it.Right now the phone is submerged in a jar of rice in the hope that the mositure might dry out and it will be back to normal again. Please suggest whether using the hair dryer would help or not.I must repeat the phone has not got wet.I also removed the screen guard on both the ends and the back cover to allow the phone to breath.Waiting anxiously for help

  • Anyone have issues with "touch screen" not responding?

Does anyone find that the touch screen doesn't respond? I have huge issues with this style.
Touching and swiping on a screen that is 1.5 inches isn't fun. I need shade to read the screen (bad for snow), I need to go thru so much just to get to a song, a podcast, whatever that was playing before I HAD to turn off nana. I need to turn off nano each time.
    1. Turn on by holding button like forever.
    2. swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe to get to songs or podcast. Select, select, touch selcet, not selecting, touch, touch touch.
    3. Select 'songs; selevet something else to get to a screen that says shuffle.
    4. Select, select, touch, touch, use index finger, thumb, touch, breath on finger, touch again.
    5. After one song plays after selecting "shuffle", it repeats, repeats,
    6. Take ipod out of pocket, stand in shade, hit the snooze whatever button, to activate screen, Is screen activitated? yes? But it blinked off to quick to make selectioon of touch proof screen.
    7. Walk inside to touch screen, to see screen. Hit button, wait for long time for this to start again (much like laptop starting).
    8. Swipe to get to menu with songs, swipe, swipe, swipe swipe.
    9. Select music: albums, artist songs. By selecting I mean touch touch touch, touch, use thumb, touch. for each selection
    10. Are you sure this is an Apple product?
Can I return this POS and wait for someone to go back to what worked best??

Oh, and yes I have restored to factory settings. Then resynch.
I have done the soft reset or whatever it's called on this one.
    It is updated.

  • Touch Screen NOT responding. what to do?

okay so here is my dilemma.. My iPhone's touch screen has stopped responding. I tried restarting it by holding down the power button, I tried resetting it holding down the power/home button. I let the battery die completely before charging it again. I lost the USB cable that came with the phone so I have been charging it through firewire, but because of the firewire connection, it will not show up in iTunes so I can't reset it... And obviously I can't reset it in the phone itself because the touch screen isn't working...
    Any ideas??????

Holding the Home button and the Sleep/Wake or On/Off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release is called a Reset.
Without a USB cable for your iPhone, you cannot not sync, install any iPhone updates when made available, or restore your iPhone with iTunes, which may resolve this problem.
You need to get a USB cable that is compatible with your iPhone. Do you also have an iPod with dock connector? If so, the USB cable for your iPod can be used. If not, do you know anyone else who has an iPod or iPhone you can borrow their USB cable from until you can purchase another USB cable for your iPhone?
If a Restore does not work, time to give AppleCare a call (800) 694-7466, or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby - where you can purchase another USB cable for your iPhone.

  • Z10 Touch screen not responding

I cannot access my phone.  I can turn it on and off using the on/off button at the top.  I've tried this several times, I have also removed the battery a few times.  It will start and it appears that it is working, I can see that everything has loaded, I can hear emails, messages and notfications coming in but cannot access anything.  The phone is not responding to touch at all!

Hi @Elcee! Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Do you hear a voice prompt or anything when you touch the screen?
Could it be the Screen Reader mode?
Edit: As I see in your post here, it's not Screenreader mode.
Have you tried reinstalling the OS?

  • Hp pavillon touch screen not responding

I got my laptop recently, around christmas. We ran into some problems, since it was shipped here and someone had gotten their hands on it (i.e, set up an account and password and force you to erase everything and reset the laptop).
It was working fine at first, the touchscreen and everything, but after a month or two if I closed the screen half-way when I used it the screen would act like it was being pressed everywhere. Whenever it happened, I just closed my laptop, and when I opened it it would be more or less okay.
I started disabling the touch screen instead, because I like working with it in the bed with the screen partially closed (my brother says that's why it's broken), but I've started enabling it again and it doesn't work anymore. Sometimes, the screen will react as if someone is pressing all over it, but when I actually press it it doesn't respond.
I keep the screen clean- it's not wet or anything.

I understand that you got your notebook around Christmas.  You ran into some problem after it was shipped to your location  and someone had setup an account and password and you were forced to erase and reset the notebook.
After the reset initially  the notebook  touchscreen would work fine when the display was closed approximately half way.
After  month or two when you closed it half way teh screen would act like it was being pressed everywhere, however if you closed and re-opened it would be OK again.
You started disabling the touchscreen as you were working with it while in bed and the display half closed.
Now when you try to enable the touchscreen it is not working.

  • Touch Screen Not Responding

I left my ipod charging over night (did not sync), and when I grabbed it this morning the touch screen was unresponsive and not working. I tried doing the power and volume down reset, but nothing changed. All the buttons work fine, but without a working screen its a pretty useless device.
Any idea on the problem or a solution?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem. However, I left the headphones in overnight. I then tried to lisen to music the next day and the screen wouldn't light up. I click the volume rockers and I hear the beeping of the vol up and vol down. I then went and re-synced and restored the Nano - still nothing. Itunes recognizes there is data on the Nano, but Nano doesn't want to work. My only hope is to bring it to Apple store and get replacement

  • Touch Screen not responding for setting icon in iPhone5s after upgrade to iOS 8.

After upgrade to iOS8 in IPhone 5s, the touch screen is not working for settings icon. The settings will be opened on the screen, but unfortunately I can;t use any of the operations available on the setting window. Once I pressed the home menu button or power button and re-open the settings, it works.

Your observation is right. I am facing the same issue after upgrading to iOS 8.3. The trial and error was common with Microsoft .. it seems Apple is catching up with MS .
I hope they address this issue quickly.

  • N900 touch screen not responding

My N900touch scrren is playing up,the pictures there and everything but it just wont respond to touch at all,Ive tried taking battery out/sliding lock key/turning on and off and I cant resolve it...any1 got any tips?
I cant even touch on settings to restore back to factory settingsand as its the touch screen that isnt working I cant update/reset through PC suite as I cant select that mode on the phone!!!

how long are you waiting to try and touch it?
what was the last 2 softwares that you installed?
when was the last time you did a back up?
if it were me, i would reflash the device with flasher.
here is the LINK with directions to flash.  its actually very simple.
it may be the only way to get it back to normal if you cannot touch the screen.

  • Touch screen not responding after iOS 7.0.2 update

This morning I updated my iPhone 4s with the iOS 7.0.2. After the update I was prompted with the "Hello   > slide to set up" screen, but when I tried to "slide it" nothing happened. I tried many times with my finger and a stylus, but still nothing. The screen eventually went black as it does when there is no activity. When I press the home button the "slide to set up" screen reappears. I tried holding the power button down, but couldn't "slide to power off". I restarted it by pressing the hold and home buttons at the same time, after the restart it went back to the "slide to set up" screen. The touch screen was working just fine up until the update. Please help me figure out what's wrong with my phone!
