Portlet  Discoverer List of Worksheets OAS 10.1.2 ???

Hi!
After we upgreded OAS 9..0.4 to 10.1.2 Portlet "Discoverer List of Worksheets" did't work.
On page portal make "Edit defaults" for portlet.. On first step "Database connect" is successfully.
Next step show "Discoverer List of Worksheets", but I can't choose. The button "Select" is blocked.
I see this Worksheets from OracleDescovererDesktop.
What ideas? Thank, Natali.

Natali,
So I understand this correctly: You can't open the worksheets from Portal as the users that has the ability to use them in Discoverer? If the connector uses a common identity (database user) that has permissions, I would suggest that you verify a these things...
Make sure that the Portlet is setup with the worksheets selected that you want to see. I have seen it where you can see the workbook, but no worksheets because the workbook worksheets were not selected and the portlet is setup to "select worksheets" type is selected with no sheets selected.
Make sure that your Portlet is using the connector that you manaully choose when you use Plus or Viewer.
Verify that you are sharing the workbook's worksheets with the users you have setup in the connector.
Are you using VPD for anything?

Does anyone know how to resize the text size in the discoverer list of worksheets portlet. We have 2 servers which are supposed to be identical but on one server the portlet text is displayed in a larger size. I have tried changing the font size in the style but it has no affect.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Discoverer list of worksheets by logged on user

In portal on a page, I want to add a portlet showing the current user, that is logged on, their discoverer list of worksheets. Is this possible? Do I need to use VPD?

If you use a private connection then they should be able to see their own list of worksheets.

  • Discoverer List of worksheets NOT working in Portal

    Hi There,
I'm trying to create a list of worksheets on a portlet in Portal.
I can select the option "Discoverer List of Worksheets" from the available Portlets section.
Then when I try to actually select the worksheets from the list of workbooks I get the following error: An error occured while handling the request in the controller.
What is actually the problem here?
I have tried to find the an explanation for the fault but without any success so far.
Please help as I desperately need to add lists of worksheets to portlets so that my users call select the worksheets they want to run.

  • Discoverer List of Worksheets not displaying correctly

We are having problems with the list of of worksheets portlet not displaying correctly every time.
Sometimes the portlet displays the the list of worksheets on a white background with all the grid lines missing, other times it displays correctly.
The portal is 10g and it is running over https, running over a load balancer.
Has anyone come across this before?
    Thanks in advance

  • OmniPortlet parameter passing to another portlet (discoverer worksheet )

how can i use omniportlet's simple parameter form to pass parameter to the other portlet(discoverer worksheet portlet)?
    PLS help
    Korhan YUNAK

    Hello,
The current version of Discoverer Portlet does not support Page Parameter. This is planned for the next release of the portlet.
The demonstrations available on http://portalstudio.oracle.com/portaltools will show you step by step how to use the Simple Parameter Form to raise an event, that will send parameters to a portal page.

  • Problem on Portlet for list of workbooks

    Hi,
I followed the instruction on 'How to use OracleAS Discoverer with OracleAS Portal' on Oracle Application Server Discoverer Configuration Guide.
    1. I check make sure the portlet provider URL works.
    2. I registered the portlet Provider.
    3. I refresh the portlet provider after I applied the changes.
But according to the document, the Discoverer list of workbooks and Discoverer workbook portlets should show up at portlet staging folder.
    Any suggestion or tip?

Did you add a portlet to your portal? Add the portlet, then click edit defaults and the Discoverer Portal Provider walks you thru a dialogue.

  • How to pass parameter to a Discoverer Plus OLAP Worksheet??

    Hi,
I have used discoverer plus OLAP and portal to develop executive dashboards in my company. I put my date dimension in Page Item of discoverer plus OLAP worksheet to view a specific week/month/year of analysis i.e. Jul-07.
Now I have to open all the worksheets and change the page item value when week/month ends. If it was 'Jul-07' then I have to change it as 'Aug-07'.
In discoverer plus OLAP we can't pass parameters as we can in discoverer relational.
Can someone help me how I can set the new values without opening discoverer worksheets?

    Dear Shahid,
I downloaded the Oracle Application Server SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0. While installing It gave me two options
    1. Basic Install
Install J2EE server and SOA suite of applications including BPEL, ESB
    and OWSM.
    2. Advance Install (This gives 4 options)
    a. J2EE Server, Web Server and SOA suite
    b. J2EE Server and Web Server
    c. J2EE Server
    d. Web Server\
According to your instructions I need to install it as Insfrastructure, BI and portal. Now can you tell me which option of the install I should select in order to meet the requirements of Infrastructure, BI and Portal.
Because I am very new in this technology so If you can guide to me to get started at least then I can follow the Oracle Tutorial for further training.
Thanks very much in this regards.

  • Suggest adding weblogic server courses to approved course list for 10g OAS

Although this is quite niche market i would suggest adding a weblogic server training course to the approved list for 10g OAS OCP.
While not related to the OAS OCP exam it might be beneficial to experienced OAS people wishing to become familiar with weblogic for the future and as such is an sort of 'upgrade' path preparation.

It is not uncommon for WebLogic applications to show performance issues from time-to-time.The truth of the matter is that most of your performance issues are solvable.
Is it important to have deep WebLogic knowledge to help mitigate issues ??

  • Discoverer Workbooks and Worksheets

I am able to use SQL to find the names of all our Discoverer workbooks (select * from apps.eul5_documents docs) but I am no table to retrieve the worksheet tabs within each workbook. Can anyone suggest a change to my SQL to do that?
    Thanks
    Steve

The only EUL* table i am aware of is EUL5_QPP_STATS, in the column QS_DOC_DETAILS you will find the worksheet name but be aware that the table is a statistics table, you can find more information under this thread how is EUL5_QPP_STATS populated ?

  • Can Discoverer join 2 worksheets ?

The answer is probably "NO", but I'll give it a shot. I have a situation where the user is running 2 different worksheets. Worksheet A gives totals for each "Plan Code" from the workorder module, and Worksheet B gives totals for each "Plan Code" from the SalesOrder module. The only element in common between the two are the "Plan Codes". Is there a way to join the two worksheets together so that you have one worksheet by plan code. I thought of Summaries, but that would mean the user would have to have access to them in order to enter the parameters desired, which could be different each time executed. Example of Output:
    Worksheet A:
    Plan Workorders WorkOrderCost
    130 275 $5900.00
    140 30 $274.50
    147 624 $12,702.75
    Worksheet B:
    Plan Description OrderCost LineCost TotalCost
    130 Health & Welfare Pan $120.00 $234.00 $354.00
    140 Business Travel $25.00 $ 47.00 $72.00
    147 REHCP $15.00 $ 45.00 $60.00
    Desired Combined Worksheet:
Plan Description OrderCost LineCost TotalCost Workorders WorkOrderCost
    130 Health & Welfare Pan $120.00 $234.00 $354.00 275 $5900.00
    140 Business Travel $25.00 $ 47.00 $72.00 30 $274.50
    147 REHCP $15.00 $ 45.00 $60.00 624 $12,702.75
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Kerry Brannen

Nice idea, but I already use Custom Folders to create the data for the two worksheets described above. As I indicated before, there is no correlation between what makes up the figures in the worksheet from SalesOrders with what makes up the figures from the WorkOrders. The only thing SalesOrders and WorkOrders have in common is that they both use Inventory and certain types of Inventory items are associated with Plan Codes. So, am I so involved in this that I'm not seeing something? Actually, it would be nice if after creating the two above worksheets in the same workbook (even though using different tables), Discoverer would let you copy cells from both worksheets to make combined worksheet if both worksheets were sorted by the same element (in my case, PlanCode).
    Thanks

  • Publishing Discoverer plus OLAP worksheets on Portal with 10g Rel 2

    Hi,
I am getting an error (red cross sign in a circle) in the beginning of Discoverer OLAP worksheets when i tries to publish them on Portal. I have 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2.0) database (Unix) and 10.1.2 AS (Windows) on production server.
I have developed the same dashboards on development server without having any problem but I used the infrastructure database (10.1.0.4) rather then using seperate database server.
I would appreciate if someone can help.

    Hi,
Have you given the user SCOTT access to the Discoverer Catalog? This is done via the Application Server Control for the BI Instance that you have created, ie, http://hostname:18100
Click on the Discoverer hyperlink, followed by the Administration tab, and then the manage link. Enter your credentials and then click on Authorize Users and Roles. You should then be able to give access for selected users and roles to the discoverer catalog.

  • How To Remove "Type" Column from Discoverer Worksheet List Portlet

Is there a way to remove the "Type" column from Discoverer List of Worksheets portlet? I can see where to remove Modified Date, Creation Date, etc., but it doesn't from there allow me to remove the "Type" column. My users don't care whether it's a Workbook or Worksheet, and it's taking up valuable page real estate.
    Thanks!

    No and Yes.
No because the UI does not provide you a way to do that. Because you can have in the List of Worksheets portlet different types of objects - workbooks as well as worksheets - we decided that it was going to be less confusing to people if they always got to see the type of object they would be opening if they clicked on the worksheet/workbook link.
Yes because you can hack the appropriate UIX file to remove the lines that are responsible for displaying the Type column. But, and I cannot say this enough: do it at your own risk, it is not supported, and Oracle Support will be unable to help you should run into issues.
Look for a step-by-step writeup on the blog later this week.

  • Discoverer Portlet Provider, No Response from Application Web Server

I must have some odd configurable incorrect. I hope one of you can help me out and point me in the right direction.
My issue involves the "Discoverer List of Worksheets" portlet. It will display all the workbooks and I can drill in and see the worksheets, but, when I click/choose a worksheet, it will return within a couple seconds and display "No Response from Application Web Server" in bold red letters, then "There was no response from application ...", then "Please notify the site's webmaster ...". I have spent the day trying to lock down a log on the http server, j2ee, web cache and used enterprise manager to see logs which changed immediately after the error but didn't seem to find much.
What am I missing? Is there a timeout somewhere? Does it look like I missed something when I configured anything?
Below are the configurables and answers to some of the obvious questions.

  • Single Worksheet Viewer used in portlets shows data only in English

    Hi all,
We have a problem with Discoverer portlets displaying data only in English:
Our MOLAP cubes contain data in English and in Bulgarian. We have two public connections - one set to EN and the second to BG language.
Into the portal we have two pages - first one contains Discoverer List of Worksheets and Discoverer Single Worksheet portlets, both using the EN connection, second page is similar but using the BG connection.
When we open a worksheet from a portlet set to BG it always shows the data in EN. Same worksheet when opened from the stand-alone Viewer shows the data correctly.
We found a Metalink note 395836.1 which says that Oracle have implemented a Single Worksheet Viewer since version 10.1.2 that is used in Discoverer portlets instead of the standard Viewer. There is also an explanation how to revert to the standard Viewer but only for the public users to the portal. We tested it and it works but we need it for the users that log into the portal.
That makes us thing that the problem is related to this Single Worksheet Viewer.
Has anyone fased this problem? Any ideas how to solve it?
    Regards,

    Hi,
I opened a SR in Metalink and the answer from the support team is:
"When the user "creates" the Disco Portlet, the language defined in the
browser, in this case English, will be the language used when
displaying the data in the SSO portlets.
And the workaround someone to be able to publish the portlet in different language is to change the default browser language to the desired language before publishing the portlet. We tested it as follows:
    1. Changed the browser language to Bulgarian - for IE (Tools - Internet Options - General tab - Languages button), for Firefox (Tools - Options - Content - Languages area - Choose button)
    2. Added portlet to the page which is using the public connection set to Bulgarian language.
    3. After publishing the portlet, the data appears in Bulgarian.
Tested with both Discoverer Worksheet and Discoverer List of Worksheets portlets and it WORKS for the both.
The inconvenience is that if you are working with multiple languages you have to be careful which language is set in the browser when you publish a portlet and you have to switch between the different languages. There is no possibility to change the language after the portlet is published - it will open always in the initial language.
I thing that such an important limitation should be included in the Discoverer official documentation.
