Portrait pics rotate 90 degrees when emailed/texted.

When sharing pictures from my G3, pictures that i take as a portrait are shown rotated 90 degrees or in landscape mode. They show correctly on my G3 even when i rotate the phone. However, pictures I take with the phone on it's side(landscape) display correctly when I open them up on a pc/text. I can't see a setting to change on the phone to correct this. I've had 3 G2's in the last four weeks and none of them had this issue and couldn't find answer with Google search. TIA!

Luckily, after uploading a photo on Facebook, Facebook gives you the option of rotating the photo. Just click the 90º arrow next to the photo.

Even tho' I'd fix the orientation in Preview and save them with the correct orientation, when I uploaded them to gardenguides.com, they came out upside-down or sideways. I worked around it by first saving them in the correct orientation in Preview, then uploading them to Photobucket (a free online photo storage site). For some reason, Photobucket DOES keep them oriented exactly the way I have them saved.
THEN, once they are uploaded to Photobucket, I looked at one at a time, control+click and scrolled to the option of "Save this image." (In other words, I downloaded the photos I had just uploaded to Photobucket.) Then I took THOSE saved images and uploaded THEM to my gardenguides.com blog, where they came out right-side-up. It was a hassle, but it worked. Thankfully it was only 5 photos that I took incorrectly-- someone on here said to be sure from now on to hold your iPhone with the Home button on the right when taking pictures.

Help!? Some photos rotate 90 degrees when uploaded or previewed or attache

I have no idea why this is happening, but it's intermittent and incredibly frustrating...
Just upgraded to Tiger (this hadn't happened with Panther) and curious if anyone has any suggestions?
The picture displays just fine in the Finder's preview, but then I go to do something and it's at a 90-degree angle.

Hi there jjewson! I can certainly understand your concern here. I definitely want
to help you to get your pictures set up the way you want them to be once and
for all. With ios 8 you should have the option to rotate your pictures to the
point you want then once there, you should be able to save them. Do you back
your phone up to the iCloud or Verizon cloud? If the pictures saved in either
of those sources are set to the prior setting, they may be restoring on the
phone to the rotated version. I would log into your iCloud or Verizon Cloud and
check there as well. Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Images rotate and resize when relinking after collect for output

I just started using CS5 and have run into an issue that is very disturbing to me. When I relink my files from the collected folder that I send to printer, images that have been rotated in Indesign rotate to their actual size and rotation. This is not a good thing! We should not have to rotate all of our images outside of indesign.. Please Help!!!

OK, we were cross posting, and I've now looked at your file.
One key piece of information you didn't tell us before is that the file was created in CS3 and converted. There are a lot of reports of strange behavior with legacy files. This one seems to be somewhat corrupt at this point. I don't know how much of that was introduced form the conversion, and how much from the previous recycling.
The best approach when converting a CS3 file is often to export as .inx from CS3 and open that in CS5. The other thing that helps is to open the old file iin CS5, then immediately export to .idml, then open that and save as a new .indd and work with that. Since I don't have the original CS3 version I don't know how that behaved or if .inx will help, but exporting this one to .idml seems to clear up problems with all the photos except the one at the top of page 4 which rotates 180 degrees when relinked.
For best results you should probably rebuild this file from scratch in CS5, then save as a template. Starting each new editon from a template is more reliable than resaving an old issue and removing unwanted content. Although ID is more stable than most programs when you do this, creeping corruption is always a problem with long-term resaving of the same document and you often don't see it until you are hard up on deadline and your file goes south.

I have the same problem with lectures slides.
Furthermore, sometimes the text box, when doube-clicking, turns the text into a one-liner. Causing the text box to sometimes get 3. times wider than the pdf itself.

By pressing [cmd + I] the Inspector opens up and clicking on the rightmost tab 'Annotations' you should be able find those Annotations again. I do this regularly to find the empty annotations I accidentally create while clicking through slides.

Sometimes syncing will have problems with very large video files like this. I'm not sure you will be able to overcome this, but if the videos are important enough you may consider purchasing 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer them.

Portrait pics wrong orientation when creating slide show

Running Premiere Elements 8 and loading a slide show for Photoshop Elements 8. Everything is fine but got to some of my "portrait" pics and they are rotated in the wrong direction and stretched. The puzzling thing is that all the pics came from same camera (Canon Rebel XTI) and some are OK, others are not. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or a solution to correct this. Thanks.

From your screenshot of the Premiere Elements 4.0 Properties Palette/Motion Panel and the Motion Panel's properties which include Rotate, I believe that you and SG are talking about the same thing but
(a) you are letting your “fixed” in “fixed Effect>Motion>Rotation (from the Edit Effects)” obscure what you are saying
and
(b) SG, is limiting his vision to right clicking the video, selecting Show Properties, and set Rotation to 90 (where in reality you get the options of Rotate Left or Rotate Right or dial in a rotation depending on which direction the rotation needs to go in.).
I actually have Premiere Elements 4.0, 7.0, and 8.0.1 installed on my computer and use them one at a time all the time, so here is my take on the matter.
For Timeline content rotation you need to get to the Properties Palette/Motion Panel and the Rotation property in the Motion Panel. PERIOD. You can adjust the Rotation by clicking the Rotate Left or Rotate Right buttons there OR dial in the rotation with your mouse cursor to the right of that area.
THE PROPERTIES PALETTE FOR PREMIERE ELEMENTS 4.0, 7.0, AND 8.0/8.0.1 ARE EXACTLY THE SAME IN THIS REGARD.
Getting to the Premiere Elements Properties Panel
Premiere Elements 4.0
a. right clicking the video and selecting Show Properties
or
b. Window Menu/Properties
Premiere Elements 7.0 and 8.0/8.0.1
a. right clicking the video and selecting Show Properties

Although the Edit Effects option after you apply an Effect will take you to the Properties Panel, I do not see where it is really needed under the circumstances and in light of the other avenues.
But when all that Band-Aid talk is put out the way, the fundamental issue is the rotation of video on transfer of the Photoshop Elements slideshow to Premiere Elements, using the Photoshop Elements Edit With Premiere Elements Command. That and black video are frequent “unexpected” slideshow transfer issues when one uses oversized photos in one of these projects destined for DVD-VIDEO. Resizing of the photos to pixel dimensions not to exceed 1000 x 750 pixels and checking out your computer resources should be priority business. Remember Premiere Elements is a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of a 64 bit system and as such has the limitations of 32 bit. It is not a 64 bit application that can take full advantage of that 64 bit installed RAM. A 32 bit system supports max 4 GB installed RAM of which about 3 GB RAM or less are available. How much available RAM does your computer have when you are running Photoshop Elements Premiere Elements?

Are you attempting to update via iTunes on a computer or over the air on the device?

This is not something on your end. If they send an iMessage it will arrive as an iMessage, if the send an email it will arrive as an email.
THey are sepearate services that cannot be mixed up.
Tell them to send you an email, rather than an iMessage.
If they are using the messages App it will always arrive as a Message.

When I drag an image into IBA, it rotates 90 degrees.

I'm having trouble dragging a particular image into iBooks Author. I took a picture and imported from my camera to iPhoto. The image had to be rotated 90 degrees, which I did in iPhoto. I'm using the "Contemporary" template in iBooks Author and I'm trying to drag my image from iPhoto to replace the red, space themed image at the top of a section page. When I do so, the image reverts to its original instead of the rotated form. I can't figure out how to rotate the image without rotating the mask.

Not sure of the reasons but I would imaging it might have to do with iPhoto and its non destruction approach to editing.
Have you tried exporting the image out as a new image that would then have the new rotation that you wish applied to it.

Problem processing Email attachment when Body text exists

Using an Email communication channel (POP3) we are successfully processing emails with an attachment of type csv or xml.
These attachments are swapped with the Payload message then sent into an IP for processing.
The IP splits the inbound message into multiple messages (1:n) and feeds them individually into a For Each Block where we perform a transformation then a send to a JDBC adapter.
Everything works well until someone enters text into the body of the email. Then we end up with an error.

When body text is encountered we end up with two payloads:
1.     Main Document (application/xml)
2.     Mail Message (multipart/alternative boundary..)
We are currently at XI 3.0 Service 17 (SAPKB64017)
The mail channel for the XML attachment is configured with the following Modules:

The mail channel for the CSV attachment is set up the same except it has an additional module specification for localejbs/AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean to generate an XML document from a csv attachment.
Has anybody had the same experience? Or suggestions?

Maybe the error is related to the fact that the payload is not a valid XML.
Try to send some text in body like "<test><data>abcd</data></test>" just to see if the same error occurs.

You can send and receive Messages from the Apple IDs and phone numbers signed in to your iMessage section in the settings of your phone. We have an article that explains a little bit about this, and it can be found here:

You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from:. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, a friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if you've selected new conversations to start from your phone number.

Until your phone number is verified and activated you won't be able to select it in Caller ID. (You will probably notice that it says "waiting for activation'" under iMessage.) This has been widely discussed in this forum and there is no one solution that works for everyone. If you search the forum for "iMessage waiting for activation" you'll get a number of posts on this; you may find a solution that will work for you. Some of these include:
Go to Settings>General>Date & Time, make sure Set Automatically is set to On.
Be sure you are able to send and receive messages.
Call your carrier to see if they are blocking premium texts or third party texts.
Also make sure in Settings>General>Date & Time that Set Automatically is turned to ON. If not turn it on then go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
Change the DNS servers on their wireless router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (these are Google's Public DNS servers)
