Ports confusion

Hi,
I have some mess in ports and I don´t know where I have to search. In inst. profile I have:
icm/server_port_0 is 8000
icm/HTTP/j2ee_0 is 50000
When I call transtaction SOLMAN_SETUP, url is created well with port 8000.
IMG Documentation in SOLMAN_SETUP is correct too with port 8000.
In Initial Configuration, step 3 J2EE Configuration - Start J2EE Configuration is correct port 50000.
But, if I want to make Diagnostics Configuration in Basic Configuration, system create bad port 8100 and automatic configuration end with:
SOAP:1.023 SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED")
I did it manual and re-write to correct 50000 port.
In Managed System Configuration I have the same problem. When I select system,
choose Configure system, port is OK (8000).
In second step Check Prerequisites I execute Diagnostics Prerequisites. In logs tab in Column Details is link to dynpro with bad 8000 port. Correct is 50000.
And second question. Which effects cause modification BI Authorization Concept to u201CObsolete Concept with RSR Authorization Objectsu201D in BW system?
Thanks for help.
J.M.D

Hello Jaromir,
For the ports needed in a Solution Manager system, you can check the security guide of Solution Manager at http://service.sap.com/instguides -> Solution Manager 7 EHP1
For the second question, I suggest that you post it to a BW forum.
Best regards,
Miguel Ariñ

  • Virtual WLC Ports Confusion -or- ADDING ports to the vWLC

I am a struggling with configuring a virtual wireless controller (vWLC).
I am working with the newest vWLC, 8.0.100.0
I currently own an elderly 2504 WLC with 4 ports. (four physical interfaces on the box)
On this 2504, I use one port for the management of the WLC and for WLC to communicate with the APs.
The APs are on the same network as the 2504. The other port is the interface that all my wireless traffic from the clients use.
Now with this vWLC, the virtual machine has two network interface, but once I get to a point that I am able to login to the vWLC, I only see one 'port'. According to this posting, I am suppose to take the service port and point it too a dummy virtual switch or a 'Black Hole' https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12098556/vwlc-getting-started-key-points-and-common-issues.
Okay, I've done this and it works, but it not what I am accustomed to.
I enjoy having the web console of the WLC and the AP on separate networks from the wireless clients.
To complicate things my desire is for this new vWLC and my 2504 to work together.
I want over time to migrate APs from the 2504 to the vWLC without re-addressing them.
Can I add "ports" to my vWLC controller? Do I need to rethink my wireless infrastructure?
I am confused and am seeking your help, advice, suggestions, opinions and flames.

I think you need to re-look at your wireless design. I would prefer the 2504 over a vWLC, but that's me. I would not of separated the ports also on the WLC.  No real reason to, to be honest. Keep AP's on a seperate subnet and the traffic to and from the WLC is tunneled using capwap. Breaking up ports was an old design to be honest and that was also done back them with the 4400's. You have to also look at the pro's and con's of FlexConnect AP's vs local mode.  I never create an ap manager interface on the newer WLC's. I have always kept the dynamic ap manager in the managemt. Traffic is tunneled and you control user traffic when it leaves the WLC.

  • CMS Ports - Confusion

    Hi,
    I have the setup below
When installing BI 4 I want to understand something about ports and what checks need to be carried out prior to install.
The SQL Server is installed first with empty databases setup for Audit and CMS. I have then on BI4_SERVER setup ODBC connection to the databases so i can provide this information in the install.
As default BI 4 uses port 6400 to connect to the CMS (as I understand). In the example above - this would be SQL_SERVER 6400.
    - If I try to (prior to install of application BI_SERVER but after the empty database install) telnet to SQL_SERVER 6400. It gets refused. Do I need to setup anything for the database to listen to port 6400?
    - If I try to (prior to install of application BI_SERVER but after the empty database install) telnet to BI4_SERVER 6400. It gets refused. Do I need to setup anything for the database to listen to port 6400? The reason for this second question is because in the install logs when i try and install BI 4 i get the following error
*#*_*FWM 20030|Could not reach CMS 'BI_SERVER:6400'. Specify the correct host and port and check for network issues. (FWM 20030)|Could not reach CMS 'BI_SERVER:6400'. Specify the correct host and port and check for network issues. (FWM 20030)*_*#*
    - The last question I have is that does the BI 4 application just use port 6400 on the "BI4_SERVER" and then use the ODBC connection to connect to SQL_SERVER. In turn we dont actually use the port 6400 on the SQL_SERVER
Any assistance would be grateful to clear my understanding on this.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If SQL server is installed on the different server then default port  (1433) needs to be open between Sql server CMS DB to BO APP server. If you have bound SQL server DB with different port then same needs to be open  from Sql Server DB to BO APP server.
Once you setup the database and for to check the port status use telnet command on BO App server and try to see if SQL server DB port is opened or not.
After that create ODBC connection on BO APP server and if ODBC connection is not successful then in ODBC connection screen enter the SQL server full name along with port name or try with IP address & port name. e.g sqlservername.xxx.xx,1433
6400 is the default port for CMS and 6410 is the default port for SIA same you can see at the time of BO installation.
For the client system connectivity with BO server tomcat port 8080 and CMS port 6400 needs to open.
refer attached link for BO installation with SQL server DB.

  • How I'd like backup to work...is it possible?

    Hello,
I have an idea of how I'd like my Mac set-up to work, but after spending hours reading numerous reviews and blogs I've left feeling even more confused.
    Set-up:
    Mac Book Air 13-inch Mid 2011 (120GB SSD) Lion 10.7.4 - mine
    Mac Book Pro 15-inch Late 2011 (750GB) Lion 10.7.3 - my partner's
What I'd like is an external hard drive/back up solution which does the following:
I use my MBA for my photography work and RAW picture files quickly fill up the 120GB. Also, when moving from my old PC laptop, I didn't bring half of my music onto this MBA as there just wasn't the space. So for my MBA, I'd like to be able to store my completed/processed photo files and my iTunes library on an external hard drive so my internal HD has more free space for projects I'm currently working on.
My partner uses the MBP for music and photo editting so again the files are big and important. With 750GB available, it's not as much of a problem having completed projects on the MBP, but it'd still be good to have completed on an external HD so there's more space for on-going projects.
We'd like to be able to do all this wireless if possible, in essence, the external HD/backup device plugged in 24-7, just able to grab files off as and when, then have Time Machine do it's thing and back up to it.
Reading about the Time Capsule it looks like it's really only for backup, not something you can go in and out of, editting and changing files...but I may have gotten the wrong impression from the reviews. It just seems everyone is only using it with Time Machine for backups, no one accessing files on a regular basis. Also, I live in Thailand and with our ISP True Online you receive a Wireless Router. I understand Time Capsule acts as a wireless router, however the back connection ports confuse me. There doesn't seem to be a smaller size port for the cable which runs from your telephone socket to the Time Capsule.
Does this mean you still need to use the wireless router from the ISP to connect from the phone socket? Then plug the Time Capsule into on of the Ethernet ports of the ISP Router? Wouldn't that then mean my house had 2 signals? One from the ISP router and one from the Time Capsule? I hope I've been as clear as possible, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We don't have an unlimited budget for this, but if something did the job, we'd probably spend a few hundred pounds on it. Thanks.

Reading about the Time Capsule it looks like it's really only for backup,
Correct .. it is designed as a backup target for Time Machine. it has no way to back itself up. If you store all those files on the TC it is easy as a voltage spike and you lose the whole lot.
If you buy a TC use it only for TM.. store your files in a true NAS or file server.
There doesn't seem to be a smaller size port for the cable which runs from your telephone socket to the Time Capsule.

The TIme Capsule is a combined Router and hard disk. there is no modem.. you still need to use the existing modem at least and maybe the router as well. It depends on the type of adsl or vdsl you have.
The modem wireless can be turned off, or channels selected to allow both to work and not interfere with each other.
My suggestion is keep using the current modem router.. if it is not N wireless add an airport express or extreme to the network and turn off the wireless in the modem.
Buy a true NAS.. QNAP or SYNOLOGY are the major suppliers but there are secondary tier like Buffalo which may be popular there, Netgear, Thecus.. several others.. some offer full Mac and Time Machine support. They also offer raid profile disk and easy incremental backup. It sounds like you should get a technician to set it up for you.
Note also storing library files like itunes and iphoto which are accessed by wireless results in very slow performance.. the problem is your local drives are not large.. I don't really have a solution except some work would probably be better done on a desktop machine where you can have large internal and external drives directly connected. Backup will be even more important in your situation of using laptops.
I also am fearful of the Time Capsule in the heat.. unless you have an aircon room to put the TC.. it runs fairly hot in Iceland.. In Thailand.. you can probably fry eggs on it.

  • Applications "gratuites" payantes !!

  • Confusion in Logical System, port & RFC Destination

    hi,
I have still few doubts regarding Logical System, port and RFC destication
My SAP ECC6.0 and XI configuration is:
    For ECC 6.0 : Logical system name : T03CLNT400
    Client : 400
    RFC Dest : XIDEST
    Port : XIPORT
For XI 3.0 : Logical System name : WXI
    client : 400
    RFC Dest : ECCDEST
    Port : SAPEC3
now my confusion is, in t-code WE19, when sending IDOC to XI (idoc - file scenario), which entry i've to use in prot and Partner No in Receiver side and which port and partner no i've to use in Sender Side.
also in XI side when creating Technical sys for web as ABAP which logical system name i've to use and in File to Idoc Scenario which logical system i've to use as sender business system (third party file business system)
If possible please give me detail idea to clarify my cofusion.
    thanks

    Ritesh,
<b>now my confusion is, in t-code WE19, when sending IDOC to XI (idoc - file scenario), which entry i've to use in prot and Partner No in Receiver side and which port and partner no i've to use in Sender Side.</b>
If you are sending from R3 then give the sender details as R3 and the receiver side as XI where you have created the port from R3 to XI etc.

  • 3860 switch confused on port allocation

    Hi
I have just purchased some WS-C3850-12S switches ..... i am trying to create a number of straightforward 1 gig uplinks from 2960 switches using fibre and sfps.
I am confused which ports i am suposed to configure the trunks on as the sh runn shows the below when i plug sfps into port 1/0/1 and 1/02 ......
Ive read up a bit - is it that if i want 1 gigabit ethernet i configure port 1/1/1 and if i want ten gig i configure port 1/1/1 and 1/1/2 ...why two ports for ten gig are these port-channels to make 10 gig ......or am i just losing the plot ?
be great if someone hasa 2960 with trunk port and an sfp iplinking to one of these to send a basic config
Any help appreciated as the internet is not littered with examples :)
    many thanks

  • [MSI Z97 Xpower AC] Confusion about odd/even Sata port number sides

So newb here, performing his first computer build.
Problem is that I don't see any numbers on my motherboard's sata ports.
My manual is a little confusing, as the diagram and video shows the odd/even numbers on different sides.
Due to the large number of drives & cable management concerns...I'd like to know the exact SATA port numbers before connecting & running computer.
Can anyone tell me what side the odd/even Sata ports are located on?
Are the odd numbers located on the motherboard side (while even are on case side)?
Or, are the even numbers located on the motherboard side (while odd are on case side)?

    Thanks HenryW!

  • UCS F port trunking and reserved VSAN confusion

We have an existing UCS infrastructre where all  the FI's FC ports are connected to the MDS9513 as one to one connection ( no port channel or trunking) and the FI is working as "end host mode" . We are planning to move some crtical production application to the UCS infrastrcture and becuse of that we would like to use the FC port chanelling and F-port trunking. While reading some documents I found that there are some restriction on UCS for VSAN numbering while using the FI  for F-port trunking . As per the following doc http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/cli/config/guide/2.0/b_UCSM_CLI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter_010101.html#concept_5223F7F368524A39AB1A47B9F8BFEC8A
it says donot configure VSAN  ID range from 3840 to 4079 . The MDS 9513 is running NX-OS 4.2(3) . Our existing  MDS SAN infrstructure already  have 2 VSANs with ID number  4000 and 4001 ( Both of these VSANS are usied for some storage replication unrelated to UCS). In the UCS we alreay have 2 VSANS' ( 200 and 201) and are planning to create 2 more ( 300 and 301).  My question is if  I  configure the FI's  for  F-port truncking/FC port channeling then what will happen to my existing VSAN 4000 and 4001 on the MDS9513 SAN
    Thanks
    RK

If you are asking how long it will take to enable f-port trunk and how disruptive it will be? It's not lengthy, but, it will cause the link to stop passing traffic and cause SCSI retrys. Your server will know it happened. If your fc multipathing is operating properly there will be no outage. If there are any configuration issues, the link may be down for an extended period, further compounding this disruption in traffic.
You initially asked about two features, f-port trunk and f-port channel. These are seperate features and require different configuration changes. It's best to add one feature at a time, not both in the same configuration change. Each change will be disruptive.
Do one fabric at a time. Ensure the f-port trunk is fully functional before doing the f-port channel, making sure it is functional before starting work on the second fabric. If your multipathing is operating as it should, there will be no outage. If there is any doubt schedule an outage window.

  • Confused asa 5520 port redirect

    HI
The network was simple like thie
               lan-------------(gi 1)--asa5520--(gi 0)--------------wan
    lan subnet is :  192.168.0.0/24
wan: only one ip address   1.1.1.1
The reqire was that:   allow all lan hosts  access to the internet  .
there  is a www server  (192.168.1.10)  in lan. Need it to serve for internet.
I config the asa like this:
         interface gi 0
              nameif outside
              ip add 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.252
         interface gi 1
              nameif inside
              ip add 192.168.1.1
         object network lan_hosts
              subnet 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
nat (inside, outside) after-auto dynamic source interface
         object networkd www_host
              host 192.168.1.10
nat (inside, outside) static interface service tcp http http
after that, i access  the   http://1.1.1.1  from internet. BUT the port redirection wasn't work.
    what's wrong .
    can someone help me!
    tks.

    Hi,
Although I can't see anything wrong with the actual NAT configurations I would suggest the following for them
    Default PAT for LAN
    object-group network DEFAULT-PAT-LAN-SOURCE
    network-object 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    nat (any,outside) after-auto source dynamic DEFAULT-PAT-LAN-SOURCE interface
Port Forward configurations you can leave them as is.
Have you opened the traffic with ACL also?
    For example
access-list OUTSIDE-IN Remark Allow HTTP for Server
access-list OUTSIDE-IN permit tcp any object www_host eq www
    access-group OUTSIDE-IN in interface outside
Please rate if you have found the information helpfull. Ask more questions if needed.

  • Confused on Wireless Options when adding second Air Port Extreme to network

Hello and thank you for your anticipated help. I decided to increase my coverage in my home by adding a second Air Port Extreme to the network. I followed the setup as outlined and it is connected to the network (green solid LEDs) but when I looked at the second Air Port Extreme I noticed under wireless options that there are different options listed. The primary APE show this:
    The extended APE shows this:
    Are these setting correct?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.
I understand the fact that a "hidden" network really isn't so hidden. I have a rather secure SSID (17+ characters) that should slow down anyone trying to access it from outside, especially since most programs designed to defeat PW tend to limit themselves to 16 characters. We're not a nuclear site, but I just feel better knowing that I have at least checked the box that made it hidden.
Everything is working well and I just didn't understand the whole second APE setup thing with the channels and frequencies.
Thank you for you help and input.
BTW, I installed the 7.6.3 update and pulled it back to 7.6.1 after up/dn speeds declined considerably.

  • Confusion/frustration opening ports

I better give the situation first.
My brother and I play FFXI (Final Fantasy 11) on two computers.  We login and after about 5-10 minutes we get a time out error message.  Anyone who knows FFXI knows about R0 (recieving) and S0 (sending).  At the moment its our Sending signal that is droping and causing the time out error.
I called Square Enix and was told we needed to open ports.  I figure that should be easy, so I go online and on their site find the list of ports to open.
    TCP:
     25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535
    UDP:
    50000 - 65535
So I login to the router admin after turning off norton and windows firewalls on all computers.  On the Port Triggering page there is not only the Port Triggering option but also Port Forwarding options.  From what I understand we dont' need Port Forwarding.  So I set up with this
Aplication: PlayOnline (name on desktop icon actual file is pol.boot but doesn't work)
Triggering range 25-65535 (was hoping to use one port range.)
I left the Port Frowarding section alone and checked the "Enable" box and save settings.
It didn't help.  I even enabled UPNP on both the router firewall and on the POL Settings, still didn't help.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.   I don't want to do a DMZ because we need ports for both computers open and eventually the 3rd (backup) incase one of these crash.  We are ready to scream.
Message Edited by unacorn on 10-16-2007 08:34 PM

No. Port triggering and port forwarding and DMZ are different ways how to open ports on the router to be used inside your network. There is always some kind of server involved in the LAN for that. A server in this sense can also be your game which opens various ports on your computer and listens for incoming traffic on those ports. But as you are running a router with network address translation (NAT) those open ports on the computer cannot be seen from the internet by default. Your computer has a private IP address 192.168.1.* which cannot be accessed directly from the internet. NAT maps the single public IP address to multiple private IP addresses. By default the router does drop any incoming traffic from the internet simply because it does not know where to send it. If a computer inside your LAN sends something out before, then the router will accept the returning answer and forwards it to the computer which send the data out before. But this only works if a computer inside first initiates the connection. If your computer on 192.168.1.50 connects to www.linksys.com the router remembers that it was 192.168.1.50 that connected to www.linksys.com and will forward the responds from www.linksys.com back to 192.168.1.50 (obviously this is a little bit simplified but the basics are correct).
To accept unrelated traffic from the internet to get into your LAN and reach a computer you have to tell the router what it should do. That is port forwarding. If something arrives on port 25 it will always forward the traffic to a specific computer defined in the forwarding. This may be necessary in case in multi-player games where other people from other IP addresses have to send you something before you ever send something to them. That's an example when you need forwarding. Your game application on your computer is the "server" then because it listens/opens some ports on the computer which must be accessible from the internet for unrelated traffic. Otherwise unrelated incoming traffic is dropped.
Port triggering is a way to dynamically add some port forwardings depending on previous outgoing traffic. For example, you can forward some port 2525 on traffic on port 25. This means if a computer inside the LAN connects to port 25 the router will dynamically establish incoming port forwarding on port 2525 to the same computer inside the LAN which used port 25 before. It depends on the router for how long this forwarding will be active. It also won't help you if you require the same port forwardings at the same time on two or more computers inside your LAN connecting to the same server in the internet. At any given time it is only possible to forward a port to a single computer inside the LAN.
Connections from the LAN to internet servers are not affect by either port forwarding or port triggering. By default, any computer in the LAN can access any server at any port in the internet.
Many ISPs only assign you a single public IP address. You cannot connect multiple computers or routers at the same time to the modem then. Check with your ISP if it is possible to connect multiple devices to the modem and get multiple public IP addresses.
If you can I would think about whether you really want to get a second router or whether you simply connect both computers directly to the modem and use it that way. There is little benefit hooking up a second router with a second set of port forwardings.

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551dn - Optional USB Device port

Hi, I'm hoping to buy the optional wireless print server (HP Jetdirect 2700w USB Wireless Print Server J8026A). There is one problem though, the optional USB device port seems to not exist on my printer. I only notice that the USB logo is present where the port is supposed to be. The plastic in the area is squared off as though it is some sort of break away tab and the port is underneath maybe.
There is no reference to this in the manual anywhere and I am really unsure how to proceed. I don't want to damage anything.
If someone experienced with this model (preferably an HP Employee) can confirm the availability of the port and tell me how to access it (Is it a break away tab?). Part of the reason why I bought this printer is the optional Wireless N print server.
    Thank You in advance.

Thank You for your reply. The port you are talking about is the front panel port for walk-up usb printing and firmware upgrades. This port is indeed available on the higher end LaserJet 500 (NON-MFP, printer only edition) as I just used it to upgrade the firmware. The port I am talking about is the one on the left side in the ports section which you use to plug in the optional print server (not the computer I/O port).
This is shown in the official manual and the spec sheet so I'm 85% sure the port is there, hp can't advertise and mention something that is not available as this would be a big problem and make the 2700w print server incompatible when it clearly states that it is. I just need someone to confirm the availability and clear my confusion (either from HP, or another owner who bought the wireless print server 2700w).

  • What do I need to connect my late 2009 Mac book (mini display port) to the TV and get sound?

    I'm totally confused!
I have a late 2009 model Macbook. And I want to connect it to my TV.
So my research has led to believing I need a Mini display port adapter and a HDMI cable - but from some of what I have read, this won't carry sound...
Can anyone clarify this and what I do actually need?

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with theHDMI.
If you have the Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the MiniDisplay Port there is an adapter that can combine video and audio to HDMI.

  • Write among COM ports in the same PC without cables

How can I write to the memory address(es) of a serial COM port?  I would like to send data from one serial COM port to another in a manner similar to the that of the 'Simple Data Client' and 'Simple Data Server' vi examples.  This must sound strange since this is exactly what a null modem cable will do, externally.  I would like to eliminate the cable connection between COM ports that exsit in the same PC and communicate between them, internal to the PC, somehow.
Currently, I am using a LabVIEW vi to read a serial message on COM1, translate it, send the trsanslation out on COM2, so that a separate windows program (no .DLLs to interface with LabVIEW) can read the message on COM 3.  COM 2 and COM 3 are connected by a null-modem cable.  This requires three COM ports, and two serial cables.  I realize that I can use a physical loop-back jumper on COM2, for instance, where I send and read the translated message on COM2, but I still wonder if there is a method for doing this in memory, or something. Is there a way to accomplish the same objective with one cable (into COM1), no loop-back jumpers, and only two serial ports?  In summary, I want to read on COM 1, translate in LabVIEW, then write directly to another COM port, internally, without using a serial cable.  Can the 'IN PORT' or 'OUT PORT' vi's apply here?  Are these tools only for parallel ports?
Hope this is not too confusing....  It seems like I am always trying to do something with LabVIEW that was not meant to be done....
    Thanks.

Thank you.  If I pay the price they ask, this looks like it will create and share virtual COM ports - exactly what I need.  However, I would really like to find a way to do this in LabVIEW, such that I do not have to make my application dependent on another piece of third party software.  The 'Simple Data Client.vi' and 'Simple Data Server.vi', included in the shipset examples, seem to do this for TCP/ IP ports.  I wonder why the COM ports cannot be addressed at the memory level, in a similar manner???
