Positioning settings in c3

What is 'positioning' in contact menu?

Old Toad wrote:
The battery percentage option is located in the Settings/General/Usage preference pane.  As for vibration patters there is no option for that.  It's either on or off.
You actually can change the vibration pattern by, for example, going to Settings>Sounds>Ringtone and tapping on Vibration. From there, you can chose one of the existing patterns or, by scrolling down to Custom>Create New Vibration, create a pattern of your choosing. Never quite saw the point of it myself but I guess some people like it.

  • Firefox window position settings stored/set where?

This is a dumbass question as I can't remember/seem to retrace my steps what I have done.
I have 2 computers and have set dropbox to store some firefox settings and have basically forgotten what I did and I can't seem to find the alias link.
One of my computers is a laptop, the other a desktop with 2 screens. I have firefox open on screen 2 on the dual setup and on the primary screen on the laptop.
My problem/issue is when I've had firefox open on the laptop, the settings are stored somewhere so when I open firefox on the dual setup it opens initially on screen 1... as I say I'm being a dumbass here and can't work out how to undo the settings.
    Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].

  • Legacy media - 'match previous' zoom/position settings?

I have a lot of .jpg's for technical
illustration that have (for example) a diagram and a second .jpg of the same image but with a callout
    (arrow or whatever) inserted.
I know how I can do this with layers now - but I'd like to reuse the old drawings.
To do that if I need to 'zoom/pan' I'd like to put the .jpg's in sequence and 'match previous clip' (I think that's what another NLE calls it).
For now I have been reading the position and zoom numbers and then re-entering them for the next selection.  A pain ALMOST enough to
use Illustrator/Photoshop to recreate the callouts.  But not quite.
Is there the equivalent of the 'match previous' function?

    That works perfectly!  Thanks.

  • Editing the position of a floating window video for an interactive PDF

I'm fairly new to InDesign CS5's interactive features, so forgive me if I'm making a blatant mistake. However, everything I have read about floating windows says that you can easily adjust the size and position in the Interactive PDF options dialog and I am not able to. I have no problem getting the video to play in a floating window, the problem is that I am unable to change the position settings. It is locked as "centered" though when I view the PDF, the window pops up in the upper right and extends beyond the frame of my window. How do I unlock the position settings and get it to actually play centered?
I have tried this using a placed .mov video and I also tried converting it to a F4V file, because I read those worked better, but still no luck.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any solutions?
    Thanks!

PDF (Portable Document Format) used to be a proprietary standard developed by Adobe Systems. A few years ago, they decided to make it an international standard, no longer proprietary: ISO 32000.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf/pdf_reference.edu.html
International standards are managed by standards organizations which meet with a committee structure. As such, they are slower to adapt to new techologies.
By contrast, Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, it an active, rapidly-changing, PROPRIETARY set of applications and cloud-based services.
Both models have their advantages and disadvantages.

  • Watermark settings not saved

I want to apply the same watermark to a slew of documents.  I painstakingly set up the size, the horizontal/vertical location, and the name of the .pdf file that I use as the watermark.  Click save, give it a name, then save and close the pdf I was in.
Then I open the second document.  Click "add watermark", and in the "Saved Settings" dropdown box, select my newly-created setting.  Too bad, Charlie - NOTHING is recalled - not the name of the .pdf watermark file, nor any of the size or position settings.  It's as if I did nothing at all.
What am I doing wrong?  Using Acrobat version 9.

    Hi,
I've finally found someone who seems to have come across the same problem I've had for months.
It's frustrating that preset watermarks always appear as 50%. This is surely because Acrobat stupidly sets the default value for "scale relative to target page" at 50%. Why do that??? Why not allow users to change the default???
Anyhow, I shall try your work around and see if that work but I can't understand the brains behind setting default size to 50% and then worse still, not allowing users to change it to their own preference!
    Thanks for your suggestion,
    M

  • Wall Mural settings?

    Hi,
I am relatively new to photoshop, and am trying to create a wall mural from a series of photographs (enough of an issue already)..which will go to a large printer to make it either into one vinyl sheet or about 3 of them. I am lost at the beginning . What settings would I need to do to open a new document. The wall is 6 foot by 3 ish foot. Do I put those measurements in as a single document and then the printer cuts it and does what they need to do or do I have the nightmare of making 3 documents and trying to match them together seamlessly?
I am assembling a series of approx 8 photographs.
    Thanks!

If it was me I wouldn't make it more than about 100 ppi. In fact I have created a lot of interior murals using about 40 - 50 ppi and from the distance where  viewers have to be in order to see comfortably the entire image, no one can see the difference between 50 and 300 ppi. I have also created billboards that are viewed from very far using as low as 10 ppi. It is all about the viewing distance. 300 ppi is a publishing industry standard for images printed on books and magazines that are viewed from reading distance, if you increase that distance twice, the resolution can decrease twice too.
If you have a desktop printer, even black and white, you can test the resolution by printing in tiles then you can tape the tiles together and mount the whole thing on a wall. If it bothers you that when you go closer and see some pixelation you an add a little blur and noise.
If you don't have a layout program that makes it quick and easy to print in tiles, you can use the Position settings in Photoshp's Print window, uncheck Center Image and enter the coordinates of the top left corner of each tile.

  • Forgotten Finder Window Positions

I have a new G5 Quad, and certain finder windows will not retain their positions/settings. Some of them behave fine, but others revert to basic icon view/default size and position if they are not opened for a while, or after a restart. It is very annoying. I have updated the system, deleted the .DSstore files in those folders, repaired the disk/permissions, cleared the caches, etc. It's driving me crazy. Can anyone help?

    Figured it out.

  • ITunes does not sync playback position between computers

I have a Macbook (10.7) and a Mac Pro (10.8). The same audiobook on both but iTunes on the Macbook doesn't seem to remember where I left off when I was listening on the Pro. I resisted upgrading from 10.6 for a long time but isn't icloud supposed to do this?! I can't find any settings that control this and, yes, the audiobook is set to "remember playback position"
    Thanks for your help!

    SeaBeast wrote:
... on the device your are listenning the track.
    Beast,
This is similar to my question, however I'm talking songs, not audio books, here.
How is it possible to have different "remember playback position" settings for different devices using the same iTunes library?
The example is that the iPod I connect to my car audio always (annoyingly) starts playing the same song whenever the iPod is switched on. I want to use the "remember playback position" setting to to stop this, and instead start playing the song from where it left off previously. I assume I could use a batch change on iTunes to accomplish this. However, I wouldn't want that setting used for other devices.
    Thoughts?

  • How do I use pan and zoom on vertical photographs without editing out most of the photo?

I am trying to make a slide show.  When I have a vertically oriented (portrait) photograph and try to use pan and zoom, the feature eliminates much of the photograph.  It seems the pan and zoom feature only works for horizontally oriented (or landscape) photographs.  Is there a way to use pan and zoom on vertically oriented photographs to capture all or most of the photograph and zoom in from there?

    gtavetian
I decided to use a different strategy to convey the principle. It is most likely that your photos will be 4:3 and you may or may not be taking them into a SD widescreen or HD widescreen project. With all those variables, to get the basic ideas across, I am going to use two models with a generalized scheme.
    For this post....
NTSC DV Standard Project - Portrait Oriented JPG, in this case 2448 x 3264 3:4. Could be any Portrait Oriented JPEG any pixel dimensions. But best plan ahead for what you have and what you would like.
Manually set the project preset to NTSC DV Standard.
File Menu/New/Project and, in the new project dialog, set for NTSC DV Standard.
Before exiting the final dialog in that area, put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". Close out of there.
Next go to the Edit Menu/Preferences/General and remove the check mark next to "Default Scale to Frame Size". Close out of the preferences.
In the opened Premiere Elements Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets to get your portrait oriented JPG to the beginning of the Timeline. The 2448 x 3264 3:4 will overwhelm the space in the Edit Mode monitor. That is to be expected. The Timeline Indicator is at the beginning of the Timeline @ 00;00;00;00.
    a. Click on the Timeline jpg to select it. With Motion Panel/Scale property (with Constrain Proportions with check mark), you want to scale the image so that the whole is shown within the mode space. You want to see the image's bounding box. See the next screenshot. The bounding box is the white outline around the image. It has handles.
After the scaling to get that look, the important information that you want is on the right in the Motion Panel
    Position values 360.0 and 240.0
    Scale value 14.6%.
The next phase is as before (See post 21 of this thread...but much of that is repeated below and modified for what is being described at this moment)
With Timeline Indicator at the beginning of Video Track 1 (00;00;00;00), go to Tools Menu/Pan and Zoom and click on it to open  the Pan and Zoom workspace.
In the Pan and Zoom workspace, you will see that the feature has created the initial two Focus Frames for you.
Do not do anything to Focus Frame 1 in the bin below the image window.
Click on Focus Frame 2 in the bin below the image window and set the Focus Frame as wanted.
Click on New Frame in the panel to the left of the image window  to create a third Focus Frame which will appear in the bin. Set Focus Frame as wanted.
Click on New Frame in the panel  to the left of the image window to create a fourth Focus Frame which will appear in the bin. Set the Focus Frame as wanted.
Click Done to the Pan and Zoom workspace so that you are back in the Premiere Elements Expert workspace with its Timeline.
    In the Expert workspace,
Move the Timeline Indicator to the last frame of the selected pan and zoom clip 1. In Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded, (Toggle Animation should be active at this point), make sure Position settings are 360.0 and 240.0 and Scale = 14.6% (with Constrain Proportions used). Then go to Tools Menu/Freeze Frame and set the freeze frame for 3 seconds and hit Insert in Movie.
Then move the Timeline Indicator to the first frame of the selected pan and zoom clip 1. In Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded (Toggle Animation should be active at this point), make sure Position settings are 360.0 and 240.0 and Scale = 14.6% (with Constrain Proportions used). Then go to Tools Menu/Freeze Frame and set the freeze frame for 3 seconds and hit Insert in Movie.
    Render.
The Timeline content sequence from start to finish should be:
Freeze Frame 3 seconds First Frame of pan and zoom clip 1
    Pan and zoom clip 1
Freeze Frame 3 seconds Last Frame of pan and zoom clip 1
Freeze Frame 3 seconds First Frame of pan and zoom clip 2
    Pan and zoom clip 2
Freeze Frame 3 seconds Last Frame of pan and zoom clip 2
A Dissolve/Cross Dissolve Video Transition (1.00 seconds) is placed between end of Freeze Frame  Last Frame of pan and zoom clip 1 and beginning of Freeze Frame 3 First Frame of pan and zoom clip 2.
Additional pan and zoom portrait oriented jpgs to the Timeline would be treated as above.
What was done above can be applied to any photo with any project preset. The basic idea is to
    a. Start with determing the whole picture Position and Scale values as described with the Default Scale to Frame Size option disabled.
    b. Do pan and zoom with Pan and Zoom Tool in its workspace
    c. Return to Premiere Elements workspace to apply your Position and Scale values to the last frame of pan and zoom clip so that the last frame presents in full clip view. Then go to the first frame of the pan and zoom clip, and apply the Position and Scale values to it so that the first frame presents in full clip view.
    d. If you want the whole view to present for more than that one frame, do the freeze frame at each end, with the wanted duration.
    e. Apply emblessments as wanted, such as video transitions, an animated graphic flying through the last scene, etc.
We could take this same clip into a NTSC AVCHD Full HD 1080p30 project and do the same, except the Position and Scale values and the Scale % determined at the beginning and used subsequently will be different than in the NTSC DV Standard project.
Please check out the above and see how you do with it. If problems, please indicate where and we will work through them.
    Thanks.

    Does HERE Maps work offline?
Yes, on Windows Phone 8 devices HERE Maps can be used also in offline mode.
With Nokia Maps on the Windows Phone 7 devices you need an online connection. In these devices the map data is streamed on as needed basis and it is not cached.
Can I start Drive navigation from HERE Maps in my Nokia Lumia phone?
Yes, on Windows Phone 8 devices you can start drive navigation from HERE Maps.
On Windows Phone 7 devices you need to go to the Nokia Drive application to start the navigation.
Why can't HERE Maps find my location?
Check that you've allowed HERE Maps and your phone to find your location.
    In HERE Maps
Go to Settings in the HERE Maps app and turn on Use your location
    In your phone settings
In your phone's main menu, tap Settings > location > on.
Things that can affect your GPS signal may include: being indoors, tall buildings, poor weather and some car windscreens. You'll also get a better fix on your location if you've got a data connection.
    HERE Drive for Windows Phone
Can I use HERE Drive without a data connection?
Yes. To use HERE Drive offline, tap Settings and choose Connection. You can then toggle between offline and online.
Search results might be limited in offline mode. To be able to navigate offline, you need to download a map to your phone.
What is the difference between HERE Maps and HERE Drive?
HERE Drive is an application for voice-guided turn-by-turn driving navigation. HERE Maps is a map application which shows your current position and interesting places around you. You can also plan routes in HERE Maps but the app will launch HERE Drive for turn-by-turn navigation
What's the difference between HERE Drive and HERE Drive+?
HERE Drive offers turn-by-turn navigation in a single country or area, depending on the country of your SIM. Worldwide navigation is possible by purchasing an upgrade.
HERE Drive+ is a premium app that comes with worldwide turn-by-turn navigation from the start. You can use it with or without a SIM.
Users of HERE Drive can buy an upgrade to HERE Drive+ through the Windows Phone Store.
    HERE Transit for Windows Phone
How do I install the HERE Transit application in my Windows Phone?
Download and install HERE Transit from Microsoft Store. Start Store in your phone and search for HERE Transit or browse in Nokia collection.
In Windows Phone 7 devices the corresponding app is Nokia Transport and it can be installed from Marketplace.
Why can't HERE Transit find my route?
If you're having trouble getting a route:
Make sure the date, time and time zone on your phone are set properly.
Check that you've got a data connection.
A point in your route might be in a region where no transport info is available.
The route is too long. HERE Transit is designed for use with local city public transport, not national or international transport.
Can I save routes in HERE Transit?
You can pin a journey from your current location as a tile to your Windows Phone start screen.
Select the options icon at the bottom of the screen, and then the pin icon.

Sorry, I'd like to unresolve this. The workaround mentioned is not a solution.
I travel to loads of places by motorcycle, and going off the beaten track is wonderful. Since I upgraded My E6-00 and C7-00 to a Lumia 920, I'm back to allowing the SatNav (phone) to decide where I go. Boring dual carriageways and bypasses are now my natural habitat - bah humbug. Afterall, the phone is in my pocket (safe from weather), headphones in my helmet - I can't constantly look at a map. Having multiple 'favourites' and planning from one to the next isn't workable. Fair enough the Lumia 920 is usable with gloves on (major plus for a biker, come on you marketing people!) but I don't fancy re-routing all the time by the side of a road.
I'm also planning a charity cycle ride over 100s of miles this Summer, and while that can be done in BikeRouteToaster, Google Maps etc, there is no import function into 'HERE' that I can see. It's impossible to plan a route on the device itself. Yes it can route walker (I can't seem to get turn by turn working for that, but nevermind), public transport and car, I have an option to avoid motorways etc, but cycle route planning needs consideration for height metres, unpaved/paved roads (Google StreetView etc used a lot to find a Sustrans route is actually unfit for road bikes) etc. So.. Importing a route planned elsewhere (gpx, kml or something) would be a real alternative, or a workaround. Asking the device to do its own planning from one point to another really isn't workable.
Please make the Nokia's USP an actual USP again?

  • Match resolutions/aspect ratio of two different cameras

I shot a short video with an iPad 3 and a Sony DCR-DVD-403 NTSC.
The video from the iPad is fuller and wider than the footage I shot with the Sony Cam.
    1. I just need them to be the same size as I edit.  So that I can produce this project with all video the same size.
    2. I would also like to know if I can capture the footage from the miniDVD straight into Premiere Pro without having to use a third party converter to rip and convert.  Is this possible, if so, then I am hoping I get the option to match the video aspect ratio from the discs with the iPad footage.
I can't find the answer to these questions anywhere.
    Many thanks,
    TekyJohn

You have three issues to deal with -
    1) Sony footage is Standard Definition, iPad is HD
    2) Sony is 4:3, iPad is 16:9 widescreen
    3) iPad clips are 30.0 frames per second, while the standard for video is 29.97 frames actually, like the Sony clips are.
If both were widescreen, this would be so much simpler....
Do you need to deliver in HD, or will SD be ok? Because if you blow up the SD to HD, it will look very soft next to the HD video. Better to bring the HD down to SD specs. If they were both 16:9, you'd be all set!
However, you need to decide if you want to crop the iPad footage to 4:3, or make the 4:3 clips into 16:9, either way you lose part of the image. Or you could mix them as is, but you will have either letterboxing or pillarboxing on just ONE of the clips and that will not look good when switching between the two cameras.
So...if you want to deliver as 16:9 SD, you could do this - create a new DV Widescreen sequence and add your clips. To get rid of the black side bars (pillarboxing) on the SD clips, use the Adobe Motion control in Effects panel to Scale the clip up until it fills the screen. You then may also need to adjust the clip up or down within the frame so as to not cut off heads, keep subject framed, using Position settings for X and Y. That is the downside to making 4:3 into 16:9, you lose some of the image. For the iPad clip, right-click and select "Scale to Frame Size" and it will fill the widescreen just fine.
If you want to deliver 4:3 SD, then choose an NTSC DV preset, which will be 4:3 and suitable to the Sony clips. Then bring in the iPad clips and Scale down to fit using Motion effect, keeping in mind the SIDES of the video will be clipped off. Again, you can use the Position settings in Motion to move the frame left or right to keep the subject framed.
As for frame rate issue, I believe that Adobe will handle that for you when putting the 30fps clip into the 29.97 sequence, should be ok but may result in a little weirdness in smoothness of motion, not sure. I don't know if you'll run into audio sync issues between the two though??
    Good luck

  • "ease in - ease out" in new FCP 7??

I heard that the new FCP 7 allows us to get REAL ease-in\ease-out when creating moves on stills. I just made a couple of quick tests ... and I'm not noticing any great change in the subtlety of easing, or lack thereof, from previous versions of FCP. I'm working on a film with hundreds of stills, requiring endless camera\animation moves. I've been sending the sequences to Motion to get decent easing in and out; I was hoping the new FCP would make this unnecessary (based on the rumors I've heard).
Or perhaps it requires a different process when adding the ease-in\ease-out to the moves?
    Ben

    Hi -
I agree with David's post that it would probably be preferable to work in Motion or AE (or my favorite, Boris Red) - not only for the ease of creating the motion effects, but for what seems to be the better physical dynamics that those applications seem to have.
But . . . if you have to work in FCP, a couple of tricks I have learned in FCP when apply spline motion is:
    1) Bracket the motion keyframes by putting a non-splined keyframe with the same position settings one frame before the real starting keyframe and one frame after the real ending keyframe. This helps prevent some of the "erratic" behavior.
    2) To better see the mauve points, I enlarge the canvas to 400% or 800% and set the canvas view to wireframe only. I have a window arrangement saved that lets me quickly get the screen set up to make these adjustments.
But, as David and you point out, clearly the best way is to switch to Motion, AE or Boris Red.
    Good luck!

  • Custom Print

I am trying to print a form with the following measures, height: 404, width: 639.
The problem is that when printing, I need to choose the size of A4 paper, but in doing so I lose the positioning settings I had configured in the template of the form.

    Sorry for bad english xD

The best way to handle unusual impositions for in house printing is place the pages in a new print document. You can place an InDesign page the same way you can place an image or PDF, so make the print document to the print’s trim size and place the reader pages on the print doc's pages and rotate them as needed.

  • Can I use GPS if my Nokia 5800 XP is in offline mo...

as subject. I want to use MAP when I'm in china, but I don't want to pay for expensive data roaming charge. is it possible?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
Maps can be used offline to avoid data charges, however the following will not be available in Offline Mode:
    View Satellite maps
    View Terrain maps
    Search the latest address/POI database
    Real-time Traffic and Safety updates
Share your status, photos and location to your Facebook profile (Maps 3.03 Only)
    Get Weather forecasts
See local event info from WCities (Maps 3.03 Only)
Access Lonely Planet city guides (Maps 3.03 Only)
Access the Michelin restaurant guide (Maps 3.03 Only)
Synchronize your locations with Ovi Maps on the internet
You can switch between Online and Offline mode by going to the Maps Settings and:
    Select Internet
Select Connection or Go Online at Start-up
Please Note: Switching between Online and Offline mode in Maps will not prevent data charges through the use of positioning settings such as AGPS and WiFi/Network positioning. These will need to be turned off in the Positioning Settings on your device. Please see your device manual for more information.

    Avoid Data Charges
    Hope this helps,
